qi rong! i kid, i kid. how about jc.
I will ignore your cruel taunting and focus on my viniferous darling.
a song that reminds me of them
I don't think I have a personal anthem for him, but En Fortapt Bror (A Prodigal Brother) by Rotvelt would probably go on the playlist if I made one, just for this bit alone:
Kan ikke ta det tilbake Kan ikke få du gjort Jeg vil ikke ha tilgivelse Det vil ikke vaske det bort
Can't take it back Can't get you done I don't want forgiveness It won't wash it away
what they smell like
If we're getting poetic, like lotus fragrance and ozone.
an otp
No one in the cast is right for JC but I do think he wants and deserves a suitable wife so I like the idea of reading something where he's in a relationship. His problem is that he needs just, so much therapy before he can make an effective life partner for anyone. He features in this postcanon AU I wrote and that's a reasonable depiction of how I think things could shake out for him after many years have passed if he's worked on himself. Basically, I know his extracanonical list of qualities he requires in a wife is meant to be humorous, but I tried to incorporate them into an OC while also making her a match for him.
I dabbled in reading Sangcheng because I am a slave to @starwife and like, in theory, many many many many many years postcanon who knows what might happen? And mightn't that be interesting? Sadly I have come to the conclusion that it's too much of a stretch and isn't my cup of tea. Pls forgive
a notp
I was racking my brain to think of a JC pairing I kneejerk hate beyond the general 'well, he isn't really compatible with any of the characters we meet' stance and then I realised I had forgotten Xicheng exists. Pause for audience laughter.
What can I even add here? It's based on nothing and it's not even like there's the intelligence of a thoughtful resistant read behind it. The laziest possible pair the spares approach taken by people whose reading comprehension is so poor they think JGY is an irredeemable cackling villain and WWX is a noble woobie. Thankfully it's easy for me to avoid and therefore ironically ends up irritating me less than bad Xiyao in practice.
favorite platonic/familial relationships
I love his relationship with his mother. She's just horrendous to him and I don't think he ever has any concrete evidence she loves him until their final moments together, but what I find most interesting and realistic is that he seems to understand her. He can see why she is who she is, which doesn't in any way mitigate the damage she does but is an important part of their dynamic because it's an element of why he defends her and it contributes to how he internalises her criticisms.
My favourite JC and YZY moment is this:
Jiang Cheng was stuck between his father and his mother. After a moment of hesitation, he moved to his mother’s side. Holding his shoulders, Madam Yu pushed him forward for Jiang FengMian to see, “Sect Leader Jiang, it seems that some things I have to say. Look carefully—this, is your own son, the future head of Lotus Pier. Even if you frown upon him just because I was the one who bore him, his surname is still Jiang! … I don’t believe for one second that you haven’t heard of how the outside people gossips, that Sect Leader Jiang has still not moved on from a certain Sanren though so many years have passed, regarding the son of his old friend as a son of his own; they’re speculating if Wei Ying is your…”
YZY emotionally, verbally and sometimes physically abuses her son. She is failing him as a mother and as a mentor. But she is not failing him as badly as JFM is failing him, and everything she says here is completely correct. And when JC and WWX talk about it afterwards, JC is also correct. WWX and LWJ kill the Xuanwu of Slaughter and no one cares or gives JC credit for his less glamorous contributions. His own father prefers WWX and doesn't even like him, and that is appalling.
WWX means well by trying to gloss over it, but it's an open secret and pretending it's not true is harmful. YZY is also going about it all wrong, but she's the only person who calls JFM out directly for failing his son. Pot, kettle, but there's a reason why when JC is stuck between his parents he ends up going over to his mother's side.
a headcanon that is popular in the fandom but that i disagree with
I'm going to go radical here and say I don't personally enjoy or want to read any postcanon Twin Heroes reconciliation. The novel is pretty final about how things end up for them, and it's my belief that they are both far better off not being in each other's lives any more. It's sad because they were close as brothers and love each other so deeply, but ultimately it's for the best. They both appear to be in agreement about this.
the position they sleep in
Probably looks all super cool and handsome when he sleeps, but unfortunately not quite as super cool and handsome as WWX.
a crossover au i’d love to see them in
Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Can you imagine.
my favorite outfit they’ve ever worn
We all know I'm MDZS first in almost everything, but I'm not a huge fan of JC's hair in the official art. Besides, it cracks me up that JC is far and away the most stylish member of the cast in CQL, and yet there's no indication that it's actually an interest of his. CQL NHS wearing his same basic bitch grey and white yet again while CQL JC swaggers past in his shoulder pads owning the entire world—amazing. How could I pick a favourite? I do like his official photo look though, because the gold looks great with the purple.

does jiang cheng have a choice?
antis hate Jiang Cheng for ‘abandoning’ Wei Wuxian, but did he realistically have any other options available?
for my money, the non-negotiable goals for Jiang Cheng in this situation are
keep Wei Wuxian alive and not in the custody of another clan
ease the pressure from the other clans to take responsibility for/act against Wei Wuxian
maintain the Jiang clan’s autonomy and standing amongst the clans
and the non-negotiable goals for Wei Wuxian in this situation are
keep Jiang Cheng and the Jiang clan safe, alive, and out of the direct control of other clans (especially the Jin)
undermine Jiang Cheng’s authority as clan leader as little as possible
keep the Wen safe, alive, and free (ish-- at least as free as they are now)
continue trying to save Wen Ning/keep him ‘alive’ once he’s revived
do not reveal to anyone that he has lost his golden core
do not give anyone the Yin Tiger Tally
Wei Wuxian returning to the Jiang is off the table because he won’t leave the Wen. Wei Wuxian AND the Wen somehow coming into the custody of the Jiang isn’t possible because Jiang Cheng doesn’t have that much clout, and it’s hard to believe that Wei Wuxian would accept a situation that would necessarily have to look a lot like imprisonment for the Wen if the other clans were going to accept it. so already, the only way for Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian to both achieve some of their key goals is for Wei Wuxian to stay in the Burial Mounds with the Wen somehow-- which means the only goals remaining to both of them are ensuring that the Jiang clan doesn’t get punished for that, or placed in a situation where they’re forced to act violently against Wei Wuxian/the Burial Mounds/the Wen (and yes, obviously it comes to that eventually anyway, but a lot changes first). and canon is explicitly clear that the other clans are absolutely not about to let the Jiang off the hook for what Wei Wuxian is doing. they want and need him to turn on Wei Wuxian, and if he won’t, they don’t really care about dragging this decimated, teenager-led clan down with Wei Wuxian.
the Jiang clan has nothing at this point, barely even a home. even if the other clans were open to reaching a compromise in terms of the Wei Wuxian situation, who on earth is going to believe him if he says, I’ve got the Wei Wuxian situation handled, I’m going to leave him in the Burial Mounds and keep an eye on him, he’s my problem not yours?
and that’s the final, essential element-- Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian are not in a fair fight. the other clans are actively pushing them towards conflict, and won’t accept any outcome besides a complete break, or a complete capitulation by Wei Wuxian.
maybe I’m just not feeling creative today, but I genuinely can’t come up with a single other solution beyond the one that the two of them find and implement in canon-- a fake schism and staged fight.

Hello MDZS fandom!! So I actually wrote chapter 1 of a fanfic that involves my oc that I created. I wasn't planning on it but was hit with inspiration one night sooooo it happened lol. I don't have a title yet, which is why I don't have it on Ao3 but I wanted people to be able to see it so yeah. A lot is just taken from the prologue of the actual novels but I actively put my oc into it and explored her thoughts and goings on. So um enjoy. Or if you don't that's also fine. Just wanted to post it so it didn't seem silly to just have lol. So find it below the cut!
Prologue
“Great news! Wei Wuxian has died!”
            “The Yiling Patriarch has died?
"Who could have killed him?”
“Who other than his shidi, Jiang Cheng, putting an end to his own shixiong for the greater good. Jiang Cheng led the four clans of Yunmeng Jian, Lanling Jin, Gusu Lan, and Qinghe Nie to destroy his den-the burial mounds,”
The moment Jiang Wanyin’s name was spoken as the culprit of Wei Wuxian’s death, the incessant drone of voices faded into the background of Nie Kexin’s mind. They speak these rumors, and yet not one of them had witnessed Wanyin desperately searching for any trace of his brother, nor the stark white of his knuckles as he grasped that obsidian flute with a tassel as red as the blood that had been spilled that night. Even if they had witnessed it, Jiang Wanyin would have made them believe that he was only so thorough to make sure that the Yiling Patriarch was truly dead. If he convinced others, then it would be easier to convince himself. Convincing himself of that was easier for him than admitting that after his temper calmed he had realized that he’d lost the last living member of his family; blood or not. But Kexin knew better. She’d known all of them far too well and for far too long to fall for his delusions.
Unfortunately, Kexin’s tumultuous thoughts could only drown out the continuous gossip for so long, and once she unwillingly tuned in again, she felt her temper flare up. What did they know?! They hadn’t known the Wei Wuxian who had made Huaisang feel more at ease in Gusu, the Wei Wuxian that had been willing to do anything for his siblings and friends, the Wei Wuxian that had put a target on himself and willingly removed himself from his clan to protect civilians that the rest of the cultivation world shouted to kill simply for being unfortunate enough to have the surname Wen. Without whom the Sunshot Campaign would have been a failure. Nie Kexin gripped the hilt of  Xin Li so tightly that her fingers took on a ghostly shade. Just as the thought ‘propriety be damned’ crossed her mind, her gaze landed on the silk fan that lay on the table in front of her. Slowly she relinquished her grip on her saber. The hand that had previously had a death grip on her saber gently picked up the delicate fan instead. Kexin opened the fan and twirled it a few times. As she admired the intricately painted design, she took a few deep breaths, recentering herself. She tossed money on the table to pay for her meal and then chose to leave the establishment, lest she do something that she would regret.
After the death of Wei Wuxian, these incomplete outlooks and gossip pushed to be facts continued on, but slowly it became less prominent. Though there were the beginnings of unconventional opinions, they were brought down immediately.
Despite the gossip easing down, the elephant in the room still remained in the back of everyone’s minds.
Wei Wuxian’s soul had been unable to be summoned by anyone that tried, which meant that his soul had disappeared.
It may have been torn apart by the millions of ghosts that had devoured it.
Or….it could have escaped.
If it were the first option, all was well and good. Yet, did the Yiling Patriarch not practically have the power to empty seas and move mountains? If it turned out to be the latter, and his soul had escaped, then it would eventually return and revive his body. If that day were to come, then the cultivation world would very likely be faced with his revenge and damnation and once more be in despair and chaos. Even yet, there was a part of Kexin, a rather large part really, that hoped his soul had indeed escaped. She would never speak it aloud, but the thought of her once dear friend’s soul being devoured until nothing remained seemed unbearable.
The various clans were so fearful of the Yiling Patriarch’s return that they set one hundred and twenty stone beasts atop the burial mounds and frequently initiated soul-summoning rituals. As even more precaution, these were followed by heightened vigilance and searches for strange occurrences throughout the world.
In the first year, nothing happened.
In the second year, nothing happened.
In the third year, nothing happened.
After 13 years, still nothing had happened.
By now, it seemed that the Yiling Patriarch had truly perished, his soul damned and destroyed along the way. This was a fact that proved to stab at Nie Kexin’s already wounded heart more. At last, the greatest enemy of the cultivation world who had managed to turn the world upside down, had toppled over himself.
Though to the cultivation world, they had bid farewell to the greatest enemy they had faced, to those that knew him best, both alive and gone, they had lost a brother, a friend, a hero; to dark incidences, some of which were out of anyone’s control.
But then, a legend was a legend. And legends never truly died…..

the aftermath of the burning god hurts in so many ways and the legacy of shamanism in nikan is just one of them. at the very start of the poppy war, jiang tells rin shamanism is a dying art and begs her to pledge lore to keep it alive. he warns her that the red emperor tried to eliminate it, and once the hesperians arrive they try to do the same. and gradually throughout the series, all the shamans rin meets up end up dying: altan, the cike, the trifecta. even the shamans rin trained, pipaji and dulin, end up dead. and when rin dies, she takes the history and knowledge of shamanism with her.
There are a few shamans left, unegen and lianhua and changhan and nezha, but they’re in no position to challenge the hesperians and revive the shamanic arts. unegen had been burned by rin’s  power and if he’s still alive, would be too paranoid and fearful of repercussion. changhan told rin he wasn’t getting involved in nikara’s affairs and had the hundred clans to lead; he can’t afford for the hesperians to turn their wrath on his people instead. nezha already gave up his powers and submitted to the hesperians long ago. lianhua, personally trained by rin, might be the only one willing to defy the hesperians (but it would be incredibly dangerous) but she doesn’t have the knowledge or the training to pass on the the arts like her predecessors did.
not only that, but the hesperians would’ve destroyed any knowledge of shamanism, burned all the books (as nezha had warned rin about), banned talk, and done their best to snuff out all traces of it and hunt the remaining shamans to extinction. And they would have history to prove their point: they, and their Maker had destroyed the Trifecta, the most legendary of Nikan’s shamans; they had killed Rin, the Phoenix’s vessel and the strongest shaman alive. And the last publicly known one, Nezha, had submitted and renounced his powers to them. Slowly but steadily, they’d erase Nikan’s history, two thousand years of the shamanic arts, intertwined with the very fabric of nikan itself, and the legacy of every shaman since then, from the textbooks and rewrite their own version. Those entombed in the Chuluu Korikh would be forever forgotten, with no one left alive to remember them or even know that they had once existed at all. The Cike wouldn’t even be a footnote. The Pantheon would fade.
The Hesperians were never able to take rin’s powers away from her, but what they did was worse. They didn’t just take her country, they’d erase her culture, her gods, the very truth. Nezha may have killed rin, but the hesperians destroyed her legacy.
History is written by the victors and the hesperians will not be kind.

what exactly is the difference between cql and the novel? i thought the wangxian dynamic was well written and the ending for both implied they would be together irregardless if they spent some time apart,,, i think @jiangwanyincatmom might have spoken about this before but i can't seem to find anything. but yeah, curious to hear about your thoughts
Well anon, there's rather a lot of differences, to go over all of them with a fine toothed comb would take hours.
But a brief list of what I can recall as being different off the top of my head...
Wei Wuxian is not the founder of the ghostly path in CQL as the undead cannot be shown on television, ergo the ghostly path cannot exist and he actually becomes a modao user. Also he no longer invented it as he did in MDZS, that honor is now given to Xue Yang's sudden ancestor whose name I cannot recall, elevating Xue Yang from his book status as street orphan and dark shadow to Wei Wuxian into the heir to the modao path and downgrading Wei Wuxian into someone who learned how to use Modao by actually finding old manuals instead of it just being a lie in the book.
There is no Yin Iron in the book, the Yin Hufu comes from Wei Wuxian taking a sword that had festered in resentment for over four hundred years in the belly of the Xuanwu of Slaughter and reforging it into a tool.
The timeline is radically changed. In the show, there's sixteen years between Wei Wuxian's death and revival, in the book there's thirteen. In the book, the Sunshot Campaign takes three years, in the show it's about six months. The backstory is 23-26 chapters of a 126 chapter novel, the show has the backstory be 30 of 50 episodes. In the book, the focus of the plot is actually on the mystery of Nie Mingjue's body, Wei Wuxian's actual reasons for being despised by the Jianghu and the love story between him and Lan Wangji. In the show, most of that plot is on the war between him and the Wen, with the focus staying much more predominantly with the Wen than it ever was in the book. Also Song Lan and Xiao Xingchen are six years younger than Wei Wuxian and the events with them and Xue Yang don't happen till after Wei Wuxian is dead, in the show they are moved to be older than Wei Wuxian and mysteriously disappear from the plot for 30 episodes. Also Nie Mingjue's body is no longer scattered in the show, there is an evil sword instead and Jin Guangyao was still responsible for several crimes, but not nearly as many as he was in the book, since Xue Yang is no longer his contemporary and thus all of his crimes are no longer tied in with Jin Guangyao as well.
Wangxian are not actually romantically involved in the show. It is all relegated to subtext, subtext that would have been erased entirely but for Modaozushi fans getting angry about the changes being made to the show and the love story that would have gone to Wen Qing being mostly cut and more scenes of Wangxian added back in later.
The Wens have white and red robes in the book, the black is exclusive to CQL.
Wei Wuxian did not die at the same fight as Jiang Yanli, but three months later when the clans rallied back together and led a siege on the burial mounds. In addition only Wen Qing and (supposedly) Wen Ning died then, the rest of the Wens stayed behind and they had three more months waiting for the inevitable to come.
Wei Wuxian cries once in the book.
Lan Wangji loses both of his character arcs in the book when he translates into the show. He no longer is grappling with a great love who will have the world turn against him very quickly, including his own clan that has in their very motto to be righteous, nor how to express himself to Wei Wuxian in a manner that no longer leaves doubt between them. Lan Wangji's doubt and hesitation in those times between the war and Wei Wuxian's death is still there, but it is floundering without its anchoring points. In addition since Phoenix Mountain had to be radically altered, there is no longer his own crisis of understanding when he crosses a line that he should not cross and has to make peace with the fact that even he is capable of such actions.
There is a much stronger emphasis on Wei Wuxian, Jiang Yanli and Jiang Cheng all staying together forever that is almost completely absent in the book and it is silly because it ignores the natures of the characters involved. Jiang Yanli knows she'll marry out of her clan and most likely into the Jin clan. She can't stay forever. Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng know this as well. Wei Wuxian also has a father who left the very same clan he is in now for love and that parallel is very much something that is hinted at in the book; Wei Wuxian never would have stayed in Yunmeng his whole life regardless of what happened. Also while Wei Wuxian and Jiang Yanli do have a very genuine sibling relationship and she calls him her didi (difference between shidi and didi is shidi is martial sibling or clan sibling and didi is just sibling, no distancers in play), Jiang Cheng was never really involved in that.
There is no Jiang Cheng/Wen Qing romance subplot. They meet once, she throws needles into his body to knock him out, transfers Wei Wuxian's golden core into his body while he's unconscious and they never meet again.
Lan Wangji does not become Chief Cultivator. That honor is reserved for Nie Huaisang.
And lastly, per the ending, while yes it is implied in CQL that they will meet again after some time traveling apart, that is still a radically different difference than them running away to get married, as we have in Modaozushi. An implied meeting is really not the same as eloping.
I hope that answers your questions, anon. These are just the ones I could remember after having not watched CQL in a year. I'm sure there are others.

People who say Wei Wuxian is canonically broke/poor are only going by his time after defecting from the Jiang sect and living in the burial mounds or after he gets revived. Before that, he was the head disciple of a rich clan and a brilliant cultivator who definitely did night hunts. I don't know how much he actually made from it, but he definitely wasn't broke if he was able to buy emperor's smile so often when he was only 15.

Heya! Just curious, do you have any favorite ship with yanli? I really dislike JZX and I would much rather find someone else for her bc he doesn't deserve her
┬┴┬┴┤(・_├┬┴┬┴
Jiang Yanli/Lan Xichen
Here, I'll share a rough outline I have simmering just for this, also featuring Wangxian heavily lol!
LXC/JYL PLOT POINTS
LXC instead of being near Yunping finds shelter near Meishan Yu’s territory
Due to this it's JYL who ends up finding him and worrying because he is obviously a mess
She has no idea he's LCX but knows that he is a Lan
He keeps it on the downlow about who exactly he is for safety for everyone and JYL doesn't take no for an answer since he has nowhere espe to go for recuperating
They begin to bond a bit about wanting to protect their siblings and worrying about what may have happened to them since both YMJ and GL were attacked
Eventually LXC confides in JYL about who he is and they begin a correspondence during war as he is eventually able to reunite with GL and she begins helping in the camps
Eventually during one of the war counsels for the clans LXC hears JZX griping about JYL and WWX essentially feeding into nasty rumors
LXC is the one to lose it and ends up starting a physical fight (THE SCANDAL)
JYL hears about this and asks him why he had done that, LXC goes on about how she is too good to be talked of that way as well as WWX who LWJ does respect
The Sunshot Campaign does end, but the eventual twist is that LXC announces his intentions to marry JYL (SHOT GUN WEDDING)
LQR has an almost Qi deviation about all of this but rescinds and gives in because “whatever happy nephew”
WANGXIAN PLOT POINTS
Golden Core transfer still occurs
However the biggest turning point is it being LXC having attacked JZX for the way he spoke to JYL
Due to this, LXC and WWX actually strike up a sort of friendship because of their care of JYL
This affects the way WWX begins to become slightly less guarded in regards to his opinions about LWJ since LXC is a doting brother who speaks well of LWJ
Because those 4 begin to strike up a weird little friendship again it becomes common for others to inquire about it all
JC of course gets progressively jealous about this once the war ends which leads into accusations of WWX siding more with Gusu Lan after the war to “steal what's Yunmeng Jiang” a.k.a WWX and JYL
This leads to some big fight between them that is heavily palpable when the clans are together
WWX is able to occasionally confide things in LWJ, who is still careful now in the way he listens to WWX before discussing ideas together
Wen’s being saved still happens but, due to JYL having ties with Gusu Lan instead by marriage and because of LXC’s better knowledge of WWX it is suggested that they do not provoke further desperation or resorts for this
JC is not happy about this, aka, let LWJ punch JC after the meeting because JC’s temper gets the better if him, and it mirrors what LXC did to protect JYL earlier
Instead of JC being the one to go meet and make demands of WWX, LWJ secretly goes on the request of JYL, WN is revived slightly earlier which leaves LWJ suggesting he will speak to LXC more on what can be done to let the remaining Wens continue living peacefully without the shadow of being threatened or WWX being labeled a threat
Somewhere down the line due to this it is suggested that the Wens themselves that are left be allowed to choose where to live and set up their own establishments, as under Gusu Lan’s neutral opinion and observation they aren't obviously building up a new “sect”
Not listed are the finer points of romantic build up for both and side character effects to the plot of all this, needless to say, Lan Qiren is a stubborn goat that is another hurdle to overcome. As well as the Jins trying to poke for ways to upend the very precarious peace established from this deal between Gusu Lan and Wen Qing as the remaining spokesperson of the Wens. There is an eventual core reveal as well, a la thank you Wen Ning since JC is now harassing not only Wangxian, but Lan Xichen and Jiang Yanli by accusing LXC of ulterior motives to undermine Yunmeng Jiang.

1. sorry if this is a repeat. I had an error when submitting. I can't find this though I swear I bookmarked it. WWX is fatally injured walking back from Caiyi, LWJ locks himself in the Jingshi and all anyone can hear is DEEPLY unsettling guqin music. When it stops LXC goes in braced for the worst, then finds WWX alive. LWJ had invented a new kind of demonic cultivation to revive WWX.

2. Do you know the fic where wwx goes to gusu and the lans give him a white stone to use to cleanse him of demonic cultivation? Then the stone begins to turn black? I think there might be the reveal that wwx has no golden core? I'm sorry I can't remember anything more!

3. Hello! I'm looking for a fic I read at least a year ago, maybe more, where wwx is in really bad shape when he takes the wens to the burial mounds - like combo chronic pain, starvation, depression/ptsd I think - and it's like "damn it's a good thing wen qing and her family are healers". Unfortunately I remember nothing else about the story except the wens making sure he gets as much sunshine as he can in the bm and forcing him to rest a lot. Thank you, even if you can't help! I know it's not much to go on.
Hello! I'm number 3 on post/683884721300717568! (Hopefully I did that right) Unfortunately the suggested fic "I had to abandon myself" isn't the one I was thinking of, though it WAS extremely lovely and scratched an itch for me. I really appreciate everything you do! Thank you very much!

4. Hey!! Everything y’all do is wonderful and i appreciate all the hard work you put in! I was wondering if y’all could help me find a fic. Lan Wangji is a single dad to Wen Yuan. He meets Wei Ying for the first time in a store where Wwx already knows Wen Yuan and he says wen yuan saved his life because he’d been in a really rough patch and jiang yanli or someone would send him pics of wen yuan to cheer him up. he keeps calling wen yuan a baby and lwj keeps correcting him bc he’s one so no longer a baby. that’s al i remember thanks for the help!

8. Hello, I'm looking for a fic and I hope this is where I ask.  It's a modern AU, I think it's set when wangxian are in high school but it might be earlier.  I remember that lxc and lwj are living with their parents, the parents are happy together.  It's a series I think? One of the fics is lwj and lxc retaliating against each other with petty pranks, like lwj uses up all of lxc's favorite tea and lxc replacing all of lwj's socks with cutsey cartoon socks.  Please help!
FOUND? MDZS modern AU Series by Aki_no_hikari (G, 13k, WangXian, Modern AU, Birthday Fluff, Sleepovers, Friendship, Family Feels, Family Fluff, Brotherly Bonding, bit OOC, Pining, One-Sided Attraction, or so lwj thinks)

9. Hi! Very new here and am not sure if the format. Please feel free to sternly tell me if I'm doing something wrong! C: I'm looking for a fic where wwx is kind of an empress (not 100% sure). I just remember this one scene where jgy (who I think is married to lxc) waits outside wwx palace early, knowing wwx doesn't get up early, to implicare him and make everyone think wwx is mistreating him. Thank you for your awesome recs, also!
FOUND? true gold fears no fire by defractum (nyargles) (M, 52k, wangxian, royalty au, historical au, arranged marriage, identity porn, emperor LWJ, empress WWX, pining, misunderstandings, eventual happy ending, WIP) description doesn't quite match, it's Su She lying in wait in ch 10 not JGY, but Su She is definitely acting on JGY's behalf so idk maybe

14. Hello Mods~~ I have a fic I’ve been trying to find but can’t :’( The fic is one where XuanLi, Jiang Cheng, Jin Ling, Lan Wangji and I think Nielan (maybe Nie Huaisang too?) are immortal and live on a island and Wei Wuxian was also immortal but he gave it up to save Jin Ling and later on reincarnated as A-Yuan’s adopted father and A-Yuan, Lan Jingyi and I think Ouyang Zizhen but I could be wrong, all die in a cave while on a field trip but wake up and find out they’re immortal now too, kinda like that old guards movie. Lan Wangji and Jiang Cheng I think are sent to retrieve them and Wei Wuxian shows up at the site where his kid went missing and runs into Lan Wangji but doesn’t remember him or his previous life. I remember Wei Wuxian doing some kind of array to save Jin Ling and Meng Yao I think stole it and used it to save himself by killing Nie Mingjue? and a secret basement/safe that was being kept closed by an array Wei Wuxian created. Also the junior quartet sneaking off the island while everyone was sleeping…Thank you ~^_^~

16. Hi! I hope you can help. I'm trying to find a fic that I only remember vague bits of, but maybe someone will know it. All I can remember is that WWX was at Burial Mounds and LWJ, Nie HuaiSang, and Jiang Cheng were living there too and everyone thought he had a harem. WWX and NHS were writing and illustrating dirty books and selling them pretty much and LWJ was super jealous. Thanks!

17. I'm not sure if I'm doing this right(apologies if it isn't) but I'm looking for a fic where wei ying ends up in ghost city and ended up being adopted by hualian as their little brother. Wei ying also becomes a calamity with a title of something knowing dreams. He later on timetravels back to gusu study days where only wangxian is aware that they have timetraveled. Theres also a scene where wei ying basically corrects lan qiran during class and ends up teaching the class for a bit before getting kicked out.

18. Could I maybe ask for help finding a fic? I'm fairly sure it was multi chaptered and complete. Madame yu was secretly a concubine of jin guangshan's before she married jiang fengmian. I think jiang fengmian couldn't sire children? And jiang yanli and jiang Cheng were both actually jin guangshan's though I think only madame yu knew. It comes out near the end I think. And madame yu becomes jin guangshan's concubine again and both jiang kids become servants I think? And madame yu might lose her arms maybe??? That's all I can remember thank you so much!

19. Hi! I've been looking for a fic from a while ago; its a completed fic, where WWX joins as a first responder/fire fighter. NMJ is the chief, and LWJ is one of the best medics. A couple of scenes I remember are WWX descending off a cliff to rescue YZY from a car, LWJ trying to protect A-Yuan during a tsunami, a traffic light issue causing LWJ to hit a car in an intersection with his ambulance, JGS causing issues with equipment that almost cost JZX his arm? I've tried filtering for firefighters, and natural disasters, and even modern aus over 100k, but it seems to have vanished! @rebeccabobecca

MDZS roleplay idea. If interested, DM or message on Discord Mizary#7524
The setting is the same time and same place as cannon, all except there is no Cultivation magic.
Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng go to Cloud Recesses to study martial arts. Like in cannon, Wei Wuxian stirs trouble, and tries to get all of Lan Zhan’s attention with teasing and nagging. He only studies there for three months, until he is eventually kicked out.
Years later, war strikes with the Wen clan. Wei Wuxian and Lan Zhan are reunited as they join forces. They grow close under the circumstances and trauma, watching as loved ones die and forming a friendship that leads to romance later, as they support and are there for each other. After the war ends, they start a life together. Finding peace and happiness, but it’s only temporary.
Wei Ying contracts an illness. He’s sick for days, and the doctor says there is nothing he can do. Days later, he passes, leaving Lan Zhan all alone.
Lan Zhan grieves for thirteen long years. One night, drunk and under the stars, a shooting one passes by, and Lan Zhan wishes for Wei Ying to return to him.
Days pass after his wish, and Lan Zhan wanders down a road when he hears a familiar tune. He is shocked, because the tune played only two people in this world knew it. Him and… Wei Ying!
He rushes to the sound, coming to a hilltop, where underneath a tree is Wei Ying, in a different body. But Lan Zhan, despite this knew it was him. The only thing was, this man had no memories of Lan Zhan, or who he himself was. He didn’t know his name, where he was born, what he was doing in this world. So Lan Zhan and Wei Ying go on a journey to find a way to revive his memory.

What’s your opinion on Tao Ren?
Well, I have made it quite known I'm a Tao Ren fangirl. He's one of the most interesting characters and his character development was amongst the best in the original series. I also actually low-key think Taoism has a lot of wisdom pearls and if someone were to force me to convert to a religion or else I'd be killed, I would pick Taoism as my religion as it was officially regarded as one up until the 17th century. That out of the way, I do take issue with the fact how he blames himself and takes full responsibility for his actions. I'm not saying he shouldn't have taken accountability for killing people, but at the same time he was literally a kid who didn't knew any better. As I mentioned in my post about Jeanne, I do think the Shaman King series has a problem when it comes to having children bear the full brunt of what they've done whilst the adults who taught them to murder got away with pretty much a slap on the wrist. It feels like victim-blaming children and I hate it. I also hate how he's portrayed in the sequel, like as I mentioned in my post about him and his marriage with Jeanne, it feels so damn OOC. He suffered so much as a child and despised his father for taking his childhood away, yet he is sending his SEVEN YEAR OLD SON into a deadly tournament where he cannot be revived?! Are you shitting me?! If that's not Ren doing a complete 180 in terms of his view, I don't know what is. Other then that, I have some further points of criticizing the way the sequel portrayed him. Like take his business. Those employees that HoroHoro met in Red Crimson volume 1 who were later turnt in Jiang Shi by the Dong clan were grumbling and looking dreadful. They were talking about how Ren's policies had tripled their work. Am I the only one who gets the feeling, like their wages haven't been raised fairly? With how horrible Chinese factory workers get exploited, I feel like if their wages had been raised and their work conditions also met actual proper standards, that they wouldn't have been so angry with Ren's changes. Which makes me side-eye every scene where Men flaunts his wealth like showing that he's one of the few people in the world who has a black card. What 7 year old needs that much money?! Those scenes make Ren seem like he's just as exploitive as YVS is of the general population which goes against the dream he and Jeanne have and don't even get me started on how Ren literally used to live in a home without electricity and how Jeanne would go to war conflicts with little to no personal objects yet they've raised their son to be such a spoilt brat out of touch with the lower class? Tao Ren in the original was amazing, Tao Ren in the sequel feels like it's written by someone who barely knew the original which is strange AF.

Hiya Stilton! TMAAF has so many amazing new ideas! What inspired you to write it?
Mostly, I was inspired by the way CQL ended and a couple of canonical plot points that I wanted to see explored further. Click below for a somewhat-comprehensive list:
1. Lan Xichen’s life cultivation and its association with qi deviation - this was directly adopted from Yue Qingyuan in SVSSS, who loses some of his life force every time he draws his sword.
2. Nie Shiyong - inspired by several fanworks that depicted Wei Wuxian as a fox spirit/huli jing, and by the legend of Bai Suzhen/Lady White Snake.
3. Wei Wuxian’s illness - CQL!WWX looks the same during the past and present arcs, but novel!WWX was revived in Mo Xuanyu’s body. I thought it would be interesting to weave in an explanation re: Wei Wuxian’s appearance remaining  unchanged in-verse.
4. Cultural differences between sects - these were invented as I went, with a little cursory research. Yunmeng Jiang’s background and lore was mostly used to illustrate the lifestyle/traditions of the present-day Jiang clan.
5. The existence of heavenly officials was inspired by TGCF, since TMAAF is a stealth crossover with the world of Heaven Official’s Blessing. TMAAF exists within the same universe because I wanted Lan Xichen to reunite with Nie Mingjue before his death, but after his time on the mortal plane was over.
6. The land-eater was directly inspired by the concept of Wei Wuxian dying from the backlash of destroying the Stygian Tiger Amulet.
It was also inspired by the Yi City arc, for obvious reasons.
7. Wei Wuxian’s interest in medical cultivation and social reform - this felt like a natural path for TMAAF WWX, given his personality.
8. Jiang Cheng’s character arc - most JC & WWX reconciliation fics are not for me, since they tend to focus on Jiang Cheng “forgiving” Wei Wuxian, and not on Jiang Cheng working through his baggage and moving forward by himself. Both brothers are living their own independent lives in TMAAF, and neither of them have unresolved hang-ups about their relationship with each other.
9. Wei Wuxian moving to Lotus Pier - this concept was inspired by Jin Ling’s new status at the end of MDZS. Jin Ling was nowhere near ready to govern a sect on his own, so it made sense for Jiang Cheng to move to Lanling to be with him. In TMAAF, this provided an ideal reason for Wei Wuxian to return to Yunmeng.
10. Wangxian’s relationship dynamic - I didn’t read much uncertainty from them during CQL, so I wanted to write a get-together fic where Wei Wuxian was happy and secure in his friendship with Lan Wangji for an extended period of time before they married/got together.

CQL/MDZS INSP - Yiling Arc Pt4b: Reviving Wen Ning
Wen Qing was a famous cultivator of the QishanWen Sect. She wasn't a daughter of the QishanWen Sect's leader, Wen RuoHan, but instead the daughter of one of Wen RuoHan‟s cousins.... Wen Qing was exceptional in the liberal arts and studied medicine as well. She was a talent, and thus she was rather favored by Wen RuoHan.... Wei WuXian had also heard from somewhere that she had a younger brother. But, perhaps because he wasn't as talented as Wen Qing, not many people talked about him.
Wei WuXian exclaimed, “You really are the younger brother of Wen Qing?”
Wen Ning thought that what he was surprised at about was how such an excellent, well-known sister could have such an average brother. He admitted, “Yeah. My sister is really good. I... I’m not.”
Wei WuXian said, “No, no. You're really good as well.”
-- Mo Dao Zu Shi novel, chapter 60
MY THOUGHTS & CC CREDITS
CC CREDITS
- Flute acc & pose (Reuploaded to SFS)
- Rescue pose by Danjaley
- Decor people by me (DAO, Chinese)
- ACC talismans & poses by Meng (Direct DL)
MY THOUGHTS
I literally had to redo half my screenies cuz I forgot to add the effing talismans.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
jfc, Murf.
(I tried to indicate the flashback screenies by making the border Wen clan red.)
That excerpt from the novel just shows a mere snippet of Wen Ning’s personality, and low self esteem. He suffered from a serious stutter, his cultivation powers weren’t that great, and he was very meek and shy, in sharp contrast to his Girl Boss big sister, doctor extraordinaire genius Wen Qing (AKA the Goat).
Wei WuXian was the very first person who really noticed Wen Ning for his own talents, and valued Wen Ning’s incredible loyalty and honesty and righteousness--especially his ironclad bravery in defying the Wen Sect and sneaking Jiang Cheng to safety when the Wens (aka the Fire Nation) attacked Lotus Pier.
Sadly, Wen Ning was brutally murdered later by the Jin Sect (the gold/yellow dudes), during their purge against the Wen Sect, his body dumped in a ditch and left to rot. Wen Qing asked Wei WuXian to help find her brother, and because the Jin were trying to lie and cover up their war crimes against the Wen, WWX revived Wen Ning’s corpse to attack the truly guilty ones, and Wen Ning’s corpse went ballistic on the Jin--years of repressed anxiety and low self esteem and anger bursting out of him after he died and filling “The Ghost General” with resentful energy.
Thus, WWX used the Stygian Tiger Seal to seal Wen Ning away, while he tried to revive his consciousness so he wouldn’t be stuck as just a mindless bloodthirsty zombie; and returned his friend to the kind boy he once was.
I can’t with this effing story.
Happy Halloween.

This is a brand-new pinned post.
Hiya~ I'm Piyo or Pyon, whichever you find cuter. I am in my early 20's and my pronouns are he/him, also she/her with my permission.
@dekupyon is my second account but I've decided to revive my main, which is this, to move here and use it full-time with proper tagging. The last time I've been active on fandom Tumblr was late 2015 as I've spent most of my fandom days on Twitter.
Twitter account is here, feel free to follow me there as well.
My current interests are J.R.R. Tolkien's legendarium and Tomarry + Harrymort from the Harry Potter series.
A wild combination, I know.
Came for Maglor, stayed for Russingon and Kidnap Fam as well as the occasional Maedhros + Elured & Elurin.
I also adore Padfoot & Prongslet, Regulus Black, and Barty Crouch Jr. but do not ask me for more. And if you truly must know, I'm a Slytherclaw.
I dabble in HP crossover fics as well and will read just about anything that is written well.
I call myself a writer but in actuality, I only fantasize about what I want to write in my head. I do have an AO3 account though. My fics are in desperate need to be watered with kudos and comments.
My asks are always open, as well as anon, but please do not abuse it and remember to always be kind. I am a chill person who digress and fail to be funny most of the time.
I'd like to end this post by gently reminding everyone that you have the power to curate your own online space and all you need to do is utilize that power instead of harassing/policing others.
If you want to know more about me, please check under the cut.
My other interests include the Persona game franchise, a cozy nook in the MCU, and MXTX's novels.
Persona
Currently playing Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers.
There is no third semester in Persona 5. Which just means I have yet to finish P5R because I'm too lazy to play the vanilla segment all over again.
I played P3P (both MC and FeMC routes), P4G, and vanilla P5. My favorite and first game is P5 but I will cry over P3 at the drop of a hat. P4 is my least fave and no, I did not forget and will play SMT:P, P2:IS, and P2:EP soon.
My OTPs are Akeshu, Minaryo, and Kannao.
Marvel Cinematic Universe
#Team Iron Man, even though it has been more than 5 years since the movie was released and no one asked.
FrostIron is my OTP. My other favorite pairings are IronStrange and IronWinter.
Does Peter Parker or Harley Keener is Tony Stark's son?
Mo Xiang Tong Xiu
This is NOT a Jiang-clan friendly account.
I do not split HuaLian and WangXian. But I am flexible when it comes to BingQiu. Case in point, BinggeYuan and LiuShen. I ship MoShang and LiuJiu as well, and the occasional BingJiu.
It is always Wu Ming loving hours here and if I could put #HuaLian different first meeting content in my mouth, I would.
What do you mean there's no #transmigration reveal in post-canon BingQiu?
Yi City arc, best arc.
teeny tiny Q&A
What does your name mean?
Piyo (ピヨ) is the Japanese onomatopoeia of a chick while Pyon (ぴょん) is the Japanese sfx for hopping.
What does your username mean?
Village Bridge is my favorite location in Pokemon Black & White. The tasogare part is the reason why it’s my fave!
What are your previous usernames?
voidnico, s-assan, k-uroken, nsfwkuroo (which is my most recent).
What application do you use for editing?
Then, Adobe Photoshop CS6. Now, CC 2018.

You know the rest.
So the roles are this:
Male Leads:
1st- Jin Zixuan, the Crown Prince of the Jin Empire
2nd- Song Lan, the loyal bodyguard of the deceased sixth prince, Mo Xuanyu. And lover of the (dead) Xiao Xinghen.
3rd- Wen Xu, the son of the Archduke Wen Ruohan/ Antagonist
4th- Nie Mingjue, War General

Jin Guangshan, Emperor
Ling Jian (Madame Jin), Empress
Jin Zixuan, Crown Prince
Jin Guangyao, Second Prince
Mo Xuanyu, 6th Prince
Jin Su(Qin Su), 1st Princess
(9 children in total: 7 princes and 2 princesses, others r ocs)
(13 concubines: Meng Shi (jgy mum), Mo Fan (mxy mum), Cai Yuan (js mum) others r ocs)
/
GusuLan
The Lan clan are known for the strong soldiers their military produces, and the geniuses that ascend to scholars.
Lan Wangji, Military General. (Li Yong's childhood best friend)

Lan Jingyi, young warrior under Song Lan's tutelage.
/
QingheNie
Nie Huaisang, Scholar of the Six Arts. (Deputy Head of Nie)
Nie Mingjue, War General.
/
YunmengJiang
Jiang Wanyin, Border General.
Jiang Yanli, Matriarch of Jiang. (Supposed Villainess)
/
Nmj, Jwy, n' Lwj are known as the three great generals.
/
QishanWen (antagonist)
Used to be the imperial family until they were overthrown. Wrh built up his clan and gained his noble title at a young age, but the wens are out of jin's control.
Wen Ruohan, Archduke
Wen Xu, heir to the title.
Wen Chao, just an asshole
/
DafanWen
Former baron household under the Wen clan. Defected and are now in hiding.
Wen Qing, she's studying medicine in the same academia LY's is in with the alias surname of 'Mu'.
Wen Ning, training soldier.
/
Others
Luo Qingyang, the female lead's bodyguard in the original story, but wwx snatched her before the story started.
Song Lan, Mxy's bodyguard now and then.

This isn't based on any real monarchy, it's fiction no accuracy can be found in any of my posts lol.

I keep on thinking about how for all I think it’s pretty obvious that Wei Wuxian giving his core to Jiang Cheng was an act of love, the actual reasons he gives out loud for it are basically the saddest ones imaginable. He tells Jiang Cheng it’s what he owed the Jiangs, for taking him in. He tells Wen Qing that his brother won’t survive without a core; he’s stubborn and competitive and unyielding, and he’ll break before he bends. Wei Wuxian can handle the loss so he’ll take the hit. He’ll lie to his brother about it afterwards because he doesn’t think he can cope with the truth and doesn’t want to watch him be sad. Wei Wuxian breaking his promise and leaving the Jiangs behind, on the other hand- it’s a sacrifice, it’s about doing what’s right by vulnerable people who need him, who he feels indebted to, but it’s also about trusting Jiang Cheng to handle himself without Wei Wuxian, and believing that he can protect their people and their sister. Leaving is in and of itself a rejection of the idea that the primary thing between him and the Jiangs is debt and obligation; if he’s free to go, then he was also free to stay, and that means staying was something he chose for himself, because he loves his family and his home. I don’t want to shitpost myself into a hole here but I think leaving might actually have been the better big gesture.
#wei wuxian#jiang cheng#the untamed#no one is every doing anything for just one reason#but i will die on the hill of wei wuxian wanting the jiang to be revived every bit as much as yanli and jiang cheng do#and for all wei wuxian undervalues himself as a person who is loved and many people would like alive and talking to them#he is very sure of his own competence and not always particularly generous about other people's capabilities#leaving their clan to yanli and jiang cheng#and ok yes also a piece of himself that he's left behind to keep them safe#is a big deal#trusting Jiang Cheng with Yanli and Yanli with Jiang Cheng is more than their parents ever managed#ok tho i will admit that if i ever found out my brother had#idk given me his one functioning kidney when i thought i was getting the standard kidney transplant deal#because he thought i couldn't handle dialysis#and then lied to me about it while sneaking around dealing with the medical consequences and leading me to believe that all of his flaking#and weird behaviour were about him just kind of being a dick#i would have some feelings about that#they would be loud#big#feelings#also though wwx is basically the only character who does the whole big elaborate lie for your own good thing who i really feel for#in terms of his decision making; jfm and madam yu's bullshit coupled with watching his people be slaughtered is just such a perfect storm#of terribleness. I am not surprised that he was willing to do whatever the fuck it took to make sure jc came out of that clusterfuck safe#and whole and experiencing minimal suicidal ideation#wwx staring down at his brother realizing that he means it when he says he wants to die#right after witnessing the death of almost everyone else he loved#and being blamed for it#make your choices bb it's gonna go badly for u but i'm not going to judge

jiang cheng did what he had to do and it may not be the popular choice, but it was the only choice for his clan's survival and revival.
