“You broke it again?”
His voice sounds flat, but there's a tinge of hope, a sense of subdued anticipation perking his last few syllables.
Sieun stares at the half-solved integral on his desk, phone pressed to his cheek, screen cold against his skin, fingers loosely gripping the sides. The warm glow of his lamp casts a nimbus over the mess made of a barely punched in calculation and his calculus textbook, pages worn from flipping back and forth between the chapter problem sets and appendix answers. Outside his window, the campus sky is dim, too gray for six in the evening.
“I didn’t break it!” Your voice crackles through the line, scratchy with frustration. Sieun can hear your breath over the receiver, rough and rushed.
“It just won’t turn on,” you continue, “I don’t know what happened. I just opened my tabs, and then—dead.”
He exhales. “And you tried plugging it in?”
“Yes, Sieun. I tried everything you taught me—nothing worked,” you huff, “I have an essay due Monday, and everything I need to write it is on this damn laptop.”
You sound slightly breathless, your voice hoarse with the kind of air that clings to lungs on chilly evenings. Wind rushes past the speaker, muddling your words with static. Sieun’s ears pick up on this.
“Where are you,” he asks, dull, but more abrupt than intended.
You’re silent for a few beats.
“Outside.” Another gust of wind bleeds through the receiver.
He feels the warmth of perspiration prick across his palms. “Where?”
The brisk, hollow rustle of plastic, and then, “Walking to your dorm.”
Sieun feels his breath dissipate in the back of his throat.
“I’m sorry,” you start. Sieun squeezes his eyes upon hearing these words in your soundwaves, words he thought were too unnecessary when masked in your voice.
“I saw the forecast, there’s going to be rain—shoot, I forgot my umbrella, I knew I was forgetting something—anyways, I figured I'd head over to yours before it hit,” there’s an unmistakable sincerity in your voice, “I really need you right now, Sieun.”
Need to murder him, he thought. Clearly, that was more fitting for the illusive objective of your last sentence, one that roused his hand to the back of his neck, called his fingers to smooth over his golden skin, wailed for them to curl against his flesh in hopes of helping him get a grip of himself. Literally.
He sighs, half flustered, half enlivened. “You’ll be here soon?”
“Yeah, just five minutes more.”
There’s a pause. “Okay.”
A quick exhale breaks past your lips, a restrained puff of air that had been trapped in the back of your throat, waiting for a green light to let it loose. “Thank you, Sieun.”
He can still feel the ghost of icy plastic against his cheek when you cut the call. Unfocused eyes cloud over the sheets and pens and smudged writing lazing atop his desk.
Of course.
Of course you’re coming over. Because why wouldn’t you? Your laptop’s dead, and he’s the tech guy, and this is just what happens. He fixes things.
And right now, you need him to fix your things. He couldn’t help but feel his heart jump at the idea, an eagerness creeping into his chest, fogging up his lungs and grabbing hold of the air that dared to escape up his trachea.
Sieun, as cold as he seemed, felt warmth fixing your things, like he’d swallowed the sun and it dissolved into his blood. Unlike the peers on your campus, he does it for you free-of-charge—hell, he thinks he’d pay you just to let him fidget around with your laptop’s battery that burns to touch or the program functions you can’t seem to figure out even after using the ‘help’ tab. He’d never admit to it though.
Not yet, at least.
His eyes flicker to the unfinished problem adorning his notebook, numbers and symbols half-formed, abandoned mid-line. The solution sits just out of reach.
Much like you.
His unfinished integral mocks him.
Your cheeks are flushed, supple and radiant, the dermal symptom of cool drizzle and dewy autumn air. Sieun’s eyes surf the strands of your hair, glinting from subtle rain droplets that catch even in the dim fluorescent light of his dorm hallway.
You look small like this in his doorway, backpack straps sagging over your shoulders, your sweater sporting little wet spots that are sure to smell like petrichor. Your hands tightly clutch a white plastic bag to your abdomen, the vertices of a cardboard box poking out at him.
You smile at him, small and sweet and a little flustered. “There was some drizzle when I turned onto your lane.”
Sieun’s gaze, currently traveling across the ridges tenting your plastic bag, snaps to your face.
“Oh.” It’s a soft expression, a barely-there phoneme he manages through concern for you—how dare the clouds cry over your angel face?—and some muffled curiosity.
Sieun just can’t help the fall of his gaze. He stares blankly at the bag in your hands. He’s not surprised when you take notice.
“It’s brownie mix!”
He peers at you again.
“Brownies?”
You grin sheepishly, fiddling with the plastic handles. “Yeah, I thought, well– you work so hard, you deserve a fun break, one you can get a sweet treat out of!” You pause. “And, I guess it’s also thanks for my laptop. You’ve saved me a lot of money I already don’t have, more than once now.”
He’s still staring at you, face blank, unreadable, lips sealed in a line, but his eyes gleamed. Whether it was annoyance or humour, you weren’t sure, but his dreamy, tired eyes gleamed.
Your eyes go wide. “Oh gosh, I should’ve asked you if brownies were okay. They looked so good on the box, I just had to pick them up. You could be allergic to chocolate, or maybe you don’t even like brownies–”
“Brownies are cool.”
Sieun watches your lips halt their rambling, configured mid-sentence, before they slowly spread into a toothy grin, one that radiates a warm feeling into his bones and almost—almost—makes his lip twitch up to match yours.
All you needed to do was force start.
That’s all.
No hardware to trifle with, no delinquent software meddling with your computer programs.
All Sieun had to do was press a couple buttons in tandem before your screen lit back up to life, resurrected from its cry of wolf.
Your cheeks had heated, bashful from your ignorance, but also a little humoured.
They blazed further when you caught sight of the calculus massacre on his desk, hurried apologies spilling past your pretty lips to wash out the guilt that crawled up your chest.
Sieun reassured you all was well—It’s fine, I was almost done anyways—with a look in his eyes that had you capitulating to his sincerity.
“Can I repay you with brownies?” you had prompted, fingers twiddling behind your back as if it would have subliminally helped rouse the answer you sought after.
Sieun slowly flattened your laptop to a shut before his Bambi eyes peaked at you and whispered exactly what you needed to know, exactly what you wanted to hear.
So, you’d both clambered in his tiny, cozy dorm kitchen, ingredients and bowls and utensils scattered across granite, instructions serenading the walls in your voice, Sieun’s hands working to mix the dark sea of cocoa batter.
You had assumed the role of a conductor but managed to pull a mess over you like a magnet. Whatever hadn’t been mixed into the warm batch of brownies basking atop Sieun’s countertop had found consolation on your being—cocoa powder and melted butter and drying batter decorated your skin and sweater.
Sieun thought it was the cutest thing he’d ever seen.
Of course, Sieun had missed any defiant ingredient attacks entirely.
You’d both picked up a piece each, melted chocolate furnishing your mouths while Sieun, starry-eyed and attentive, listened to you babble about your stress baking and how, no matter the many times you made something, you’d always be left with a bit of a messy souvenir from the process.
It was during this instance when the rain had hit.
Hard and harsh and pattering ferociously against the window of his measly living room. You and Sieun had snapped your heads at the sound, sticky embellishments of chocolate coating your fingers.
You’d looked so worried, so consumed in the thought of how you’d walk home through what was practically a typhoon. You hadn’t checked for a storm warning, all you’d known was a chance of rain. Your umbrella wouldn’t have stood a chance.
You’d looked so worried, so it felt almost natural when Sieun suggested you just stay over.
“...Really?” Your eyes were breaking past their sockets, and Sieun had nerely felt the weight of his words crash over him until your orbs softened and he saw the ghost of a smirk brush past your lips.
“Yeah, you can’t get home through that,” his voice had been tinged with his radiation of care for you. His eyes swept over your chocolate-covered frame. “You can use my shower if you want. I’ll give you some clean clothes to wear.”
You’d obliged. Quite happily.
And now, Sieun sat at his desk, unfinished integral staring up at him, the muted sound of his shower silking through the wall, almost louder than the merciless storm outside his window.
Sieun hadn’t touched his sheets or pens since he’d retreated to his room, changed into his own set of nightwear, and lowered himself into his desk chair. He couldn’t focus.
How could he? When you were just a dozen feet away, naked and wet under the rush of his shower.
He knew he shouldn’t think about it, begged himself not to, but when his mind slipped over the way you had chocolate powder flowering your neck and underneath your sweater, he couldn’t help but let his mind run, just a little.
Run over the way your fingers probably tucked under the bottom of your sweater, dragging it up along your beautiful body and over your head. What had you worn underneath? Had you even worn anything?
In Sieun’s little fantasy, you hadn’t. You’d been bare for him under your clothes, and he’d been ready, quick to ravish you, to kiss and suck and bite at your warm skin.
But, that was just a fantasy.
In reality, it didn’t matter whether or not you’d worn anything underneath your sweater. Sieun had just helped you out, made things a little easier for you, eased your anxiety by offering an innocent sleepover so you wouldn’t have to sacrifice yourself to what was the making of an ocean outside his dorm.
It didn’t matter, just like his integral, still unfinished. Deferred. Mocking.
The blood had barely made it to his cock before it was rushing back to his brain.
A couple minutes more of unsuccessfully undressing the math symbols littering his half-blank page and you were padding your way into his room, feet bare, heels marginally lifted off the cold floor of his dorm. Your clothes were folded, carried atop your forearms, and your cute body was swallowed in his t-shirt and shorts, sleeves too long, neck hole too wide, fabric swaying just over your knees with each of your scampered steps.
You gaze at Sieun from the edge of his bed, clothes now tucked away in your backpack, the hem of his shirt twirling in your fingers.
God, Sieun thought you looked ethereal, bare-faced and in his clothes. The warm, mellow glow of his desk lamp illuminates your face like a halo. Your sweet angel eyes are drowning him far past the storm outside.
Sweet oblivious angel eyes. If only they could see the mess he’d made of you in his head.
“Are you ready to sleep, or do you want to study some more?” Your voice is so soft, so melodious bouncing within the confines of his skull, and your eyes twinkle just right, brightened from his lamp and the mere cast of moonlight simmering through his window.
“I’m done,” Sieun starts, “You take the bed. I’m going to sleep in the living room.”
He’s about to push himself up when you cross your cute arms, defiant and determined. He watches your eyes narrow, eyebrows dip with a scrunch.
“Absolutely not!” you chide, your squint piercing. Sieun stares, half stood. He sits back down.
“It’s not fair to you! I showed up, practically unannounced, had you press a couple buttons on my laptop because I was too incompetent to figure it out myself, then made you make brownies with me against your will since you don’t take any economic compensation! And I know you’re not done with your problem set, I can see it from here. It’s exactly how you left it before we made those godforsaken brownies! I completely butted into your evening and messed up your studying, so you best believe you’ll be sleeping in your own bed and getting a good night’s rest!”
You puff at the end, like you’d said it in one breath, forearms glued to each other, fingers digging into your biceps.
Sieun is still staring at you, face blank, eyes gentle.
“You’re not incompetent.”
You blink.
“That’s not the point, Sieun.” You huff, pointing to his blankets.
“Now, get to bed.”
His eyes flick, your attention on his bed now shared. There’s an ease in the air, one that helps to hoist Sieun from his desk chair, click his lamp off, and carry himself over to the side of his bed. He lifts the corner of his duvet, slides underneath, and lets it fall over him. All without a peep.
His eyes scan to your frame, still at the edge of his bed, still in his too-baggy clothes, still looking too ethereal for him to indulge below the moonlight’s gaze, even in your quarrelsome stance.
You stare back at him.
“Okay… good.” You sound stifled, almost suspicious of his obedience.
Your arms unclasp, a little dazed at how fast he’d listened to you. With a hesitant scratch to your neck, you shuffle to what would be your side of Sieun’s bed, just for tonight.
Even though Sieun wishes it could be a less transient arrangement.
But he was doing this to help you.
Afterall, you’d looked so worried.
Sieun watches your warm body roll onto his mattress, feels it dip with your added weight from across. You shamble to face him, the duvet bunching in your hands, a relaxed, content tilt gracing your lips. Your cheek presses against the pillow, eyes squinting with warmth and kindness and gratitude and what Sieun could describe as a fatally contagious ray of tranquility.
You look so sweet like this, cuddled into his bed in clothes—his clothes—that swallow your body whole. The rain had slowed, granting permission to an even larger crowd of moonlight to flow over your face.
Sieun thought you were unreal, a mythical being from a dreamy world far beyond the current celestial limits.
A mythical being who saw him only for his technological abilities.
You were only here for tonight. Sieun was just helping you.
Because you had looked so worried.
So, he rolls onto his side, nearing the edge of the bed, hands tittering close to an abyss.
“Goodnight,” he grumbles. He doesn’t bother to pull the duvet to his front, lets it hang just over his side, as if any extra movement would make him appear more visible to you.
You gape at his back.
“Sieun!”
Sieun closes his eyes. Perhaps the world around him wouldn’t see him if he couldn’t see the world.
You puff, a frustrated push of air that has Sieun squinting his eyes shut further. He feels the duvet minutely ruffle behind him, feels the dip of the mattress sink gradually.
“I don’t get it, are you actually upset?” Although you were quiet, you sounded so disgruntled, confused. Sieun could only wish he was better at this so he wouldn’t have to bear your honey-like voice convey such emotion, like thrones stuck in a cloud.
But, Sieun was Sieun. A man of minimal words who spoke the truth and nothing but—until now.
“No, just trying to get a good night’s rest.” Just trying to keep my mind off you, so close, for just one night.
“Ugh! Will you just turn around so I can talk to you?”
Your hand reaches out and grips the collar of Sieun’s shirt, a tight grip pulling him towards you, a gentle grip to avoid attempted murder.
His eyes pop open, a hand catching onto the taut fabric around his neck. If there was the slightest chance Sieun’s conscious was to succumb to strangulation tonight, he thinks he’d only remember the warmth of your fingers fogging over the back of his neck.
Sieun yields to your force, falling onto his back. Why are you so damn strong?
With a hatch of his neck, his eyes find yours in the dark room, the patch of moonlight from his window dimmed from the roar of thunder and familiar strikes of heavy droplets against the glass.
There’s light provocation simmering through your face, playful like a child in a game of tag.
“Talk about what?” His voice is quiet but firm, his body a statue sandwiched between the mattress and sheets, daring not to move a millimeter.
You peer at him, words hanging along the tip of your tongue, as if debating whether they were worth speaking into the medium shared between your beings.
You decide they are.
“I know you take a fee from others when you fix their laptops.” There’s a quirk in his neck, a twitch at the corner of his lips that urges you further. “You’ve never taken one from me, even when I mention it. Why is that?”
Sieun feels a gradual quickening of his heartbeat at this concoction of your voice, and, like the start of a tornado, the thoughts in his head rampage into a whirlwind.
To be or not to be? Sieun, who previously seemed to lack any cognitive resources to solve his monster integral, was now calculating his next move with rigorous intricacy.
Maybe it was the kick in adrenaline that had him instigating your little game.
Sieun chose to be.
“Why do you think?”
Your eyes narrow in an instant, the entire play a chain reaction. Were you also debating your next actions, words? Were you also aware of the string snapping taut between you, tense and nearing a strong, sudden tear?
Sieun definitely was. Like always, he knew what he was getting himself into, knew he was igniting something far beyond repair, unlike the many laptops he’d resurrected.
Sieun knew what he’d started. He’d calculated it, perhaps from the very beginning, from the moment he uttered the word “stay.”
He was just helping you, for one night. Just one night.
You’d looked so worried, of course.
Perhaps Sieun had wanted your eyebrows to furrow from another force of nature—him.
Say something.
A quirk to your lips. Dark shadows in your eyes.
And a hand reaching out for his neck, this time to pull him to the plushest centre of your visage.
His lips graze the fullness of yours when you whisper in a breath.
“I knew to force start.”
Sieun isn’t spared a chance to retaliate his sockets stretching back when you press into him.
The dense pressure molds his own lips flush against yours, an electric fog swarming your face and down the flanks of your neck.
It’s a reflex, an abrupt, consuming, greedy reflex, when his arm curls over your back, big hand hastily grazing along your spine to knot into your hair.
Had Sieun fallen asleep?
This has to be a dream.
But your lips were too soft against his, too warm.
And your back curved so well along his forearm, strands so luxurious curled around his fingers.
Your hand on his chest, basking down his torso… Sieun believes he doesn’t possess even a speckle of the imagination required to muster a feeling as heavenly as that.
Definitely not enough to muster a feeling as heavenly as your hand sliding over him through his thin flannel pajamas.
You were a fallen angel who had come to play unsacred games.
And Sieun proved to be a worthy opponent.
His fingers grip around the base of your skull to pull you from his lips.
His eyes are heavy with a murmur of inquisition, flitting over your lips before boring into your own with words unspoken. You mirror his gaze with equal weight, savouring his quiet inhale when you push further down over his hardening curve, feathering your hand up to rest against the supple part of his abdomen.
“You know where this is going.” It was a statement, a quiet, breathless, almost restrained mutter carrying all the responsibility and uncertainty and anticipation littered within Sieun.
You gaze, knowing, unbothered.
“This is what you want? This is what you came for?”
“Yes,” you whisper, “Take it as part of my thanks.”
“I thought the brownies were your thanks.”
You smirk. “That was just the appetizer.”
Sieun scoffs quietly, a humble pfft to accompany the fingers gently rubbing over the bottom of your scalp, a means of easing into his next utterance.
You were drowning in his milk chocolate orbs, a velvety sea full of nothing but care and adoration and awe for you.
“Are you sure you want to go further?” Any quieter and the storm battering upon his window would have drowned his sound completely.
“Yes, Sieun.”
That was everything he needed to hear.
A gentle push to your neck has your lips pressing back into the plushness of his own.
It’s a slow kiss, chaste but blazing with the need you’d both been bearing for months. You move against the other, the ghost of anticipation urging you further into it.
Sieun definitely is not dreaming.
All his prior frustration, graced from his still unsolved practice set and the many long, agonizing weeks of indirect contact with you, melts away, leaving a tender warmth to dry in its place. Your lips feel as soft as—no, they were softer, so much softer, and warm like sun rays on cold skin—the many times he’d imagined the ghost of them wisping against his.
A transient ghost, barely lasting a mere tortuous ten seconds. He’d stop himself from savouring it, pry the ghost away before his hopes shot higher than the sky above him.
But now, you were here, tangible, with your mortal lips on his. They were so supple, so plush and warm and real. And they were flush against his. No one else but him.
Sieun had spent so long denying your fabricated being, the one who would distract him from his problem sets, urge him to isolate from the many gadgets his peers would throw his way in times of technological misfortune.
Sieun decided it was finally time to show you what your ghost had been doing to him.
He sucks in your bottom lip, hands grazing over your hips to pull you over his growing hardness with a delicate hold, treating your vessel like original vintage artwork. Fragile. Authentic. Godly.
The duvet shifts against your back while you shift over him, the core of your heat finding solace over his own. The hem of his borrowed t-shirt rides up your torso like it knows what’s coming.
It’s an abrupt, consuming, visceral feeling when you first connect with the stiff rod bulging against the stressed material of Sieun’s pajamas.
It’s the same for Sieun, so when a small groan muses from the depths of his throat at the feeling of your heat radiating along his length, he remains basking in its aftermath.
Lips still working into each other, you almost don’t acknowledge the slow, tantalizing roll of your hips.
Sieun does, and it drives him crazy.
Sieun, who was always so cool, composed, and distant was now growing hot and undone, all while pressing himself further into you, meeting you at an undefined middle, ridding any and all separation from your heating bodies from the insufferable vexation of need.
His hands knead into your hips, bearing your heat further along him, before they configure to push himself up while embracing you flush against his chest.
You’re consuming him, physically and mentally. Your lips on his, your body wrapped tightly around his own, hot cunt slowly grinding over the hard curve of his cock, a barrier of too much fabric plastered between your beings and pushing you both into frustrated desperation.
Your name, your scent, the suppleness of your skin, they all fog his head, conquer it with the ghost of you.
Both your mortal and immortal forms had possessed him, consumed him whole until he was nothing but a spec of utter devotion to you and you only.
Your hips grind again, slow, sinful, and Sieun’s breath stutters against your mouth.
You feel the shiver that rebounds through him like a tremor, feel the tight grip of his hands at your waist falter before steadying again, tighter this time, as if he needs to anchor you, or maybe himself.
His lips leave yours only to trail hot, desperate, open-mouthed kisses along your jaw, your neck, your crescent of skin beyond the shirt’s collar, the devotion in each press of his mouth turning you molten.
“You feel…” he murmurs, barely audible, like he’s speaking to himself, “…too good. Too good to be real.”
You tilt your hips forward again, slower, answering him with equal desperation, and Sieun’s head tips back, a ragged exhale pulling from his throat. The sight strikes you—his lashes trembling, his brows knit together in pleasure so raw it borders on pain. He looks ruined.
Kiss-swollen lips and flushed cheeks, shades of pink colonizing his visage in the shower of eventide luminosity.
You don’t realize you’ve gasped until his gaze finds you again, pupils blown wide and gleaming with disbelief. His thumbs rub along your hip bones, a fragrant sensation even through the fabric of his shorts you adorned.
Your hands glide under his shirt, pushing up until he’s reaching for the edge himself, prying the shirt past his head and letting the fabric fall to the cold hardwood beneath his bed.
His hands slip beneath the hem of your own, and his touch is hesitant, wavering, like he’s afraid you’ll vanish if he reaches too far.
“Can I…?” he asks, voice husky and threadbare, already tugging at the fabric.
You nod. His hands glide up, slow and reverent, brushing over the curves and valleys he’s only ever imagined, each touch leaving heat in its wake.
He drinks in the sight of you like he’s been thirst-starved for days, gentle eyes falling over your face and down to your taut peaks. You weren’t a ghost anymore—you were a dream, glowing and radiant beneath the muted haze of damp moonlight.
And when your bare chest presses to his, skin to skin, nothing between you but the thundering pace of your hearts, Sieun chokes out a soft, desperate moan.
The ghost of you has vanished.
What remains is you—real and soft and warm and all his.
And he’s no longer a boy haunted by longing. He’s a man who’s finally allowed to feel.
Your fingers find the nape of his neck, weaving into the soft strands of his hair, and the sound he lets out—broken, hushed, completely unguarded—settles somewhere deep in your chest.
Sieun’s lips return to yours with more urgency now, less caution, the kind that only comes when desire and restraint blur into the same overwhelming thing. His tongue traces your bottom lip before slipping inside, gentle, exploratory, worshipping, like he’s memorizing you.
Every movement of his hips under you is hesitant but needy, as if he’s still trying to slow himself down, still trying to process that you’re not slipping away.
“You’re driving me insane,” he whispers against your mouth, voice hoarse and cracking like lightning behind the storm-glassed windows.
He kisses you again, softer now, almost like an apology for how his hands are now gripping at the swell of your thighs with mounting desperation.
Then, with a breath that shakes against your lips, Sieun pulls back. Only just.
“Lie back,” he murmurs, voice low, thick with something you’ve never heard from him before. Anticipation, maybe. Hunger, definitely.
You do, painfully unlatching from his warmth and sinking into the pillow behind you.
Sieun follows, crawling down the length of your body like a man crossing sacred ground, his drowsy gaze never leaving you. It lingers on the slope of your neck, the lines of your collarbone, the tender stretch of skin bare to the cool air of his bedroom. Each inch he memorizes like scripture, utterly fascinated and unspeakably enamoured.
“You’re…” he begins, almost too quiet to even comprehend, but trails off, like no word quite fits what you are to him.
And then you see it. The way adoration turns to ache.
A valley of creases between his brows, a marginal slit parting his pout, the quickened wisps of air trailing out of him. He’s wrecked, far past.
And you had barely touched him.
Sieun’s hands slide up your thighs, calloused fingertips brushing along the waistband of the very shorts he lent you, the ones riding too low on your hips, the ones he's dreamed about you in far too many nights to count.
He kisses the inside of your knee.
Then your thigh.
Then the soft dip just above your hip bone.
His hands move, thumbs hooking into the waistband. There’s a beat—one last, wordless check—and then he draws them down.
And stops breathing.
You’re bare beneath them. No panties. Just slick, glistening proof of how long you’ve wanted this too.
“Fuck,” he breathes, like it’s been torn from him. His jaw goes slack, eyes shadowed with affection and disbelief. “You didn’t wear—?”
He doesn't finish. He can't.
His hands twitch.
You’ve rendered Yeon Sieun speechless.
Sieun blinks once, twice, like he’s trying to process the sight before him, trying not to let it undo him entirely.
But it does.
It does.
He swallows hard, jaw flexing as his eyes drag along the slick sheen glistening between your thighs, warm and glimmering and pooling out of you sans constraint.
His hands settle on your hips again, firm, needy, desperate.
“You’ve been like this this whole time?” he whispers, voice hoarse, eyes flickering up to meet yours, the question half-shattered already. “Wearing my shorts… like this?”
You don’t have time to answer.
Because Sieun leans in, drawn like a man starved, mouth ghosting just above your heat and breathing you in.
His composure fractures there.
A low, guttural sound breaks from his throat as he presses a slow, devoted kiss to your core. Just one.
Then another. Then again, deeper, wetter, until his tongue slides through your dampened heat with a shuddering groan of restraint and craving colliding all at once.
Your hips twitch and Sieun’s grip tightens instinctively, his fingers digging into your waist to anchor you to him like you might vanish otherwise.
His tongue moves again, slow and patient, still trying to worship even while losing his mind.
But you’re so wet, and he’s so gone.
Each soft moan that slips from your lips draws another shaky exhale from him, each roll of your hips a crack in his control.
He tries to keep it measured. Gentle.
But then he hears you gasp his name, all broken and raw, and something inside him snaps.
His pace quickens.
He licks into you deeper, more desperate, tongue flicking, flattening, circling like he’s chasing a high that stubbornly runs just a step out of his reach. His nose brushes your clit and he doesn’t even think to pull back.
He wants it all.
You feel his moan against you, deep and wrecked, and you realize:
Sieun isn’t composed anymore.
He’s hungry.
Possessed.
And completely, unbearably devoted to the taste of you.
You’re gasping now, each breath shallower than the last, and Sieun can feel you trembling beneath his palms.
It spurs him on, wrecks him in ways he never knew were possible.
His thumbs rub slow circles into your hips, as if to soothe you, steady you, but his mouth is relentless, nose tirelessly working into your nub. His tongue is languid one moment, then firmer the next, lapping through your folds with aching, focused precision, memorizing all that makes you fall apart.
You roll into a nimble arch, head tipping back, and your thighs quiver where they rest over his shoulders.
“Sieun—” you whimper.
His name breaks in your throat, and that’s what crumbles him.
He groans into you again, the vibration shooting straight through your core as he licks you harder now, deeper, more rhythmic, mouth coaxing you right to the edge, right to the place he’s been aching to take you.
His hands are cradling your hips now, keeping you spread open, helpless, vulnerable, his.
And then he whispers it, barely audible, a prayer into your skin.
“Come for me.”
Your breath catches.
“Let me taste all of you,” he mumbles again, like he’s asking for divinity, like your pleasure is holy.
And when you finally do, when your body tenses and your thighs clamp tight around his head and that beautiful cry of his name leaves your lips, Sieun doesn’t stop.
He groans into you, licking you through it, drinking it in like he’s never tasted something more sacred.
Like he’s never belonged more to anything—anyone—than he does to you in this moment.
And even after the tremors still, even when you’re limp and gasping and glowing beneath him, he keeps kissing you softly, as if he can’t bear to let you go just yet.
As if this is how he says I’ve wanted you like this forever.
You’re still panting when he pulls back, lips slick and pink, eyes hooded and blown wide with awe. He looks stunned. Disheveled. Like a man undone by worship.
But you, squirming and aching and desperate to have all of him, manage to find your voice.
“Sieun,” you whisper, reaching for him. Your fingers trail along his jaw, coaxing him up until he’s hovering over you again. “I want more.”
His breath hitches.
Your palm slides over his chest, feeling the rapid beat of his heart beneath his ribs. “I want you inside me.”
Sieun stills completely.
And then his eyes close, jaw tightening as if your words alone could undo the last shreds of his composure.
“Fuck,” he breathes, voice rough with disbelief.
He kisses you, not hard, not hurried, but slow and deep, like it’s all he can do to keep from losing control. You savour the heady taste of your slick coating his lips. He presses his forehead to yours, and mutters shakily, “One second.”
You watch as he reaches for the drawer beside his bed and pulls out a condom from the crumpled blue box Hu-min had shoved at him weeks ago with a stupid grin and no explanation.
He’d meant to throw them out. He hadn’t.
He tears the foil open with controlled fingers and slides his flannels and boxers off his body, finally bearing himself free.
He’s thick, flushed, already leaking from the tip. He hisses under his breath as he rolls the condom on, fingers twitching like he’s barely holding it together.
When he settles between your thighs, eyes drowning in your sight, the air changes.
Gone is the boy who’s too quiet, too closed off, too powered from the urge of indignation.
What remains is Sieun drowned in passion, eyes wide and dreamy and dazed by the sight of you spread open for him, the warmth of your body beckoning his own.
“You sure?” he asks again, voice almost too tender.
You nod, pulling him down into a kiss, and guide him with a soft whisper, “Yes. Please, Sieun. I want all of you.”
He exhales shakily.
Then he lines himself just beyond your heat, and with a leisurely push of his hips, he slides inside.
You both gasp.
You’re hot and wet and hug onto his inching cock, and he sinks in like he’s always meant to belong there.
“God—” he grits, arms quavering on either side of you as he tries not to lose it too fast, forehead dropping to your shoulder.
“You’re…” His voice cracks. “So good. So—gosh, I don’t—”
You wrap your legs around him, anchoring him to you, and moan when he rocks forward again, deeper this time. You feel everything, every inch, every pulse, every lazed drag.
He starts slow, shallow, testing your fit, his own restraint. His hips roll into yours with a tender kind of ache, like he’s afraid to break you, like each inch of him inside you is a miracle he can’t fully comprehend.
But your body answers with desperate softness, clinging to him like silk caught in wind. You tilt your hips, chasing more friction, and whimper at the way his cock presses deeper, fuller, perfectly where you need him.
Sieun moans, a sound so broken and quiet it nearly guts you.
“Please,” you breathe, clutching at his back, your voice hitching with each movement. “Don’t hold back.”
His jaw clenches. His eyes flutter shut.
And then he moves deeper, hips rocking into you with a fluid rhythm that makes your breath stutter and your legs tighten around him.
The friction is delicious. The stretch, overwhelming yet cosmic.
Sieun presses closer, burying his face further into your neck, panting softly against your skin.
“You’re so—” He chokes on a groan as your walls flutter around him. “You feel unreal.”
You drag your nails lightly down his spine, whispering back between moans.
He fucks into you slowly, like it’s sacred. Each thrust is a vow, a prayer, an unraveling. His hands are everywhere—one gripping your thigh to anchor you to him, the other cradling your jaw like you’re too precious to let go.
Your body sings for him. You meet each movement with your own, hips rising to greet him, rolling and shifting to take him deeper, to keep him close.
Your moans mingle with his gasps, the heat between you building with every thrust, until there’s nothing left of restraint, only the desperate, languid drag of two bodies finding rhythm in devotion.
Sieun lifts his head to look at you—really look—and what he sees makes his hips stutter.
Your face, flushed and shining, lips parted, still pink and swollen, eyes glassy with bliss and admiration.
You’re breathtaking. And right now, you were his.
He moans again, broken and stunned, and leans down to kiss you like he’ll fall apart if he doesn’t, slow, messy, teeth grazing lips, all while his hips begin to move faster, harder, chasing something he’s never dared imagine before you.
Your bodies are slick with heat and need, the world around you reduced to nothing but the way he fits, the way he fills, the way he worships you with every thrust.
Sieun is whispering your name like a lifeline, like it’s the only word he knows, murmured into the skin of your throat, your jaw, your lips, as if it can tether him to reality while he teeters on the edge of something vast and consuming.
“You feel so good,” he rasps, voice hoarse and reverent. “So perfect—you’re perfect.”
Your back arches, body shuddering as he angles his hips just right, deep and slow and precise, hitting that spot inside you that makes gush over his length.
Your moans turn high and breathless, desperate.
“Sieun—” you gasp, legs tightening around his waist, pulling him in deeper. “I’m close—oh god—”
He knows.
He feels it, the way you start to flutter and squeeze around him, the way your breaths collapse into whimpers. And even through the haze of his own rising pleasure, Sieun slows down just enough to draw it out for you, to feel every quivering second of it.
“I’ve got you,” he whispers, breath stuttering. “Come, please.”
And you do.
It rushes over you in waves—white-hot, pulsing, unstoppable—your climax washing through your entire body with a strangled moan, your limbs tightening, your voice shaking as you cry out his name.
Sieun swears under his breath, something desperate and soft, and then he loses it.
The way you clamp around him, slick, pulsing, so warm, is all it takes to send him spiraling. His rhythm falters, hips stuttering, muscles trembling as the pressure finally breaks. He groans, deep and guttural, and spills into the condom with a few last shallow thrusts, his whole body curling into yours like he’s trying to fuse the two of you together.
And when it’s over, when the tremors in both your bodies begin to subside and your chests press together in exhausted, blissful rhythm, he stays.
Buried in you, breathless, consumed. His forehead pressed to yours, his lashes fluttering, lips ghosting your cheek.
And finally, his lips quirk at the corners, gracing his features with a small, gentle smile.
Because he decides he won’t be washing his shorts.
And he thinks he’ll get you to ruin another pair when you bring your laptop over for him under the guise of fixing it again.

Summary: Yoongi is just helping a friend help you, but is he even supposed to listen to this?. Part 2 of Reveal: recording. Read it for context. This is just why and how we got to that ending. More warnings under read more.
Includes: Mentions of selling sex content. People recording sex acts. Mentions of sexual activity ( doing things and also talking about doing things and thinking about doing more things ). Mentions of past and not past masturbation ( f and m ). Dirty talk? I guess?. Sprinkle of possessive yoongi? Is not my fault i sweaaaar Author's note: Remember when I started writing something short and silly lmao, what a time. Btw, I have never used OF so if something I say about how they use the website is actually not true / completely wrong just pretend please lmao. Anyway, I thought it'd be fun to write Yoongi's side, hope you like it! If you do please remember to leave a comment, reblog, ask, follow and what not. Thank you for reading <3
Saturday is probably Yoongi's favorite day of the week. No waking up early, no work, and not worrying about having to do any of those the next day.
That's why he groans when his phone rings with messages from Jungkook. He knows is him because he is the only one who still insists on sending him a million messages instead of just one.
Love the guy, but he can be annoying.
The fifth ring comes and hopping is the last one, Yoongi finally reaches for his phone and rolls to his back.
JK: hey JK: are you awake? JK: and free today? JK: i need a favor JK: yoongi?
Yoongi: with what? If I have to leave my house is probably a no.
Both of them know that actually, even if it ruined his plans of relaxing, he would say yes. Because that's what friends do.
JK: no no. You can do it at your house JK: I need to edit an audio for my friend JK: but I'm on the schedule today JK: and if I don't send it back quickly she will back out JK: please?
Yoongi: ok. Send it to me. Yoongi: you own me, tho.
Throwing his phone on the bed, he gets out of it to grab a bottle of water from the fridge, getting ready to sit in his studio for at least an hour. He knows is probably a bit extra to use his expensive equipment for whatever this favor is, but if he is going to help, he is going to do it right.
Opening Jungkook's messages on his laptop, Yoongi almost wants to laugh at himself.
JK: [ killmepls.mp3 ] JK: is and OF thing, btw JK: don't listen to it in public lol
Yep, definitely Poducer Min equipment is too extra for this. But, fuck it.
The archive is already downloaded when he opens the software, starting a new project and naming it the same as the audio plus final, to not get confused. Plugging in his headphones he starts playing it, already noticing whoever this is, is pretty quiet at the beginning and he would most likely have to cut it off, still, he listens to make sure.
A few taps followed by a “hi..” is the start, and he chuckles at their giggles.
He decides to let that in, but cuts the next few seconds where only their breathing can be heard along with some clicking and fabric moving. Is too long of a pause for this kind of thing and the clicking gives a way they weren't ready to start. Sure they wouldn't mind.
They put music on? It sounds familiar but is pretty fade out, so he can't really be sure, and then “This angle is kinda…”
That's him.
That's his voice.
“Hot,” the voice continues before he can rewind.
“You can't tell me I'm mean anymore. I'm spoiling you,” his own voice travels again on his headphones. “I'm giving you this view and I'm giving you what's probably the thing you all ask the most: hands.”
What is this? Some kind of joke?
Did Jungkook put them up to this?
“I hate him. I'm gonna sue him,”
That gets a laugh from him, even if he is still confused about what is happening.
Maybe it's just his imagination?
Should he ask his friend?
More movement of fabric. Maybe bed sheets or clothes. More breathing, a bit faster than last time and then, a groan.
He can leave that in.
Wait, that's right. He is supposed to be editing this. He has to go back and…
“This angle is kinda…” his voice says and he hits pause. Is really him. Is that possible?
He feels like he is imagining things.
“Jungkook, I swear if this is some kind of joke or something,” he rambles taking his phone out.
Yoongi: did you listen to it?
JK: no, didn't have time JK: why? something wrong? JK: don't tell me it can't be used JK: she is gonna be sad :(
Yoongi: who is she?
JK: dunno if i can tell you
Yoongi: technically I'm doing a favor for her. I think is fair
JK: good point JK: is afterhours(y/n)
He opens a new tap on his laptop, goes to the website and searches for the username through his followers. And sure enough there it is. Subscribed a month ago.
He clicks to see your perfil. The first post he can see without being subscribed is a picture of a lilac lingerie set on a bed with the caption “very early birthday present”, from a week ago.
He considers subscribing to see more, but he stops himself from clicking, remembering Jungkook didn't even want to tell him who you were. Oh, shit. What would you do if you knew it was him editing your audio? Would you back out? Or be sad?
Now it feels kind of wrong, like if he were invading your privacy.
He clicks around on his computer again, audio track back to the zero seconds mark. He hears the “hi” and the giggles and stops it before his voice appears.
“Okay, this is going to be posted. It was recorded with the intention of being posted for people to hear,” he reasons. “If it's not posted I'd just forget about it and if it is… I'd… subscribe? To make up for listening?”
Clearly that part is not completely made up on his mind, but he doesn't have to decide what to do right now, he has to finish editing. And so, Yoongi clicks around the software again, cutting and deleting another section, the one where you can hear his voice and even his music before.
That's it. It was a familiar track because it is his. He composed that himself to put in the background of his videos exclusively. He figured putting his own touch would help if something was posted outside his page, never imagining hearing it in the background of someone else's video or audio was even possible.
It shouldn't affect him this much. After all, people touching themselves to his videos is half the reason he likes making them. What can he say? Is a turn on to have that effect on others, it builds his confidence up.
But actually hearing it is different.
Groan and fabric moving, a bit too close to the mic he considers doing something about it, but “I want you to touch me,” is the perfect whisper. Just the right volume, just the right words.
No more audio of SugaD can be heard now, you probably turn down the volume of the video or pause it. Yoongi is curious about it. The idea of your sounds being a reaction to his past self is doing things to him, and Yoongi would like to ignore them before getting too distracted, but is kind of a boomer not knowing exactly what your reactions are for.
Maybe he can open his video, it wouldn't be hard for him to synchronized it with your audio and—
No.
That would cross the line. Is enough that he—
“Are you hard?” your voice continues, timidly he thinks.
Is this your first time doing this? That's why you couldn't edit yourself?
What would you do if you knew he was listening and his dick was calling for attention at all your little sounds?
He stops your recording, considers taking a break, going back to bed. But he knows just forgetting about this would be hard and in the end he would have to come back and finish helping.
He unpaused it.
More moans echo throughout his headphones and he fixes them on top of his head, as if that would help him concentrate. You just sound so pretty, and when you plead he wants to give you anything you ask for, his dick twitching with desire.
He could just— no. That'll be wrong. Is enough he is letting it affect him this much, he can't just—
His leg bounces under his desk, hand glue to his mouse even when he is just listening now. Only stopping and going back a couple times to fix the volume of background noise, making it less or more obvious depending on the flow or your moans.
A groan of his own cuts the silence in his studio when you form words again. “It feels so good, oh god.” And Yoongi wishes he knew what. Wishes he could see you, could touch you. Could make you sound and feel that good in person.
“Uh uh,” short moans leave your lips, and it sounds so much like you're agreeing with his thoughts he really considers sneaking a hand down his pants. Allow his mind to wander and imagine what you would look like under him. Or on top. Or just coming undone by him.
But he doesn't. He just listens to your recording, your breathing, your pleas and your cut out warning when you cum.
“Fucking hell,” Yoongi angrily whispers. And for a second he considers doing the SugaD special of cutting it out of the final audio, but that's too selfish.
Or perhaps is more selfish leaving it. Considering he wants the world to hear how you sound when listening to him.
Yoongi managed to leave the studio without touching himself. But is not really as impressive as it sounds since his hand is on his dick the minute he goes back to bed after listening to the final edit of your audio one last time. The excuse of being just to make sure is perfect is just that, an excuse. And your pretty sounds replay on his head while he jerks off until orgasm.
JK: thank youuuu JK: she says thank you too!
Does that mean you know he was the one editing it?
He opens the app on his phone, looks for your perfil again and debates a couple minutes his options.
What's the worst that can happen? You blocking him? He would understand, but if he actually doesn't do anything, doesn't play his chance, he wouldn't forgive himself.
And so, he subscribes. Page refreshes instantly and a new post greets him.
[ afterhours(y/n):
Surprise, surprise. Is my birthday month but I keep spoiling you, ain't I the best? 😝

Erase Me ✧ c.hs
Pairing: android Hansol Vernon Chwe x human reader (gn) Genre: angst Summary: Time's running out. Refuse to make the newer android models compatible with the software of the older ones and boom, you can make way more money than you could ever need. Only you're not a company and you're not trying to make money. You're just trying to keep Vernon alive. Word count: 2.5k Warnings: slow deterioration, forced memory loss A/N: inspired by this post by @lumpywhump and also lowk inspired by my personal supplier of sad ai facts aka my dad and the shit he makes me cry about

The room would be silent if it wasn’t for the hum of the aircon and the whirring coming from Vernon’s open skull. The organized mess of wiring, components you don’t even know the names of, the small LED diodes blinking at you like stars in the night sky. It makes you feel like you’re looking at something humans weren’t supposed to see.
The days are getting longer and hotter. Stifling. You literally stand right where the air blows at you from the aircon and still you feel like you can’t breathe. There’s no escaping the heat and the vaguely dreamy, floaty feeling you get in the later hours of the day. The nights provide no relief either and you’re stuck with your thoughts because you can’t sleep. Even the android sleeps better than you lately.
“So, uh,” Vernon hesitates, which is unlike him. You feel like you’re going to be sick. “It’s between my oh moment and when we first held hands this time.”
You breathe in slowly, a deep breath that inflates your lungs until it hurts. In a way, you are lucky. The choices only started getting heartbreaking recently. You exhale slowly.
“I,” he sighs, “What do you think?”
“It’s your memories, love,” you shake your head and sit down behind him, wrapping your arms around his body. Warm. The way metal warms up on a hot day, not the comfort of organic bodies or warm water. His shoulder is hard under your chin. The newer models are softer. More human-like. Perhaps they could simulate the comforting feeling.
Not that that’s the selling point. They come with bigger memory storage. And, you suppose, better software as far as memory organization is concerned. Not this “pick between these two random options” Sophia’s choice torture of memory erasure that he has to go through on a separate, ancient computer that he has to plug into and that accepts his memory card.
The mechanical parts inside of his skull buzz right next to your ear. It always gets a little louder when he’s thinking.
“We will hold hands again,” he says slowly, “But I can only fall in love with you for the first time once.”
“I mean it’d be the first time again if you deleted it,” you try to joke but it just sounds dry and forced. He doesn’t say it, and maybe it’s only because he doesn’t consider it an option, but there’s the chance he wouldn’t fall in love with you again. Maybe you’re just making this worse for yourself.
The whirring quietens. People used to say androids are hard to decipher. They must’ve never been close to one.
“It wouldn’t be the same,” he leans his head against yours cautiously, minding the sharp edges of the plates of his open skull, “And it’d be more noticeable.”
You try to swallow but your throat is too dry and too tight. It feels like there’s no oxygen in the room. Usually you’d blush and giggle at the insinuation that he thinks about the moment he fell in love with you often. Today you can’t. It doesn’t even register.
Anyway, he’s right. Holding hands isn’t that big of a deal. You have no idea why you’re both being so dramatic. Maybe its because this is the first time he’s forced to lose some memory of you. Before they could be saved in exchange for some of his random trivia knowledge. It’s barely there now and it’s heartbreaking.
It also feels wrong. Like he’s losing himself to keep you. It makes you sick. He won’t listen, stubborn as he is. You do wonder, though, if the only reason he’s still by your side after so long is because he cut his world too narrowly around you.
“Yeah, go ahead,” you nod. And just like that, in a couple of seconds, it’s done. The world is still turning. The time doesn’t stop for even a second. You remember the shy, careful way his hand slipped into yours. Your fingers intertwined and you wondered about how cool his synthetic skin felt against yours. It was fall and the coolness was not very welcomed.
You still remember - he doesn’t.
Does he still remember that he used to be against this? Despite it being completely natural. He used to say you deserved better. You keep telling him the same.
He hands you the compartment he’s holding and you carefully slide it back into its place inside his metal cranium. The structure closes automatically and he looks human again. Almost. The whirring gets louder, quicker. You don’t have time to pay it much mind while you help Vernon get on the couch and lie down.
The memory isn’t the only issue he’s dealing with recently.
The thing about the older models is that there’s very little that can be done for them. Screw the system made to force people to upgrade, to keep buying. Refuse to make the older and newer models compatible in any way and boom, you can make way more money than you could ever need.
There are rumors of people who could help your situation but honestly, who even can afford their services. No matter how much you’d be willing to sacrifice just to help your lover live. And to remember. It’s paralyzing to know that no matter what you do, it won’t even come close to being enough.
The list of the memories lost keeps growing. It’s gonna keep growing, inevitably. Most of them have been insignificant so far, fortunately. It’s not gonna be that way forever. Today was the wake up call.
With Vernon asleep, you can only blankly stare into space. There’s nothing you can do. Nothing to help him. Nothing at all to save him.
It feels selfish to worry about it, to cry about it, to despair about it. It’s not your mind to begin with. Sharing the burden doesn’t help. You know it’s slowly getting to Vernon too. You don’t need to literally hear his mind race to notice whenever he realizes there’s a blank space where something should be.
It’s a cursed circle, forgetting, learning again, only to be forced to forget not long after. There’s no help. It’s hopeless. No matter where you search, who you ask. It’s always so far out of reach that you’re not sure whether it’s a good thing or not that at least there’s no hope.
And the issues keep stacking. Not only the memory. Not only the energy draining out of him faster. Vernon hides it from you, but you know. You notice. When you lie together, hold each other under the blanket he doesn’t need, he’ll admit he’s scared. He can feel himself fading away. He never goes into specifics, living with him as long as you do he doesn’t need to anyway.
The light at the end of the tunnel, the light that’s supposed to be hope, feels more like a train speeding towards you. The clock is ticking and you feel it in your bones. Tick-tock. Your days are numbered. Time’s running out. No matter how much you dig your heels in, you’ll be dragged forward whether you want it or not.
It’s just one blow after another.
The notification of a software update that’s supposed to erase some of the issues with the functionality of androids of Vernon’s type.
You dread the size of it.
It’s already noon and he’s still asleep. Yesterday he decided to sacrifice the couple months you spent at your first shared home in hopes it’d solve things for some time.
You wonder if that’s gonna be enough.
You wonder if one day it’ll be better if he forgets you completely.
Probably. But then again so much of your lives is intertwined that it might just cause more confusion and chaos. It’s not like you could abandon him, you’d still want to take care of him, protect him, make sure he can live as happily as possible for as long as his luck holds.
You brush away some of the synthetic hair from his face. It all takes so much from him. The demands are getting higher, his system and body can’t keep up. Every little change requires so much power to pull off. The software update will be the worst in a while, especially because of the deterioration. Vernon guesses it might take weeks for him to gain consciousness again.
It’s just not fair that he looks so much like a human. You suppose the slow and inevitable decline towards death is human too, and just like for humans, it can’t be changed, it’s not always fair. You know. But it hurts.
You wipe away the tears that spilled thinking about the future that might not be as distant as you thought.
Vernon doesn’t know what to do. If it was up to him, he likely wouldn’t do anything. No erasing memories, no updates. He’d accept the hand he was dealt and focus on experiencing as much as the limit of his body would allow him. Eventually, something would happen and he’d either shut down or break beyond repair and - hopefully - conscience.
It’s not really only up to him, though, and that’s the issue. He doesn’t doubt that you'd support his decision even if it meant less time left with him, but he doesn’t want to hurt you like that. Whatever happens, you’ll get left behind. So he wants to help you have less regrets. He can see you’re not ready to let go and maybe you never will be. It makes him grateful and sad at the same time.
The day of the update is getting closer. So he’s revisiting all his options again and getting too sentimental for his own good. He’s just tired of all this. Tired of forgetting. Tired of losing himself. That’s what it feels like he’s been doing all along - just chipping away at himself? And for what? Survival instinct that’s so laughably pointless for synthetic life?
Honestly, he doesn’t want to go through with it. There exists a point where self-preservation makes no sense and he’s just about reached it.
What’s it gonna fix anyway? His days are numbered. He knows. While the updates would improve his quality of life, it’d only be at the expense of things he values more. If it came sooner, he’d jump at the opportunity. Now it feels like slapping a duct tape on a totaled car.
“Let’s not do the update,” he finally says once you join him in the living room. The morning is still too fresh for this kind of talk but he’s never been the type to put things off. At least he thinks so.
You stare at him for a few seconds and then nod, rubbing the sleep from your eyes. You used to sleep much longer. Now it feels to him like you’re getting up at these ridiculous hours just to make sure he’s still there. Not so much physically but the point stands.
“Any particular reason?” There’s no accusation, no blame. This conversation could probably be avoided if he was more open about everything. He made his choices though.
“It’s too late for it to be meaningful,” he hopes it says enough.
You’ve always worried too much about him. And you know him too well. Deep down you must’ve noticed the things he doesn’t point out. His fine motor skills are getting worse. His “senses” aren’t as sharp either. His memories are losing quality. Replaying some of the older ones in the full quality they were recorded in would probably send him into a coma.
You don’t need to know all the details. You feel it. You know. And that’s all that matters.
At this point you’re just wiping away tears, not trying to wake up.
“It will be better,” he approaches it reasonably, “It wouldn’t change much. And your power bill is already high enough as it is.”
You don’t laugh at his joke but you nod.
“At least we should have more time,” he continues, “I don’t mind keeping up what we do now for you. Well, for me too. I really do love you. I don’t want to leave you.”
A weak “shut up” is all you can muster as you stumble forward and fall into his embrace. Your body shakes with sobs. Crying is another ability he’s given up. The fluid had no other function. The emotions can still be felt. Not making the system perform a purely performative task saves some energy and computing power. He rarely used it anyway. Even now, what would it change? You understand how he feels without the show of emotions.
He wraps an arm around your waist and pats your back with the other. His feelings wouldn’t get properly conveyed through tears even if he could cry. It’s too late for them, too. All that’s left is to make peace and live while he can, as much as his body and system allow him. For now he’ll hold you like this. His fingers fist in your shirt. That must be enough.
There’s nothing he can say to soothe you, so he doesn’t. He lets you cry it out. You’ll think clearer afterwards. You’ll see his point, eventually. Again, you know. You know it all, just as he does.
Just like him, you just need to come to terms with it.
“I have some more memory left now,” he whispers into your hair, “Let’s take advantage of that. We’ll decide what to do next when we come to that bridge.”
For now, that’s all he can come up with.
He hopes that the time until that happens will be long enough for the world to end. So that nobody would get abandoned, nobody would have to mourn and learn to live again.
Perhaps things would be different if he wasn’t avoiding the necessary conversation like a coward. It’s madness to keep doing the same thing over and over again, it’s unsustainable. Things would just keep getting worse. He deserves more - you both do. Perhaps especially you.
“You know what you want to do, right?” you ask with a shaky voice.
“It doesn’t feel right,” Vernon admits, “I knew you knew. Let’s not worry about it now.”
“You went along with my vision long enough,” you sigh, burying your face deeper into his chest, “Let’s do it your way now.”
He nods, knows you can feel it. His way, for now, is to hold you. It doesn’t solve anything. It hurts. He feels his brain whirring while he recollects all the times he’s held you like this. There’s nothing more he can commit to memory about how your body feels against his. That’s a relief. It doesn’t change anything, but if it doesn't make the problem worse, it feels like standing here and holding you until his body gives out isn’t the worst thing to do.

So, one thing that's worth knowing about me is I'm absolutely in love with the cyberpunk genre. And every fandom I get into, the first thing I do is try to find a cyberpunk AU, which usually doesn't exist. The second thing I do is try to come up with a cyberpunk AU idea myself.
And Stranger Things is actually the first fandom that the idea just clicked.
Ever since I saw S4, I just knew I needed to rewrite its plot in the cyberpunk setting. Just imagine Vecna being an evil-hacker-turned-AI that's infecting and killing seemingly random people plugged into cyberspace.
Imagine Eddie being an outlaw console cowboy selling unregulated neuron software. Imagine Chrissy wanting to buy some upgrades from him and dying plugged into his console.
Imagine the gang obsessed with a tabletop RPG game, a completely offline and completely manual game that's over a hundred years old.
Imagine Steve and Robin working the counter in a dingy, 1970s-inspired peepshow shop.
And then all of them come together to take down Vecna, going underground to avoid the all-seeing Big Brother. The hacking, the motorcycle high-speed chases, uncovering the mystery, working against The System, and maybe discovering that the conspiracy is actually way bigger than they initially thought.
Ugh, I can just feel the dystopia of it all, horror and thriller mixing with sci-fi, the high stakes, and, of course, Steve and Eddie getting it on in the middle of running from the evil corporations.

Plug In and Play: The Emotional Energy of the Electric Guitar
More Than Just an Instrument
The electric guitar isn’t just a collection of wires, wood, and strings—it’s a vessel for emotion. With just a few chords, it can stir nostalgia, ignite passion, or echo heartbreak. Few instruments carry the same level of expressiveness, allowing the player to transmit feelings directly through their fingertips. Whether you’re channeling raw aggression through distorted riffs or exploring delicate melodies with clean tones, the electric guitar gives you an unmatched level of emotional control.
Its magic lies in its dynamic response. From a soft whisper to a thunderous roar, the guitar reacts instantly to your intent. And that’s precisely why it continues to inspire new generations of musicians.
Bridging the Gap Between Analog and Digital
In today’s fast-paced digital age, where music is often created with virtual instruments and pre-made loops, the electric guitar bridges the gap between tradition and technology. Paired with modern gear like digital audio interfaces, amp simulators, and recording software, the guitar’s analog charm blends seamlessly into digital production environments.
Musicians no longer need to rely on expensive studios to craft world-class sound. With a single guitar and a creative mind, tracks can be composed, layered, and shared globally. This accessibility has made the electric guitar a central component in home studios, empowering independent artists and bedroom producers to reach audiences without limitations.
A Soundtrack for Every Genre
The electric guitar’s role isn’t restricted to rock or metal anymore. It has found a place in nearly every genre of modern music. Jazz artists use it for smooth, warm tones. Indie musicians create dreamy soundscapes with reverb and delay. Even in hip-hop and electronic music, guitar samples and live recordings are used to add an organic feel.
This genre-blending capacity makes it one of the most versatile tools in music today. For players who want to explore multiple styles—or fuse them into something entirely new—the electric guitar offers a limitless platform for experimentation.
Design That Matches Ambition
Choosing an electric guitar is a personal journey. It's not just about sound—it's about feel, look, and connection. Some players are drawn to vintage-inspired models with classic finishes, while others gravitate toward futuristic designs with sleek contours and advanced features. The market today offers a stunning range of options for beginners, hobbyists, and professionals alike.
Build quality, tonewoods, pickup configuration, and neck shape all contribute to a guitar’s character. But more importantly, it’s about how the instrument responds to your energy. The right guitar doesn’t just complement your style—it enhances your creativity and motivates you to keep playing.
An Invitation to Start Something Great
Learning the electric guitar isn’t just about playing music—it’s about personal growth. It builds patience, discipline, and confidence. It encourages experimentation and storytelling. And as skills develop, so does the sense of accomplishment. Whether you’re performing live, recording solo tracks, or simply jamming in your room, the guitar offers an endless source of inspiration.
And perhaps the most beautiful part? There’s no one “right” way to play. Some chase technical perfection, others focus on feel. Some stick to the classics, others break every rule. The electric guitar welcomes them all.
Final Thought
As music continues to evolve, the electric guitar remains a timeless source of passion, creativity, and expression. It speaks every language, fits every genre, and resonates with anyone willing to explore its depth. For musicians ready to take their first step or seasoned players seeking their next great sound, there’s nothing quite like the experience of picking up an Electric Guitar in Qatar.

Enhance Your Roblox Experience with Advanced Shader Tools
Roblox has evolved significantly over the years, transitioning from a simple gaming platform into a massive virtual universe filled with user-generated content. With the growth of user expectations and the increasing popularity of high-quality visuals in games, many Roblox players and developers have started seeking ways to enhance the visual appeal of their experiences.
Roblox Shader
Visuals in games play a critical role in the overall player experience. While Roblox is not inherently built with high-fidelity graphics in mind, the community has found ways to creatively overcome these limitations. A roblox shader is essentially a set of graphical enhancements that modify lighting, shadows, textures, and color grading to create a more immersive and visually appealing environment. These shaders can give life to even the most basic Roblox builds by adding realistic water reflections, atmospheric lighting, and dynamic weather effects.
Many players and developers are turning to external tools and plug-ins to integrate shaders into their Roblox games. One of the most popular and trusted sources for shaders in the Roblox community is roblox shader. This platform provides a collection of shader packs designed to be easy to use while offering a high level of customization. These shaders are not just cosmetic; they can change how players interact with the game world, as lighting and visibility often affect gameplay mechanics.
In addition to aesthetics, shaders can also be a tool for storytelling. For example, a horror game can use shaders to add eerie shadows and fog, while a fantasy world might include shimmering lights and magical glows. This adaptability makes shaders an invaluable tool for developers looking to build unique experiences within Roblox.
Roblox Shader 2025
As we look forward to the future of Roblox, it's clear that graphical improvements will continue to shape the player experience. The term roblox shader 2025 reflects a new era of shaders designed with future-proofing and evolving technology in mind. These shaders go beyond basic lighting effects and begin to incorporate advanced rendering techniques such as ray tracing, volumetric lighting, and real-time global illumination.
The idea behind roblox shader 2025 is to prepare developers for the next generation of Roblox games. With increasing support for higher-end devices and a more demanding audience, visual fidelity has become a focal point. Sites like roblox shader 2025 are paving the way by offering shader packs that are not only visually stunning but also optimized for performance.
These future-focused shaders bring console-quality visuals to Roblox, allowing developers to craft environments that rival those of traditional gaming platforms. Games built with roblox shader 2025 tools often feature dynamic weather systems, soft shadows, and cinematic color grading that completely transform the look and feel of the game. The immersive quality of these shaders makes them especially suitable for genres like RPGs, simulations, and story-driven games.
Roblox Shader Download
One of the most common questions among Roblox enthusiasts is how to get started with shaders. This brings us to the topic of roblox shader download, which is the process of obtaining and installing shader packs onto your device to use in Roblox. While Roblox does not officially support third-party shaders, many players use external software such as ReShade to apply these effects during gameplay.
Finding a trustworthy source for shader downloads is crucial. The internet is filled with various files and tools, but not all are safe or effective. One of the best and most reliable platforms to find shaders for Roblox is roblox shader download, where users can browse curated shader packs, read reviews, and follow installation guides.
Installing a shader typically involves downloading a configuration file and a shader injector like ReShade. The installation process is generally straightforward: users place the shader files in the appropriate game directory and adjust settings in the injector to enable or disable effects. However, it’s important to ensure that your device meets the system requirements before proceeding, as shaders can be resource-intensive.

The Backbone of Studio Sound - Why Audio Interfaces Deserve Your Attention
In today’s dynamic world of digital music production, audio interfaces have become central to every serious studio setup. As technology continues to evolve, the quality and flexibility of audio equipment are setting new benchmarks, making it essential for producers to choose the right gear and protect it wisely. From home studios to professional recording environments, understanding how audio interfaces function and why they matter is critical to producing music that stands out.
Let’s dive into why these devices are not just accessories but vital components of the modern musician’s toolkit.
What is an Audio Interface and Why is it Important?
At its core, an audio interface acts as the bridge between your analog instruments, like microphones and guitars, and your computer’s digital audio workstation (DAW). It converts analog signals into digital data, enabling high-quality sound capture. This conversion process is vital because it preserves the detail and clarity of your recordings, which is especially important for genres like jazz, classical, or acoustic, where nuances make a difference.
More than just a converter, a good audio interface comes with key features like microphone preamps, phantom power, headphone outputs, MIDI inputs, and balanced outputs. These enable you to record multiple tracks simultaneously with minimal latency and maximum control.
Choosing the Right Audio Interface for Your Needs
With so many models available, choosing an audio interface may seem overwhelming. However, selecting the right one depends on a few critical considerations:
Input and Output Options: Think about how many microphones or instruments you plan to record at once. Two inputs may suffice for solo artists, while bands may require multi-channel interfaces.
Connection Type: USB is standard and widely compatible, but Thunderbolt and USB-C offer faster data transfer and lower latency for high-end setups.
Build Quality and Portability: If you’re a producer who travels or works in different locations, a sturdy yet compact device is ideal.
Preamplifier Quality: This affects how clean and rich your recorded sound is. Budget models might skimp on preamp quality, impacting the result.

Latest Trends in Audio Equipment
Over the past few years, the market for audio gear has seen significant growth, driven largely by home-based music production and podcasting. Many interfaces now come with built-in digital signal processing (DSP), allowing real-time effects and mixing without overloading your computer.
Additionally, hybrid models that support both studio and mobile setups are gaining traction. These allow creators to seamlessly switch between studio-grade recording and on-the-go sessions without sacrificing audio quality.
Another notable trend is the growing interest in user-friendly software integration. Modern interfaces often come bundled with DAWs, plug-ins, and virtual instruments, helping newcomers build their production environment straight out of the box.
Why It’s Important to Protect Your Audio Gear
For professionals and hobbyists alike, audio equipment represents a significant investment. Whether you’re working from a home studio or taking your setup to live gigs, the risk of accidental damage, technical faults, or theft is always present. That’s why it’s wise to consider audio equipment insurance, which provides peace of mind and financial protection.
Rather than waiting until something goes wrong, many music professionals opt for coverage tailored specifically to their needs. Such insurance ensures minimal disruption to your creative process and helps cover repairs or replacement costs promptly, especially when deadlines or performances are on the line.
You’ll find that audio equipment insurance is not just for touring musicians; even small studios benefit from securing their valuable gear.
Final Thoughts
In the age of digital content creation, having the right audio interface is more than a technical decision—it’s a creative one. Selecting a device matching your workflow and goals allows you to set yourself up for better sound, smoother sessions, and a more enjoyable recording experience.
As the audio equipment landscape evolves, so too does the need to invest wisely and protect that investment. Take time to research your options, learn from reliable guides, and ensure your gear remains safe and functional, because in the world of sound, quality is everything.

Reviewing the America-exclusive Turbo Grafx 16 (PC Engine) games - Part 1
There are very little North America-exclusive titles released for the PC Engine. These games were published by NEC America and subsequently Turbo Technologies Inc. Probably a reason why I had to play ROMs of them on an everdrive plugged into my Japanese PC Engine system. As for the CD games, they are region free so you can play them on a Japanese PC Engine CD-ROM2 drive, no sweat. For reference, currently mine is a PC Engine Duo. Without a further ado, let's play the PC Engine games released exclusively in the Land of the Free, Home of the Brave - America.
Game #1: Disney's Darkwing Duck
Developer: Interactive Designs / Radiance Software
Release Year: 1992
Catalogue No.: TGX040066
Genre: Platform Action
Format: HuCard
The Darkwing Duck games on the NES and Game Boy by Capcom were great, and this one is so mediocre. The controls feel terribly mushy, causing Darkwing to hesitate at times when precision is required. The collision detection is atrocious. Touching an icon with your hands isn't good enough. No, your entire body needs to pass over it! Even the graphics and animation are substandard. Darkwing Duck is the sort of game you want to like, but the more you play, the more you realize the game simply blows enormous chunks. A far better game of this genre and format would be Makai Prince Dorabocchan.
youtube
Game #2: R-Type (8 Megabit)
Developer: Irem
Release Year: 1989
Catalogue No.: TGX040011
Genre: Horizontal Shooter
Format: HuCard
Technically, R-Type should not belong on this list, but I decided to include it here for one reason. In Japan, R-Type was split into two parts, owing to memory chip shortages which affected the video game industry in Japan. So, the Japanese HuCard release of R-Type (published by Hudson) was split into R-Type Part I (HC63007, released on 25 March 1988) and R-Type Part II (HC63009, released on 3 June 1988). Part I included the first 4 levels, while Part 2 included the last 4 levels. This American release combined the two into one complete HuCard, owing to the fact the chip shortage was no longer a thing by the time the Turbo Grafx 16 landed in North America in 1989. While it was a competent effort overall, Irem was not too satisfied at leaving it there, and in 1991, an even more complete version of the game dubbed R-Type Complete CD was released on the Super CD-ROM2 format exclusive in Japan. The Complete CD included extra levels, a wicked arranged CD soundtrack, and anime cinematics that tell the story of the game. R-Type on HuCard is still a great game, but if I had to play any R-Type game on the PC Engine, you bet your bottom dollar it's gonna be R-Type Complete CD.
youtube
Game 3: Bonk 3: Bonk's Big Adventure CD
Developer: Hudson Soft / RED
Release Month: December 1994
Catalogue No.: TGXCD1052
Genre: Platform Action
Format: Super CD-ROM2
So here it is. Bonk 3 on CD. Uh... This was only released via Turbo Zone Direct mail order and was the last Turbo Grafx game ever released in North America officially. I am sad to say that it was a lazy upgrade over the HuCard original which was already good to begin with. I see no difference aside from fewer animation frames, a new VS mode which does not add much to the story, and a CD soundtrack which I think is a bit meh. Go for the HuCard version and save your money.
youtube
Game #4: The Addams Family
Developer: ICOM Simulations
Release Year: 1991
Catalogue No.: TGXCD1019
Genre: Platform Action
Format: CD-ROM2
This movie game is exactly what I would have expected from a Western company at the time. It's dreadful. The backgrounds are nothing special, the sprites are basic and unappealing, and the 'music' or ambient sound is all sampled and not even played from the CD. The gameplay itself is shallow, with tedious and poorly designed attack patterns, and it just feels like there is so little of any substance here that it just isn't worth your time. While the idea of progression by unlocking doors is fairly sound, the action in the rooms is so brief that you'll be crying out for something with a lot more meat on its bones. Movie tie-ins are not known for their quality and The Addams Family reinforces the stereotype very well indeed.
If you want to play a game of this type, you're better off playing Fausseté Amour, Akumajo Dracula X or Fiend Hunter.
youtube
Game #5: Impossamole
Developer: Gremlin Interactive
Release Year: 1991
Catalogue No.: TGX040062
Genre: Platformer
Format: HuCard
In the early 90's, some misguided game publishers believed that if you took a small, furry creature and stuck him in a platform game, you'd have the makings of a hit. Many Western publishers fell casualty to this - Flair Software with Whizz, Sunsoft America with Aero the Acrobat, Tengen with Awesome Possum, Crystal Dynamics with Gex, Accolade with Bubsy Bobcat and finally Gremlin with Impossamole. Yes, that Gremlin that gave us the Top Gear (Top Racer) games for the Super Famicom in Japan. And no, none of them had the high bar to challenge Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog in every metric possible. I've seen reviews in old magazines describe Impossamole as an average platformer, but they give it too much credit.
I really don’t know how much time I would have invested in this as a kid. I did like everything back then. With other great games for the system like the Bonk games and Dungeon Explorer, and on competing systems including the Mega Drive with Sonic the Hedgehog, and the Super Famicom with gems like the Yoshi games, I would not even bother with this one. It’s games like this that helped with the system’s demise in North America. I can’t believe NEC America chose this kind of lineup and left so many of the PC Engine's 700-odd library of great games in Japan.
Want to play a far better game? Try Doraemon Nobita no Dorabian Night. It plays like a dream, and if you get the Super CD-ROM2 version of Dorabian Night, you get anime cutscenes and voice acting, and the Doraemon theme song is there.
youtube
Game #6: Yo' Bro
Developer: ICOM Simulations
Release Year: 1991
Catalogue No.: TGX040054
Genre: Skateboarding
Format: HuCard
A HuCard companion game to Camp California. Yo Bro drags on and on, so by the time you're prompted to "continue?" the decision is a no-brainer. Leave this game on the shelf where it belongs, and play some other game like Cross Wiber, Berabo Man, or Don Doko Don.

Why Every DJ Should Consider a Dedicated External Hard Drive
As a DJ, your music library is the heart and soul of your performances. It’s your secret weapon, your creative toolkit, and often, your biggest investment. But have you ever thought about what would happen if you lost it all? A corrupted file, a failed laptop, or an accidental deletion could spell disaster. That’s where a dedicated external hard drive steps in—not just as a backup but as a powerful ally for safeguarding your library and ensuring seamless access during gigs.
If you’re wondering why this seemingly small piece of tech can make such a big difference, let’s break it down step by step.

The Ultimate Backup Plan
Imagine this: you’re at a gig, the crowd is hyped, and suddenly your laptop crashes. It’s every DJ’s nightmare, but it’s more common than you’d think. Laptops can fail unexpectedly, but losing your music library doesn’t have to be part of the deal.
A dedicated external hard drive acts as your safety net. By regularly backing up your music files, you can protect your library from unexpected disasters. Even if your primary device fails, your hard drive ensures you’ll never lose those carefully curated playlists. Plus, it’s easier and faster to restore your library from a physical backup than relying on cloud storage, especially if the venue has spotty internet.
Quick and Reliable Access
When performing live, speed is everything. You need to access your tracks quickly and without delay. A high-quality external hard drive provides faster read and write speeds compared to internal laptop storage, especially if you’re using an older device.
Dedicated drives designed for DJs are optimized for high-performance workflows. They handle large files and fast transfers effortlessly, ensuring your music is always at your fingertips when you need it most.
Additionally, keeping your music library on an external hard drive reduces the load on your laptop’s internal storage. This not only improves your laptop’s overall performance but also minimizes the risk of slowdowns or freezes during critical moments.
Organized and Clutter-Free Workflow
We’ve all been there—searching for a specific track during a gig only to realize your files are a mess. A dedicated hard drive helps solve this problem by allowing you to organize your library more effectively.
With an external drive, you can create a clear folder structure for your music:
Sort tracks by genre, BPM, or mood.
Create dedicated folders for gigs or specific events.
Keep backups of your DJ software settings, cue points, and playlists.
This level of organization not only saves time but also ensures you stay in control during your performance. Plus, having a separate drive for your music keeps your laptop’s storage free from clutter, making it easier to manage other essential files and applications.
Portability and Convenience
One of the biggest advantages of an external hard drive is its portability. These compact devices are easy to carry and connect, giving you the flexibility to bring your entire library to any gig.
For DJs who use multiple setups—like switching between personal gear and club equipment—a portable hard drive is invaluable. Instead of lugging around your laptop, you can plug your hard drive directly into the venue’s system, saving time and effort.
This portability also makes collaboration easier. If you’re performing a back-to-back set with another DJ, sharing tracks is as simple as swapping drives.
Protecting Your Investment
Your music library isn’t just a collection of songs—it’s the result of countless hours of digging, curating, and investing. Losing it would be more than frustrating; it would be devastating.
External hard drives are designed to protect your investment. Many come with durable casings that safeguard against physical damage like drops or impacts. Some even offer water and dust resistance, adding an extra layer of protection for traveling DJs.
But hardware protection isn’t enough. It’s crucial to choose a reliable and high-capacity drive to store your library securely. Shopping from a professional or reputable audio shop ensures you get a quality product that’s built to last, giving you peace of mind and reliability when it matters most.

Reducing Dependence on Cloud Storage
While cloud storage is a great option for general backups, it’s not always the best choice for DJs. The reasons are simple:
Internet access isn’t guaranteed at every venue.
Large files can take time to download, creating delays during gigs.
Subscription costs can add up over time, especially for high-capacity plans.
An external hard drive provides all the benefits of local storage without the reliance on internet connectivity. It’s faster, more reliable, and costs less in the long run. You can even use it alongside cloud storage for a multi-layered backup strategy, ensuring your library is safe no matter what.
Future-Proofing Your Setup
As your music library grows, so do your storage needs. A dedicated external hard drive offers the flexibility to expand your storage capacity without replacing your laptop or other equipment.
Modern drives come in various capacities, ranging from 1TB to several terabytes, ensuring you have plenty of space for your current library and future additions. This scalability makes an external hard drive a smart investment for DJs at any stage of their career.
Plus, with advancements in technology, newer drives are compatible with the latest connection standards, such as USB-C or Thunderbolt, providing faster speeds and better performance for years to come.
Tips for Choosing the Right External Hard Drive
Not all external hard drives are created equal. Here are some key factors to consider when making your choice:
Capacity: Choose a drive with enough storage to accommodate your library and future growth.
Speed: Look for high-speed options (e.g., SSDs) for quick file access and transfer rates.
Durability: Opt for drives with sturdy casings and protection against physical damage.
Portability: Ensure the drive is compact and easy to carry for gigs and travel.
Compatibility: Check that the drive works seamlessly with your DJ software and hardware.
A Small Investment for Big Peace of Mind
In the fast-paced world of DJing, preparation is everything. A dedicated external hard drive isn’t just a convenience—it’s an essential tool for safeguarding your music library, improving your workflow, and reducing stress during gigs.
By investing in a reliable drive and keeping your library backed up and organized, you can focus on what you do best: delivering unforgettable performances. And when it comes to choosing the right gear, shopping from reputable audio shops ensures you get the quality and support you need to keep your setup running smoothly.
So, if you haven’t already, consider adding an external hard drive to your DJ arsenal. It’s a small step that can make a huge difference, giving you the confidence to rock any stage without worry.

The Economics of Music Production and Streaming
The music industry has experienced a seismic shift over the past two decades. Traditional album sales have given way to streaming services, and artists now rely on innovative technologies for production and distribution. Understanding the economics behind music production and streaming is critical for anyone looking to thrive in this dynamic field. This article explores the financial landscape of music streaming, essential production tools, and tips for maximizing revenue.
The Concept of Mastership in Music One of the foundational aspects of music economics is the concept of mastership. Mastership refers to the ownership of the master recording, the original version of a song from which all copies are made. Understanding mastership meaning is crucial for artists who want control over their work and the financial benefits that come with it. Artists who own their masters can license their music for commercials, films, and streaming, keeping a significant portion of the revenue. This ownership not only empowers artists but also safeguards their legacy in a competitive industry.
How Much Money Can Artists Earn from Spotify Streams? The rise of Spotify and similar platforms has opened new revenue streams for musicians, but how much do these streams really pay? On average, Spotify pays between $0.003 and $0.005 per stream. Understanding how much money per Spotify stream is vital for artists planning their income strategy. While these numbers may seem small, they add up significantly with a larger audience. The key is to focus on growing a dedicated fanbase and achieving high stream counts.
Revenue from Spotify also depends on factors like location, type of account (free or premium), and the artist's agreement with their distributor. Independent artists often retain a higher percentage of earnings compared to those under traditional record labels. To maximize earnings, artists should combine Spotify streams with other revenue sources such as live performances, merchandise, and crowdfunding.
Adding Your Music to Apple Music Streaming is incomplete without Apple Music, one of the largest platforms globally. For artists aiming to broaden their reach, it’s essential to learn how to add music on Apple Music. Apple Music offers unique features like curated playlists, which can give artists significant exposure. The process typically involves partnering with a music distributor, uploading high-quality audio files, and providing metadata such as artist name, album title, and release date.
Apple Music’s payout per stream is slightly higher than Spotify’s, making it a lucrative option for artists. Furthermore, being present on multiple platforms ensures that you’re accessible to fans regardless of their streaming service preferences.
Choosing the Best Software for Music Production Creating quality music begins with selecting the right production tools. When determining what is the best software to produce music, consider factors like your budget, skill level, and genre. Popular options include:
Ableton Live: Known for its user-friendly interface and versatility in electronic music production.
Logic Pro X: A favorite among professionals, offering a vast library of sounds and plug-ins.
FL Studio: Ideal for beginners with a straightforward workflow and powerful features.
Investing in good software enhances the production process and ensures your tracks are of the highest quality, which is vital in a competitive market. High-quality production often translates to better listener engagement and, consequently, higher streaming revenues.
How Much Do Spotify Artists Make? While Spotify streams provide artists with a source of income, the actual amount can vary widely. Understanding how much do Spotify artists make helps set realistic expectations and develop strategies to optimize earnings. Successful independent artists often generate between $3,000 and $5,000 monthly from their streams alone.
These earnings are influenced by factors like playlist placements, regional popularity, and the artist's overall marketing strategy. For example, securing a spot on popular Spotify playlists can exponentially increase an artist's reach and revenue. Additionally, collaborations with other artists and leveraging social media can boost stream counts.
Balancing Expenses and Revenue Music production and distribution come with costs, including software, hardware, marketing, and distribution fees. To succeed financially, artists must carefully balance these expenses against their expected revenue. For instance, opting for affordable yet high-quality equipment and utilizing free promotional tools like social media can help reduce costs.
Many independent artists also turn to crowdfunding platforms like Patreon or Kickstarter to cover initial production costs. These platforms allow fans to directly support their favorite musicians, creating a more sustainable financial model.
Tips for Maximizing Revenue in the Streaming Era
Diversify Platforms: Don’t rely on a single streaming service. Upload your music to Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and other platforms to reach a broader audience.
Engage with Your Audience: Use social media to connect with fans and encourage them to share your music. Loyal fans are more likely to stream your tracks repeatedly.
Monetize Beyond Streaming: Explore additional revenue streams like merchandise, live shows, and licensing opportunities.
Focus on Playlists: Landing on popular playlists can significantly boost your streams and visibility.
Analyze Metrics: Platforms like Spotify for Artists provide insights into listener demographics and behavior. Use this data to tailor your promotional strategies.
The Future of Music Economics As technology continues to evolve, the economics of music production and streaming are likely to change as well. Emerging technologies like blockchain could revolutionize royalty payments, ensuring artists receive their fair share instantly. Additionally, virtual reality and metaverse platforms may open new revenue opportunities, such as virtual concerts and interactive fan experiences.
Conclusion The music industry offers countless opportunities for artists willing to navigate its complex economic landscape. By understanding critical aspects like mastership meaning, optimizing income from streams, learning how to add music on Apple Music, and choosing the right tools for production, musicians can achieve both creative and financial success. Whether you’re an aspiring artist or an industry veteran, staying informed and adaptable is key to thriving in this ever-changing environment.

Artist Interview

On Friday I had the pleasure of talking to Alex Gizzo who is a recreational DJ trying to make it as a professional. I have personally known Alex (we call him Gizzo) since early February this year, as I joined the same fraternity as him. Over that past 10 months almost every Friday Gizzo would DJ for our parties, and he has done a very good job so far. Often when people leave we hear them talking about how good he is, and the day after we see him getting compliments on social media. Hearing this made me curious so I decided to head up to room 7 to get an inside scoop of what being a DJ is really about:
“How did you first get into DJing?”
I started DJing about, I would say, almost two years ago now. It kind of started on a whim—I thought it was interesting and seemed like something fun to do, just a hobby to pick up. I don't really do it for profit right now; I just do it for fun, like I said. But yeah.
“What's your process for finding new music?”
Mainly, I find most of my music on SoundCloud, mainly because there are a lot of good remixes that people post. What a lot of DJs do is they’ll upload remixes on SoundCloud and provide high-quality download links. These versions are specifically made for DJs to use in their sets, which is very useful for me. So, yeah, a lot of my music comes from SoundCloud. Other than that, I find a lot of popular music and end up playing that.
“What kind of equipment do you prefer to use?”
I prefer to use my own equipment. Right now, I’m using the DDJ-FLX4, which is a pretty entry-level board and costs around $300. There are definitely more expensive boards out there with more features, but I don’t really see the point in getting one right now. Like I said, I do this as a hobby and don’t make any money from it, so I only need basic equipment to do what I want, and it serves me well.
“How do you prepare for a live set?”
In my software, there’s something called crates, which are basically folders where I can organize my music. I’ll organize it based on genre, mood, BPM—stuff like that. I’ll also make crates specifically tailored for certain events; for example, if I were DJing a country party, I’d go out of my way to find country music and create a crate specifically for that set.
“Have you ever had a technical issue during a performance?”
Yes, I have had technical difficulties during a performance. A few weeks back, my computer decided it didn’t want to work, so I was troubleshooting on the spot. I tried downloading drivers from the Internet and a lot of different things, but what ended up solving it was creating a small folder of my songs, sending it to someone else, using their laptop, and plugging my board into it to continue DJing.
“What are some common misconceptions people have about being a DJ?”
A lot of people think DJing is just clicking a button when, in reality, it’s a lot more than that. I will say it’s easier than it looks, but it does take a good amount of skill to be a good DJ. There’s a big distinction between good and bad DJs. Song selection is difficult, and reading a crowd is something I struggle with, especially since I do this as a hobby and don’t have much experience with crowds. I often don’t know what the crowd wants, and DJs with more experience are definitely better at that. There are also technical aspects, like phrasing—you have to know the songs you’re DJing with very well. Overall, it takes a lot of practice, and I don’t think people realize that.
“Do you have a favorite song to play in your sets or one that always gets the crowd going?”
I have a top three: “Dreams and Nightmares” by Meek Mill, “FE!N” by Travis Scott, and “Mo Bamba” by Sheck Wes. They aren’t my favorite songs in the world, but they’re songs that everyone loves to hear, and the crowd always goes wild for them. So, yeah, those are definitely my top three to play during a set.
“If you could collaborate with any artist who is alive, who would it be and why?”
Fred Again. I started DJing a while back, like I said, and I’ve been trying to learn music production as well. From what I’ve seen, Fred Again is an incredibly talented artist. He knows what he’s doing from a DJ perspective and as a music producer. It’s amazing what he can do with his equipment. Collaborating with Fred Again would be ideal.
In summary, Gizzo is just a dedicated small artist who just DJs as a personal Hobby, he is able to do this by finding new tracks on soundcloud and then creating a specific playlist for each set. Although he is continually sharpening his skills by learning to read the crowd, his love for music ensures a very positive experience from his crowds. Even though at some points in the interview he talks negatively about himself I still consider him one of the best Dj’s I know, and everytime I hear his sets I am always having a good time. I will leave links to his social medias below:
