March Mating Madness
Day 24: Arranged Marriage/Mating of Convenience & Day 25: Scentmates/Soulmates
North Dakota
Ao3 Link
“Munson,” Steve Harrington says, standing on his doorstep, because apparently this is the bullshit the universe is throwing at him today.
He sighs, steps outside. Leans against the doorframe with crossed arms and feigned nonchalance. “I don’t sell from home,” he tells Harrington. “You wanna buy, you can do it at the table behind the school.”
“No, I- I’m not here to buy,” he says. Eddie looks closer, realizes the confidence is feigned bravado. He’s scared.
Eddie narrows his eyes. “Then what are you here for?”
“A mating, hopefully.” He sighs, runs a hand through his perfect hair. “Listen, can I come in? Can we not discuss this outside? ‘Cause I know El’s here with Max and if I know them as well as I think I do, they’re spying on us.”
Eddie blinks, flicks his eyes over to the Mayfields’ trailer. Sure enough, a curtain slots back into place.
Eddie narrows his eyes again, but steps inside, holding the door open for Harrington. “Shoes off. How do you know Mayfield?”
“She’s pack,” he says simply, toeing his shoes off just inside the door. “They both are. There’s some boys too, you might’ve seen Lucas before? Sinclair? He and Max are dating. We’re all pack.”
Eddie motions to the couch, sits down. “You said you’re here for a mating.”
Harrington looks down at his hands, clasped in his lap. “Yeah.”
“I think I’m gonna need a little more than yeah, Harrington.”
He winces. “Um. My parents? They’re trying to marry me off to the highest bidder.”
Eddie’s brow hits the ceiling. “You? King Steve? No way.”
He winces again. “Could you please not call me that? I get that you hate me, and you have every right to, but I’m trying not to be that guy anymore.”
Eddie tilts his head in thought, then nods. “Alright. Still doesn’t mean I believe you.”
Irritation flickers over Harrington’s features. “Why the fuck else would I ask you to mate me, dude?”
Eddie shrugs. “A dare? Laugh at the Freak when he says yes? Any number of reasons, really.”
He scrubs his hands over his face. “I was really shitty to a lot of people,” he starts quietly. “And I get that this might be, like… cosmic judgement, or something. But I refuse to mate the person my parents want me to.”
“Why?”
He sighs. “Take your pick, man. It’s a business deal. He made a joke with my dad about, like, smacking me around, and… compliance, or some shit. He doesn’t see me as a person, he sees me as an object. Some… thing to have sex with whenever he wants it. To hell with whether or not I want it. He’s controlling, manipulative, and I know he won’t be faithful. It’ll be a miracle if I don’t get rejection sickness within the first year.”
Eddie blinks, sits back. “Shit, man.” He thinks for a moment. “And you’re asking for a bite because?”
“If I’m mated, my parents have no recourse, legal or otherwise. A bite should be enough to get them off my back.”
“And if it’s not?”
Harrington shrugs. “I run, I guess. I’ve got- y’know Robin? Buckley? From band?”
“I know of her, sure.”
“She’s… she’s my best friend. Like, in the entire world. She knows what my parents are planning. And if it comes down to it, we’ll run. We’ve got some savings tucked away, but it’s not much. But my whole life is here, my pack is here, and my parents aren’t. Much, at least. I don’t want to leave, at least not without my pack.”
“So why not ask her for her bite? She’s an Alpha too, right?”
“She is, but…” he shakes his head. “I can’t. Mostly because she’d do it.”
“And that’s a bad thing because?”
“Because it would fade. Or we’d separate, because as much as we’re gonna be in each other’s lives for the rest of our lives, we’re not… like that. We’re not meant to be together like that. And I can’t put her through that pain and heartbreak, if I have to bite her too.” He quirks a corner of his lips up. “Plus she’s a terrible liar. My parents would see straight through her.”
“And how do you know I’m a good liar?”
Hazel eyes flick over to him. “You were in theater. I took an educated guess.”
Eddie snorts despite himself. “That’s fair, I guess.” He tilts his head, sighs. “I’m still not sure you’re telling the truth, but say I believe you. What would I have to do?”
He works his lip. “It should just be a bite. That should be enough for them.”
“And if it’s not?”
He shrugs miserably. “I run, I guess. I go to Robin and we run.”
“And you think you won’t get isolation sickness from leaving your pack so quickly?”
“What other choice do I have?” He bursts out, an angry whine tearing its way out of his throat. “I can’t do what my parents want and if I stay in this town there’s no way for me to get away from them! I probably will end up sick but it’s better than fucking killing myself!”
“Shit,” Eddie whispers.
Steve puts his head in his hands. “I can’t,” he whispers. “I would. I’d find a way to kill myself because I know my parents and I know my dad’s friends. There’s no way I’d make it one step out of the door before they find me again. It’s running or suicide but I don’t actually want to die.” He sighs, long and drawn-out. “Yet.”
“Okay,” Eddie decides.
Steve peeks up at him. “Okay?”
“I’ll bite you. If your parents want to meet me, you’ll bite me. We’ll find a way to dissolve it after that won’t end up in sickness.”
Steve studies him. “You mean it.”
Eddie spreads his hands. “What gave it away?”
He cracks a smile. “Mostly the lack of any jokes.”
Eddie snickers, stands. “C’mon. I was about to make lunch when you showed up. Hungry?”
“Oh,” he says. “Yeah, actually. Thank you.”
Eddie makes mac and cheese, silently daring Steve to say something about the box, but he just meekly thanks Eddie when he’s handed a bowl.
“Y’know,” Eddie starts, mouth full, “you’re not who I thought you were.”
Steve blinks down at his bowl. “Um. Thank you?”
Eddie grins. “Yeah, it’s a compliment.” He swallows, looks down at his bowl to scrape together another bite. “Thought you were perfect, in the worst sense of the word. You’ve got the hair, the looks, the car… people of every secondary gender lusting after you. What could you possibly not have? Especially that I do?” He shrugs. “Choice, apparently.”
Steve huffs a breath out. Eddie thinks it might be a laugh, or something trying to be one, in any case. “Yeah. Most castles are also dungeons.”
“Shit,” Eddie murmurs, leaning back in his seat and regarding Steve with wide eyes. “You’re kinda metal, Harrington, you know that?”
He looks up at Eddie uncertainly. “Is that a good thing?”
“Hell yeah that’s a good thing,” Eddie agrees, stuffing another bite into his mouth. “You want the bite today? Or was today to just pitch the idea to me?”
“No, I- if I can, if you don’t mind- today, please.”
Eddie leans back, looks at the clock. “You got anywhere to be in… six-ish hours?”
“Um,” Steve says. “No?”
“Cool. I live here with my uncle, and he’s chill, he won’t mind, but he’ll definitely mind not knowing about it.”
“Oh,” Steve says. “Okay, yeah. Makes sense, I guess. So… you want to wait until after you tell him?”
“After we tell him. If you don’t mind telling him.”
“No, I don’t mind.”
“Okay. Until then,” Eddie grins, “I’m pretty sure you should know your Alpha more than just surface-level. Your parents are gonna have questions, right?”
“Probably,” Steve agrees, looking vaguely nauseous.
Eddie tilts his head. “Can I ask a question?”
“You just did,” Steve retorts, then colors. “Sorry. Yeah.”
Eddie snickers. “You’re kinda bitchy. I like it. Do you wear blockers because you want to or because you’re forced to?”
Steve’s breath catches in his throat. He glances at Eddie’s neck, his uncovered gland. “It’s- it’s not proper,” he starts, then bites his lip.
“That what your parents tell you?”
Steve nods.
Eddie hums. “I don’t mind. Wayne won’t, either. If you want to take the patches off.” He frowns. “Do you- wear them at home, too?”
Steve sighs, won’t meet his eyes. “I think, maybe, me being an omega is the improper thing.”
“Well fuck that,” Eddie says, grinning and winking at Steve. “C’mon. I’ll show you mine?”
Steve giggles, glancing at Eddie before looking away and peeling the patch off.
In just a minute, a new scent starts to filter through the trailer. Peaches and raspberries, and something a little sour from the anxiety starting to show on his face.
Eddie sends out reassurance, calm-happy Alpha scent. He knows from Wayne that it smells like pine and petrichor, and as soon as Steve gets a sniff he begins to calm down. “Oh,” he murmurs, glancing at Eddie’s neck, then back away. “You, um.” His cheeks flush. “You smell good.”
Eddie chuckles. “Thanks. You too. I like fruit.”
“Um,” Steve says, confused, “I like fruit, too?”
“No, ‘cause- ‘cause of your scent? Peaches and raspberries.”
Steve shakes his head, brows furrowed. “Robin says I scent like marshmallows,” he says. “What, um- what do people say you scent like?”
Eddie’s heart slams double-time in his chest. Says quietly, “I’m guessing to you I don’t smell like pine and petrichor?”
Steve’s eyes widen as he shakes his head again. “You scent like the beach, to me,” he whispers. “And, like- sunset? I know that doesn’t make sense, but-”
“No, I- I get it. The moment when the sun goes down and it gets cooler?”
“Yeah,” Steve murmurs, eyes still saucer-wide. “Are we-”
“Looks like it,” Eddie agrees, glancing at Steve’s neck and leaning over, extending a hand, stopping just before he touches. “Can I?”
Steve nods, eyes wide, so Eddie does, rubs their glands together. His eyes widen at the feeling that zings through him. He keeps a tight leash on his scent until he smells the peaches and raspberries bloom, sweet and floral and fruity. His eyes widen even more. “You’re… happy?”
The fruit suddenly turns, goes bad. “Um.”
“No, shit, I-” he scrambles over on the couch, grabs Steve’s hands, lets his own scent bloom and fill out, tangible happiness. “Steve.”
Fruit turns ripe again as Steve’s eyes meet Eddie’s. “You are too?”
“I’m a fuckin’ idiot,” Eddie tells him, “but yeah.”
“You are not.”
“Mhm. So is now a good or a bad time to tell you about the embarrassing crush I had on you starting your junior year?”
“No,” Steve gasps. “Really?”
“Yup. ‘Course, I a little bit hated you too, but that’s a separate issue.”
Steve snickers. “Of course.” He softens as he watches Eddie. “I am glad it’s you,” he says softly. “Out of everyone.”
“Why?”
Steve looks down at their hands, still intertwined. “The Alpha my parents chose for me wouldn’t let me make my own decisions. Would decide everything for me. Probably enforce a strict regimen for me. I’d be… nothing to him. He wouldn’t see me as a person. But you will.”
“Of course I would,” Eddie bites out, scent going tar-sharp. “Because you’re a fucking human being.”
Steve shrugs, squeezes his fingers a little. “He wouldn’t see it that way. A lot of people—Alphas, really, especially in the business world—still see omegas, especially male omegas, as… secondary. Sub-human.”
“Which is fucking stupid.” Eddie sighs. “Wayne’s a beta, so he… kinda gets it, y’know? So I kinda get it, like, by proxy.”
Steve hums, shifts. “Yeah. Okay, this is a complete one-eighty, but… I mentioned Robin, right?”
“Yeah.”
“Okay. She’s my absolute best friend in the entire world, we’re closer than anyone. She’s an Alpha but we’re not, like, together. Is that… going to be a problem?”
Eddie makes a face. “What the fuck? No! Be friends with who you want to be friends with!”
“Oh, thank god,” Steve whispers, sagging against the couch. “We’re basically siblings, except we tell each other everything, and I do mean everything, and-”
Eddie snickers. “You wanna call her and tell her we’re scentmates.”
“Yes!” Steve exclaims, then pulls back. “Unless- is that-”
“It’s fine, is what it is. She’s probably gonna threaten me, isn’t she?”
“Yeah. Uh. She might threaten you. Sorry in advance if she does.”
“Steve,” Eddie says quietly, “you don’t ever have to apologize for someone loving you so completely.”
“Oh,” Steve whispers, staring at Eddie.
He inclines his head with a small smile. “Phone’s right there. Want me to talk to her after?”
“I- yeah, she- like we said, she’s gonna want to talk to you.” He frowns at Eddie. “You really don’t care?”
“That you’re friends? No.”
“We’re, like- it’s not just friends, though. She’s my soulmate.”
Eddie snickers. “As long as she’s not your scentmate. That would merit a talk.”
Steve smiles. “No, we’re not scentmates. Just… closer than any non-bonded people have any right being.”
“Steve,” Eddie reminds him, “my nickname is the freak. I’m pretty sure you can’t out-freak me.”
“You’d be surprised,” Steve murmurs, walking over to the phone and dialing Robin’s number.
They speak for a few minutes before he calls Eddie over. “Please be nice,” he begs her, then hands the phone over.
“-talking about, I’m always nice,” Robin retorts.
Eddie blinks. “Hello?”
“Eddie.”
“That’s me.”
“You’re Steve’s scentmate.”
“I mean. Yeah?”
Robin hums. “How do you feel about it?”
“Honestly?” He smiles at Steve. “Really good. I’m really happy.”
“And he explained how close we are?”
“He did.”
“What did you say?”
“He apologized for you threatening me, and I told him he never needs to apologize for someone loving him so completely.”
“Oh, shit,” Robin says knowingly. “Did he cry?”
“Almost,” Eddie chuckles. “Listen, Robin, you can properly threaten me later, but he wanted to call you as soon as we found out, so we haven’t really gotten a chance to talk yet. Maybe the three of us could do lunch later this week? My treat?”
“If you’re trying to bribe me out of threatening you, it’s only a little bit working. Lunch sounds good. Tuesday?”
“Tuesday?” Eddie asks Steve, who thinks, then nods. “Tuesday works,” he confirms.
“Tell Robin I’ll pick her up,” Steve whispers.
“Tell Steve he’s picking me up,” Robin says.
Eddie blinks, then bursts out laughing. “You two just said the exact same thing at the exact same time.”
“Yeah,” Steve nods.
“We do that,” Robin finishes.
Eddie shakes his head. “Damn that’s freaky. Okay, see you Tuesday, Robin.”
“Yup.” She hangs up, so he does the same, then pulls Steve back over to the couch.
“So.”
“So,” Steve parrots.
“We should probably talk more about your parents.”
Steve groans. “Probably.”
“If- if you don’t want to-”
“No, it’s- I can, just-” he bites his lip, looks at Eddie, looks away.
“What?” Eddie asks softly.
“Can, uh. Like, the hands is nice, but can we-”
“Oh,” Eddie says, catching on, “yeah, sweetheart, come here.”
Steve trills softly as he settles by Eddie’s side, leaning on him, resting his head on Eddie’s shoulder. “So. What do you want to know?”
“I think it’s more a question of what they’re going to want to know about me. I know the type of person you’re talking about. I know I do my best to not associate with them.”
Steve scoffs. “Sounds like a dream.”
“It takes some work, but it’s worth it. You hopin’ to distance yourself from them?”
“I think so. Especially now- I never thought…”
“Yeah,” Eddie murmurs, pulling him in closer, as if he could protect Steve from the thoughts in his own head. “You never think it could be you until it is.”
“Exactly,” Steve murmurs back, then sighs. “They’re going to want to know that you can provide for me. Not because they care about me, because they care about their image.”
Eddie snorts. “They’re going to love the fact that I’m a drug dealer, then.”
Steve giggles. “Probably not. Anything they’re going to want to know about you… they’re not interested in getting to know you. They’re interested only in their status, in how other people see them. In the stories they can bring back to their friends to prove that they’re better.”
“Well ain’t we just a slap in the face,” Eddie mutters, lip quirking up.
“We really are,” Steve agrees. “I don’t care, though. Once we’re bonded… you’re my Alpha. They have no legal recourse.”
“Would they try something illegal?”
Steve sighs. “Maybe. Probably. Depends on how much this Alpha was gonna pay them.”
Eddie’s silent for a minute. “I’ll have to talk to Wayne, but it shouldn’t be an issue. Space’ll be a little tight but I’ll find a job, I know the mechanic’s hiring and Bill’s a friend of Wayne’s, owes him a favor I think.”
Steve shifts back to look up at Eddie, brow furrowed. “What are you talking about?”
Eddie blinks at him. “You moving in.” He waves a hand around. “If they’re gonna try something illegal, it’s gonna be a hell of a lot harder to do if you no longer live in their house.” He pauses suddenly. “I mean, of course, if you’d rather not move in, I get it-”
“You were right,” Steve says, snuggling back in to Eddie’s side, happy omega scent blooming. “You are an idiot. Of course I want to move in with you.” A pause, then, “you’d get a job?”
“Course I would. I need to take care of you, don’t I? Buy you sweet things to make you smile? Your favorite candy just because? A flower because I like the way you blush?” A blush crawls up Steve’s cheeks, and Eddie leans in to nuzzle it. “All those things cost money, darlin’, and dealing is a nice hobby, but it ain’t gonna cut it as my only source of income.” He shifts, shrugs. “‘Sides, uh. I dunno if you want pups? But I know what growing up as the son of a dealer was like, and I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.”
Steve looks up at him, wide-eyed. “But not- you said-”
“Not Wayne,” Eddie soothes. “He’s my dad’s brother in name only. Dear ol’ Pa, may the devil be tap-dancing on his soul, was the drug addict of the family. Taught me some things, though. Like how to hotwire a car.”
Steve snickers. “Please don’t.”
“What if it’s your car? And you’re right there watching me?”
Steve wiggles around, turning where he sits to face Eddie and cup his face in his palms. “Eddie,” he begins, eyes wide and serious. “My car is my baby. You are not touching her.”
“Noted,” Eddie agrees. “Idea forgotten.” A pause, “your parents’ car?”
Steve collapses in laughter, leaning forward so his forehead rests on Eddie’s shoulder as he shakes with the force of his giggles.
He calms down a few minutes later, relaxing into the feeling of Eddie running a hand up and down in his back. “In all seriousness,” he tells Eddie, “they’ll definitely have you arrested for that. And it’ll be a hell of a lot easier to do what they want with me if my Alpha’s locked up.”
Eddie’s scent sours. “I was due for a pickup in about a week or so,” Eddie says thoughtfully. “I’ll tell Rick I can’t make it, won’t be his gofer any more. We can smoke the rest of my stash, it’s just weed. I’ll talk to Wayne tonight about talking with Bill sometime soon.”
“Eddie-”
“Steve,” Eddie interrupts softly, shaking his head with a small smile. “I was pretty done anyways. It’s no secret I had to retake senior year twice, and it’s a badly-kept secret that I’m a dealer. It doesn’t take much to put two and two together, even if it’s not right. People weren’t really buying anymore anyways.”
Steve looks up at Eddie. “Why did you have to repeat twice?”
Eddie hums. “Honestly? I kept forgetting to turn in my homework first go ‘round, and the second I decided I just… didn’t really care. This year I stepped it up, turned in my work, actually came to class… hell, I even participated in gym. I want to be the first in my family to graduate.”
“You will be,” Steve whispers. “I believe in you.”
Eddie hides his smile in Steve’s hair. “I’m glad.”
They spend the next hour or so talking on the couch until Wayne gets back, blinking at the boys cuddling on the couch, then moving on to the kitchen. “I’m makin’ grilled cheese, speak now or forever hold your peace.”
“Sit down,” Eddie calls back, laughing. “That’s your tired meal, old man, you can’t hide from me. And we wanna talk to you anyways.”
Wayne sighs and sits in his chair, nodding at Steve. “Hello.”
“Hello, sir.”
“Wayne,” he corrects kindly. “I recognize you.”
“You, uh. You probably know my father.”
Wayne smiles. “Probably. ‘Ve been here long enough, I recognize just ‘bout everybody.” His eyes turn kinder, somehow. “Who’s your father, boy?”
Steve looks down. Eddie tightens his hold on Steve’s shoulders. “Richard Harrington.”
Wayne hums. “Yeah, I know ‘im. Knew ‘im, more like, left soon as he was able. Came back with a pretty little wife from the big city.” He leans slightly, catches Steve’s eye. “In this house, we don’t judge based on who your daddy is.”
“Thank you,” Steve whispers.
Wayne leans back, nods. “Now. Eddie?”
Eddie shakes his head. “It’s his story, Wayne. What I can tell you…” he looks down at Steve, smiles. “We’re scentmates.”
Wayne inhales sharply. “Well then,” he says, smiling at Steve again, “welcome home.”
Steve immediately tears up. “Shit,” he mutters, pawing at his face. “Sorry, I’m- thank you, I’m sorry, I don’t-”
Eddie shushes him, pushes his hands down, gently wipes his face. “Hey, sweetness, it’s okay. A little water never hurt anybody.”
Steve sniffles. “Hurt the wicked witch of the west.”
Eddie giggles. “Then it’s a good thing no one here’s a witch, huh?” He pushes out comfort, and Steve relaxes into him, letting his eyes flutter shut as Eddie wipes underneath them with his thumbs. “You’re home,” he whispers. “Wanna tell Wayne why?”
Steve looks up at him with hopeful eyes. “Can you?”
Eddie holds his gaze for a minute, then pulls Steve back in. “Sure I can.”
He tells Wayne what led Steve to the trailer earlier that afternoon. Wayne stays silent, then when Eddie’s finished, he nods. “Alright. So what’s for dinner?”
Eddie immediately looks to Steve, who shakes his head. “No, it’s okay. I’m not picky.”
“Steve,” Eddie tells him, “you’re both a guest and my mate. You get to decide.”
Steve’s eyes sparkle. “Then I decide that I don’t want to decide.”
Eddie narrows his eyes at Steve just as Wayne bursts out laughing. “You’re gonna be good for him, kid,” Wayne tells Steve, who grins back. “Grilled cheese sound okay to you?”
“Sure,” Steve agrees. “I can help?”
Wayne shrugs an unaffected shoulder. “You could,” he says. “Or you two could go into his room an’ make it official. And do whatever comes after that.”
Steve blushes at the implication, but can’t argue that he’s practically itching for Eddie’s bite. He turns to ask Eddie and is arrested by the look in his eyes.
“Up to you,” Eddie murmurs, hungry eyes tracking Steve’s every move.
Steve nods, stands, and approaches Wayne. He pitches his voice low as he asks where Eddie’s room is, and after Wayne tells him—also quietly—he glances back at Eddie, just once, before taking off.
He hears Eddie laugh behind him as he scrambles off the couch. “Oh, you fucker!” Eddie yells gleefully, chasing him into his room and tackling him onto the bed, laughing along with Steve up until he pushes his nose into Steve’s scent gland and inhales.
Steve whimpers loudly and pushes at Eddie’s chest. “The- get the door, please, Eddie-”
Eddie rolls off the bed with a half-hearted grumble and shuts the door before jumping back onto the bed, bracketing Steve with a grin. “Hi.”
“Hi,” Steve giggles.
“Are you ready?”
Steve settles his hands on Eddie’s waist. “Are you?”
“Almost,” he admits. “It feels a little weird, biting you before kissing you.”
A slight tug on his hips. “We can change that.” Steve leans up a little, nudges their noses together. Eddie pushes in until Steve’s laying down again. Eddie slides his nose off to the side, landing on Steve’s cheek as his lips barely brush Steve’s.
The grip on his hips tighten. “Don’t tease,” Steve begs, and Eddie acquiesces.
He pushes in harder, locking their lips together in a kiss that goes from zero to one hundred in less than a second as Steve parts his lips on a moan.
Eddie licks in between them with no hesitation. His aim is sucking Steve’s soul out from between his teeth, and based on the whimper that escapes, he’s successful.
He pulls back to pant out, “fuck, where’ve you been all my life, sweetheart?”
Steve gives a breathless laugh. “Right here, apparently, if it weren’t for my parents.”
“Fuck ‘em,” Eddie agrees. “Wanna bite you, baby, wanna show ‘em, give you my mark. Can I?”
“Fuck,” Steve breathes out, writhing. “Please, want it, Eddie, want you-”
“Yeah, I gotcha, baby, I gotcha, gonna mate you, omega-”
He latches his teeth into Steve’s skin and he goes boneless. “Alpha,” he whispers, horny and reverent, fingers pressing flower petal bruises into his hips.
“C’mon, ‘mega,” Eddie whispers back, blood in his teeth and sliding down his throat like honey. “Want your bite too, wanna complete it. Want you to feel me like I feel you.”
“Yeah,” Steve whispers, leaning up. “Yeah, please, wan’it-”
“Take it,” Eddie whispers, and slots his mark into Steve’s mouth.
Steve bites down and moans, and then Eddie moans, and he nudges his hips into Steve’s one last time—when had he even started?—and comes as Steve stiffens up, also coming.
Eddie collapses onto Steve, nudging his nose into Steve’s gland, as they both get their breath back.
“Fuck,” Steve breathes. “Shit. I didn’t know it could be that good.”
Eddie snickers. “And we haven’t even done anything yet.”
Steve looks at him mock-seriously. “I might actually die.”
Eddie laughs and starts sucking a bruise into Steve’s jaw. “Nah,” he pulls back to say. “I’ll be careful with you.”
“Fuck,” Steve mutters. “Eddie, can’t go again this soon.” He pushes ineffectually at Eddie’s shoulder, and Eddie moves away from his jaw, kissing up his cheek and over to his mouth instead.
“I wanna say something crazy right now,” he tells Steve.
Steve’s eyebrows raise. “I doubt anything could be crazier than asking an Alpha you barely know to mate them.”
Eddie crawls up Steve’s body and rolls them over on the their sides. Says into Steve’s hair, “I love you.”
Steve pulls back to see his face. “You do?”
Eddie nods. “I know it’s insane, and way too soon-”
Steve bursts into tears.
Eddie’s heart drops somewhere into his left thigh. “Baby?”
Steve cries harder, but he’s still scenting sweet as pie, and Eddie is thoroughly confused.
He decides to give Steve a few minutes, and eventually he calms down, wiping at his face and sniffling. “Sorry.”
“You don’t need to apologize,” Eddie tells him softly. “I’m just confused.”
“I just…” Steve waves a hand around, laughs at himself a little. “I fall fast, and I fall hard, and I’ve never… I’ve never met anyone who falls like I do. And it’s always me getting left with the broken heart. So for you to say it first, and after, like, three hours… I mean, yeah, it’s insane, but holy shit, Eddie, I love you too.”
“Oh,” Eddie says. “Good.”
Steve giggles, pressing back into Eddie’s chest. “Yeah. Good.”
Eddie sighs, wraps Steve up in a hug. “Now there’s just one thing to figure out.”
“What’s that?”
Eddie hums. “It’s not really an if Wayne heard us. These walls are ‘bout as thick as paper. So the question is, do you think we can sneak out the window, escape to North Dakota, and change our names?”
Steve giggles again. “Change our names? Who’d you be?”
“Hm,” Eddie thinks. “I always liked the name Joseph.”
Steve pulls back. “No!”
Eddie blinks. “No?”
“That’s my middle name!”
“Oh, shit!” Eddie laughs. “No wonder I like it!” He nudges Steve’s cheek with his nose. “What name would you choose?”
Steve sighs, settles back into Eddie’s chest. “I like the name Elias,” he admits softly.
Eddie’s quiet for a few moments. “Can I say something else crazy?”
“Hm?”
“I like Joseph Elias. As a baby name.”
Steve’s arms tighten around Eddie’s waist. “Yeah,” he breathes out. “Me too.”
A little over a year later, Steve holds Joseph in his arms as Eddie watches. “Our North Dakota boy,” Eddie murmurs, petting over Steve’s hair.
“Ours,” Steve agrees quietly, smiling up at Eddie.

When Steve Harrington invites you to a birthday party, he fails to mention it’s for a four-year-old.
The tiny trailer is decked out in decoration. A fusion of black and rainbow, of bats and unicorns, of vampires and Tickle Me Elmo — like no one could land on a singular theme.
Steve guides you into the home with a golden hand on the small of your back, his other clutching a sparkly black bag with Count von Count’s face on it. You stop very suddenly in your tracks. Happy 4th Birthday, Maeve! reads a handpainted sign draped beneath the ceiling.
You become very hyperaware of the whiskey bottle in your right hand, something you figured would be the most sufficient thing to gift someone you’d never met before. You just hadn’t expected the stranger to be a child.
“What the fuck, Steve?” you bite under your breath, glaring at the boy beside you. “I thought you said this was your friend’s birthday party?”
“Maeve is my friend,” he answers with a stupid shrug. “Though, to be fair, I did say it was my friend’s kid’s birthday party.”
He most definitely hadn’t.
“What the hell— I brought booze!”
“That’s okay,” assures a wild-haired boy with a pretty pink grin as he walks up to the two of you. The friend in question.
Eddie Munson wears a silver ring on each finger and a thick leather jacket despite the warming spring season. His laughter sounds like sunshine. His smile is bright enough to give you a goddamn sunburn.
“Maeve’s been getting presents all day— It’s about time someone got somethin’ for me,” he jokes.
You grimace while the two boys laugh. “Sorry…” you murmur as you pass him the bottle, shrinking inside yourself in an attempt to hide from the moment. I’m never letting Steve convince me to leave the house again, you think to yourself.
Eddie shrugs. “Don’t worry about it. Seriously. I’ll go stick this in the kitchen— Make yourself at home.”
Your racing heart quells only slightly. He must be more of a good guy than Steve made him out to be, if he’s willing to keep you around after you brought booze to his daughter’s party. Though, you’ll contend that you were only half at fault for this.
Steve bites back a chuckle as he walks you to the back door, standing with you on the little wooden deck lined with sparkly streamers. There’s a picnic table off in the distance, covered in a bat-patterned cloth and set with Sesame Street-themed utensils. A small crowd of teenagers gather around it, and a couple of their parents, you figure.
The spring breeze only half soothes your burning skin.
“See?” he lilts, trying not to laugh and failing. “He likes you already—”
You swat his chest with a less than kind hand.
“Ow!”
“I’m gonna fucking kill you, Harrington, I swear to—”
“What’s your favorite animal?” a tiny voice asks from behind you, a smidge too loud and confusing their R’s with W’s.
You look over your shoulder, face flooded with horror. A kid with wild chocolate hair stands at less than half your height, wearing the tiniest Ozzy Osbourne shirt you’ve ever seen beneath a rainbow tutu. You don’t know what to say, so you just blink at it for a moment — at her.
“Hey, Maeve,” Steve greets with a curt wave.
The girl beams, missing her very front tooth. “Hi, Uncle Steve!”
“Wha— Huh?” you stammer mindlessly. ‘Cause you’re not exactly the best at talking to people your own age, let alone to children. They’re too honest. And too loud. And beyond still feeling like a kid yourself most days, you don’t have anything in common with them.
“What’s your favorite animal?” Maeve repeats in the same inflection, smiling until a dimple appears in her freckled cheek. “Mine’s a Hefflelump.”
“Hef… Hefflelump?” you echo quietly, only vaguely registering Steve’s laughter as he disappears through the screeching screen door, leaving you all alone. You’re definitely killing him for this.
“Yeah… From Winne the Pooh!” she says like it’s obvious.
“Oh… Okay…”
“What’s yours?”
You stumble over your words to find an answer. “Um… Uh… I don’t— I don’t know…”
“Everyone has a favorite animal,” she scoffs like some kinda critic with a speech impediment. She tilts her chin to her chest and peers up at you with a pair of doe eyes, so brown they’re almost black. You shift your weight on your feet, visibly uncomfortable beneath her unwavering stare.
“Maybe like a… A blobfish, or something?” you shrug.
Her tiny face screws in disgust. “Gross,” she spits.
You flinch. “What? Why is that gross?” you retort, crossing your arms over your chest, more defensive than you’d like to admit.
“They’re so ugly,” Maeve giggles.
“Why?” you squint. “‘Cause they look differently than we do?”
“No!” she laughs, loud and golden, just like her father. “’S ‘cause they’re so slimy.”
“Well— You— You’re slimy,” you stammer.
The wild-haired girl grins with all her baby teeth (well, besides the front one, anyway). “You’re slimy!” she echoes with a mischievous twinkle in her chocolate eyes.
The screen door squeals open again, the rusted hinges screeching in protest. “Who’s slimy?” a male voice questions from behind you, a smile audible in his voice.
“You are!” you and Maeve chorus at the same time.
You whip your head around a second too late. Your heart drops to your ass when you find Eddie lingering in the doorway behind you. You stumble over your words while Maeve giggles. “Sorry! I thought— I thought you were Steve! I’m so sorry!”
A chuckle sputters from Eddie’s mouth. He’s nearly as grieved by it all as you are. “He just left,” he tells you with a lopsided smile, cocking his thumb over his shoulder. “I think he’s helping Wayne out front. They’re putting together Maeve’s d-o-l-l-h-o-u-s-e.”
His eyes flit upward as he tries hard to spell the word correctly. Upon your confused look, he says, “I can’t say it, or she’ll know what I’m talking about.”
“Right,” you nod.
Eddie crouches and holds his arms out for his daughter. Maeve’s tiny feet patter against the wooden deck as she rushes to him. He huffs at the weight of her — heavier than he remembers and getting bigger every day (which is weird ‘cause she was a newborn, like, a week ago). He grunts when he picks her up, propping her weight on his side.
“What were the two of you talkin’ about, then?”
“Blobfish!” she shouts with a beam.
Eddie breathes out a faint chuckle and turns to you. “She’s forcin’ you to pick a favorite animal, huh?” he wonders, then laughs a bit louder when you nod. “Yeah, she’s been doing that all day. It’s her new thing,” he says, nuzzling the tip of his nose into her curls.
Realization seems to him then, and his brows furrow when he looks at you. His face, all twisted in confusion, is an exact replica of Maeve’s.
“Wait— Your favorite animal is a blobfish?”
“That’s what I said!” the girl laughs.
You shift your weight on your feet and cross your arms over your chest. “I’m… feeling very judged in this moment…” you murmur under your breath, only half joking.
“I think that’s the most creative answer we’ve had yet, huh, Mae?” Eddie chuckles.
You scoff. “Well, I think Hefflelump’s pretty creative considering—”
The boy clears his throat, seeming to sense the rest of your sentence. His eyes widen in a lighthearted glare before he nods to the girl on his hip. Only then do you realize the words sitting on the tip of your tongue. You swallow them down immediately.
“Right…” you nod instead. “Nevermind…”
“Here—” Eddie huffs as he sets the girl down again. “—Go find Aunt Robin, alright? She’s probably decorating your cake as we speak.”
Maeve rushes off at the word cake, tottering on lanky, ungraceful legs. The two of you watch her go and linger in an awkward silence. Neither of you is quite sure how to make conversation without her there. You decide to start with an apology.
“I’m, uh, I’m sorry, by the way. Again,” you laugh awkwardly at yourself, scratching at the back of your neck. “I’m not… I’m not really… great with kids. If you couldn’t already tell.”
Eddie grins, pink and lopsided and pretty. You don’t feel deserving of the warmth swimming in his button eyes, glimmering beneath an early setting sun. “It’s okay. Seriously. You should’ve seen Robin and Steve the first time they met her— they were hopeless. And now they’re… Sort of alright, I guess.”
You force a faint chuckle. “Yeah, I’m— I’m just not used to being around them, I guess. I don’t even think I’ve talked to a kid her age since, like, elementary school.”
“I was the same way. ’Til I had Maeve and all…”
“Well, I couldn’t tell,” you assure him with a wavering smile. “You’re, like, a total pro. You’re great with her.”
He ducks his head to hide his blushing cheeks. The apples of them speckle warm and pink beneath the weight of your compliment.
“Well… thank you,” he says, deflecting from your praise with that stupid, posh, D&D accent he always uses when he gets nervous. You don’t notice him grimacing at himself because you’re still stewing in your own embarrassment.
“And sorry for the booze, too. I seriously didn’t mean to bring— I mean, Steve didn’t even tell me that—”
“Stop apologizing,” Eddie chuckles warmly. “That part’s not your fault, alright? I don’t know if you know this or not, but your boyfriend’s a total idiot.”
Your face screws up. “Oh, he’s not— Steve’s not my boyfriend.”
The boy’s smile ebbs. “No?”
“No. No way!” you laugh before you mean to. “I’m pretty sure I’m just, like, his replacement best friend since Robin started dating Vickie.”
Wide-eyed and distantly relieved, Eddie stammers like a teenage boy. “Oh. Right. That’s… That’s cool. Yeah.”
“Yeah…” you echo.
“Well, uh— I’m gonna see if Wayne wants any help,” he blurts despite knowing he’s been barred from doing handy work since he nearly drove a nail through his own finger. He just needs a way out, lest he keep stumbling over himself and lose all of his cool points with you.
He saunters backward through the opened door and nearly trips over the frame.
You bite back a laugh. He forces a wavering smile.
“But, um, I was thinkin’ about cracking open that bottle you brought. You know, after Maeve’s in bed and everything. If you— If you wanna hang around that long…”
The silence makes him as nervous as a teenage boy, all writhing and uncomfy in his skin. You nod in agreement, and his sparkling chest swells all over again. “Yeah,” you reply, lip quirked in a poorly hidden smile. “Sure. I’d— I’d like that…”
He smiles, all proud of himself. “Good. That’s… That’s good,” he stutters, then swallows hard and scurries off before you change your mind.
Before he shuts the squealing screen door behind him, you hear Robin’s voice exclaim loudly from the kitchen. “What the hell’s a blobfish?!”

Of claws and waffles
I'm preparing to write the rest of the Steddie Angsty August during my vacation at the end of September, I want to enjoy the rest of the prompts and not be stressed. But in the meantime...have Steve cosplaying as Wolverine, a very judgmental Deadpool Eddie, and maybe a small X-23 too?
"Ugh, can you believe that?" Eddie gestured towards a guy in his mid-thirties dressed as the Wolverine. "Another jock jumping on the bandwagon without knowing anything about the comics. Saw it once in the movie theater, thought the costume would do wonders for his arms, bought it on ebay. I'm gonna be sick in my mask."
Even through the limited visibility of his Deadpool mask, Eddie saw Chrissy roll her eyes at his theatrics. "Go ahead. At least you'll wash it after the convention. By hand, because as you told me, the fabric is sensitive."
He just grumbled. She was right, as usual.
"You are so full of self-righteous fury, Eddie, but even through the mask, I can see you staring at that man's ass. And shoulders. And everything."
He threw his head back, almost howling. "Now you're just being mean."
"Plus," she continued, disregarding her best friend's whining, "You're not exactly being fair. You don't know him."
Now he rolled his eyes, but of course she couldn't see him. "I know his type. He's the high school sweetheart who spent most of his time in the gym or practicing moving his godly body or something."
Chrissy smiled at him, that overly beaing smile that told him in an instant that he'd said something stupid. "Ah. So like me."
"I..." he gulped, "I think I'm just going to shut up now."
He tried looking around for something, anything to redirect the conversation. Suddenly, a perfect topic changer appeared in his sight. "Okay, but that's the cutest thing I've ever seen," he nudged Chrissy and pointed at the scrawny girl, twelve or so, dressed up as X-23. "Her parents must be amazing."
Chrissy's laughter rang in his ears. "Oh, I agree," she said. As if she knew something he didn't.
He choked on his words when the girl ran back to THAT Wolverine and took his hand. "Oh for fuck's sake."
"You said it," she nudged him. "Amazing parents."
As if that wasn't humiliating enough, before Eddie could find a shovel to dig a hole to disappear into, the girl noticed him and her face split in a wide smile. "Dad! Dad, look! Mr. Pool!" She started leading him to Eddie and Chrissy through the crowd.
Oh cool. If only Eddie could do something dignified to avoid the meeting, like faint or vomit, that would be awesome. But he couldn't disappoint the girl. She had a look of absolute joy in her eyes, and he'd be damned if he was the one to make it disappear.
So instead, he leaned into the character.
"Look at you, aren't you the cutest little clawed thing I've ever seen!" he announced to the whole world. "The deadliest tiny creature, very ferocious! Yes, you are!"
He knelt down to her level and even through the consistent noise of the convention, he could hear her giggling. "I am!"
"Come on, tiny terror. Give me your best Wolverine-y growl!"
To his delight, she crouched, imitated the battle pose of X-23 and roared at him like a dinosaur. Then, in a more quiet tone, "Was that good?"
"Good?! Only good?! Do you hear her, bub?" he addressed the Wolverine who hovered over both of them. "You, little lady, were absolutely amazing! 10/10, no notes, this is your calling in life."
He felt someone move behind his back, and of course it was the traitor, ahem, Chrissy, approaching them with a camera. "I'm sorry to disturb you guys, but you make such an amazing group. Can I take your picture?"
And okay, maybe Eddie misjudged the Jockerine, because the guy ruffled X-23's hair and told her, "OK, just this once, you can say it. Swearing permitted. Ready?"
They pulled Eddie to them, and as he unsheathed his katana replicas, the Wolverine and his daughter crouched, roared at the camera, and said together, "Let's fucking go."
Eddie's traitorous mouth said exactly what he was thinking. "Oh my god. Are you single?" Which was objectively a stupid thing to say even to someone he'd met longer than two minutes ago.
The Wolverine blinked at him.
X-23 giggled and said: "dad is single. Maybe he doesn't have to be now?"
To the guy's credit, he didn't seem offended. He just laughed and ran his hand through his absolutely majestic hair that was perfectly stylized into Wolverine's. Shit. The hair. First the body, the face, and now the hair. "Now, El. Mr. Pool here probably doesn't want to be matched with the first Wolverine he sees."
And maybe it was the costume that made him so brave, but the guy was hot, nice, and his daughter was adorable, so Eddie wasn't to be blamed for what he said next, okay? "Uh, actually," he raised his hands, "you're perhaps my tenth Wolvie or so. And clearly the superior one. Having this absolutely adorable - and terrifying! - young lady by your side is also a plus. So...and feel free to stab me, or maybe just tell me no, but - I saw a really nice waffle stand outside. Let me treat you and...El?" The girl nodded, beaming at him. "...to a waffle? Or coffee, water, your choice."
El tugged at the guy's arm again. "Waffle!" she whispered so loud even Chrissy heard it.
He smiled at Eddie, and fuck. Eddie was a goner. "I think that's a yes."
...
Chrissy had ditched them to go hang out with her girlfriend, so Steve, Eddie and El were on their own.
They were sitting outside, Eddie slurping his bubble tea through a straw, mask still in place except for the bottom of his face, Steve - as the guy had introduced himself - sipping his coffee and diligently watching El chatting with other kids, nibbling on her waffles.
"So, is this your first convention?" Eddie asked. "Your kid is amazing, man. She's so happy to be here and she makes an amazing X-23."
Steve smiled and peeled his eyes from El for a second. "Yeah. I promised to take her this year, but after she saw Logan and the third Deadpool movie, she begged to go in a costume. And I just couldn't say no to her."
"She saw..." Eddie coughed. "Steve, sorry to question your parenting, but isn't she a bit too young for those movies?"
"Oh, she is," Steve snorted. "And she shouldn't have seen them. But we live alone, so I usually watch movies at home when she goes to sleep. If she goes to sleep. As she should."
"Are you telling me-"
Steve nodded. "Yep. She's incredibly sneaky. I found out the hard way when I finished the latest Alien and went to check on her in her bed. She wasn't there. I almost had a heart attack, turned the house upside down. I was about to call the police when she peeked at me from behind a curtain that I checked at least twice, and she was asking me if I was mad at her. So...uh. We discussed quite a lot from those movies afterwards, but there's no stopping her if she wants to do something."
Eddie laughed so hard he almost breathed in a tapioca pearl. "Oh wow. But good parenting! Not that I'm one to judge."
Watching El share waffles with her new friends, Steve pressed his lips together. "Yeah, I don't know about that. I'm just doing my best here, but I'm constantly terrified I'm doing something wrong. I adopted her, you know. From...a very bad situation. She couldn't properly talk or anything. So when she saw X-23 on screen, I think she related to her somehow. I've never seen her so excited about anything, so the costume was a must have. She's looking forward to going next year as well, when her hair finally grows long enough. Wig," he added at Eddie's confused silence.
"I mean, I get that," said Eddie as he set down his empty cup. "Cosplaying can be therapeutic. It's actually what my therapist suggested when I got...uh. Injured. And also how I got into cosplaying Deadpool."
"Injured?" Steve didn't sound judgmental, only curious, but Eddie had been in this situation before. Time to rip of the bandaid. He pulled off his mask and forced himself to meet Steve's eyes. "Uh. Yeah. Injured."
He knew he wasn't Deadpool kind of disfigured, but he was well used to the stares in his daily life. He kept the hair, which, hooray, good for him. But he had ugly bite scars on his neck and jawline, some going even to his cheeks. A chunk of his ear was missing too. "It was a dog when I was a kid," he said so that Steve wouldn't have to ask. "Plastic surgery is an option, they say, but it's expensive. And I don't really feel like having my face cut open again, so...yeah."
"Wow. I'm sorry."
Eddie took a deep breath. "Well, yeah. Not great. Listen, Steve. I'm super confident behind the mask, and thank you for humoring me. But this," he pointed to his face, "is usually a deal-breaker for people. So if it is for you, that's fine."
"It's not."
Eddie blinked. Then again. That wasn't how it had usually gone. "Huh?"
"I mean," said Steve, and shit, he laid his hand on Eddie's knee, when was this his life? What was happening? "I'm sorry it happened to you, but I don't get why it should matter."
"Uuuuh...because you're like, super hot? And you might want someone like that next to you?"
Steve snorted. "Bold of you to assume I don't have my own gnarly scars. I was just more lucky in their placement." When Eddie stared at him, he added: "I'm a paramedic. It happens. I rarely have time for anything, not to mention dating, but when I see a cool and funny guy give my daughter the ultimate Deadpool experience - by the way, waffles are her favorite food - and then he asks me out for a coffee? Hell. I'd be stupid to refuse."
Oh. Eddie suddenly felt a bit like crying. He forced himself to speak up, to have that final confirmation. "So, uh...this," he pointed at his face, "isn't a problem?"
"Nope. And, if you'd like a sort of quote from the first Deadpool movie with that..." Steve laughed, and Eddie knew what was coming even before he said it, "After some talking and getting to know each other...it's a face I'd be happy to sit on."
Eddie grasped at his chest. "Oh wow. You truly know the way to a man's heart."
He laughed and winked at Eddie. "This is the part when you ask for my number."
Eddie had never pulled out his phone faster in his life.
..
Much later, after Eddie showed El around the convention, after many pictures and wonderful memories, Eddie ran into Chrissy again. He was about to introduce her to Steve and El properly, but Chrissy smiled at him - once again that all knowing smile, why?! - and waved at her girlfriend.
"So, Eddie. I see you've met Robin's best friend, Steve."
Robin snickered and pressed a quick kiss against Chrissy's temple. "See? I told you they'd be a great match."
And, before Steve or Eddie could say anything, Chrissy picked up her camera and captured their disbelieving faces. They would keep the picture forever - Steve's mouth hanging comically open, Eddie just staring blankly into the camera, and El happily chewing on the last bite of her waffle.

"From the moment you left I knew that something wasn't right
But the feeling inside has kept me up all night
You and me
Like one heart beat."
“Yeah? Everything ok?”, your dad answers breathily into his phone beside his bed as he hastily picks it up after two rings.
“No, sir. You need to look at the file we just sent you.”
Rubbing his eyes, he glances at the clock that reads two am before heading towards his computer to do what was commanded. Tiredness leaves him as his eyes widen at each violent image he passes by.
“They’re escalating. A month ago, they destroyed your home, two weeks prior they began kidnapping security and doctors they knew worked at the lab and tortured them before draining all of their blood. Last night, as you can see, they found the driver who took you to your house. Thankfully, he was loyal.”
Your dad sighed as he stared at the man’s mutilated body and the note written in his blood on the wall behind him.
“Give her back or else we will burn your company to the ground.”
“What should we do? Are we still safe?”
“From what we can tell, yes.”
“From what you can tell? Do better.”, he chided as he promptly hung up the phone without waiting for a response.
***
“Hey, baby. I brought you some lunch here.”
“Thank you, mom. I’ll eat in a minute.”, you murmur from your spot on the floor.
Smiling down at you, she takes a seat cross legged beside you and sneaks a peak at your sketchbook. You were drawing the vase on the end table by your bed except you had added something that wasn’t within the glass.
“Hm. Why a pink rose? Are those your favorite?”, she asks lightly as she points to the image.
“Oh…I didn’t even realize I drew that…”
Taking in the drop of your tone, you mother tenderly pushes some of your hair behind your ear so she could see your face.
“Did they…?”
“Yeah, sometimes. Eddie would smush them into my sketchbook or Steve would leave them by my bed.”
“That’s really sweet. Your father used to do things like that before he would go to work.” At the mention of his job, your head hung as you turned away from her. “I’m sure they cared about you, Y/N, in their own way.”
“I…I keep wondering…do they even miss me? Are they thinking about me at all? I’m…I’m sitting here fucking worried if they’re ok and I bet they’re probably just…moving on to the next girl.”, you cry as she pulls you to her chest.
“It’s ok, sweetheart.”, she comforts before a throat clearing pulls you two apart.
“Is everything alright?”, your dad asks.
“Yeah, we’re ok. It’s just…girl talk.”, your mom answers for you as you dry your eyes.
“Girl talk. Ok. Um, well, we need to go into the lab for a bit—”
“What? Why? All of us?”
“Yes, dear. All of us.”, he replies through gritted teeth. “Go ahead, Y/N, and pack a bag. We’ll be leaving in 30.”
“I’m sure your father is being cautious.”, she grins, turning back around to face you before grabbing your suitcase. “They are violent superbeings—”
“They weren’t before. They used to be—are—good men.”, you interrupt as she starts folding some of your clothes.
“Mhmm.” As you begin to help her, she pauses for a moment and grabs your arm. “Y/N, honey, they didn’t…like brainwash you or, I don’t know, hypnotize you or something, right?”
You laugh at the notion and she grumbles in her throat as she stomps away before returning with some photos that she pushes towards you. Your eyes widen as you flip through images of each destroyed room of your house, taking in all the lopsided furniture and papers all over the floor.
“You laugh at me but look at this. These are the kind of men looking for you. The creatures you just called ‘good men’. This is just our house, Y/N. You don’t want to know what they’ve done to other people. Seeing this and hearing the way you talk about them I HAVE to wonder if they have some superpower we don’t know about. Or are you just that stupid?”
Before you can answer, she shakes her head, leaving you alone as you exhale and sit on the mattress. You continue to browse through the images till you get to your room, pausing when you notice nothing within is damaged.
All your furniture was still upright and in its place. Knowing your things and how you had them, you took note that some of your art utensils were missing including your paint, easel, and a box you normally kept on your dresser full of your pencils you didn’t bring with you. There was a picture taken of your closet and a good chunk of your clothes were missing.
Beside your bed on the end table was a single pink rose and underneath a piece of paper you knew you hadn’t left there.
After gathering your things and climbing into the SUV, you met your father’s eyes in rearview mirror.
“Have they been doing more than trashing our house? Have they left me anything?”
Your dad glares at your mother who continues to scowl out the passenger window.
“Why did you show her any of that? No, Y/N, they haven’t. The house and everything they’ve done is just a method to get us out of hiding.”
“Have you seen them? Are they ok? Are they hungry and—”
“No, Y/N! Now let it go! Jesus Christ.”
###################
After being led to a room within the personal section of the lab, you were promptly left alone as both your parents disappeared.
You refused to sit and wait, feeling completely uncomfortable in a place you knew hurt and tortured them. As you stepped outside of the door, two nurses walked by giving you pause as fear coursed through before they nodded a polite hello your way and you did the same.
Tiptoeing around every corner, you finally found what you were looking for and opened the door to your mother’s office, locking the door behind you.
Sitting at her desk, you stared at her computer and were slightly surprised you were able to get in without a password until you stumbled on her files that required a passcode entry to get into them.
Finding the one entitled “Project Sunlight”, you input your birthday and rolled your eyes when that actually worked.
“Come on, mom.”
You imagined a part of Eddie and Steve were afraid to come back here after everything they had been through which is why they scrounged for what they could. When you opened her virtual files, a plethora of information tumbled out.
You found so many images of their wounds especially Eddie’s which were taken while he was in his coma. There were notes like the ones they found in your dad’s office but this time there were videos to accompany them.
“Alright Steven, and what happened after the vine pulled you through the gate into the other world?”
“Um, one of the bats wrapped its tail around my throat and held me down while the others bit into my stomach. My friends saved me by jumping in after me.”
“Must be nice to have friends who love you so deeply to do that.”
“Yeah…yeah.”
They didn’t waste any time with Eddie who was still in his hospital bed when they interviewed him. He had gauze on his cheek, around his neck, along his stomach and around his wrists. His head hung as he was asked questions and you could tell immediately he wasn’t fully coherent.
“And Edward, you said you tried to lead them away before turning to fight?”
“Where’s my uncle?”, he murmured without looking towards his interviewer. “I’d like to see my uncle now.”
“I know, sweetie, I know but we need to get you better first and I need you to answer my questions. What happened when you tried to fight the bats?”
“I…I don’t remember…I—”
“Mr. Henderson said you’re a hero.”
“Henderson…Henderson…Dustin? Dustin Henderson? Is he ok?!”
You found so many notes and videos of “interviews” with names you recognized including Jim Hopper and Nancy Wheeler. Robin Buckley’s videos were the shortest with her being physically removed for “disruption.”
“Look, I don’t give a fuck what you people are ‘trying’ to do. If they aren’t under arrest and they aren’t sick anymore we should at least me able to see them!”, she shouts as she gets to her feet. “STEVE! STEVE! Can you hear me?!”
“Miss Buckley, that’s not necessary. They are here of their own accord and—”
“BULLSHIT!”
Wayne’s, to you, were the most heartbreaking. While he still remained in control visually, you could tell he was falling apart.
“How much longer are you going to keep my boy here?”
“Until we figure out what’s wrong with him, Mr. Munson.”
Nothing is wrong with him. He was framed for murder and hurt by someone—”
“That is one of the working theories.”, your mom cut him off. “Another is that he murdered a bunch of kids and went on the run. Let’s not forget we were given permission to treat and detain him here.”
“I want my son, Dr. Y/L/N. I just spent a week not knowing if he was fucking alive. Please…let me at least see him.”
“I’m sorry, Wayne. I just can’t do that.”
Your fingers hovered over the files within marked by their experiment numbers. You knew it would kill you to see them in pain but you knew you needed to see everything.
“Experiment 320, utilizing a knife to see if it hurts him and if so how fast he heals.”, your father address the camera before turning to face Steve who was restrained to a chair in the middle of a room.
“Please…don’t do this.”, he begged, screaming loudly when a guard stabs the knife through his chest. “FUCK!”
“What’s your pain scale at Mr. Harrington?”
Instead of responding, he tilted his head back as he struggled to catch his breath before spitting your father’s way. Your dad’s head nodded towards the other man and he stepped forward zapping Steve with something long that sent electricity through him as he gritted his teeth in pain.
“I’ll ask again. What’s your pain scale at?”
The tears began to fall as you hastily backed out of that and entered a new video of Eddie on the floor panting heavily as he clutched his stomach.
“Everything’s alright, Mr. Munson.”
“What about this is fucking alright?!”, he growled causing your mother to jump back. “That asshole keeps giving me things he KNOWS is going hurt me! It’s obvious at this point! All I can drink it blood!”
“I know, baby, but he just needs to know for sure and understand—”
“Understand that he’s going to fucking kill us!?” As he begins to gag, the metalhead crawls up to the toilet and throws up so aggressively you can practically feel his pain. When he’s done, his head falls back against the wall and you just vaguely make out the blood sticking to his chin that he wipes away. “Please…please ma’am…just…make it stop. Make it stop.”
As he starts to cry, he falls into your mother’s lap as she gently pets his head.
The sound of the handle jiggling has you hastily backing out of all the programs and hiding under her desk just as you hear the office door open. Your mom’s heels click against the floor and you cover your mouth to stop any squeak from leaving your lips when something hard slams on the table. Her heavy sigh fills the room before she turns around to leave quietly shutting the door behind her.
After a moment, you climb out from your hiding spot to find a folder with some papers on her desk. Briefly skimming through the top documents, you found images and notes of people they had killed in horrific ways as well as pictures of the empty Munson Trailer and Steve’s former house you had been staying at.
Near the middle, you found a Ziplock bag with the pink rose within stappled to a piece of paper with two different sets of handwriting.
“Baby,
We should have told you a while ago, how much you mean to us.
When you touch us so softly and we hold you in our arms… Y/N, we’re home.
The way you taste, not just your blood, but your lips when you kiss us…fuck, honey. Without your laugh, our room sounds hollow like when we were trapped in the lab. Your smile and the sound of your voice…
I’m sorry…I’m struggling to…I just miss you so much…if any of those fuckers…hurt…you…”
“Sweetheart,
I like the person I’ve become. I like being stronger, faster, and more intimidating. People used to spit and throw things at me like I meant nothing. Even before I changed people hunted me down like I was a monster.
And we are monsters, Y/N.
After waking up and not being able to find you, I learned that I don’t…want to be a monster to you… We took advantage of you and kindness.
We used you like a drug.
Pushed you away.
Where ever you are, baby, let us know. Find a way and we’ll come save you.
No matter where you are.
Please don’t think we’re fine without you.
We’re going crazy and we will kill anyone it takes to get you back with us.
I love you.
I love you.
Eddie & Steve”
You hugged paper to your chest as you cried.
They WERE looking for you.
The DID miss you.
They love you…
Or were they lying to get you out of hiding?
Absently, you exited your mother’s office, not caring who saw you as you walked down the hallway and up the side stairs towards the roof. The safehouse, car, and lab had something within that kept them from hearing where you were. That’s why your dad insisted you don’t speak when crossing the areas and never let you outside. You weren’t even allowed to open a window but as if guiding you, the door to the top of the building opened seamlessly with no key required.
Glancing out into the night sky, the tears continued to fall as your lips trembled.
“I love you to.”, you whispered.
Off in the distance you heard a loud growl followed by what sounded like wings before a palm covered your mouth and dragged you back inside.
#############
“Have you lost your fucking mind?!”, your dad hissed as he yanked you back down the stairs pausing only briefly when the lights above you both flashed. “What have you done, Y/N?”
As soon as the door to the hallway was opened, the building practically shook as glass broke and people began to scream.
You were brought into a room with security monitors and shoved into a musclebound security guard.
“Don’t let her out of your grasp. What’s happening?”
“I don’t know. Everything’s happening so fast I can’t keep up.”, a lab tech answered with panic as his eyes fleeted between each screen.
“They’re searching for her. Where’s my wife?”
The man shook his head as your own eyes searched for them. They were moving from area to area leaving bodies in their path. One of them blurred past an area you recognized and with all your energy, you elbowed the man holding you and were briefly released, giving you enough time to run out the door.
You didn’t get far before you were tackled and you screamed as you tried to fight the man off you. You were slapped hard causing you to whine but just as he was about to lift you off the floor, the security guard was pushed away from you with exception force and his neck was snapped.
Even with his back to you, you could see how bloody he was as his shoulders rose and feel.
“Steve.”
Without hesitation, he turned and collected you quickly but before he could run in the opposite direction, gun fire went off making him grunt in pain before pushing you against the wall to protect you with his body.
While being shieled by him, you noticed his eyes were black with his fangs barred, ready for the attack. There was abrupt silence that was replaced with screams as Steve collapsed to his knees as your tried to catch him.
“Coward.”, Eddie growled in a deep voice you had never heard before. “You send all your goons out here but can’t face us yourself?!”
“Steve…please…what—what do you need?”, you beg as you lift his head in your palms. You try to offer him your wrist but he shakes his head and glances towards a lab assistant that was trying to crawl away.
You help him to his feet but he pushes you back, silently telling you to stay as he staggers towards the man before lifting him by his collar with ease and biting into his neck.
“Edward Munson. Good to see you boys again. You’ve changed.”, your dad spoke with slight sarcasm.
“You haven’t.”
“She came to US wanting protection from you both! We never took her or forced her to stay.”
“That’s what you said about us. Said we could leave any time we wanted—”
“You could have. You both wanted to stay, remember, to find a cure and protect your friends.”
“You lied to us.”
“To help you.”
Eddie growled as he began to step forward but your hand on his arm gave him pause as he pushed you back against the wall beside him.
“It’s me, baby, it’s me.” His black eyes search your face before his grip loosens and he lets you go. “Come on. Let’s go home.”
“Where? You have nowhere to go. We know about the trailer and his parent’s house.”, your dad yells as he gestures towards Steve who rounds the corner completely healed. “You wouldn’t want to put any of those children at risk especially Mr. Henderson. Wayne Munson would never condone you murdering people—”
The metalhead again jerked towards him but your grip remained firm.
“Did anyone hurt you?”, he mumbled gruffly your way. You point at the guard who is now dead and he nods. “Did they hurt you?”
Your gaze shifts towards your father and mother who is now standing behind her husband. You shake your head and he nods once more but as you both start to turn your mom begins to yell.
“Don’t do this, Y/N! They don’t care about you. All they care about is using you for your body and blood. When they’re done, they’ll dispose of you like trash! What future can you expect to have with them?!”
“Well for one thing, they’ve never lied to me! I saw the videos and read the notes! I saw what you both did to them. I trust them more then I trust you both!”
“Y/N, if you leave now, you can’t come back. We’ll hunt you down the same way we will them.”
“If you so much as harm a hair on her head, we will tear this city apart.”, Steve bellowed at your dad as he took his place beside his friend. “There will be nowhere you could go.”
“What makes you think we’d harm her? There’s a lot of valuable stuff we could learn from her when it comes to you both.”
At the threat, both men started to confront him before someone came out of the lab with a large UV light that had them hissing in pain. Eddie quickly wrapped his arms around you as they flew out a nearby window and into the night sky.
################
The sounds of night echoed through the forest around you as they landed on their feet and placed you on yours, leaving you behind as they stalked through the front door of the cabin they brought you to.
It was modest little home that looked exactly like something you’d see in a movie with a back door that led out to a lake. In the living room, you found your easel and painting tools set up as if waiting for you to sit down and begin with a couple of extra sketchbooks thrown on the dining room table nearby. As your fingers flipped through the pages you realized they were all new including a few of the pencils they placed beside it.
Heading towards the bedroom, you opened the closet to find your missing clothes hung up neatly next to their own.
Something loud hit the wall and you ran back towards the open area to find them pacing as they heavily panted like an animal after running down its prey. Their eyes were still that black color but unlike previously, they weren’t starving.
Or maybe they were.
Maybe they were hungry for something else.
Without thinking twice, you took long strides forward till your hands cupped Eddie’s cheeks and you brought his lips to yours. It startled him at first as he grunted in surprise but it promptly turned into a needy growl as his palms pulled your hips closer to his.
Steve came up behind you and began to undress you, tossing your clothes to the side effortlessly but when you pulled your lips away from the metalhead to kiss him, Eddie growled once more as he roughly pulled you away from his friend as you fell onto the couch.
The possessiveness over you radiated from them both and it drove you insane as your fingers glided through your folds to rub your clit while they glared at each other.
Your foot ran up the former jocks leg and he smirked, lightly pushing his friend’s chest who in turn smacked his hands away before they both fell to either side of you.
Their mouths and hands were on you instantly as if making up for lost time. Steve’s fingers replaced yours making you mewl as your palms rubbed both their cocks through their blood stained jeans. Their fangs grazed your skin and your pussy clenched every time either one of them brushed past you neck or along your breasts.
“Oh my…yes…”, you moaned as thick fingers breached your entrance. What surprised you, however, was when Eddie’s joined his stretching you out to a new degree you weren’t used to. Heavily panting your eyes rolled as your back arched and they chased you with their lips, not willing to allow you to move away for one second. “Ed—Eddie…please…”
Reluctantly pulling away, you listened as he took off his shirt and unbuckled as pants while Steve gratefully took over, holding your cheek with his palm as he passionately kissed your lips.
Your body was lifted as you were manhandled onto all fours and the other man utilized the opportunity to push down his pants, barely getting the buckle undone as he shoved them to his knees allowing his hard dick to spring free.
Taking it in your hand, you spit over his tip but he was impatient as his fingers tangled in your hair and pushed you roughly on to him. You gagged at the intrusion but welcomed the taste as you closed your eyes and allowed him to use you as his moans filled the room.
“Goddamn it…”, Steve mewls as your own moan vibrates around him and his gaze shifts to see his friend’s head dip as his hands grip your ass and his tongue overwhelms you as he makes out with your pussy.
Drool spills from your lips as his cock fucks up into you, hitting the back of your throat constantly before yanking you up to allow you to catch your breath.
“Want…want both…want…both.”, you pant as your glassy eyes lock with Steve’s as your orgasm washes over you.
Eddie’s body covers yours as he brings his chest to your back and wraps his arm around your front to hold you still while his fingers effortlessly push into your core, setting an overwhelming pace.
“You think you can handle that, little girl. Don’t just nod your head. Keep looking at Steve and say it.”, he whispered firmly and you did what he commanded as the boy’s eyes remained on you while he continued to pump his length with your spit.
“I can…I can handle it…Oh my…please…I can…”
“You can handle his big, thick cock stretching you out? I took your virginity so it seems only fair. You don’t mind if it hurts, do you, baby?”
“I can handle it… I can…fuck, Eddie, M’gonna cum again.”
Your body pushed back against him but he held you in place as his pace remained the same and a mix of a cry and giggle left you as your climax washed over you.
The metalhead lifts you on to the floor with you on top of him, allowing his hands to roam your frame as your tongues danced together while you kissed.
“I love you.”
At his words, you freeze and pull back slightly just in time to see his black eyes recede and his chocolate ones push forth. He blinks for a few seconds before his thumb caressed your lips.
“We woke up and you were gone.”
“You hurt me.”, you whimper. “I don’t…care that you use me to eat or…that you call me a toy and a whore…I really don’t but…when you said you didn’t care about me…that was the first time I ever felt unsafe with you two…”
A deep grumble came from behind you but you knew Steve wasn’t upset with you but himself.
“Did you get our letter?”
“Yes…I found it before…”
Eddie nods as he brings your lips to his.
“Y/N, we’re not good men anymore. I’m sorry, baby, but they’re gone.” Eddie releases you long enough to take hold of his cock between you both as his hips thrust himself into you. “Fuck, sweetheart…but we can be good for you.”
Twisting to shift your gaze behind you, out of the corner of your eye, you see Steve climb up behind you and spit in his hand before massaging it between your cheeks.
“We’ll still kill any fucking asshole that touches you. You’re ours, honey. No one gets to have you or see you this way except us.” The metalhead’s length twitched inside you as he watched your face scrunch while the other boy began guiding his dick into your ass. “Fuck, Ed…I told you…better when they’re unspoiled.”
“She feel good?”
“Mmnah!”, you whine as your forehead falls on Eddie’s tattooed chest.
“No, no. You can take it, baby. Head up and eyes on Munson. Fuck, I wish you could see how sexy you look with us both inside you right now.” His large palm spanked your behind as he tilted back to see his cock slowly disappearing inside you. “God…you are so fucking tight.”
“Do…Do…”
“Uh oh, Harrington. You took the words right out of her. Little slut can’t even form a thought.”
“What are you trying to—mmph—say?” When you head hangs, Steve’s fingers tangle in your hair and roughly pull. “Answer me, little girl.”
“Do…DO YOU LOVE ME TO?! Fuck…I feel so full…”
They both pause for only a moment before the hand in your hair snakes around to your throat and his breath warms the shell of your ear.
“Yes, pretty girl, I love you. We missed you so much, Y/N.”
They both thrust into at the same time and you swear you see stars. Steve pulls you back against his chest allowing Eddie to push up on to his elbows as his mouth sucks at your breast. The man behind you bites into your neck first and as your pussy flutters at the feeling the metalhead growls with pleasure as he bites into the other side.
This was completely brand new and your body didn’t know how to handle all the sensations. Both of them draining you while they were both pumping their cocks deep inside of you had you melting into them seamlessly and you knew from that moment you were theirs.
You would do anything they wanted; all they had to do was ask.
“Some…something…Eddie…Steve…something’s…oh my god.”
Your words, or lack thereof, egged them on as they thrust harder into you at a faster rhythm and your arms circled around Eddie’s neck, clinging to him desperately as an intense wave of ecstasy washed over you, through your core and around the long-haired boy’s cock.
“Fuck!”
The word came out sharp, gruff as Eddie fell flat on his back and his fingers dug into your hips as his release spilled abruptly inside of you. Steve soon followed after, grunting roughly as he slammed his own release into your behind.
You collapsed, closing your eyes as the word around you went black.
***
“Please tell me you can smell that.”, Eddie whispered somewhere above you as your eyes struggled to fully open. “Jesus Steve, it’s not…it’s not her arousal but…it is? I don’t know. It smells really fucking good.”
Like a wild animal, the man joined his friend as you felt their noses sniff along your chest to your neck.
“Kind of but remember they said you’re stronger than me.”
“Fuck, man, I smelled it before she came as hard as she did…I couldn’t stop myself from filling her up…”
“Eddie? Steve?”, you murmur in a soft high-pitched voice.
“It’s ok, honey, we’re right here.”
“What happened?”
“You passed out there for a bit. Here, drink this.” As the former jock slowly tilts you to a sitting position, the metalhead hold the back of your neck as he brings a bottle of water to your lips.
Your eyes close as you chug it back making them smile before Eddie gets up to get you more. While you wait, you take in everything around you with heavy eyelids, still feeling drunk off the high that was them.
“Here you go.”, the long-haired boy whispers as he kneels beside you but when all you do is stare at it like a foreign object, he tilts your head again to help you drink. “Are you ok? I don’t…I could smell when you were dehydrated but I’m not sure if I can capture anything else.”
“Huh?”, you ask confused before fully processing his words. “Oh, um, yeah. I’m ok. My body hurts…”
Kicking into gear, they lift you to the bathroom and you nuzzle into Eddie’s neck while Steve gets a bath ready for you. You hiss at the slight sting in your behind and between your legs but it quickly subsides as the water warms you.
They carefully clean you, pausing when you flinch as the pretty boy’s palm grazes your cheek. He growls almost aggressively as his irises change to black once more as he takes in the growing bruise on your face.
“You killed the asshole that did that, right?”
Steve blinks as he affirms Eddie’s question and his eyes change back to their original honey color. Leaning towards you, his tongue licks along your cheekbone, sighing when it remains.
“Maybe because it’s not an open wound.”, the metalhead suggests. “Ours heal because they are a part of us but…”
“I got some information from the lab. It’s in my bag.”, you mumble. “I have a floppy of some of the experiments and some notes from my mom. I don’t know how much new information it will have but I hope it helps.”
“You didn’t have to do that—”
“I needed to see…see what they did…I’m so sorry and I swear I didn’t tell them anything.”
“Shhhh, baby, calm down. We didn’t think you would.”
“We were more afraid that they were hurting you.”, Eddie cut in, thankful when you shook your head. “We, um, I’m sure you’ve noticed but we brought some of your things from your house. Obviously, we can’t go back to school but you’re such a brilliant artiest—what?”, he asks when he notices you lightly laughing.
“Nothing, I’ve just…never seen you stutter and be all…shy before.”
The metalhead sassily smirks as he rises to his feet and effortlessly lifts you out of the water to bring you into the bedroom so they can dress you.
“I’m still a stubborn, mean asshole.”, he teases as his lips gently caresses your calf up to your knee. “Who would kill for you. No one touches you…no one hurts you…”
“And no one takes what’s ours.”, Steve adds after sitting beside you and tenderly kisses up your bicep to your shoulder. “When we couldn’t find you, baby, it scared us half to death. We got…so…angry…”, he growls deeply as his irises change again before your palm on his cheek has him closing his eyes.
“We almost tore Hawkins apart looking for you.”, Eddie grumbled with the huskiness behind his voice that matched his tone in the lab. You imagined his eyes were already black as you reached down to move his curls away from his face as he rested his head on your lap. “You tried to give me water.”
Every time he told you that, you always knew what it meant.
“You were kind when no one else in this town was. You weren’t trying to kill me or hurt me, you were trying to help me. You’re not like them.”
“When you guys…when your eyes turn black like that and your fangs…are you in control?”
“With you.”
You blink as you slide to the floor and the other boy follows as you cup the metalhead’s face in your palms.
“What do you mean? Like right now, what do you see?”
“That first time when those kids were beating me up and I was so weak, I couldn’t see anything. All I could do was hear your heartbeat and feel your pulse in your neck even though you were standing above me.”
Steve nodded as if to agree with his friend.
“This past month we’ve been trying to sift through and hear you again but we heard nothing. No heartbeat, no pulse, no soft voice…no smell…nothing.”, Eddie whisper breathily as he tilts forward and inhales by your neck through his nose.
“Then tonight we heard a whimper and you say you love us.”, the jock sighed against your shoulder warming your skin. “We knew you were in the lab; we just didn’t know where and then…I saw him…that guard…hit you…” His gruff growl had Eddie responding with a rumble of his own. “I just felt this intense angry need to protect you.”
“DO you love us?”
They pull back as their eyes return to their normal color and they wait for your answer.
“Yes, of course.”
For the first time in a long time, you saw their faces and bodies relax as they smiled wide with Eddie showing all his teeth as Steve grabbed his chest theatrically before falling to the side making you laugh.
It was one of those rare instances when their humanity fell through the hardened exteriors and you couldn’t help the warmth that flowed through you as you tackled your arms around the metalhead who in turn collapsed beside his friend with you between them.

The Au Pair Boy Part 4
And this story is back!!! Sorry about last week, but I really wanted to finish the rockstar AU.
In this we get, Chrissy and the girls being cute and everyone gets to know each other a little bit more.
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3
~
Chrissy stayed the first day to help with the meltdowns but was a little surprised when Steve let them just lie on the floor.
Steve caught her raised eyebrow and huffed a laugh. “Sometimes the best way to deal with a temper tantrum is to ignore it. Plus, their dad just left for what is not short amount of time. He’s not coming back tomorrow or even next week. He’s going to gone for months. I think they deserve a little floor time, don’t you?”
She cocked her head to the side. “Huh. I never thought it of it like that.” She walked over to the girls and laid down next to them.
When Steve came back from making breakfast, he found both girls wrapped around Chrissy and all three of them sound asleep. He went back into the kitchen and carefully wrapped up their sandwiches. Lunch could wait.
It was some time later before any of them stirred. Joan was the first. She sat up and looked around. The sun had changed position so the room was darker. She spotted her sister and Chrissy, still asleep.
She wandered the house before she spotted Steve in his room reading.
“Well hello there,” he said gently. “Are you the only one awake?”
She nodded and crawled up on his lap. “I want Daddy, but I can’t find him.”
Steve set down his book and wrapped his arms around her waist. “Remember, Joanie, Daddy’s at work now, but he said he would call as soon as he plane landed. Has he called yet?”
Joanie looked up at him thoughtfully. “Would he call you or Aunt Chrissy?”
Steve scooped her up and started carrying her down the stairs. “He said he would call Chrissy tonight, then me every night I’m working. Which is why I’m taking back to her so you don’t miss his call.”
“Daddy is going to come back right?” she asked, his voice small. “Not like Papa?”
“Your daddy would never leave you like your papa did, Joanie,” Steve murmured. “He loves you too much.”
“Then why did he leave?”
Well he wasn’t sure how to answer that in a way she would understand. “Your daddy got a once in a life time opportunity to get back together with his band. He had work with four people’s schedules. But he loved you so much that he made sure that he had someone he could trust with you and Janie, okay?”
Joan nodded and wrapped her arms around Steve’s neck as he worked his way back to the front room.
Chrissy was just waking up, but Janice was still asleep. She looked at her watch and cursed.
“Aunt Chrissy said a bad word,” Joan huffed as Steve set her down.
Chrissy head whipped around to see Steve and Joan standing in the entrance way. “Oh, hi, Joanie, I didn’t see you standing there. You shouldn’t have wandered off without telling me.”
“I went looking for Daddy and found Steve,” she said pointing to Steve.
Chrissy looked up at Steve and then back at Joan. “Good job, Joanie.” She gently untangled herself from Janice’s iron tight grip and stood up. She straightened her clothes and glared at him.
“Why did you let me sleep so long?” she huffed, crossing her arms.
Steve pulled out his phone without a word and fiddled with a moment, before turning the screen around so she could see.
“Oh.”
There on the screen was a picture of her with the girls, all cuddled together in a pile on the floor.
“Um,” she said shyly, “if I gave you my number could you send that to me? I want it as the wallpaper on my phone.”
Steve nodded. She rattled off her phone number and he sent her the picture with a grin. Behind her Janice was waking up, groggy and disorientated.
“Daddy?” Janice asked sleepily. She looked around and saw only Steve, Chrissy, and Joan and immediately burst into tears.
Chrissy wrapped her arms around the little girl and held her tight. Joan waddled up to Chrissy and tugged her shirt sleeve. Chrissy brought her willingly into the hug. “It’s all right, pumpkins I think it’s past time for lunch. And I think everyone is feeling a little hangry at the moment.”
“I’ve got sandwiches in the fridge,” Steve offered jutting his thumb behind him.
Suddenly the girls pulled away from Chrissy and made a mad dash for the kitchen, Steve fast on their heels to make sure they didn’t try to get the plate out of the fridge themselves. Chrissy followed close behind, shaking her head fondly.
~
Lunch was a hit especially when the girls saw that their sandwiches were cut into little hearts.
“Did you throw away the scraps?” Chrissy asked as she munched happily on her non-hearted turkey sandwich.
Steve shook his head. “I cut the bread before adding anything to it, condiments, meat, cheese and then I use the bread scraps to make bread crumbs. Then I trim the cheese and have a little snacking cheese while I finish the other sandwiches.”
“Clever.”
Steve ducked his head and blushed. “Hey, girls what does your Daddy say about business at the lunch table?”
Joan and Janice shared a look and shrugged.
“Daddy usually doesn’t have lunch with us because he’s working,” Joan huffed. “Usually our nanny would fix us lunch.”
Steve looked over at Chrissy in surprise. “I was under the assumption that I was the emergency au pair, as in he didn’t have one before he left. Was that not the case?”
Chrissy shook her head. “I’m sure Eddie told you that they tend to chase off their nannies?”
“We do not!” Joan huffed crossing her arms in front of her chest and pouting.
“Yeah!” Janice said. “Miss Molly spent all the time on the phone with her boyfriend.”
“We were left unsup–unpup–unstupified!” Joan said, stammering around the big word.
“Unsupervised,” Chrissy said slowly then turned to Steve. “Molly was only the most recent run of bad nannies. One was spanking them for punishment, another was smoking weed in the house. And each time, the girls would misbehave so badly that the nannies would go running and blame the girls, only for the truth to come out.”
“Miss Emily liked to scare us,” Janice said with a whimper. “Jump out of closets and stuff. Said it would make us tougher.”
“Eddie found that one out because he came home early one day when a meeting with another producer fell through,” Chrissy said shaking her head. “She lasted two weeks.”
“Jimney Cricket,” Steve cursed. He turned to the girls. “I promise to not spank you or scare you or be on the phone with my boyfriend or girlfriend, mainly because I don’t have one.”
Joan cocked her head to the side. “You like both? Can you do that?”
“Yup!” Chrissy said brightly. “I’ve had a couple of boyfriends in the past. I just decided that girls were easier and more fun.”
Steve nearly snorted his water. He was so glad the girls were way too young to catch Chrissy’s meaning. Because, hooboy, their dad had only been away for a couple of hours and already Chrissy had gone feral.
“So you’ve had boyfriends and girlfriends?” Janice asked Steve, her head tilted the opposite direction of her sister so their heads were almost touching.
“I have!” he told her brightly. “Just not in a while. I’ve been taking care of sweethearts like you and have been too busy to date.”
Chrissy eyed him like he was a piece of meat she was thinking of serving up. Most likely to Eddie. His boss.
“But you aren’t a nanny, right?” Janice asked. “You’re an off pear? Is that rotted fruit?”
Chrissy and Steve shared a glance before they both burst out laughing.
“Au. Pair,” Steve said slowly. “Traditionally a young woman from a foreign country hired to cook, clean, and watch small children in exchange for housing and a small income. But I’m a little bit different.” He held up his finger and thumb really close together.
“Is because your a boy?” Joan asked at the same time Janice asked, “Is it because you aren’t foreign?”
Steve laughed again. “You’re both right. Though my mom is Italian, but I was born here in Indiana.”
“Just like us!” Joan said, throwing her arms in the air and almost knocking her plate and half of her sandwich off onto the floor.
“It’s all right, Joanie,” Steve soothed when she got really upset about almost knocking her plate on the floor. “You learned a valuable lesson in making sure your plate is pushed far enough on the table that it won’t get easily spilled.”
She sniffled but nodded.
They went back to eating and as Steve was cleaning up Chrissy asked him what he wanted to discuss at the table that got sidetracked by the girls.
“Just wondering when we should start looking for other help,” he said over his shoulder as he washed the dishes. “I don’t think we need to start right away for the cleaner and cook since there won’t be a lot of need for it, but a pool cleaner, ground maintenance, and gardener/ groundskeeper should be our top priorities.”
Chrissy stared at him for a moment. “Holy shit, you’re efficient. Yeah, we can start on all that shit tomorrow. I have the next couple of weeks off to help you settle the girls in. Eddie’s been gone for a weekend or two before and they’ve spent the night with me, so I’m always on call if you need anything.”
Steve smiled at her, wiping his wet hands on a rag he had draped over his shoulder while he washed.
“That’s great,” he said. “I won’t be able to keep calling on you because they’re going to need to get used it just being me.”
“Of course,” she replied. “Eddie really likes you and wants you to do well here so he’s authorized me to help you out anyway I can.”
“You don’t know what a relief it is to hear that,” Steve said, leaning against the counter. “Most parents either don’t care or are so afraid you’re trying to steal their children’s love that they undermine you at every turn.”
“Well you don’t have to worry about that with me or Eddie,” Chrissy said firmly. “Honestly it’s a relief. I’m not mom material. I never intended to be one. I like being Auntie Chris, but I’ve had to step up since Ethan walked out on them. It’s not fair to Eddie and it’s not fair to me either. So for both of us, having you come in and be that other parental figure in their lives is a huge fucking relief.”
Steve chuckled. “Duly noted.” He threw the balled up towel into a nearby basket. He liked having a place to put his used towels and wash cloths so he could remember to wash them as often as they needed to be.
“He shoots!” Chrissy cheered. “He scores!”
She waved her arms like she had pompoms in them and jumped in the air. Steve laughed.
“I may have played basketball in high school,” he said, a little sheepishly. Judging from the answers at the get to know everyone dinner, it seemed that the family didn’t do sports much and were very nerdy.
She leaned forward and put her hand to the side of her mouth and stage whispered, “And I might have been a cheerleader in high school and college.”
Steve’s interest was suddenly very piqued. “Really? That’s so cool!”
“Yup!” Chrissy said with a nod. “My mom wanted me to go pro, but I got a business degree for a reason and that was to manage the band. Eddie saved me from an emotionally abusive relationship when I went to him for weed and came out of the deal with a best friend.”
“Nice!” Steve said holding his hand out for a fist bump, which she gladly gave. “Me and my best friend met working at this hideously themed ice cream shop. We became friends when the owner tried to burn it down for the insurance but the idiot didn’t stop to think that we would still be cleaning up.”
Chrissy grimaced. But before she could respond her phone started ringing. “Oh shit, that’s Eddie!”
She went dashing out of the room, calling for the girls. Steve followed slower behind as he wasn’t really needed for the bit of that conversation.
As soon as he walked into the room and in view of the camera Eddie called out, “There he is! He survived day one!”
“Day isn’t over with yet,” Steve pointed out with a huff of laughter. “I’m dreading night time. It’s a bath night.”
Eddie and Chrissy both winced.
“Yeah,” Eddie said, “I wasn’t thinking about that when we chose today to leave. Good luck and may Poseidon keep you safe from Scylla and Charybdis.”
“Daddy!” Joan and Janice huffed. “We’re not monsters!”
“I got that reference!” Steve said, snapping his fingers. “Do you girls like Percy Jackson?”
Chrissy burst out laughing. “That would be tamer, but no, this idiot has read them straight up Greek myths.”
“Hey!” Eddie protested from the phone. “I’ll have you know I carefully edited out the worst parts and was sure not to introduce to stories like Oedipus and Circe’s island, thank you very much.”
“I loved hearing about myths and legends when I was a kid,” Steve said with a shrug. “I’m sure the girls are no different.” He turned to Eddie, “if it’s okay with you, I’d like to start reading those books to them.”
Eddie shrugged on the video. “I guess, I mean if they could handle me reading myths to them, they could probably handle that. Just not at night. Night time is for learning. They have a lot of great Sandra Boynton books I would prefer you read to them instead.”
They started talking about other things and soon it was time for Eddie to go. He kissed the screen and said goodbye to the girls.
Steve got them all dressed for some outside play that Janice loved and Joan merely tolerated. As he watched them play in the massive yard, he figured that today could absolutely count as a good day.

Apols for the delay but Swimmer Steve is back and pretty much exactly where we last left him.
(part one | part six)
"Fuck," says Steve. "Fuck." He hasn't said much of anything else since he came out of the changing rooms, still damp and kind of stunned-looking.
"Fuck," Eddie agrees.
Steve looks at him, a smile starting to spread across his face, going on and on like it might be endless.
God, he's handsome.
God, Eddie is stupid in love with him.
"Olympics, baby!" Eddie crows. They've already hugged; Steve got a hug from everyone, as soon as he emerged. Eddie wants to hug him again, but that would probably be too much.
"Fuck," says Steve and sits down on the floor between their two beds.
Eddie shrugs to himself and sits down with him.
They've only come back to the hotel so Steve can get showered and changed before the celebration dinner that the kids have planned. Or, actually, Steve has come back to the hotel for that; thinking about it, Eddie's not sure why he came with, except that it just felt natural.
Either way, looks like they're going to take longer than expected.
"All good?" Eddie asks, just in case.
"Jesus Christ," says Steve, which is a change from fuck and laughs. He lifts his hands up to cover his face and when he lowers them again, his eyes are wet. "The Olympics, Eddie."
Eddie nods, can't do anything but smile stupidly back at him. He doesn't think he's ever seen Steve this open and relaxed and delighted. "The Olympics, Steve."
Steve rubs at his eyes with his fingertips, mostly just making his eyelashes damper and darker from his happy tears. "You know when you've wanted something your whole damn life, but you never really thought you'd get it? It feels fucking wild to get it."
Eddie thinks about his guitar, his band, how badly he wants to stand on a stage looking out at thousands of people who all want to hear what he has to sing. Then he reminds himself that this is Steve's moment.
"I bet," he says. "Congrats. You've worked damn hard and you absolutely deserve it."
Steve leans over and bumps their shoulders together. "You're coming with me, right?"
Eddie blinks. "Where?"
"... the Olympics," says Steve, like it should be obvious.
Eddie blinks some more. "Steve. Sweetheart. Steve. The Olympics are in Korea."
"Mm," Steve agrees, "but the war's over, it's totally safe there now."
Eddie loves and hates that Steve thinks that might be the only thing putting Eddie off.
Eddie stretches his legs out so they disappear under Steve's bed and hopes there's nothing really gross under there that'll stick to his jeans. "Look, the literal only reason I've been able to afford rocking up and down the country with you is government hush money and the fact you keep buying all my meals. There's no way I can stretch to plane tickets, and I'd need my own hotel room, right? 'cause you'll be living in the athletes village?"
He could have kept going, obviously he could have kept going, but he stops there because Steve is waving a hand at him.
"What? Don't say you'll pay. There's no way you have that much extra cash, either."
"Nah," Steve says, "but my dad does. And I will be fully, fully back on the credit card, after he finds out about this."
Eddie makes a face. "But we hate your dad?"
"We really do," Steve agrees, smile not even dimming. "But we love spending his money on shit he'll hate." He drops a hand to Eddie's knee, giving it a squeeze and a shake. "You'll come, right?"
"... You should take Robin," Eddie tries, one last attempt to be a good person. "Or the kids. God, the kids would shit."
Steve leaves his hand on Eddie's knee, like that's just a place where it goes now. "I'd take them all, if I could... Plus like, all their parents to keep an eye on them, but they'll all be back in school by the time the Olympics start. None of them can take like, three weeks out."
"I bet Erica could wrangle it," Eddie points out.
Steve makes a guilty face. "Love Erica, but I don't think we have the kind of relationship where we hop over to Asia, just the two of us. You know?"
Eddie wants to ask, And we do? But they do. He knows they do.
"I don't know," he says. It's a big fucking deal. He's never left the country before and he'd love to, but he really does hate Steve's dad and all he chooses to be. The idea of being beholden to him for that big a favour sits wrong in his gut, even if Mr Harrington never actually knows about it.
"Eddie," Steve says, like he's prepared to wheedle for what he wants. Then he stops, takes a breath, shakes his head. "I know it's a big ask and obviously you don't have to, if you really don't want to. I kind of just, I can't, I can't imagine doing this without you."
Eddie claps a hand to his chest. "Right in the flattery gland, Harrington."
Steve slides his hand up Eddie's leg and squeezes his thigh. Is this going to be a thing? Is Eddie going to have to get Robin to have a word with him about this soon?
"You're the whole reason I've got this far," Steve tells him, all close and sincere. "If you don't want to come, that'll suck, but it's okay. I just wanna make sure that you know I appreciate everything you've done."
Eddie knows every mole on Steve's face, but Steve's close enough now to reveal a few previously unknown freckles.
Eddie chuckles weakly. "Personal space?" he suggests.
"Overrated," Steve says and then.
And then.
And then he presses his lips carefully against Eddie's.
"What?" Eddie croaks. He can feel his breath dance off Steve's mouth.
"Thank you," Steve says and kisses him again, a little firmer, a little damper this time.
"I..." Eddie is a goddamn fucking hero because he makes himself lean back. "Don't. You can't. Don't kiss me to say thank you. That's not... Don't. Please."
He's expecting Steve to sit back, blush and apologise and explain he had to best of intentions. Instead, Steve lifts the hand not on Eddie's thigh and touches his cheek. "Can I kiss you 'cause I can't imagine not kissing you?"
The centre of Eddie's chest throbs. Even he doesn't know what that means. "You don't want to kiss me," he manages.
"Kinda really do," Steve says. "So? Can I?"

YANDERE STEVE ROGERS HEADCANONS
Tumblr media
He'd fall madly in love with you if you explain something to him from the modern times or just by being yourself. Yep... man here loves you for talking to him NOT just because he's Captain America but as Steve too if you get what I mean
He'd most probably stalk you and make sure you're 'safe'. He finds it completely normal though. The way he sees it is he's just patrolling the place you live at to check for 'any signs of disturbances' to stalk you and drink in your divine beauty. Might even get some of the other Avengers like Natasha and Bucky to help him since they're like best friends and stuff
Completely POSSESSIVE and obsessive as hell. Oh, and not to mention kinda delusional too
The world is a harsh place according to him and he needs to make sure you're safe at any cost. And yes, he will kidnap you if he thinks you're in danger. But not before he finds out more about you and your likes and dislikes and even your relationships with other people, which he doesn't like that much. He wants you to be the only person to depend on and it just infuriates him when you go and hang out with other people. Was he not good enough for you? To cope with his jealousy he's going to try spending more time with you like training together and you both going out more often together
Will most likely kidnap you if he thinks you're putting yourself in danger but don't worry, he'll make the room and the house to your liking. He'll get all the things that you love like fluffy pillows and stuffed animals and books etc. etc.
Good luck trying to make people believe that he kidnapped you. They'd most probably recommend you to a doctor or something because who would believe the chivalrous gentlemanly Captain America would actually KIDNAP someone?? And Steve will most CERTAINLY find out about you trying to tell someone about that and he'll be really disappointed in you. He might scold you like how a kind dad scold his child but if you test his patience levels too much he might just have to teach you a lesson
Don't bother trying to escape from him. Security around you is HELLA tight and plus even if you did manage to escape, one: How in the absolute HECK did you manage THAT?! And two: He'll track you down anyways and trust me, he has ALL the resources that he needs for getting you back in literally less than 24 hours
Normally Steve doesn't get angry THAT much but you better watch out when he DOES. He might lock you in a room if you've tried escaping from him or forcefully cuddle with you since he thinks you feel neglected. Or else he might yell at you at why you're being ungrateful and stuff like that. Yes, it pains him to say and do things like this but he WILL discipline you by any means necessary but he won't do anything to you without your consent of course. Even when he's angry, he's STILL respectful. Well... at least to YOU that is. When it comes to rivals... oh boy.... they're going to kiss the Earth goodbye in less than half a second if someone gets the bright idea to mess with him or you. The Avengers are an exception to this which means you absolutely can NOT go to them for help
He will get absolutely PISSED if he sees Tony talking to you and he'll drag you away from him gritting his teeth. Normally the 2 of them don't get along too well and when it comes to you, he's literally aching to punch him in the face when he sees you talking to him. You're going to have to assure Steve you love him and not let him go and cuddle with him after that. You don't wanna make boi here sad now, DO you?
He wants to have that All American lifestyle with you. You know with the painted white fence, maybe a golden retriever and a nice villa and 3-4 kids. Maybe even more. And when he gets to know you're pregnant, his obsession and over protectiveness of you will shoot up to the roof and out to space. You belong to HIM and NOTHING can separate the 2 of you and he'll make sure of that

Steve only agreed to go out with Tommy after their parents set them up because he “owed” his dad for ruining a potential business partnership for him at a dinner party.
To the rest of the guests, the man had just tripped and embarrassed himself but he knew and Steve knew and Steve’s dad knew: Steve had tripped him. But the guy had groped his ass when he crossed him on his way to the bathroom. He had it coming.
And even if his father had agreed with him after Steve told him the truth, he still needed help landing another client since his most profitable opportunity turned out to be a big ol’ creep. A date with another client’s son. Young, rich, good-looking, a single dad. It didn’t sound that bad.
And so Steve met Tommy.
At first, Tommy was… good. He was charming, cute, a praiser and a joker but the more Steve got to know the less he liked. After a while the compliments stopped and the commanding requests began. Get me this, pick this up, cook me, blow me, dress me, feed me, drive me, me, me, me.
But if Steve wanted or needed something? Tommy was sooo tired and busy. He hadn’t even made an effort to meet Steve’s friends yet. Plus he was always making Steve feel dumb and unimportant, saying his job was silly, even if Steve made almost as much money as him with fewer hours.
Telling him not to ‘worry his pretty head about it’ when Steve asked for clarifications or wouldn’t talk to him about work because Steve ‘wouldn’t get it’. He talked down on Steve all the time and offered him money to “buy himself something nice” in a degrading manner as if Steve was nothing more than arm candy for him.
The worst part was when he realized Tommy… wasn't funny. At all. All his jokes were based on making fun of other people. And he was the only one who laughed at them. He was no better than a bully. He… kind of sucked.
And Steve would’ve loved to never have to see him again. But the problem was he had fallen in love with Tommy’s daughter, Tarja. Because Tommy might have been a terrible boyfriend but at least he was a good enough father. So the weeks Tommy got Tarja, Steve spent most of his time with her.
She was just a delight. Cute, smart, and actually funny. She had the most deadpan sarcastic humor a 6-year-old could manage and it cracked him up. She was also super creative and loved drawing, reading, bedtime tales, and coming up with stories of her own.
Her emotional maturity was impressive, better than her father’s actually, and one of Steve’s favorite things about her. He’d never forget the day he went to pick her up from school and she’d been upset. When Steve asked her how he could help she had calmly explained what had happened, how it made her feel, and what she could do about it… over ice cream, obviously. It made him wonder what kind of person her other dad was like because she had clearly not learned how to communicate like that from Tommy.
And the thing is, Steve had always wanted a kid, ever since he was young all he wanted was a family and even if Tommy wasn’t great he just couldn’t make himself leave the connection he felt with Tarja. And he couldn’t just come out to Tommy and say: ‘Hey I wanna break up, but I’d love to keep seeing your kid,’ that would land him at best a punch, at worst in jail.
There was also the fact that, no matter how much he tried to deflect, Tommy’s comments were starting to get to him. Maybe Tommy was as good as he’d get, maybe he was dumb and uninteresting and the only thing he had going for him was his looks, maybe this was his only chance for a family. So he stuck it out. Cherished the times when they were all together.
And then he met Eddie.

"There is something wrong with the way that I am built. I... I can't, uh, I can't just enjoy happiness like regular people, you know? [...] every time something good happens in my life, I... I just I think of when it's gonna end. That's all I can think about." - Danny (S04 E19)
Tumblr media
Original HERE.
I saw it on Twitter and wanted to have it and suffer over here ;_; Transcript of the whole conversation in 4x19 + some thoughts:
Steve: She's pretty.
Danny: What?
Steve: Amber. Can tell she really cares about you, too.
Danny: Yeah, I'll probably screw it up like I do everything else. Right? Not in my DNA to be happy.
Steve: I didn't mean that. That's not what I meant. (Earlier, Steve had said: "Danny, if she (Amber) was the same age as you, you would come up with a different excuse, whatever you need, because you can't be happy. It's impossible for you; it's not in your DNA.")
Danny: No, I'm officially agreeing with you. There is something wrong with the way that I am built. I.. I can't, uh I can't just enjoy happiness like regular people, you know?
Steve: You don't think you're being a little hard on yourself?
Danny: No, I don't. When I was a kid, my parents would go out to eat dinner. And if they were late coming home, I used to imagine that they died in a car wreck, just 'cause they were 15 minutes late. And I used to talk to God and beg him. I said, "Please just take my dad, not my mom." 'Cause I couldn't live without my mom. I mean, every time something good happens in my life, I... I just I think of when it's gonna end. That's all I can think about.
Steve: (seriously concerned) You for real?
Danny: Yeah.
Steve: That's not normal.
Danny: I know it's not normal. Listen to this. On my wedding day, I'm looking at Rachel, just about to say "I do." And all I can see is the day she's gonna serve me with divorce papers. No joke. And I... I don't know, man. The only sustained happiness I ever felt in my life so far is Grace. And, you know, it's just a matter of time before she turns 18, and then she's out the door and she marries some schmuck. I don't know.
Steve: (serious) You got to change, man. You can't live like that.
Danny: Well, I'd like very much to change. It's just not so simple, you know?
-- after losing Billy, Rick(kinda), Grace, Meka, Matt, all the stuff with Rachel and her mother, Gracie being taken away from him almost 3? times, being used as spare parts for Charlie -because if he hadn't been sick, Danny would have never known Charlie was his son and wow if that isn't a punch to the gut-, being there for his mother and sisters when they need something and then they just go 'kay thnx bye' and disappear, all the brushes with death Steve's had, plus his own, plus the stress of worrying about everyone, plus being kidnapped tortured shot and afterwards being basically abandoned by his best friend while barely out of hospital unable to walk unassisted I'm also mad Steve didn't answer his text or his last words wtf Steve?! , not to mention the casual way Danny talks about killing himself through the seasons... and I'm pretty sure I'm forgetting some stuff! man, Danny needs therapy ;_; (and I need to rewatch :D)
EDIT: HOLY SHIT I forgot about Reyes and Colombia, what did all that go - they beat the sht out of him and the guilt he had (and boy if that's not a nice starter for Danny whump... they could have probably done something else and not just beat him up...)
I have lost count also of how many people spell it Columbia and not Colombia in fanfics; un saludo pa' mis hermanos latinoamericanos.

ok fuck it context now on ao3
“I’m freaking out, man!”
“You’re what? Why? This is like, what you’ve been waiting for, isn’t it?”
“I mean, yeah, dude, but now it’s here, it’s happening, and tomorrow it’ll be done and I can’t take it back!”
“Do you want to take it back? Because I think that’s a terrible idea, but if it’s really what you want, I’ll sneak you out the back right now.”
Dustin deflates a little, slumping into the plush chair this weird little church greenroom was nice enough to provide. “No, I don’t want to leave. Of course I don’t.”
Steve puts his hands on Dustin’s shoulders, not massaging, just resting. He doesn’t want to smear too much of his scent onto him before the ceremony, but old habits die hard. Steve suspects he’s always going to want to scent the kids for comfort, even though they’re literally all grown and starting families of their own and don’t need their old omega babysitter anymore.
Case in point, Dustin’s wedding is meant to start in, oh, looks like about 25 minutes, so Steve has to smooth this crisis over double time.
“What’s really bothering you, Dust? You were over the moon yesterday, and the day before that, and every day since you and Susie proposed to each other. Hell, every day since you met! What’s going on now?”
There’s a pause, which is always unsettling coming from Dustin, who hasn’t shut up for more than twelve consecutive minutes in the decade plus Steve has known him, but then he sighs.
“She wants kids.”
Steve’s brow furrows. “And you…don’t?”
Dustin huffs, frustration rising in his scent. “It’s not that I don’t, it’s that I don’t know if it’s a good idea, you know?”
“And you guys haven’t talked about this before now? You’ve been together for like eleven years, dude!”
“We have, of course we have! I’m just thinking about the risks, Steve! I’m a beta, I can’t carry her pups, and pregnancies are dicey for alpha females! What if something happens?”
“First of all don’t call women females, it’s weird. Erica or Nance will definitely smack you for that, and you don’t need a black eye in your wedding photos.” Dustin nods, cringing a little.
“Second, pregnancy isn’t the only option, man, and also it’s her decision. If she wants to carry them, that’s a discussion you need to have with her, but you can’t just shut her down about it. She knew you were a beta when she decided to marry you. She picked you because she loves you, don’t go deciding for her she’s better off with someone else. And besides, if you decide it doesn’t feel right for both of you, you can talk about adoption, or surrogacy, or…I don’t know what all the options are, but I bet there’s tons! Hell, I’d carry for you guys, if you wanted.”
“You would?” Dustin’s eyes get big and shiny almost immediately, and shit, Steve’s gotta shut this down now. The groom can’t be going out there with red eyes and tear stains, Susie will murder Steve on principle.
But he can’t lie to Dustin. Swore he never would, not when it mattered. “Course I would, man, what’s family for? Aw hell, kid, don’t cry, your mate will run me over with her car if your photos are fucked up because of me.”
“I just- I can’t believe you’d do that for me! You don’t even know if I’ll be any good at it!”
Ah, so that’s what this is really about.
“Of course you’ll be good at it, Henderson. You’d be an incredible dad, any kid would be lucky to have you. I mean, your kids are gonna turn out to be nerd city, but that was always a given.”
Dustin gives him a bitchy little eye roll, which was of course Steve’s aim. He still smells anxious, though.
“How can you be sure, though? It’s not like I have any idea what a dad is supposed to be like, you know? It’s why I kept latching onto older male figures, no offense to you and Eddie.”
Little shit. “You should be so lucky, you little twerp.”
Dustin shoves him away, but he’s grinning now, and his scent is slowly returning to the lemon-bright joy that colors it so often Steve just associates it with Dustin’s base scent at this point, so he’ll take the win.
“You really wanna know how I know you’ll make a great dad, Dustybun?”
“Don’t fucking call me that, today’s supposed to be my day!”
“I’m your best man, I’ll call you whatever I want. Seriously though, I have a story for you.”
“A story, huh? I don’t know, Eddie’s more the storyteller in your relationship…”
“I’m gonna go out there and tell your bride to delay the ceremony because you shat your slacks and need new ones, you menace.”
“Okay, okay!” Dustin laughs. “Tell your story.”
“I was gonna put this in my speech later, but I think you need to hear it now, and honestly it might be more about me than you, and I don’t want to steal the spotlight or anything.”
“Not worried about that, but I’m intrigued.”
“You know how when you’re a kid, you learn how to pick out emotion scents by context clues, from like your family and stuff?”
Dustin lifts an unimpressed eyebrow. “Yes, Steve, I’m aware of one of the foundational tenets of our society, which we all personally experienced.”
“Almost fifteen years I’ve known you, and your attitude hasn’t improved one bit, you know that?”
Dustin waves imperiously for him to continue. Steve glares at him, but they really are running short on time.
“You ever know a kid who had like, a gap? Some feeling they had never run into before, so they didn’t know what the smell meant?” Dustin shakes his head, looking curious.
“There was this girl in my class when we were like, seven? Eight? Something like that. Anyway, she borrowed Tommy’s favorite eraser, one of those animal-shaped ones with the faces printed on? He loved that thing. The girl, Cassie, she broke it, by accident. Tommy lost his shit. I’d never seen him so angry. And like, you know how little kids emotions don’t really come through that strong? He smelled like, grown-up angry. Filled the whole room. Freaked the teacher out, too. Everyone’s backing the hell up out of Tommy’s way, even me. But Cassie was just confused. Because no adult in her life had ever been truly angry around her, so she hadn’t learned what it smelled like yet.”
Dustin is listening avidly, looking gratifyingly similar to how he does when Eddie DMs.
“Anyway, Tommy slapped her so hard it left a bruise, got his dumb ass suspended. But I just remember being so jealous, you know? Can you imagine? Eight years old and never knew what anger smelled like. Hell, at that point anger was just what home smelled like to me.”
Aw shit, now Dustin just smells sad.
“Do you remember when I drove you to the Snow Ball?”
Dustin’s got his thinking face on now, trying to figure out why Steve keeps jumping all over the place. Sue him, he’s no Eddie.
He nods anyway.
“Before you got out of the car, when I told you I’d come back to pick you up, you gave me this huge smile, and the car filled up with something I’d never smelled before. Not really, anyway. Maybe like, in passing, you know? Like in the hallway at school, but always faint and never towards me, so I never focused on it.”
Dustin’s eyebrows are totally scrunched up now, little genius brain whirring away. Goddamn brat never had any patience.
“I didn’t ask about it, because I wasn’t sure it was important, and also a little because I felt like enough of a caveman around you little rocket scientist dweebs I didn’t need you explaining feelings to me too, but I kept smelling it from you after that. And from El, and a little from Lucas and Max and even once from your mom, but it was just confusing, you know? I couldn’t figure out what was causing it, so I had no context clues to figure out what it meant.
“And then at Starcourt, after Robin and I went to go puke up those Russian drugs—”
“Ditched me and Erica who were very responsibly trying to wrangle you, you mean.”
“Tomato, tomahto, kid. Anyway, I told her I had a crush on her and she panicked and came out to me, so I switched to making fun of her crush so she would know I was okay with it, and suddenly there was that smell again. First time I ever smelled it coming from her. So after everything was done, I asked her.”
“Oh, so you’ll ask her, but not me? Hurtful, Steve.”
Steve rolls his eyes. “Yeah, shithead, because Robbie already knew I was a moron, and she was never gonna want to go out with me, so I didn’t need to impress her. I could look stupid to Rob back then, but I still wanted you guys to think I was cool.”
“Steve, buddy, my brother, my best friend, my favorite jock please don’t tell Lucas I said that, we literally never thought you were cool.”
“Now who’s being hurtful?”
“Just the truth, Munson. I tell it like it is.”
“Ugh, whatever. The point is, I asked Bobbie what she felt for me in that bathroom, and she told me that’s when she realized she would love me forever. That we were going to be best friends.”
Dustin looks stricken.
“That’s what I was smelling all that time. Honey. That’s what I smelled in the car in the Hawkins Middle parking lot. You loved me. You were literally the first person in my whole life who ever did.”
“Steve—”
“This isn’t—look, I know it’s kind of sad and pathetic for kid Steve, but this isn’t about that. It’s not about me, okay? It’s about how my whole life turned around the day Dustin Henderson decided he loved me, because he never stopped. Not for a single second of the last thirteen years, and because you loved me then, I have a platonic soulmate and a horde of little siblings and a mate I adore and more friends than I can count on all my fingers and toes! You’re the one who encouraged me to go to cosmetology school, you’re the one who introduced me to Eddie, you’re the one who stood by me and let me crash on your mom’s couch when my parents kicked me out. My life is full of love, and joy, and purpose, and it all started with you, Dustin. I’m here because you loved me, and because once you started loving me you never stopped. I have smelled honey on you every single day since the 1984 Snow Ball, and that’s how I know you’ll be an incredible father. Because if you have all that love for a washed up ex-jock omega nobody had ever loved before? You’ll have all that and more times a million for any kid lucky enough to call you Dad.”
They’re both crying by now. Susie is gonna kill them for sure, but as Dustin buries himself in Steve’s arms like he’s still six inches shorter, Steve decides it doesn’t matter. This is worth it.
There’s a knock at the door, just in time it seems.
“Dingus, baby Dingus, you in there? T minus 5 minutes, boys, stick those feet in the oven if you gotta!”
“Yeah, Bobs, I hear you! We’ll be out in a sec, no cold feet in sight.”
“Roger that, bubba! I’ll inform the bride!” He can hear her racing off, probably dancing with pre-wedding excitement. For a cynical lesbian who has a new girlfriend every month and swears marriage is an archaic institution built on misogyny and omegaphobia, she sure does love weddings.
“You ready, kid?”
Dustin has taken the brief interlude as an opportunity to splash his face with water from the sink in the corner, so he doesn’t look like he’s been crying to into Steve’s shoulder, but Steve makes sure to straighten his tie and finger comb his curls back into place.
“Yeah, I think I’m ready.” He looks at Steve for a long moment, then throws his arms around him one last time. “I’m really glad you’re my brother, Steve.”
Steve squeezes him tighter for a moment, breathing in the familiar scent of lemon and cut grass and honey. Of family. Of love.
“Yeah, kid. Me too.”

happy 202-five 🥳🥂 (sorry i think i’m hilarious)
as it is new year’s day, it only felt fitting to write a little snippet of glitter on the floor max and daniel celebrating new year’s alone—or so they thought. (1.2k, G)
“I feel like we’ve forgotten something,” Daniel says as Max passes a flute of champagne to him. Below them, the hoards of people wanting to catch a glimpse of the fireworks over Port of Monaco grow louder, as the clock ticks down till midnight. “Or someone.”
Matilda’s stuck in London after her flight was delayed. Lucia’s out with Andie and their friends at some Michelin star restaurant somewhere. Gary and Steve are probably destroying the new chair they got after they destroyed the last one. Molly is sleeping soundly on the sim chair in their office. Daniel’s next to him on their balcony, curled up on the sofa with two blankets and a puffer jacket on him.
(Two blankets because Daniel still refuses to wear shorts even when he’s cold.)
“I think this is the first year in a long time we’re spending New Year’s alone,” Max responds, tucking himself between the couch armrest and Daniel. “So maybe that is why it feels so weird.”
“Yeah, the house is so quiet without the kids. Reminds me of when we first started dating,” Daniel says, balancing the champagne flute on the armrest next to him. “Could do whatever we wanted without two children bickering in the background,” he murmurs, turning to face Max and sliding his frozen hands underneath his shirt.
He nudges a knee between Max’s legs and slots himself on top of him, swinging a leg over his thigh and placing his weight on it. Max reaches up and threads his hands through Daniel’s hair, pulling him down into a kiss but it’s hard to take him seriously when his puffer jacket squeaks at every movement.
“Daniel,” Max murmurs in between their kisses. “Daniel, your jacket.” He tugs on the zipper, trying to get his husband to temporarily part with it when Daniel pulls back.
“Daniel,” he says again. “Your jacket. It makes that sound that you know I do not like.”
“Aw. But I like this jacket,” Daniel pouts, like he doesn’t know that Max has been trying to get rid of it for the past twenty years. Every time it’s in the donation pile it mysteriously finds its way back into their closet, front and centre.
From behind them, there’s a big slam from the front door, before a voice yells down, “I’m fine!”
Max is about to chalk it down to one of their neighbours being drunk and confusing the apartments for one another, when the voice comes echoing down the apartment again, with three knocks on the door.
“Papa! Dad! Can you open the door? I think I broke the lock.” Max and Daniel take one look at each other, before pushing themselves off the couch and making their way down.
Lucia is standing there with a sheepish look on her face, a box of pizza in her hand. Andie’s next to her with a nervous smile. “I tried the code and it wasn’t working, and I left the keys at Andie’s place. Sorry.”
Daniel waves them in, hugging them as they walk past. “All good Luce. Thought you two would stay out longer?”
Gary and Steve immediately saunter down the hallway, tails up in the air and weaving between them. Gary lets out a long perfunctory meow at Andie, who picks him into her arms, bouncing him like a baby. He can hear his purring, even from a distance.
“I just don’t think we’re fine dining people,” Andie explains. She has a finger underneath Gary’s chin, scratching him to his heart’s content. “Plus the restaurant doesn’t have Sir Gaga, does it?”
Lucia pulls a face. “Absolutely not. Sir Gaga is worse than Gazza. I am not letting you name our future children, your track record of names is terrible.”
“Don’t listen to her Sir Gaga,” Andie gasps in mock outrage, walking past her and out to the balcony. “You have a wonderful name, Lucia’s just jealous.”
Molly comes trotting out of the office, sitting herself right in front of Lucia. She shakes her head fondly, following Andie with Molly in tow. “At least you have a normal-ish nickname, don’t you Mozzarella?”
Daniel takes a moment to process Molly’s nickname. “Mozzarella?”
“You named birds, Daniel,” Max says bluntly. “So I am not sure you can talk.”
They’re about to move back to their outdoor couch when the sound of keys jingling in the lock plays. Max opens the door to find Matilda on the other side, two suitcases behind her and slightly frazzled.
“Did you know they wouldn’t let me into the street until I proved I lived at the apartment? And of course none of my ID showed this address—why would it show my parents address—and this cop was such a dick to me,” Matilda rants, yanking her suitcases inside.
“Oh my god, I am never travelling on New Year’s Eve again, that was horrible.” Matilda looks at the door behind her. “Did you change the code?”
Max waves his hand around. “Lucia timed it out. We’ll fix it in the morning.”
The broken door lock offender sticks her head out of the balcony door, pointing at her sister with the pizza box in hand. “Why are you here? I thought you were stuck with Riley in London,” she asks, using air quotes for her back half of the last sentence.
“No, I was actually stuck in London, don’t do the air quotes,” Matilda shoots back. “Why are you here, I thought you and Andie were at that fancy restaurant or whatever with your friends?”
“We got hungry, so we left,” Lucia explains.
“At a restaurant?”
“The portions were really tiny—look, shut up. Maybe I just wanted to eat pizza with my fiancée at home instead of wondering if I was using the right fork or not,” Lucia says pointedly, shaking the box. “Do you want the pizza or are you still judging my restaurant choices?”
Matilda practically vaults over all the living room furniture and snatches the box from Lucia, almost planting herself on top of Andie when she jumps over the back of the outdoor couch.
Andie slides a soft drink across the coffee table towards Matilda, who downs a quarter of the can in one sip.
“What?” Matilda looks around at them. “I refuse to pay for bad airport food, this isn’t a new thing about me.”
“Where’s Riley?” Andie asks instead, passing another soft drink across in preparation. “I thought you two were going to visit his parents in Colorado?”
“Left him in London,” Matilda mumbles through a mouthful of pizza.
“Matilda!” Daniel chastises. “Are you serious?”
“I did ask if he wanted to come, but apparently staying in a hotel overnight was more appealing than flying back here, so.” Matilda shrugs in a way that definitely tells him she’s annoyed at him over it. “Would rather spend the new year with you guys than in some random hotel.”
There’s a silent pact between them to not push too many questions about Riley on Matilda. Max could barely keep up with the way they were bouncing around each other at the very beginning.
They’re all saved from accidentally saying the wrong thing when the fireworks start. Daniel startles with the loud bangs echoing across the sky, scrambling to get his jacket off the floor and pulling the hood over his ears.
“Pretty cool fireworks, right?” Matilda asks, looking over at them. Max stretches his arm over Daniel, pulling them all closer.
Daniel slides his hand into Max’s underneath the blanket, squeezing it three times. “Yeah,” he exhales. “Pretty cool fireworks.”

Hello! I was wondering if you could do the gang (separate) with a reader that’s like a girl version of Benny Rodriguez from The Sandlot. If not that’s fine ❤️
Tumblr media
Summary: The outsiders x Benny Rodriguez!Reader
Warnings: None
Author's Note: so, shocker, I never watched the sandlot..i probably should. but I searched him up and I got "kind, compassionate" kind of like the big sibling of the group but in a good way. did i get it right yall....
PONYBOY loves you so much. You remind him of his brother a lot, without the arguing bit, which is probably why he likes you so much. He tries to stay in your good graces, doing things for you that he wouldn't even do for Darry, etc. When Darry can't make it to his parent teacher conferences, he gets you to come instead.
JOHNNY thinks you're the coolest chick ever. You're on equal grounds as Dally in his eyes, which is not an easy feat. He likes to crash at your place sometimes, especially when he doesn't want to be at home for a while. He is so considerate, especially near holidays or big events. It's his way of giving thanks.
SODAPOP doesn't really see you as a sibling. He would rather have friends that he can have fun with. He's grateful you've still got some childishness left in you, and you two end up having a lot of fun together. He's grateful that you care about him, but he doesn't need another Darry. Plus, you're the only birthday he remembers other than his mom and dad (and darrys too... sometimes)
STEVE loves to make a fuss about how you get in his way when he wants to have fun. He's only lightheartedly joking, though, because you've gotten him out of some serious situations. He feels like he owes you a lot, so he always tries to make it up to you through multiple small acts of affection. He's secretly turned to you and not Soda when he was having a personal issue, and he's forever grateful you comforted without judging.
TWO BIT thinks you're an extraordinary girl. He knows you don't have to put in the effort to make sure he's safe and well taken care of, but you do it anyways, and he's infinity grateful. You've let him crash at your place multiple times when he's wasted. He never let's anyone speak badly about you. He'd sooner smash the bottle he's holding into sharp glass fragments to use than listen to someone defile the person he trusts and cares for so much. He trusts you with his whole life.
DARRY thinks it's nice to have someone more mature and cautious in the group. He thinks that you two can relate to a lot of things. There's been many times when you and Darry stayed up late just to talk about everything that's been going on. He loves those nights. It makes him feel a bit more his age and actually seen. Darry appreciates how even if he was forced into this overbearing role as a parent, you still find a way to make him feel like a little kid again, ex. picking him up from some place, making him his birthday cake, etc.
DALLAS thought you were going to be a burden to the gang at first. He wasn't kind to you at all, but he was shocked when that normally mature and more respectful lady turned into a no-nonsense, "I won't take your shit" lady. Ever since then, you've been slowly gaining his respect. His new favorite place to go to when he's drunk or hungry or whatever is yours because it's actually quiet. He really likes how you give him a chance to be somewhat of a civil person instead of off the bat treating him as a dumb greaser or hooligan. It was annoying at first, but now he's learned to show some parts of himself he has before. He thinks being around you is relaxing.

Unexpected Delights T | 468 words Prompt for @steddielovemonth: Love is Co-Parenting
Having a child of their own is something that Eddie and Steve have been talking about for a long time. It's something that Eddie had thought Steve would push for more. Instead, he accepts Eddies explanation with ease.
It makes Eddie feel... uncomfortable, for some reason. But he knows he was right to tell Steve "I'm not ready yet".
Being a father is a big responsibility, something Steve and Eddie are both aware of. They both know that, if they are to adopt or have a surrogate, they both need to be completely on board.
Only, Eddie had thought Steve would push more.
He's not sure why he feels disappointed.
"Why not have a trial run?" Robin suggests, when Eddie turns to her for advice. "I can talk to Dustin. You could both work together to babysit Evie and see if it's something you could do."
"Oh, you're a genius."
Steve is just as excited by the idea, but especially when Eddie reluctantly admits that he has been thinking about potentially having a child with Steve.
Plus, an excuse to spend time with Dustin and Suzies newborn, alone, is an idea that Steve finds perfect.
Dustin, tired from work and daycare, is also thrilled at the idea.
"Maybe we'll finally sleep through the night."
"Yikes," Eddie winces. "That bad?"
Dustin laughs, patting him on the shoulder. "You're about to find out!"
Despite how they prepare, with Dustin's warnings and Steve banking on his previous babysitting knowledge, the first day is rough.
It's hard to find a rhythm, to settle into the new routine. They have a lot of false starts, until finally...
"She's so cute," Steve whispers, rocking the baby in his arms.
Eddie wishes he could take a photo of them. He settles for stepping closer, hands settling on Steve's hips.
"Yeah," he whispers, pressing a light kiss to Steve's forehead. "You two are the cutest thing I've ever seen."
"Shut up," Steve rolls his eyes.
"We should definitely look for a surrogate. The only thing that would make this sight better is if you were holding a little mini Harrington."
"I don't know... I think we could handle some mini Munsons too."
"Ok, we're not having six kids."
"Wh- hey, I wasn't thinking six! Like... maybe four."
"Jesus Christ."
"I'm joking, I only really want two. So they can have a sibling."
"Oh. Yeah, that..." Eddie looks down at little Evie. "Yeah. It'd be nice to have a sibling."
"Two kids, then?"
"Two."
Steve beams.
Eddie is sure that he's struggling to keep still, practically vibrating with joy.
"We're a good team," he finally manages to say. Eddie worries that his cheeks will start to ache with how wide his smile is. "Great babysitters, at least."
"And we'll be even better dads."
"You think?"
"I know."

1999
You sigh lightly under your breath before smiling at the sound of your ten and soon to be six-year-old playing in the pool outside.
The cold weather had begun to dissipate with spring just around the corner which meant it was about time for that feature of your two-story home to be utilized. After putting your things down, you quietly watched by the back door as your kids laughed at each other’s antics.
Molly was an incredibly smart girl who exceled in almost all of her classes. Like you, she decided to play basketball and was actually pretty good at it, winning trophies that you displayed in the living room next to the pictures of her fathers embarrassing her while she showed off her triumph for the camera.
Steve rarely if ever missed a game, cheering her on enthusiastically from the sidelines, clapping his hands and shouting her name even while still wearing his suit after his long workday at the office with Robin.
“That’s my girl! You got this, Mol! Don’t let them pass on you!”, he shouted extatically before placing his hands on his hips as he watched her play.
Because of their experience with you, both men would visibly panic if she got hurt on the court, sometimes even running to her to make sure she wasn’t hurt.
“Are you alright, sweetheart?”, Eddie asked kneeling down to pet her head.
“I’m ok, dad. I just tripped.”, she giggled, taking the hand he offered her to help her get to her feet.
Steve dusted her off while the metalhead checked her over to make sure she genuinely was alright.
“Gentlemen, we’re going to need you to sit back down.”, the referee instructed.
“Excuse me while I make sure my daughter is ok! What did she even trip over? It’s your job to—”
“Ok, ok, guys. Come on.”, you coo softly as you grab both their arms to tug them back to the stands, turning to wink at Molly who chuckled at her dad’s overprotective nature.
Eddie did his best to be there at as many events as he could but struggled when he was on tour or promoting Corroded Coffin’s new album. Ozzy seemed to gravitate towards music as well even at his young age having you constantly finding him fiddling with one of his father’s guitars. At his preschool, his teachers always told you they found him in the corner strumming the tiny ukulele like it was an electric guitar.
Your son gasps as he tears open his wrapping paper on Christmas morning to find a guitar that was just his size.
“Mama! Is this for me?”
“No, we just thought we’d mess with you before I use it on tour.”
You narrow your eyes Eddie’s way as you playfully hit his arm.
“Yes, baby, that’s all yours.”
You were thankful that neither man never missed a holiday given how busy all three of you were but where your schedule was consistent as a teacher, theirs moved all over the place. While Eddie was dealing with things band related, Steve and Robin traveled from place to place either looking for new investors or providing support with their non-profit. Their office and the rockstar’s label were both in Indianapolis where you moved to have more space for your growing family but you missed them terribly every time they were away especially when they were gone at the same time.
“Mommy!”, your son shouted as he waved his little hand in your direction.
Beaming wide, you stepped outside where your best friend was sitting along the edge of the pool as designated babysitter.
The first few months after your move were rough because your family and Wayne were no longer close by so when Masie and her boyfriend moved to your town, you were so elated. Since her designer business was run mostly through her home, she offered to watch the kids until you or one of the boys got off work.
“Hey Oz. Are you two having fun with Aunt Maze?”
“Yeah! She won’t swim with us though.”, Molly jokes, selling out her aunt.
“Look, I’m here to tan not be a mermaid.”, she replies regally as if she’s royalty. “How was your day?”
“It was good.”
Your best friend narrows her eyes skeptically over her sun glasses and yanks on your wrist so you can sit beside her.
“Don’t act like I haven’t known you since kindergarten and can read you like a book. What’s going on?”
She waits patiently while your eyes flick to your children who were now once again preoccupied playing in the water.
“I don’t know why but this whole long-distance thing has been really hard lately. I miss them both so much.”
“Have you talked to them about it?”
“I can’t do that, Maze. This is their careers. What? Am I going to ask Eddie to give up touring and Steve to not talk help those kids with what that do?”
“No but, sweetie, it’s not selfish to ask for more time with your husbands.”
You grin at the title still loving the sound even after all these years. For your ten-year anniversary, the rockstar surprised you and his friend with a trip to a tattoo parlor to get a more permanent ring inked on your fingers just above the rings they bought you and each other.
“Oh, don’t be a baby, Harrington.”, Eddie teased as he watched Steve close his eyes and wince. “After this you’re going to want more, right sweetheart?”
You giggle from your spot in the chair knowing he was right. You yourself had surprised them with their initials on your chest near your heart a few years earlier.
In casual conversation, they referred to you as their wife especially the rockstar who let it flow freely from his mouth during interviews and corrected anyone who said otherwise.
“We’re here with Corroded Coffin guitarist Eddie Munson on Total Request Live. How are you, man? How’s the girlfriend?”
Eddie chuckles sassily as he places his palm on the man’s shoulder.
“Wife, Carson. I’ve known and been in love with Y/N since our junior year of high school. Come on, dude. I shouldn’t have to remind you every time.”
Steve had actually turned down an investor not only because he referred to you incorrectly but disrespected you as well.
“Wife…Yeah, alright, Mr. Harrington, I’ll indulge your little fantasy.”
“It’s not a fantasy, sir. She’s the mother of our children, she saved both our lives, and we love her. Y/N is our wife.”
“Hm, ok, sure. Whatever you say.”
Steve sighed as he smirked and rose to his feet.
“Come on, Robin. We’ll look elsewhere.”
“Mr. Harrington, be reasonable!”
“Honestly, sir, our entire non-profit is about taking care of children and people who have been bullied, demeaned, and cast aside by society or their parents because of who they love. We protect them from people who mock them or are dismissive of who they are and who they love. People like you, Mr. York. Thank you for your time.”
“Just talk to them, Y/N. When are they coming home?”
“Tomorrow. Eddie’s flight connects to where Steve is so they will both board there and come home together.”
##############
“I don’t see them, mom.”, your daughter whines as she pushes up on her toes to search over people’s heads.
“They’ll be here, babe. The lady said their flight had a bit of a delay so it may take a bit more time.”
After a couple more minutes, a hat came into view you immediately recognized as the one Eddie wore so he wouldn’t be easily recognized walking side by side with a fluffy head of hair that could only belong to Steve Harrington.
“Is that them?”, you ask as you point towards the figures walking down the hall and as soon as Molly confirms she sprints towards with her brother close behind.
“Hey…hey guys.”, Steve greets in a gravelly voice filled with sleep deprivation as he lifts his daughter off her feet to hug her tightly to his chest while an equally tired Eddie bends down to pick up Ozzy. “Oh my God. We missed you so much.”
“Hey sweetheart.”, the rockstar whispers as they switch kids and he presses her head to his shoulder. “You definitely got some sun yesterday.”
“We, we went swimming yesterday cause Aunt Maze said it was ok cause it wasn’t so cold.”, your son declared making the pretty boy smile as he tried to place him on his feet. “No, dada!”
“I know, buddy, but I want to give mommy a hug to.”
“Ah too late.”, Eddie jokes as he wraps one arm around you and pulls you into his embrace. “Hey, pretty girl.”
You smiled as you craned your neck to kiss his lips before leaning over to do the same with Steve as he wrapped his arm around your neck.
***
You kept your arm looped through Eddie’s as you rested your head on his shoulder, inhaling his smell that you missed so much.
“This is amazing, honey, and you made this all by yourself?”, Steve inquired as he took another bite of the spaghetti on his plate.
“No.”, she giggled, blushing at his praise. “Mom and Ozzy helped me. We’ve been talking about me taking some cooking classes over the summer though.”
“Yeah, then Robin can hire you as her personal chef since she hates using the stove.”, the rockstar joked making his son cackle with the same wide smile that mirrored his own. “What about you, Oz? Taking a carpentry class so you can build us stuff we don’t have to pay for?”
“Noooo. T-This summer I’m going to play Spyro on the PlayStation with you daddy.”
Eddie beamed with pride at the notion that his son wanted to spend so much time with him. Both men loved being fathers and were grateful for every moment they got to spend with them.
Steve absolutely adored reading with Ozzy and while on trips would call him on the phone so he could hear him read out loud.
“The princess…sc-screamed in t-t-ter…”
“Terror.”, you help as he looks at you with wide, expectant eyes.
“…terror when the witch apurd…”
“Close, bud. Appeared.”, Steve guided as he continued to follow along with his own copy of the book he bought before he left.
“…appeared but suddenly the kite…”
“Knight, baby.”
“That’s fair, Oz, but remember the K is silent. You got the sound for the I-G-H-T right though.”
One night when Molly was eight, the school was having a father daughter dance and she was utterly devasted both of her father’s weren’t allowed to come with the school claiming only one parent could go. Mirroring what they did for your prom, you took her dress shopping insisting she wear it home.
When she walked through the door, the lights were low and some soft music was playing on the stereo. Above the fireplace was a banner that read “Daddy/Daughter Dance” with both boys standing underneath it in their suits.
“May I have this dance?”, Eddie asked as he offered her his palm which she eagerly took before Steve did the same with you as you watched them sway.
The rockstar lifted her by her hands so her feet were on his and she laughed as he led while trying to make sure they both didn’t stumble.
“You look gorgeous, princess.”
She beams as she wraps her arms around his waist, hugging him tightly to her.
“I love you, dad.”
“Alright, freaks, get out of here so we can talk to mommy.”, Steve instructed. “We’ll do the dishes, sweetie. You guys just go watch some tv.”
Once they were out of earshot, the pretty boy shifted his gaze back towards you both to find his friend smirking as you nuzzled your face deeper into his bicep.
“Everything ok, baby?”
“Yeah, I just miss you guys so much but it hurts even more when you’re both gone.”, you whisper trying to control the urge to cry.
“I know, sweetheart.”, Eddie sighs as he lifts his arm to pull you closer to his side. “We talked with our agent and supposedly we won’t be traveling for a while so I’ll be here.”
“Robin and I don’t have any meetings coming up any time soon so I’ll be here as well.”, Steve cooed before getting up to sit on your side of the table. “I know, baby girl. I hope you know we appreciate everything you do and how supportive you’ve been when it comes to all this.”
You softly smile his way as silently nod.
This isn’t normal for you but they both know how hard it is for you when they are away so both men let it go.
***
That night you stared at the men you loved, running your nails down Steve’s back while playing with Eddie’s hair, as your mind went into overdrive which was nothing new for you. Being a full-time teacher and full-time parent wasn’t easy for anyone. Thankfully thanks to Eddie and Steve’s careers, money wasn’t something you needed to worry about but trying to make sure your kids had everything else they needed filled your mind.
You desperately needed Daddy and Master but you had zero idea how to ask for them. You knew they were busy working around the clock to achieve their goals they worked so hard for and quite frankly you didn’t want to be a bother.
“That I’m a burden damage.”, Eddie’s voice echoed in your brain.
You knew Maze was right; if you just talked to them and told them how you felt everything would be ok but the little subby girl inside you kind of wanted them to take notice without you having to tell them what you need.
“No, no, no. That’s selfish and not fair to them.”
“Eddie…Steve…”, you whispered, gently shaking their shoulders to no avail. Something inside your chest cracked as a few tears began to involuntarily fall. “Daddy…Sir…please…”
“Hmmm…what-what’s going on? Baby, are you crying?”
At his friend’s question, the metalhead promptly pushed up on his elbow to scan your features.
“Hey, hey, hey. What’s wrong, sweetheart? Did you have a nightmare?”
“I…miss you w-w-when…you’re away.” As you really began to sob, both men sat up, bringing you with them before Steve reached beside him to turn on the bedside lamp. “I’m sorry.”
“Y/N, honey, it’s alright. Calm down and talk when you’re ready.”
They’re kindness was hitting your heart in the best way making you cry harder while the boys exchanged a worried glance.
“I’m sorry…I don’t know why I’m acting like this…”, you breathily laugh at your expense. “I just… when you’re both gone I miss you so much and I feel like these trips are coming closer together… I get worried that this will be the trip that you miss something important with Molly or Oz. I know how much being alone hurt you, Steve, when your parents were gone.”
“Then…I miss…us. I miss hanging out with you two and talking to you about everything without a phone being in the way. I miss Daddy and Master. It’s been over a year since we played like that. I’m scared—”
“Ok, sweetheart, breathe.”, Eddie tries to comfort as he scoots closer to you and continues running his palm along your head. “How long have you been feeling all this?”
“A while. I know you guys are working and I can’t ask you to give that up—”
“But that’s not what you’re asking for right, honey?”, Steve inquires, wiping your eyes with the tissue he retrieved. “You’re asking for time.”
You aggressively nod your head and both men can’t help but chuckle.
“We understand, Y/N. I love, LOVE, being on stage and playing my guitar especially after everything we went through to get here but in our tour bus or hotel, I’ll pull out pictures of you guys and keep them by side.” Pausing, he grabs his wallet and pulls out the little laminate where he keeps his photos. “I always have these on me.”
You smile at the images of him holding baby Molly and Ozzy. There’s another of you in your wedding dress at the reception you planned for them and another with the three of you at your makeshift prom with them kissing your cheeks as you grinned.
“Ah you bastard. You took the prom one.”, Steve teases, taking out his wallet to hand you his own set. “These are the ones I carry.”
His first two are the same except with him holding his children but the one he has of you is from New York where you posed in your dress in front of the theater at the play you went see with your arms open wide towards the sky. Behind that was the picture you had taken when they took you to the beach for the first time almost 15 years ago.
“Which ones do you carry with you?”, the pretty boy asked just as Eddie came back to bed from collecting your own wallet from your purse.
Steve beamed at the newborn photos they took of your kids that day they were born along with one you had of him holding Molly as she blew out her candles on her cake at her first birthday. The rockstar smiled and kissed your temple at the image you snapped of him and a two-year-old Ozzy sitting on the floor while he strummed his guitar.
They weren’t surprised when you flashed the photos they had found in your room when they went to get your things after your parents kicked you out senior year; Eddie asleep after the Dio concert and Steve kissing your cheek after a date. The last picture was from prom night as well except it was the one they took right before it started to rain with Steve holding the camera high in the air to get all 3 of you.
“I love being able to save all these kids and traveling with Robin but, baby, I wouldn’t even be doing it if it wasn’t for you. You inspired me to be a better man and those kids are my everything. If you need us here more, honey, then we can do that.”
“Yeah?”
“Of course, and I know it’s been a while since we got to play but remember what you told me, sweetheart, at Molly’s baby shower?”
“Those titles never go away even when I’m saying your name.”
“Good girl.”, Eddie praises comforting you immediately. “Maybe, the three of us can go on vacation…like a second honeymoon or something. I know Wayne wouldn’t mind watching them.”
“I’d like that.”
Their smiles widen as they pull you back under the covers and hold you to them as you drift off to sleep.
#################
You were angry.
Both men said they wouldn’t be traveling anytime soon yet neither had been home that much the last couple of weeks. Eddie had suggested planning a vacation but nothing had been set in motion and you were getting antsy.
Grabbing your children, you left a note and headed back to Hawkins.
“Gran-ma!”
“Hey, Oz. How’s my little man?”, your mom cooed as she lifted him into her arm while your father hugged Molly.
“Are the guys coming later on?”
“Most likely not.”, you growled causing your parents to exchange a look.
“Well, I was about to watch that movie about the volcano that destroys the town on tv. Wanna watch it with me?”
You son cackles almost devilishly while his sister nods and your dad shakes his head with a smile following them to the living room.
“Ok, talk to me, sweetie. What’s going on?”
You sigh as you sit with your mom at the dining room table and tell her your woes. She listens patiently occasionally nodding her head while allowing you to finish.
“I can see why you’re upset but why don’t you talk to them?”
“I tried, mama, and look where that got me.”
The phone in their kitchen blares but for some reason it feels louder than normal as if scolding you to answer.
“Hello?” Your mother listens to the person on the other end before her eyes flick your way. “It’s Edward.”
“I’m not here right now.”
“Y/N, come speak to the man you love.”, she scolds eliciting an eye roll from you as you get up and take the receiver from her grasp.
“Eddie.”
“What the fuck are you doing?”, he asks with an edge as if he’s trying to control his temper. “How dare you take them out of town without fucking telling us.”
“I’m surprised you noticed. You two have barely been home.”
“We’ve been working, Y/N. When we talked, you said that’s not what you were asking us to stop doing.”
“You’re right. I was asking for time which I or the kids have yet to receive. You promised me!”
“So what, little girl? You thought you’d just punish us by disappearing to Hawkins for the weekend?”
“I didn’t disappear. I left a note.”
The chuckle that left him paired with the soft echo of Steve’s beside him had a pleasurable chill running down your spine.
“Is that really the game you want to play right now, Y/N? You think semantics are going to save you from the punishment you’re going to get for what you just did?”
“I’m not afraid you or Steven, Edward. Daddy and Master are gone and you both are too fucking busy for us so who cares.”
“You think Daddy and Master are gone? Oh, baby.”, he laughs. “Trust me, they’ve been right here watching and taking in everything their little whore does. It’s been a while since she’s needed to be put in her place.”
“Hm. Well, she’s been practically screaming for your attention but you never seemed to notice that.”
“You wanted our attention, babe, you got it.”
“Yeah and with how things have been you won’t fucking do anything so I’m not scared. I have to go. We’ll be home by Sunday.”
“Don’t hang up that phone, Y/N Y/L/N. We are not done here.”
“Yes, we are.”
***
You told your parents after your kids went to bed you were going to go for a little walk. To no surprise, your feet ended up taking you back to Hawkins High.
You dragged your feet through the parking lot where Carol had spray painted your car and in return you punched her. Steve shouted at them to leave you alone almost getting into a fight himself. Your fingers grazed the lockers as you heard yourself telling your tormentor she had no ass; the act landing you in detention where your life was forever changed.
Part of you expected to find them waiting in the classroom you met them in and your heart broke when they weren’t. You sat on the teacher’s desk as your eyes ran along the entirety of the room, sifting through memories good and bad. You could still feel Steve’s intense stare as he watched you talk to his friend and Eddie’s even stronger personality as he tried to get you to talk.
Laying back flat, you could still see the metalhead’s belt buckle in your peripheral before he knelt down to talk to you in that husky tone that drove you crazy. Shifting your gaze to the ceiling you could still feel Steve’s fingers digging into your hips and the taste of his lips when you surged forward to kiss him.
As the feelings began to overwhelm you, you slid off the furniture and continued your journey around the school, passing the lunchroom where you smiled at the memory of Eddie on top of the table telling the students you were theirs. Finding the stage in the theater, you sat in the same spot the three of you had sat in while you were painting.
The first time Steve threatened to spank you making a heat rise in your bones you had never experienced before. Five years later, you would have your roleplay here making you cum harder than you ever had.
After a while, you knew you needed to get back home but on your way out, you noticed the gym remembering where you became jealous and threw a basketball at where they were in the stands. You entered the girl’s locker room and leaned against the lockers where you felt Eddie for the first time. When they were done, they took you to the showers where you talked about Stephen King and they invited you to dinner.
Sighing, tears began to fill your eyes and you hastily dried them as you powerwalked back to the gym.
“It’s kind of amazing how in almost 15 years this school has yet to get better security.” Eddie’s voice startled you as you squeaked, your gaze finding theirs from their place on the bleachers. “Or at least a fucking lock.”
The metalhead rises to his feet and his shoes bang loudly against the wood as he makes his way to the floor.
“It’s also amazing how in that time some of your habits haven’t changed, little girl. Running away, hanging up on me, coming here…you not listening.”
“YOU not listening.”, you hissed his way. “You said you appreciate everything I do but you have no idea what that actually entails.”
“I see we’re doing this the hard way. Steve.”
The man himself silently stomps down the bleachers and strides towards you before reaching for your forearm. You try to fight back, pushing at his chest but he’s much stronger, lifting you off your feet and slamming you down against the hardwood.
Keeping one palm firmly on your throat, he utilizes the other to pull down your sweatpants and underwear but when your hand flies, hitting him across the face, he raises his own to do the same.
“I told you this isn’t a game you wanted to play.”, Eddie sneered leaning down with his palms on his knees beside you where you and Steve were glaring at each other. “Now, where were we during our phone call. Ah yes, you said Daddy and Master are gone and we’re too fucking busy is that right?”
“Yes.”
Again, Steve’s palm rears back and smacks you hard across the face.
“Yes, what?”
“Yes, SIR!”
This time when his hand connects with your cheek, you moan at the sensation.
“Yes, Sir.”, you answer with zero sarcasm.
“I told you, little girl. Daddy and Master are always watching and taking note. They fucking notice how hard you work when we’re out of town. How you and Maze work together to get things done.”
“We hear how much you all miss us when we call.”, Steve added. “And we feel how lonely you get when we can’t fall asleep with you. We feel it to.”
When your eyes roll, Eddie kneels down and replaces his friend’s hand around your throat.
“Do we need to use the fucking belt, Y/N!? Has it really been that long?!”
“You don’t understand!”
“Then help us to!”
Your bare feet push the pretty boy off you and even as the metalhead tightens his grip, you manage to flip him over on to his back where you straddle his waist.
“Molly started reading Lord of the Rings because she knows you like it, Sir. Sometimes she waits up hoping to talk to you more about it but by the time you come home from the label she’s already in bed.” Eddie blinks as he rests his hands on your hips while you turn your attention to Steve. “Ozzy has been practicing his swim time and wants to try out next year for the community team. He asks if when you’re not busy with Aunt Robin if you could give him some pointers, Daddy, but your never home in time.”
“They tell me they don’t care because ‘Dad and Dada’ are singing or saving people but I care. I care that I see that sad look on their faces when you’re not there. I care that they get their hopes up and you disappoint them! Just because you’re home doesn’t mean your home!”
“What about you?”
“What about me?”
Eddie sits up and firmly pinches your cheeks with his fingers.
“I know you know what he’s asking, Y/N. Don’t play coy. What about you?”
Your head starts to hang but his grip won’t allow it.
“We…we’ve spent almost everyday together since senior year when our parents kicked us out and we moved in with you and Wayne. After your careers took off i-it was hard but you both made up for it, taking us on vacations or just being home more in general. These p-p-past couple of years…you’re just…gone.”
“Sweetheart.”, the rockstar coos as he pets your head and dries your eyes.
“I don’t care about dates, gifts, or any superficial stuff like that when it comes to me. When you aren’t there to hold me at night, Sir, I feel so alone. I miss your smell and the way your lips feel against mine.”
Guiding you with his hands, he brought your mouth to his and you reveled in the taste.
“What else, baby, tell us.”
“I miss choking on your cock while Daddy’s tongue plays with my pussy—”
Steve’s hands yanking you down Eddie’s frame has a smirk flickering across your lips as he positions you on all fours over his friend’s waist. You make quick work of the metalhead’s belt as he lifts his hips to help you pull down his pants allowing his dick to spring free.
As soon as your mouth enveloped him, one of the former jock’s palms held on to your lower back as he utilized his other to allow his fingers to slide into your entrance while his tongue flicked along your clit.
“Fuck, sweetheart, I missed this to.”, Eddie groans as his fingers run through your hair. “W-When I jerk off in our hotel room before I crash, I see those big, beautiful eyes looking—shit—looking up me while your mouth is full.”
You gag as your throat constricts around him and his head falls back against the hardwood as he grunts in pleasure. Your lips come off him with a smack as a string of drool follows you and you continue to pump him with your hand as you whimper at the feeling of the man’s motions behind you.
“P-Please, Daddy. It feels so good!”
A sudden warmth encases you as your hair is tugged back and Steve’s fingers hasten between your legs.
“No one told you to stop sucking his dick, did they, little girl?”
“N-No, Daddy.”
“So why did you fucking stop?”, he growls in your ear. “Open.”
At his command, you do what he says before he pushes you down onto his friend’s cock once again.
“Fuck! That’s it, Steve. D-Don’t let her up till she fucking cums.”
Felling your pussy clench around his fingers, he lets you go and you cry out as the coil snaps.
“Atta girl. Daddy’s good girl.”, he murmurs, praising you as he lifts your shirt and uses it to wipe the spit from your face before fully removing it to toss near your other clothes. “Come here, honey.”
Effortlessly, Steve lifts you and carries you to the bleachers, placing you on top of him to straddle his waist.
“I m-miss your warmth when I hold you and rest my head on your chest.”, you whimper, watching as he fumbles with his own belt while struggling to keep his composure over his own desperate need to feel you. Cupping his face in your hands, you lean your forehead against his and he heavily exhales at the notion. “The way your fingers bruise my waist while you’re fucking me. You both hold me so tightly still…l-l-like I’m gonna disappear.”
As you push up against him, his palms glide along your back to support you while his lips open mouth kiss along your chest. His breath warms your skin as you gradually sink down onto his cock and he grunts at the sensation.
“Shit, baby girl, I dream about you on top of me like this. I wake up in the middle of the night in my hotel fucking hard as a rock wishing I-I could feel your—mmph—gorgeous body against mine.”
His amber irises glance behind you before he swivels his body around so his back is lying flat on one of the wood benches. A palm takes hold of your shoulder and you crane your neck just in time to see Eddie’s jaw drop as he guides himself into your ass.
It was absolutely euphoric feeling them both again after so long. They thrust their hips in sync as if no time had passed and every emotion hit you simultaneously as your body went limp against them allowing them to take over.
Steve grabbed your limbs and bent them behind your back and the metalhead seamlessly took hold of at your wrists using them as leverage as he slammed into your harder.
“Hey, hey… look… look at Daddy, baby.”
You whimpered as you struggled to do what he wanted but when you did your eyes locked with his, silently begging for them to push you over the edge. Eddie’s free hand tangled in your hair, pulling firmly while the other boy spanked your behind.
“I love you, Steve.”, you whispered.
“I love you to, baby. Oh f-fuck.”
His lips crashed to yours as you felt his spend warm your insides. Pressing up with one of his palms, he pushed you into the metalhead’s chest so both their foreheads could rest against your skin.
“I love you, Eddie. Fuck, I’m coming.”
As your orgasm washed over you, ringed fingers gripped your chin and turned you so he could kiss you as he thrust his release into your behind.
“FUCK! I…I love you, sweetheart.”
The three of you pant heavily as you hold each other, you with one arm around Steve’s neck and the other reaching behind you to do the same with Eddie as your fingers thread through his hair.
“I miss Eddie making me laugh or just sitting on the counter talking to me while you watch me cook. I miss Steve pulling my legs over his while we watch tv or you comforting me after I have a bad day. I miss the little touches, soft kiss, and whispers in my ear… We used to handle everything together and lately… I feel like…it’s just me…”
Steve’s thumbs caress your cheeks as Eddie kisses your shoulder.
“And I know things are different. I know you’re both handling your careers and we have two little monsters to handle… I know…I’m…physically not the same…”
“Whoa, whoa, whoa. What does that mean?”
“I just…I’ve had two kids—”
‘And?”, Eddie cuts you off before spanking your ass. “Are you implying that you aren’t still as fucking gorgeous as you were when we first saw you?”
“Look. I’m not like you two, ok? Mr. Popular Jock and I’m in a rock band—”
“Alright, well, that’s enough of that.”, Steve replies with a mocking tone as they rise to their feet and he throws you over his shoulder. “Seems like pretty girl has lost her mind.”
You laugh as they take you to the locker room and turn on the showers to clean you.
“If I suddenly turned into Wayne and lost all my hair, would you still love me?”
“Oh my God. Wayne has hair.”, you giggle. “And of course I would.”
“Pfft suuuure he does.”, he teases as he runs the soap along your skin. “What if Stevie got like a beer gut and lost his luscious head of hair?”
“Why do I get the gut, Mr. Rockstar? You get drunk way more than I do!”
“I would love you both no matter what.”, you coo as you keen into his chest and kiss his cheek making him smile.
“Then, honey, why do you think that would be a factor when it comes to you?”
Once you were clean and they collected your clothes, you allowed them to dress you before Eddie suddenly paused taking in your shirt.
“Not that I’m complaining but your drool is still clinging to this thing. Um…” Snapping his fingers, he grabs his own shirt and tugs it over your head, startled him when your arms wrap around his neck and you passionately kiss his lips. “I’m sorry, sweetheart. You’re right. We’ve been working too much and we promised you we would do better.”
“But we didn’t. I guess we thought since we still came home at the end of the night, it evened things out…I’m sorry to, Y/N.”, Steve apologizes and you lean forward to kiss him as well.
***
You smile as you hear your son’s loud footsteps bang around upstairs telling you he was awake.
“Yup, he’s got your genes, Edward.”, your dad joked with a grumble as he sipped his morning coffee.
“You know, sir, as much as I would love to have the nature vs nurture debate…” Right as he points towards the ceiling above, Molly laughs loudly as her feet bang against the floor before following her brother into the bathroom to brush their teeth. “Yeah, they’re both awful.”
Steve lightly hits his arm while he and your mother laugh.
Halfway down the stairs, both children gasp in excitement at the sight of their fathers making you grin wide as they jump into their arms.
“Ay, it’s too early for so much love. Love me in like…”, Eddie pauses as he looks at his watch, subtly winking your way when your daughter giggles. “…two hours.”
“Hey after breakfast, why don’t we go to pool and I can show you guys some tricks I learned on the swim team.”
Ozzy’s eyes widen as he claps his hands.
“Yeah! I was thinking…dad…about joining the swim team like you did. I’ve been practicing!”
“No way.”, Steve feigns shock as his own wide eyes shift your way. “Well then let’s finish eating the food grandma made and then you can show us all some of your new moves.”
“I’m surprised with how late you came back, you’re awake enough to do anything.”, your mom addresses you with that faint hint of sarcasm that has your dad rolling his eyes.
“Yeah, Bev, those aren’t insinuations Grandpa needs to hear about at any time of day.”
“What insinuations?”, Molly asks.
“Nothing.”, all five adults respond in unison causing your children to erupt in a fit of giggles.
