FAKEVOX

[Plus-Tech Squeeze Box] (2000)
Plus-Tech are a Japanese Picopop trio (They are a trio, not a duo. Wikipedia is WRONG!!!) who are known for their off the wall music and lively sound.
Plus-Tech Squeeze Box's first album, released in 2000. 'FAKEVOX' is all over the place, It's a kid who cant sit still. Full of wonder and life. High-pitched sounds and upbeat melodies are the backbone of this album. If this Album was food it would be a strawberry sundae. It's hyper sweet, cute and feels like a sugar rush.
(also on a side note. I have noticed that Plus-Tech have been featured a lot in British stuff, for example they have been on the BBC quite a few times and featured in a British Coca-Cola ad. Just thought that was interesting....) anyway on with the review.
Track 1: Channel No.17
"What time is it?!"
Plus-Tech really sets the tone of the album with this intro track. You are hit with all sorts of sounds from VOX samples to bowling balls and carnival sounds. It's fast and alive.
Track 2: early RISER
"Bouncy!"
Track 2 is quintessential 2000's hyper J-pop. This song reminds me so much of the Jet-Set Radio OST and I love it. Plus-Tech create super catchy ear worm songs that play on loop in your mind all day. It's so upbeat you can't even be annoyed at it.
Track 3: A Day In The Radio
"I'm a plus-tech girl friend!"
Track three is more vocal based letting Kamada sing. This is another cute song you can't possibly feel mad when listening to.
Track 4: Test Room
"1,2,3,4. Plus-Tech!"
Test Room is a super bright song. It's fast, lively and experimental. The vocal chop in this song carry it a long way. It's just so satisfyingly to listen to lol.
Track 5: rocket coaster
"Rocket coaster! la, la, la, la-la."
Track 5 is Plus-Tech's most popular track for a reason. It's definitely their most accessible song by far for a normal audience. It's got a nice duet going on, a catchy chorus and a light rock instrumental. Really sweet and cute song.
Track 6: Scene1 - launch a spaceship into space →
Track six is an interlude following the space theme of the album.
Track 7: ☆
"Have you ever met a great astronaut?"
Track six takes us right back into the cutesy vibe with an instrumental that wouldn't be out of place on a Frenesi album, especially with those tom drums and pluck-y melody.
Track 8: White Drops
"fantastic..."
Man, White Drops. This song will always have a special place in my heart. I really do love this song. It's so nostalgic to me. It's so simple yet so affective, It's upbeat, endearing and... idk cozy?
Track 9: MILK TEA
"しまうのさー”
Milk tea is an other nostalgic song for me as I used to listen to it a lot. It's got guitar, synths, vocals and bleeps n bloops. what more can you ask for in a song to be honest?
Track 10: Scene2 - citybilly lived happily after
"BEEEWOOP! FUNNY GUITAR!"
Lots of sounds and a guitar. This song is like if you were at a fair on many, many substances.
Track 11: Sneaker Song!
"Why don't you tell me? hey! you're little rascal!"
Sneaker song goes right back to the hyper sound that the rest of the album follows. Lots of bleeps and gated sounds. This song has more of a pop-rock guitar lean though.
Track 12: clover
"つのまにか降り止んだ雨"
Clover is a great outro because it changes the vibe of the album completely. It is the complete opposite of the rest of the album taking on a more melancholy down-tempo tone. A lot less vocal processing and FX. But the a happy sounding melody comes in creating a bitter sweet end to the album. This song reminds me of looking through old photos. Sad it's over, glad it happened.
Overview: FAKEVOX
FAKEVOX is a great introduction to hyper J-pop and Picopop, if any of this sounds interesting to you I highly recommend this album. It's sugary sweet with a lot of life to it.
Rating: 7.5/10
If there’s any typos or inconsistencies in this review it’s because I can’t be bothered to proof read it.

Tune Up
A short for the robot-fuckers, based on a dream i had last night.
~
Her workspace is pitifully small, more a cubbyhole than a proper access point. You have to kneel down to the floor to see her, twisted up with her knees to her shoulders, arms through the middle, slender fingers tapping away at her console. She's been complaining about claustrophobia, and that's not supposed to happen. So you unplug her network cable and pull her out onto the floor. She sprawls out, clearly grateful to be out of there. She's a strange model. Definitely repurposed from sex work, but the modifications are extensive, and you doubt most people would be interested at this point, what with most of her torso open to the air, giving her better airflow for all of the overclocked processors.
She still has a pretty face. And a clearly functional pussy. Bright blue labia is an interesting choice, and you wonder idly who made it.
You spread out your tools and prepare to start making adjustments, but as soon as you touch her, she's got you flipped over onto your back, straddling your waist and staring right into your eyes. You look to the human techs around you, and none of them comments, except for one who shrugs at you. This is just something she does, evidently. Whatever, you've worked in worse conditions.
You put your hands into her, start opening panels. She puts her hands on you as well, eyes never wavering. The soft pads of her fingertips travel across your face, your neck, shoulders, and pause over both breasts long enough to give your nipples a playful squeeze.
You jump a little, and feel your face grow hot. Is she trying to make this more difficult? Or is she just having fun? You apply a gentle electric current to a troublesome component, and she moans. It's the first sound she's made, and you silently give your compliments to whoever fine tuned her voice box.
You keep working, and every new tool you apply, or component you touch, seems to excite her more. She's grinding into your stomach with that designer pussy, and you can feel how soft and pliant it is. A tiny bit of lubricant leaves a wet spot on your shirt.
It's embarrassing to work with an erection, but you can't really help it. She must have been good at her old job. When you pause to grab a new tool, she abruptly lifts herself up and re-positions, letting her unbutton your pants with unnatural speed. You stop, thinking you should chastise her, tell her to cut it out. But no one here is paying this show the slightest bit of attention. And her hand does feel so good on your cock. So what the hell, if she's gonna have fun with this, you might as well have a little yourself.
She slides her plush blue pussy up against your shaft, and you have to bite your lip to keep from gasping. You keep working, but you can't help a little whimper when she slips you inside. It's warm inside, and wetter than any human you've known. You start to wonder if the client is going to charge you for this, but you're frankly beyond caring.
She works up a rhythm while you try to finish your adjustments, her voice getting louder. One of the techs does take a moment to watch, but you decide you don't mind. It is getting a little bit hard to focus on your task though.
She tries to pin one of your arms to the floor, and you decide she's gotten slightly too unruly. You push your free hand deeper into her mechanical guts and grip her exposed spinal support. You know just where to push your thumb...
She gasps in the way only robots can, full of static and pitch distortion, and you feel massage motors clamp down on your cock. But her fingers loosen, and the strength has gone out of her. Determined to finish, you push yourself up and flip her over. Final adjustments are made. Panels are closed up. And now you are just thrusting into an overstimulated, pliant fuck doll. You can't really justify continuing, seeing as you're on the clock. But how the hell would you ever be able to stop at this point?
That one tech is still watching, and possibly touching herself, you're not sure. You grunt with what you realize is a lot of pent up frustration as you feel yourself getting close to orgasm. Your instinct is to pull out and unload onto her belly, but there is no belly to cum on, and you really do not want to have to do a deep clean of all the components you just tuned. So you let go inside, pumping her as full as you can after years of estrogen treatments, losing your balance as you cum harder than you have in months.
Her arms are there to catch you. She's smiling up at you, satisfied, maybe even just a little bit affectionate. You spend a long moment relaxing into her embrace, regaining your composure. A text notification pops into your peripheral view, and you open it into your left eye screen.
Thanks for the tune up ;)
If only every job was this rewarding.

That time Tech said Wrecker is stupid...
I'm not writing my fic in order and I couldn't wait to share this snippet with y'all!
For context, Tech and Wrecker were born at the same time and are being looked after by a nurse dedicated to enhanced clones.
Baby is Wrecker, Honey / CT-8 is Tech
POV: Nurse Dita (my OC) - first person
Baby sniffs and mumbles something I don’t understand. I rub my thumb on his cheek to catch a big tear rolling down and gently asks him to repeat.
« CT-8 say I’m stupid. »
« That’s a fact, » says his brother, « He hasn’t been able to solve any of the exercices. »
« They’re hard ! »
« Then you need to work harder. »
« Honey, that’s enough, » I interject, harsher than I intended.
Honey opens his mouth but I send him away with Zee. I lift Baby in my arms and he snuggles against my chest. His learning difficulties are not going unnoticed but I wasn’t expecting Honey to be the one pointing it out to him. I rock him around the playroom until I feel his little body relax, then sit him by the windows.
« Are you feeling better ? »
He nods but his bottom lip trembles. I cup his face and peck his forehead.
« Not everything needs to be graded or measured on a scale, you know. Especially intelligence. Honey is very gifted, not everybody has his abilies and that’s okay. You are you, with your own brain that works in its own way. There’s no point in comparing yourself with your brother or anyone else. »
Baby stares at me with big shiny eyes and I pull him into a hug.
« You are a person just like any other. You are worthy, no matter what. »
When I release him, he sucks on his lip and tears still pearl at the corner of his eyes. I lean over and rest my forehead against his.
« I love you, no matter what. »
Baby throws himself at me. I squeeze him tight. On the corner of the room, I see Honey staring at us. I let Baby calm down in my arms, cheer him up with a bottle of blue milk and go see his brother.
Honey is looking at his feet when I kneel down in front of him.
« You hurt your brother’s feeling, » I explain calmly.
« I didn’t mean to. I only said the truth. »
« I believe you. But that kind of truth needs to be told in a more gentle way. »
He shifts his weight from one foot to another, fiddling with the hem of his tunic.
« What if… » he starts then frown.
« Go head, Honey. What’s one your mind ? »
He lifts wet eyes on me, then looks down at his feet.
« He can’t finish the exercises, he can’t even remember our numbers. What if the doctors decommission him because he’s not smart enough ? »
My heart sinks. I put my hands on his arms, trying to catch his eyes.
« Oh, Honey. Is that what’s bothering you ? »
« I don’t want him to- »
His voice breaks, I pull him against me for a quick hug. He doesn’t wiggle out of it for once.
« The Kaminoans aren’t waiting for this kind of performance from Baby. They want him to be strong. You’re the brain and he’s the brawns. You don’t have to worry about it, okay ? »
He stares at me. I know he’s deciding if he can trust my words or not. I smile at him and peck his forehead before pushing him toward his brother.
Honey picks up a plush from one of the boxes and holds it out to his brother’s face. Baby takes it, tucks it under his arm and pulls Honey into a hug. All seems forgotten.

went on a somewhat impromptu jb trip with shoron!! our main goal was to get our nails done at a nail salon somewhere in mount austin (which i wanted to check out the last time i went to jb but didn't manage to squeeze it into the itinerary due to the lack of time). i've never gotten a professional manicure or pedicure before, so i was kinda excited to try~ (๑ ˃́ꇴ˂̀ ๑)
we went in after 2.30 pm?? on saturday. wasn't sure about the crowd on a late weekend afternoon, but it was surprisingly alright. prob helped that it was still cny period, so most ppl would either head to jb early in the morning or they'd just stay in sg.
the salon shoron picked out was called j nailcloset. we didn't have any reservations prior to the visit, but they were able to accommodate us. i got a gradient gel manicure, with colours inspired by a peach!! was about 50++ sgd iirc. not bad. the service was alright too. it kinda hurt when the nail tech was filing my nails though. i forgot to take a photo with shoron's finished nails, but she got a solid colour gel manicure in a pastel yellow shade~ a cute and cheerful choice!
then we went to check out this cute shop that had veggie plushies, and i walked out with a tomato plush keychain and a pair of aesthetic socks. the long coriander plush keychain was tempting ngl bc it looked so ridiculous as a bag charm?? but my loyalty to the tomato aesthetic triumphed in the end.
we also visited a chinese supermarket?? i was super amazed by their candy section. it was both nostalgic and amusing to browse through the selection. wasn't sure if my stomach could handle the foods, so i only picked up a pill-shaped container of peach jelly just bc it was cute heheh.
after the snack shopping, we were pretty hungry bc both of us only had breakfast. we decided to have dinner at eden by wizards, a pretty hyped cafe on social media for its natural, zen garden-esque aesthetic. the salmon (they ran out of ocean trout) mentaiko pasta was niceee. kinda spicy towards the end when it became mostly sauce and very little noodles. got a juice with my meal. tasted healthy and refreshing HAHAH. too bad i couldn't have the ayame matcha latte that shoron recommended!!! it looked so good though.
before we returned to sg, we snuck in one last trip to midvalley mall for some last minute blind box shopping at the gaming impulse store!! bought a kanahei sushi restaurant rement set for chi, and two chiikawa blind boxes!! super satisfied with my octopus usagi (i got the squid version in taiwan previously)!! now i'm just missing octopus hachiware to complete my octo trio. pulled a hachiware charm in the other blind box and gave it to my bro as a souvenir. (ㅎ.ㅎ)
(this video was taken two weeks after the trip btw. my nails have grown out quite a bit. - shio, the chronic backdater)
#log#a group stomped on one of those popper thingies beside us while we were waiting for our cab#and yO THE SOUND WAS SO LOUD#my heart nearly did the flip#and i became momentarily deaf??? wtf

Covert Operations - Chapter 126

SYNOPSIS: Jamie has whisked Claire away to a romantic getaway where she can recover from her incarceration at the hands of Jonathon Randall and the Rising Dragons.
Chapter 125 and all other chapters of this story can be found at …https://sablelab.tumblr.com/covertoperations
THANK YOU for reading and I hope you will enjoy the chapters that are to come over the next couple of weeks as most are Jamie and Claire centred.
CHAPTER 126
Claire gasped as Jamie turned into a remote airport where he’d organised a private Lear jet, for the next leg of their journey. She was gobsmacked at the mode of transportation they were to board as she was sure that they were going to some remote location in Hong Kong for their convalescence. What she thought was going to happen certainly didn’t, as they were not going to some isolated place but were to travel somewhere else only Jamie knew and he’d been very secretive and evasive about their final destination.
“Jamie … Where are we going?” Claire asked when she saw that there was a jet plane waiting for its passengers. “The last time we were on a private jet, we were going to memories suddenly ran through her mind of her mission with Madame Cheung.
Placing his hand on her knee Jamie squeezed her leg and placed a kiss to her cheek. “No Sassenach … ‘tis a surprise. Trust me mo ghràidh. Ye are going to love it.”
“I do trust you Jamie. I’m just inquisitive as to our destination. If we are flying somewhere it can’t be too far away.”
“All in good time Sassenach. Ye shall see.”
Claire's radiant smile spread across her face as she looked away from him and pretended to study the scenery. "I guess I'll have to. But can you give me a little clue as to where you are taking me?”
“We should be there in about twelve hours. That’s all I’m going to say.”
“Twelve hours!” Claire exclaimed in shock. “Jesus H. Roosevelt Christ. Just where are you taking me James Fraser?”
Their teasing interaction had distracted her and when she glanced up, she took better notice of their surroundings at the airstrip. With a wry smile on his face, Jamie drove toward a private hangar where a sleek white Lear Jet sat waiting on the tarmac with engines revving. The name emblazoned on the side of the jet gave Claire no hint as to their destination unfortunately so she could obtain no information there either. James Fraser didn’t say another word, he just merely grinned at her with a mischievous gleam in his eye as he bought the car to a halt. They both got out of the vehicle and Jamie helped his perplexed partner up the short flight of steps into the plane as their luggage was placed in the cargo hold on the plane. Once inside, Claire’s eyes widened in surprise at the luxurious interior of the Lear Jet. Beautiful veneer wood panelling, deluxe leather upholstered seats and amenities with anything you could think of for a long journey were provided. The cabin was very high tech with touch screens indicating the location of the features on the jet and there was even a decent-size galley with an oven and espresso machine. The rear cabin consisted of two recliners and a sofa and a bedroom and bathroom were located to the rear as well.
Her lips parted as a soft exclamation of amazement burst forth as Jamie led her to her plush leather seat in the cabin.
With her hand to her mouth she looked at him, her eyes sparkling with happiness, “Oh, Jamie …”
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Sitting her down comfortably in her seat Jamie then quietly spoke with the pilot as Claire strained to hear what instructions he was giving him. However, his conversation was impossible to hear and she was no further to knowing where the Lear jet was heading.
Damn you James Fraser! How much longer are you going to keep me in suspense?
After a short conversation, Jamie returned to sit beside her and gave her a kiss on her cheek. "Ready Sassenach?" he asked with a teasing grin on his face knowing that Claire was biting at the bit to know their destination.
"No. Not until you tell me where we are going that is going to take twelve hours to get there James Fraser," she replied jutting her chin out at him in feigned defiance.
But Jamie remained nonplussed. He watched Claire in amusement as she then tried her feminine wiles on him to try and change his mind. Her gaze ran seductively down the length of his body as she began to undress him with her eyes before returning to lock with Jamie’s blue eyes that were attuned to what she was doing.
He chuckled at her attempt to garner information as to their destination and with a mischievous twinkle in his eye replied somewhat cryptically, "Somewhere warm." Then taking her hand in his he lightly ran his thumb over her palm. "That's the only clue I'll give ye Sassenach." His piercing, blue eyes watched Claire’s expressive face as anticipation crossed her features coupled with a beaming smile.
"But I don't have anything appropriate to wear in warm weather Jamie. If only you’d said something earlier, I could have packed accordingly," she admonished breathlessly fluttering her eyelashes and biting her bottom lip at him suggestively.
Immune to her feminine wiles Jamie rolled his eyes in mock dismay at her attempt to goad him into telling her where they were bound. "I ken ye'd say that Sassenach. A new wardrobe has been arranged at our destination, but clothes are optional if ye’d rather.”
Claire couldn’t believe the words that had come out of his mouth let alone the seductive look he was giving her.
“Why Mr Fraser. I do declare that you have left me quite flummoxed,” she replied with a rising inflection and an evocative smile.
Jamie raised her hand and kissed the back of her knuckles. “Good.”
His breath was warm against her hand, and it sent delicious sensations up her arm and travelled simultaneously to the pit of her lower abdomen where desire flamed with an ever-increasing intensity.
This is going to be a long flight, Claire thought as she rested her head back against the leather seat and closed her eyes while thoughts of being naked with the virile man beside her filled her mind with delicious possibilities.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Unbeknownst to her, James Alexander Malcolm Mackenzie Fraser had organised a two-week romantic getaway for his Claire in Tropical North Queensland Australia at a private and unique waterfront villa overlooking the Whitsunday Islands, mountains and an aquamarine harbour. It was the ultimate destination accommodation for them to enjoy the privacy, romance and serenity of this beautiful piece of paradise. He thought that not only could they both relax and enjoy the tranquil setting but it was a place as far away from Section One as they could get. They both needed time to recuperate from their wounds and Claire especially needed a peaceful, calm and beautiful setting, in which to erase her demons of what had happened to her at the monastery.
It was also the perfect and tranquil place to base themselves if they wanted to be a normal couple and go exploring all the treasures that the Whitsunday and Great Barrier Reef region had to offer. There were many places to visit and things to do: an abundance of national parks, turtle spotting, sailing, sea kayaking, mountain biking, swimming in the local waterhole at the base of Cedar Falls, rainforest walks, crocodile safaris, as well as enjoying the many cafes and restaurants the area had to offer if they were inclined. But if they didn’t want to leave their villa accommodation they could simply stay home, give each other a massage beside their infinity pool, hop in the outdoor spa, go sailing or just enjoy the view of being in one of the most spectacular locations on the planet.
Their destination was an amazing place in paradise just a short drive away from Airlie beach in a very secluded spot that ticked all the right boxes for Jamie. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for his Sassenach to help her regain that spark that had been severely damaged because of Johnathon Randall and the triad’s interrogation and torture at the monastery. Claire needed to be somewhere as far away from those memories as possible and he knew he had found the right place for her to regain that carefree sprit of the woman who had stolen his heart.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Fortunately, Claire was exhausted and had slept most of the way on their journey to Australia and then on to the Whitsunday Coast Airport situated just outside the town of Proserpine. Jamie picked up a pre-arranged hire Land Rover for the approximate thirty-minute journey to their destination near Airlie Beach the gateway to one of Australia’s most prised natural wonders, the Great Barrier Reef and Whitsunday Islands.
It was not long before he saw the road leading to the property about a half mile off the road and slowed his speed in preparation for the exit. As he veered their vehicle onto an isolated road the wheels sent up clouds of dust around them, partially obscuring the view. Slowing down he steered the SUV along a winding dirt trail caressed by tall gum trees at a more leisurely pace. They travelled for some distance and it seemed they were going deeper and deeper into the tropical rainforest. It was peaceful and quiet out in the open, with the only civilized sound being that of the Land Rover’s engine purring like the sound of a steady heartbeat. Claire could also hear the laughing sound of kookaburras and the screech of the sulphur crested cockatoos as they passed under a canopy of gum trees along the remote track. The sunlight was getting dimmer but they could still see well enough without turning on the SUVs’ lights. Jamie drove along until he came to a clearing in the distance. With the dwelling in sight, he slowed the speed of the land rover as he drove closer. As he approached the clearing, he manoeuvred the vehicle until he pulled the car up to a beautiful waterfront villa nestled into the side of a hill amongst lush vegetation. It was a lovely two-storey modern home made from timber and sandstone with large picturesque windows that overlooked the panoramic sea view.
Claire stared in awe at the beautiful residence located in this stunning setting with oceanic views. It was so lovely and peaceful here; it was certainly a dream location and she just knew that their time in this particular place was going to be wonderful for their sanity and peace of mind. The panorama was spellbinding. Taking in her surroundings she noticed a winding crushed granite path leading up to the front of the villa. Beautiful stone carvings were positioned amongst the foliage and she could see a lovely water fountain nestled amidst the ferns in the garden as well. It had a serene and relaxing Zen ambience about it and Claire immediately fell in love with their accommodation and more in love with James Fraser for bringing her home to Australia and this magical place to recuperate.
It had been such a long journey here and she couldn’t really comprehend fully that Jamie had actually organised this trip and brought her here to the Whitsunday Islands and the Great Barrier Reef. This stoic man who was a cold-blooded killer for Section One had turned into a hopeless romantic just for her and she couldn’t love him any more than she already did. This place of private surroundings and anonymity was just what they needed.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Stopping the vehicle, Jamie removed the key from the SUV’s ignition and got out of the Land Rover in order to help Claire from the passenger’s seat. He opened the door and giving her his hand, he helped her get out of the car. Smiling at his chivalrous gesture Claire leaned towards him and taking his hand in hers she alighted from the SUV. As she did so, Jamie couldn’t help but notice that her eyes had welled up with unshed tears.
“Are ye okay mo nighean donn?” he asked concerned that she was upset.
“Yes … Yes, I’m fine Jamie,” she replied so softly he barely heard her words.
“Then what is it mo ghràidh that has made ye so emotional?”
Claire looked up at his worried face. “Nothing … everything,” she sighed her eyes glistening with tears that started to trickle down her cheek.
Jamie was taken aback not understanding the underlying cause of her tears. Was it just the jet lag kicking in or was it something more? Had Claire been thinking about her incarceration or her time in Med Lab? It could have been a gamut of reasons and he was at a loss for something to say that would ease her distress. However, before he had a chance to say something more Claire spoke again.
Wrapping her arms around his waist she leaned up and kissed him on his lips. “Oh Jamie, this place is perfect. I love it. It’s paradise and I can’t thank you enough for bringing me here.”
“Aye, ‘tis. I’ve been told that the amazing view is constantly changing with the tides, tropical weather and passing boats coming in and out of the harbour with the backdrop of the beautiful mountains.”
“Oooh, maybe we might even be able to catch sight of some sea turtles, whales or dolphins.”
“We just might see some wee beasties Sassenach, maybe even some water horses,” he added with mirth in his voice and reminiscing of the mythical beasts of Scottish folklore tales told to him as a young boy.
“I really don’t think they have water horses in Australia Jamie,” Claire said laughing, her mood decidedly different to when they first arrived.
“Aye, yer probably right mo nighean donn, but nonetheless they have other strange animals here do they not Claire?”
“That is true,” she replied her mind however was again focused on the place where she was now. “It’s beautiful here Jamie and I can’t wait to spend fourteen days with you in this magical setting. It's so stunning that I really won't want to leave.”
His heartbeats quickened as Claire’s arms tightened around him even more and he returned her kiss with one of his own. “I’m glad my love. This place is going to be our sanctuary for two weeks and we can do as much or as little as we want.”
An enigmatic smile suddenly bowed her lips just like it had before on their journey here. Jamie couldn’t quite decipher the look that now crossed her face or what hidden meaning she had attached to his words, but knowing that her tears were happy ones he guessed that she quite liked where he had brought her for their recuperation. He felt good and wondered if indeed her thoughts had actually been of an intimate nature because his thoughts had certainly gone there with his reply. When she spoke, he knew that he was correct in his summation.
“So, clothes are optional then Fraser? Claire whispered softly as her eyes captured his in a penetrating look.
“Aye … Aye … they are Sorcha,” he replied against her lips before giving his Sassenach another penetrating passionate kiss that sent her mind reeling with a myriad of thoughts and possibilities.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Jamie took Claire’s hand entwining his fingers with hers and led her along the meandering gravel path and foliage that stopped at a staircase leading up to the entrance of the waterfront villa. They climbed the stairs hand in hand until they reached the top landing. Standing on the covered decking Claire looked out at the setting and inhaled the fresh, sea air as she waited for Jamie to unlock the door.
Raising their joined hands to his lips he placed a chaste kiss to Claire’s knuckles reluctant to let go, then smiling at her he announced, “Wait here honey while I fetch the key. The real estate agent said he would leave it under the potted plant on the deck.”
There was a stunning multi-coloured “Sassy,” a topical flowering Heliconia psittacorum plant on the deck and lifting the plant up, Jamie found what he was looking for. Placing the key in his hand, he looked at Claire intensely before inserting it in the door. Stepping inside, he held the door ajar for her to preceded him into the house, before closing the door behind them. However, it was more than just the act of shutting a door, it was shutting out their life at Section One, a life they’d left behind for two weeks for one of normality without surveillance. Standing quietly by he watched his love closely waiting for her initial reaction.
As he stood there Jamie’s gaze caressed his Sassenach from the top of her lovely brown hair falling around her shoulders to the tip of her fashionable ballet pumps.
This woman was heaven-sent and he could barely understand how much she had changed his life. Claire Beauchamp was an angel and far too good for Section One. She spread happiness wherever she went despite the fact that she too was a trained killer. Section One had tainted his life until he was but a robotic shell of a man. That was until Claire had come into his life and turned it upside down. It was this angel who had made him realise he was indeed worthy of love and being loved and reciprocating that love in return.
Claire Beauchamp was his lifeline, his soulmate, his reason for existence. His life was forever changed because of her because his Sassenach was his light in the darkness that once ruled his life.
He never tired of casting a surreptitious glance at her when in Section and any clandestine meeting was carefully executed so as not to alert their superiors Operations and Madeline. Claire was unlike any other operative and when she laughed, her whole face lit up and it filled his heart to bursting. Their feelings were suppressed in Section because they were under constant surveillance but Claire still managed to shed light in a world where there was none. Murtagh adored her as too did Fergus because his woman saw the good in people and because of her personality operatives gravitated to her and none more so than those two individuals. He’d observed her talking with Murtagh especially and saw how her eyes would sparkle with the joy of being with people she loved and admired. He knew that Section’s weapons’ expert was a father figure to her and that Claire was like a daughter to him. For Murtagh Fitzgibbons to volunteer to go back into the field was rare, but he did it for his Sugar because she meant the world to him and Murtagh would do anything for her and by association, for him as well.
Operatives in Section admired her and he knew why.
Claire Beauchamp bucked the system but still performed her duties with her conscience still intact. She was everything that others were not because she still had humanity for innocent life but abhorred the evil that people perpetrated. Claire had ideals and a moral compass that was sadly lacking in their leadership at Section One … and because she questioned things and opposed the rules, she was a threat to the order that Madeline and Operations had created with their leadership style.
Jamie reluctantly severed his gaze from his Sassenach and observed her body language as she cast her eyes around the room.
“Why don’t ye sit yerself down on the settee while I go and collect our belongings from the SUV? I won’t be long and then I can show ye around the villa Sassenach.”
“I wonder if there is any whisky? I could do with a drink after our long journey and a bath would be nice too. Is there a bath Jamie?”
“Not sure, but I ken there is a Jacuzzi. Will that do?”
“Hmm, Sounds good. Hurry back Fraser … I just might let you share.”
Giving her an enigmatic smile, Jamie hurried down to the Land Rover and retrieved their suitcases from the boot of the car. Racing up the stairs two at a time he placed their belongings down in the entrance before opening the door once more. He then picked up the suitcases and placed them inside the entrance before closing the door behind them. Jamie then made his way into the lounge area where Claire was waiting for his return.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
“Did ye find any whisky Sassenach?”
“No, but there was a bottle of champagne plus nibbles and cheese. There was also a note addressed to you Jamie.”
“Perhaps we can christen the Jacuzzi with that bottle of bubbly then Sassenach. It will soothe those tired limbs,” he stated seductively with an ulterior meaning underlining his words.
“Oh, that would be nice Jamie but perhaps later,” Claire replied ignoring his innuendo and looking around their magical accommodation, smiling and liking what she saw very much. She glanced Jamie’s way and her face was beaming with delight but her head was swimming with questions.
“How did you find this place?”
Jamie came nearer and nearer to Claire holding her gaze as with each step he took. “I saw it online on an Air B&B site; I noticed it because it was secluded and had a private beach and marina as well as being some distance from a populated area.”
“It’s definitely in a most stunning setting. No wonder you chose to stay here Jamie.”
“I’m so happy that ye love it Sassenach. I thought ye would.”
“Who owns this property?”
“Caitriona and Sam Heughan did …”
He gave her an inscrutable look which only piqued her interest as to why he was hedging his reply. Leaning into her personal space Claire felt that Jamie was going to reveal something significant especially with such a piercing look he was giving her. And he did.
“… but I do now.” Claire’s eyes widened in shock for his answer had caught her by surprise. “Really?” Her flabbergasted answer solicited his next reply. “And I also bought the adjacent property as well because it’s so serene, peaceful and quiet here. It’s private and secluded in a beautiful tropical location Sassenach and a perfect place to forget the world we inhabit as Section One operatives.” Claire looked at Jamie as his words finally seeped into her brain. James Fraser, the cold murderer of Section One had purchased a property that was the complete antithesis of everything that Section stood for. This place really was a refuge away from their constant life under surveillance and where their every move was monitored. This place was an oasis away from the world of espionage and covert operations and was a home where they could just be a normal couple.
In return James Fraser scrutinized the look that passed over her features as his Sassenach contemplated what he had just said. He was eager to get her opinion. “Do ye like it Sassenach?”
Instead of immediately answering Claire walked around the main room they’d entered; she took inventory of what was in the seaside house while processing the information Jamie had just volunteered. Her mind was trying to make sense of the fact that James Alexander Malcolm Mackenzie Fraser had purchased this property. She turned to look at this secretive man who still stood quietly watching her actions with a little satisfied smirk on his face. Jamie gave her a penetrating look trying to gauge her feelings on the matter of the house.
A smile bowed her mouth. “I do like it Jamie.” ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Claire looked at her love with a contemplative look in her eyes trying to work out this enigmatic man. Tilting her head, she perused him from head to toe then ever so slowly she raised her glance to his lean hips before lingering on his muscled chest.
James Fraser’s body was so mighty fine that just looking at him made her heart flutter with wicked thoughts. She knew what Jamie looked like naked and what it felt like to run her hands over his chest. Just the thought of gliding her fingers through his chest hair and over his warm skin sent her heart beating faster.
She inhaled a raspy breath and forced her body to try and stay calm but she was finding it decidedly difficult in his presence.
This man was in her blood and just the way he was looking at her sent shivers down her spine. Her errant thoughts about his hands whilst driving had conjured up way too many ideas of the erotic nature and now just looking at him was having the same effect on her equilibrium. If he continued to provoke her in this way, she wouldn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of avoiding Jamie’s advances particularly in this idyllic setting.
Finally, Claire managed to control her breathing and lifted her gaze to his eyes.
Jamie was watching his love with amusement. Although he had no idea where her thoughts had travelled nevertheless, he could hazard a guess to where they went. The look in her eyes was suddenly dreamy and he was aware that she was going off on one of her tangents yet again. This happened quite a lot when she looked at him. It was as if she was imagining what he looked like naked and he couldn’t deny the feelings that thought gave him. He knew that his Sassenach was mulling over some very racy thoughts in her head. He could tell by her shallow breathing, the flush that hugged her cheeks and especially by the dilated pupils that greeted his scrutiny when she finally had the courage to look at him.
“I’m glad,” he replied biting his tongue to stop himself from laughing out loud at her inner turmoil.
“Come on Fraser show me around before it gets too dark,” was Claire’s daring response despite the fact that her heart was racing and she was fighting inner demons that seemed to mock her foolishness when in this man’s presence.
This time, however, he did laugh and pulled her into his arms.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
“Well then Miss Beauchamp …,” he replied resting his forehead against her as he held her tightly to his chest.
Claire began to melt in his arms and could feel the pounding of his heart muscle against her chest. Jamie too could feel the vibrations of her heart beating in response to their closeness. The sound of air entering and leaving her lungs only exacerbated her shallow breathing and Jamie could feel Claire’s warm breath kiss his cheek as they gazed into each other’s eyes. He wanted nothing more than to kiss his brave woman senseless until she lost all consciousness, but now was not the time. There would be plenty of time for that later. “… perhaps we can start right here.”
“Here?” Her nerves were all off-centre and the way Jamie was holding her close was not making matters any better.
Placing a light kiss to her forehead, he released her from his embrace. “Aye, mo ghràidh. We can start here in the main living room unless … ye would like to start … in the bedroom?”
“Oh? … Okay … Here sounds just fine,” she muttered almost at a loss for words because if innuendo was Jamie’s game then she was in trouble.

The Girl I Thought You Were
Bucky Barnes x Readers
Warnings: swearing, brief death/torture mention, zero knowledge of the legal system
Word Count: 2058
Summary: Scoring a position working for the Avengers reveals a lot more about your past than you anticipated.
A/N: For @sunmoonandbucky‘s 1.5k Constellations Challenge! My prompt was the Legally Blonde line “if you’re going to let one stupid prick ruin your life, you’re not the girl I thought you were.” Post-Endgame, but no one died.
You were lucky, you suppose, with the job you’d managed to find. The snap yanked you out of your senior year of college, and when it spit you back out, you didn’t have a degree or the money to finish it.
A non-descript assistant position wasn’t exactly ideal, but it was something, plus they were offering housing for people who’d been ‘blipped.’
You walk up to the shoddy office building, second guessing yourself at every step, but what other choice did you have? You reach the door and give it a firm tug, stumbling backwards when it doesn’t open as you expect it to. You try a few more times with the same result. Had you gotten the time wrong? The address? What this a set up? Your anxiety spikes, and you begin to back away when an Irish woman’s voice prompts you for your name and appointment time.
You manage your name through chattering teeth. “I-I’m just here for the assistant interview.”
“Ah, yes, Mr. Stark’s 3:00.”
Mr. Stark? As in Tony? It couldn’t be.
The door swings open of its own accord to reveal a completely normal office space.
Completely normal, that is, until you step through the hologram straight into a very high-tech elevator.
You barely have time to register the change before the door slams behind you and the elevator starts to drop.
A few moments later, you’re spit out the other side of the elevator into a surprisingly plush conference room.
“Six months away from graduating top honors in political science and intelligence from Columbia University. What happened?”
You snap from your daze to focus on the voice in front of you. The man who spoke was still covering his face with your file, but you’d recognize his voice anywhere. “You’re Ironman.”
“And you were on course to be recruited by the CIA. What. Happened?”
You cleared your throat in attempt to rid your voice of any nervousness. “The university wouldn’t reinstate my scholarship when I, uh, came back, and I didn’t exactly have the money to finish paying since my accounts had been closed for…five years.” It felt weird saying it out loud.
Tony dropped the file to look you over. “Well that’s shitty.” His blunt choice of words shocks you a bit. “I’ll have to have a word with board about that one.” Tony stands and flicks his wrist, opening up a holographic screen that he starts tapping on. “Don’t worry, kid, you’ll get your degree.”
“Mr. Stark, I don’t understand. Is this part of the interview?”
“Interview?” He shakes his head. “No interview. You have the job,” he says as he rounds the table, “this is more of an…” he gestures vaguely to the room, “orientation.”
“So, am I to be your assistant, Mr. Stark?” you question. You’re still pretty confused considering the situation.
Tony gives you a strange look. “Assistant? Is that what FRIDAY posted?” He huffed a laugh and went back to punching at the hologram. “And you can do away with the formalities, kid, ‘Tony’s fine.”
“I don’t…I don’t understand.”
Tony waved away the floating screen and faced you. “I had FRIDAY mockup an ad to attract you specifically,” he said pointing at you, “which is funny to me ‘cause your resume’s too damn good for an assistant.”
You stiffen. He was right, of course, but your field wanted a degree. “Who’s Friday?”
“My assistant.” He takes a step forward and claps a hand on your shoulder making you jump. “And you’re our new government liaison. Welcome to the Avengers.” He pulls away. “Let me show you to your room.”
The fake office/bunker, it turned out, was temporary while the compound was rebuilt, and being the government liaison basically meant you were the face of the Avengers during negotiations. And no matter what you said, Tony insisted that you were the only person for the job.
You were pretty sure, though, that he was just desperate because the first assignment he gives you is the renegotiation of the Sokovia Accords.
You spend the next month pouring over the original documents and interviewing various Avengers for affidavits.
Steve and Natasha help you outline the full events of the Battle of New York, Wanda gives her own account of the battle with Ultron, and Bucky, poor Bucky, gives you every single detail of how Hydra tortured and brainwashed him.
Clearly, he liked talking to you, though, because after that, he started stopping in pretty regularly, bringing you food, coffee. One time he actually brought a pillow to your office because he caught you asleep on your desk.
A few days later, he brought a blanket.
The day before the hearing, he brings you two takeout boxes and two forks.
“Am I supposed to double fist this orange chicken?” You’re surprised manage humor through your focus.
“Of course not.” He drags a chair from the corner and plops down across from you.
You glace up, brows furrowed. “I’m done with interviews, you know. You don’t have to hang out with me.” You weren’t trying to kick him out or anything, you just didn’t want him to feel obligated.
“Yeah, I know,” he replies with a mouth full of food.
You stab your fork into the chicken. “Why do you keep doing all this?”
“Why do you keep doing all this?” Bucky counters, gesturing to the plethora of notes you have laid out for tomorrow. You’d been studying them since daybreak to make sure it was perfect.
“It’s my job,” you say defensively, shuffling some of the papers out of his reach.
“A job that you’ve repeatedly claimed you’re not qualified for,” he points out.
“I’m just anxious, okay?” You sigh. “I’ve been going over old videos, and there’s this one fucking senator—”
“Who’s not there anymore.” You both know why. He was Hydra.
“Sure, but there’s always going to be more like him.”
“Look, if you’re going to let one stupid prick ruin your life, you’re not the girl I thought you were.”
You look up at him, shocked by his choice of words. “And who, exactly, do you think I am?”
“Why’d you take the job?” It wasn’t a question, really. He believed in you, they all did, he just wanted you to admit it.
“Well,” you have to word it right, “my parents were SHIELD—”
“You’re lying.”
Your eyes pop. He knows. Of course, he knows. Who else does? Tony, probably. Nat, definitely. Columbia, for sure. It was the real reason they took your scholarship, well before Thanos got to you. The history wipe, the name change. None of it could’ve lasted, anyway.
You take a deep breath, eyes down. You’re not sure you can look at him now.
“My parents were Hydra.” You steal a glance. Bucky’s eyes are sympathetic. You wonder if he knew them. “Hardly knew them, though.”
“You grew up in the Red Room.”
You nod. “I escaped when Hydra fell. I wanted to be better. I had to be better.” A tear drips onto the corner of one of your pages, but you can’t bring yourself to care. “But I’m a fucking pariah.”
You feel Bucky slide one of his hands into yours, and you squeeze down, using it as an anchor as you sob. “Me too.”
You stutter and look up at him. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean—” He shakes his head to cut you off. “I just tried to hide it but I couldn’t keep it up I got found out and kicked out –”
As you ramble, you don’t notice Bucky rounding the desk until he wraps his arms around you, effectively shutting you up.
You instinctively reach your arms around his neck, sobbing into his shoulder as you cling to him. “I just wanted to start over.” He lowers the two of you down until you’re practically sitting in his lap, your face still buried in his neck. Bucky smooths his hand over your back as the tears die down.
“You’re gonna get your second chance, doll,” he whispers into your hair, “that’s why you’re here.” Then he adds quietly, “that’s why we’re all here.”
You could almost feel Secretary Ross’s eyes burning a hole into your head, but he’s not your problem at the moment. The panel of senators sitting in front of you were much more important. You’d given them everything, you just hope you can handle whatever they throw back at you.
A few of the committee members that had been convening finally pulled their heads away from each other. One of the women leaned into her mic.
“Miss, is it true you were once part of the Soviet training program ‘The Red Room?’”
Your heart clenched. “Yes, ma’am.”
“And how did you find yourself in this program?” she pressed.
“I don’t see how this is relevant—”
“Just answer the question.”
You take a deep breath and glace over to Bucky. He offers a warm smile, nodding at you to continue. He has faith in you, it’s all you need.
“My parents were members of the shadow organization, Hydra—”
“The Nazi organization—”
“If you would allow me to answer your question, senator,” you fire back, “and if I remember correctly, a number of your colleagues were involved in Hydra as well.”
“They are answering for their crimes—”
“And my parents died for theirs.” A stunned silence fell over the courtroom. “They threw me into the Red Room when I was three years old. Hell bent on turning their own daughter into a weapon.” You were half standing now, but still leaned in on your mic. “They ruined my life. I carry no allegiance to them or the organization that tried to brainwash me and countless others. I was lucky. I escaped and got to go after my second chance. Thanks to the Avengers, we all got a second chance.”
It starts with one person, but it doesn’t take for the entire gallery to erupt into applause. The committee head practically has to yell into his mic about reconvening the next morning. It wasn’t over, but you sure as hell made an impression.
“Don’t you think this celebration is a little pre-mature?” you ask as Tony hands you the glass bottle.
“No way, kid,” he insists, “you earned that beer. You did us proud today.”
You smile and start to turn from the bar but stumble back when you smack straight into a pillar.
“Shit, sorry, you alright?” Oh, okay. Not a pillar. You look up.
“Yeah! Yeah, I’m fine,” you reply, not realizing you still had a hand on Bucky’s chest.
He smiles down at you. “Walk with me?” He offers an elbow.
“Sure.”
The two of you wander the hallways for a while before you stop him. “You knew me didn’t you? In Hydra?”
Bucky parts hips lips for a moment and then nods, and you see his eyes get glassy.
“Bucky, what is it?”
“Nothing, really,” he shakes his head and you can tell he’s fighting tears. “Yeah, I knew you.”
“I didn’t know you though. Bucky why are you crying?”
A tear escapes and he chokes on a sob. “Because I watched you die.”
You feel it then. The echo of the electricity weaving its way into your head, latching onto bits and pieces of memories and frying them into obscurity. The realization hits you, and you grasp at Bucky’s face, forcing him to look you in the eyes. You let the blue run over you until your own tears start to fall. “I didn’t die,” you reassure him, smoothing with wet cheeks with your thumbs.
“They let me think it killed you.”
You choke out a laugh. “You know it takes a hell of a lot more than that to kill me.”
He smiles at that and pulls you a little closer. “You really are the girl I thought you were.”
You take a deep breath and lean in just enough to press you lips to his. Bucky sighs into you and returns the kiss. The two of you stay that way for as long as possible, letting the connection work a balm over the charred parts of your brain until all that was left was the memories of him.
“They made you forget me,” he murmurs against your lips.
“I could never forget you.”

All for Seokjin, Part 2 (Final)

posted on wattpad and this tumblr only.
All for Seokjin part 1, Part 2(Final)
Your attempt to get with Seokjin. college au. Seokjin X Reader.
word count: ~4.5k
W: writing may not be perfect!, but i hope you enjoy it :)
=========================================================
Yes, it’s true. Here you are in the passenger seat while Seokjin drives you to the forest.
You felt like a princess when you took his hand in front of all those people. Seokjin squeezed your hand before scurrying off gleefully to pack a second backpack for you.
You heard snickers in the room, so you quickly dropped your hand to the side when you came back to reality. You stood there for a moment fighting the urge to hug your hand and caress it onto your face.
The room was silent until Yoongi spoke up. Being the one who invited you, he felt responsible for you.
“Hey __-“ He began
But you quickly cut him off not wanting anyone to destroy this perfect (and ridiculous) opportunity.
“This is such a great opportunity for me” You plastered on a grand smile on your face. “I’m so happy”
You didn’t bother to sweep the room knowing they were probably giving you looks that will crush the courage you had in you. You did however hear Taehyung laugh saying, “It’s like a dreams come true!”.
Thankfully Seokjin came out carrying two backpacks. “Here” he said panting, “ the supplies you’ll need are all right there”.
Scoffs, snickers, laughter, whispers, and every other noise that a pack of young adults and a high schooler could do in times of amusement and pity were heard.
And out the door you went with him. You placed the bag on the back seats of his black pickup truck. Expecting him to be watching you, you gracefully sat yourself on the seat and bucked your seatbelt as you imagined a swan would. You turned your head towards him with a small smile.
Even if this “activity” was odd you still had to use this opportunity and milk it for all its worth.
However, Seokjin was happily munching away on a granola bar as he scrolled through his phone.
You felt the vibrations of your phone in your back pocket. Already knowing it was probably everyone telling you to go back, you decided to put your phone. You didn’t need any distractions. You did however pit your location on, you know just in case.
“Alright’’, he said loudly not caring that it was close to midnight by now, “Let’s get going…” he stopped and eyed you warily as you gave him your coy smile”… partner” he hesitated.
Wow, partner? What does that mean? Is that a “Howdy Partner!” or a love partner. Nonetheless you knew you had to respond before you both end up in an awkward silence.
“Yes Seokjin…or err partner” you repeated his nickname and watched as he blushed turning his head. Yeah you did that. You smiled proudly at yourself and counted to ramble on about your interest in extraterrestrial life. Earning a chuckle or two when you mentioned how you first begin your interest after watching History’s channel, Ancient Aliens. He laughed and shook his head as if indicating what an amateur and naïve beginners’ step that was. You continued your monologue and spoke of how you wished they were nice and would teach humanity and help us in advancement. At this Seokjin also laughed and looked at you with a smile on his face.
Were these good signs? you thought to yourself. So you continued to ramble on about peace and prosperity.
Once you’ve both got off the highway and started to drive towards broken paved roads with no streetlights you began to feel uneasy. The darkens suddenly scared you a little. Once you took a breath from your rambling you realized you didn’t even let him say anything besides, “really” and “oh”.
“You know… partner” Seokjin begin eyeing you as he started to slow down on the uneven road path headered towards the forest. “Once we enter the forest you can’t talk anymore. Only speak if It’s necessary, okay?”.
“Okay”, You replied robotically wanting to kick yourself for going off on a nervous rambling. You hoped he didn’t think of you as a narcissist alien amateur.
“How about you?” you asked him in a way to save yourself.
“Me?” Seokjin laughed, “that’s a long story”. He titled his head to the said keeping a smile on his face. You expected him to say more as you continued to stare at him expectantly.
He turned to you Feeling your stare, he turned to you seeing your fixation no his elongated arms on the steering wheel.
Ooh um” he coughed bring your eyes to his face. Seokjin looked back to the road.
“Yes, it’s actually a traumatic experience. I don’t like to talk about it”.
“Oh, oh, yeah, right, you don’t have to tell me” you reassured him. Poor baby.
Seokjin sighed, “Well its more so, I don’t want anyone to deny my experience”.
You looked at him waiting for more.
“People are always trying to write it off that it was something else like sleep paralysis or I don’t know”.
You blinked at him. He peeked at your curious expression.
So, he quickly let out his story that was in fact not long.
“I came out here to camp with my family about 3 years ago. During the night I woke up and I was surrounded by people only they weren’t people. They were aliens, I know it.” his grip tightened on the steering wheel. If it was on any other occasion you knew you would find it extremely hot.
“I want back to sleep or unconsciousness” he continued “and when I woke up, I was back in my tent with my older brother sleeping next to me. It was early morning the sun was just coming out. I couldn’t get up until he woke up. I was scared, honestly, I begged my family for us to go and I told them. They didn’t believe it of course but we left. After that I started my search and research. I know it’s real, but it’s scary. What were they doing to me?”
You didn’t know what to say to him, so you opted with “why are you looking for them?”
“I don’t know…because I’m an idiot, because I’m trying to get over my fear, or maybe its cause I’m trying to prove to myself that it was real” he softly said.
Poor baby.
Poor sweet baby.
He was in a turmoil. And here you are admiring his long eyelashes and pink plushed lips. Do you really deserve him? Yes, you can be supportive.
“You probably think I’m crazy” he turned his head and giving you a hopeless smile. The car stopped.
“Seokjin I don’t know if what you experienced was real or not, I can’t tell you that, but I’ll be here by your side”.
“Thanks partner” he said patting your head.
Your heart fluttered as you felt the palm of his hand pat your head. You felt yourself melt into his touch.
“Let’s go, yeah?” he whispered.
“eah” you reposed in the same tone hoping to keep the seductive and vulnerable vibe going.
“WHOOO” Seokjin suddenly shouted making you jump in your seat.
“LET’S GO” he practically kicked his car door opened and jumped off the truck headed towards the side door to retrieve both your backpacks.
You remained in your seat stunted by the shout and deflated by the disappointment of no romance.
Who knew this guy was dramatic.
“So Seokjin” you said removing your seatbelt. You turned your head around to watch as he draped the backpacks over his body. Aww was he going to carry yours. “what are in those?”
His head shot up, “Just supplies” he mumbled.
“Like what?” you may be in love, but you are no fool.
“You know the essentials’” he shrugged. Noticing that you made no attempt to move he sighed. “Fine”.
He removed both bags and placed them back on the seat. He unzipped the bag and you saw its contents.
Food.
Well not all food but the majority were snacks. You almost gasped with the variety of them.
“this is all food” you stated with wide eyes.
“No” Seokjin defended himself as his ears become red “ there’s also other stuff here, see?” he moved the boxes and plastic wrappers to the side, showing you a blanket, heat packets, flashlights, water, and a laptop.
“That’s it.” you responded. You don’t know what you were expecting, but a knife maybe, probably some expensive tech you never heard about.
“what about the other one?” you asked.
“It’s the same thing” he said “ but if you must look” he unzipped it to reveal more snacks. He twirled the food around and revealed to you a blanket that had alpacas on it, more hot packets, and headphones.
At this you laughed. He was so cute. Seokjin only blushed more.
“Yah, get off now let’s go”.
You came around to his side and found both bags on him.
“Do you want some help?” you asked him.
“I got it” he winked.
He winked at you that’s two times this night.
“So how long do these take” you asked following close behind him.
“I’m only out here for an hour or so”.
You both started walking down the marked trail. Remembering his rules of no talking you reminded silent. Refraining yourself from asking him about the essence of who Seokjin is?
Seokjin walked casually down the trail ever so often picking up pace when he heard a noise or rustle from a bush. He then suddenly turned left, walking off the trail. Surprised and slightly worried you quickly jogged behind him grabbing a hold of his arm.
“Hey Seok-“
“GAHHH” he yelled pulling back from you.
You stared at him wide eyes.
“I’m sorry are you okay”
“You sacred me” he said a hand to his chest looking at you as if you are in the wrong.
“I’m sorry” you repeated. “did you forget I was here?”
“No, no, what” he slurred out his words at a rush to save himself. “Of course, not” he looked away from you “I may be kind of afraid” he confessed “this scary stuff kind of scares me”. He smiled shily at you.
Huh, then how does he do these routinely alien hunting?
As if reading the question on your face he confessed “I usually just get out for a bit until I get too freaked out then I run back to my truck and just wait it out there”.
You looked at him. “OH, right”.
“Sorry” Seokjin said “I’m not that great, huh”. He placed both his hands in his pockets. “I didn’t turn out to be who you thought I was, did I?”
At this you felt blindsided. Who did he think you thought he was? Did he know? Did he catch on to your mini stalker lifestyle and feelings towards him?
“I-I” you gulped like a fish.
He sighed, “not the great handsome alien hunter you expected”.
He took your silence as a cue to begin a monologue.
“I know with my handsome face, that people expect me to become an actor a model- which is what I’m studying for, on the dean’s list and already have been in every production crated by our university and the small theathre in town. I’ve been stopped by so many entertainment agencies. But regardless of that, I-“
Before he could ruin anymore of the image you created of him in your mind you lifted a finger to his lips “Seokjin shhh, be quiet”.
With your finger on his lips seokjin felt the pad linger and slowly drift downwards pulling apart his lips as you arm lost strength. You felt your courage diminish as you felt the smoothness of his plush lips. Lush. Fluff. These are the lips, the face, the puppy eyes that you’ve dreamt about for years.
“Partner” he tried to whisper as your finger still lingered on his lip.
You shuffled closer to Seokjin until you were almost chest to chest. You let your finger trace the outline of his lip. Resting your hand to cup his face.
Your heart was calm. You always imagined your heart to be racing one hundred miles per hour in the moment that you were to kiss Seokjin. You also didn’t expect to be off in the forest somewhere at 12 am looking for aliens. But your heart was calm you felt at peace as if this is where you were supposed to be. In this moment you were focused on Seokjin and Seokjin only. Trying to figure out how his skin feels so smooth and moisturized under your palm. You stared fixed into his eyes. He stared right back.
Soekjin leaned in closer to you as you slowly titled your head up.
You can’t believe your about to kiss him. Is this real life? Is this a dream? How did this even happen?
You felt the warmth of his body all over you and his quick breath (which by the way smelled of mint, is there anything wrong with him?) fawn on your face in a graceful wave of blessings.
You didn’t want to close your eyes, but he did, so you didn’t want to be that wiredo who kept them open. You didn’t know when you’ll have a chance to be this close to him. As you fluttered your eyes and where looming over each other’s lips, you felt Seokjin finally wrap his arms around your waist.
Wow.
This was the moment. Your kiss with Seokjin. And given the fact that he grabbed you would indict that he also wanted to kiss you. All those years of pinning after him. Your plan to befriend his friends to become closer to him all have worked out. It all happened so fast. You thought it’ll be months before you would be in this position, but you wouldn’t change it for a thing. Not when it presented itself before you in the chilly night with the moons light as your backdrop. If kissing him took about a week, imagine marrying him. Within a month you’ll be his wife!
This is it. This is what true love stories, fairytales, miracles, and all of the above are made of.
This moment with him.
With Seokjin, this handsome film and acting student and self-proclaimed alien hunter.
Seokj-
BEEEEEEP! BEEEP BEEP BEEP! WOOOP WOOP!
You both jumped away from each other’s arms. Seokjin yelled once again from the loud sound.
You were in such a shock yourself. You didn’t even have a second to consider blowing your head off for the missed opportunity to kiss Seokjin.
What the hell was going on?
Who dared interrupt your perfect moment.
At this point, fueled by Seokjins yells and trembling body, you grabbed his arm with such ferocity to hid behind some bushes you saw on your right.
Your eyes saw red. You felt absolute rage. Your heaven soon turned into a darkens that angered you. The moonlight now mocked your hopeless attempt.
“H-hey….partner” you finally heard the shaking boy whisper next to you. You turned to look at him. Upon seeing his shaking from and fearful face you pitied him. You placed a hand on his shoulder to calm him.
“Do-yo-you think it’s the aliens?” he asked you with his wide eyes. The eyes that hold his soul.
“I don’t know” you said truthfully. Honestly what was that notice? Was it aliens? You were not ready to face aliens.
“Oh my” Seokjin muttered to himself upon seeing the color drain from your face.
You really hoped it wasn’t, but you remembered your mission was to capture aliens for him.
“Do you want to go see? I think the sound came from over there” you pointed to the direction. Both your heads turned to the sight. Suddenly a mixture of green and purple colors shone from between the trees. Before Seokjin could start yelling again you quickly clamped a hand over his face to muffle the yells that were inevitable going to come out. Seeing that he was frozen in his spot. You shakily reached for the phone in your pocket and began to record.
You almost dropped your phone upon seeing the screen of your phone. The lights were not being captured!
But when you looked up the green and purple were still there.
“Seokjin…Seokjin”, you grabbed onto his arm, “we need to get out of here”
You showed him your phone and the lack of green and purple colors showcasing from the screen.
You watched as Seokjins face morphed into fear.
He grabbed your arm and dragged you back to where he assumed was the trials which had to be opposite from the light source.
It wasn’t. After running plenty away, you both were panting out of breath. You looked at the damage which were your shoes that were filled of dirt and twigs and who knows what else.
“Are you okay?’ he asked you flipping his hair in a way that shouldn’t be considered sexy in this crisis.
“Yeah” you replied looking back “do you think we’re far away?”
“I hope so”
“Do you know where we are?”
“No” he admitted.
You looked at your phone.
“It’s okay, my location still connects”, you said before he could beat himself up even more , “We can get out” you said more to yourself. You started to follow the compass on your maps app trying to find a way out.
Panic must have been shown on your face as Seokjin quickly stopped you from turning your head around and out of your body.
“Let me try, I know the trials of this place” he zoomed into the maps to reveal the trial names.
“Ahh”, he said, “ there. Follow me”.
“Wait”, you called out to him, “give me the bags”
He looked at you with that cute confused look. How can everything about him be so adorable.
“You’ve carried them this whole time, they must be heavy by now”.
“Oh”, he looked down blushing, “I’m okay”.
“No” you protested reaching out to the strap around his chest. At this proximity you were both simultaneously reminded of the kiss that was about to take place. Blush appearing on both your faces you quickly released your hands.
“Please” you said looking back at his face to see him looking at the ground as he played with the dirt with his shoes.
He looked up and gave you a shy smile “okay, but only for a few minutes. Then I’ll get them back”. You nodded happily. Finally, you will be able to help and assist your man.
Once you placed both backpacks around your shoulders you both started to walk towards Seokjins direction.
You gasped when you saw two red marks on both his shoulders that were caused by the backpacks.
“What’s wrong?”, he asked turning to you with fright in his eyes. He looked like he was ready to bolt.
“Nothing” you replied Shaking your head not wanting to alarm him. You’ll deal with it once you were both in the safety of the vehicle.
“I just…wow! This really is heavy”, you commented, “You’re so strong”
Seokjin turned around and laughed “thanks partner!”.
Partner. Once again that word. You started to become suspicious that maybe Seokjin forgot your name.
Are you just becoming paranoid after witnessing an event that your brain is currently in the process of hiding in the depths of your mind?
Does he know your name? You want to hear him say your name.
“Seokjin” you said once again this time walking alongside him. “where do you get partner from?” you feigned a chuckle, “haha I haven’t heard it used unironically before”
“Oh, uhh ummm” Seokijn quickly turned his head so you wouldn’t look at is face or more so that he wouldn’t see your face and feel the guilt.
You placed your hand on his arm to stop him. He halted with his body directed forward.
“Seokjin, do you know my name?”
He sighed and slumped his shoulders.
“No” he whispered, deflated.
Ouch. Humiliation and utter devastation are not strong enough words to describe your feelings at that moment. Here you were thinking Seokjin was calling you “partner” as an endearment but it’s because he forgot your name.
You retracted your hand as if burnt. It hurt.
Before you go into overdrive in your questions and begin to over think and become insecure you simply nodded and continued forward.
“Hey, I’m sorry” Seokjin said catching up to you.
“I-I just didn’t think I’ll see you again, I don’t remember….it just didn’t stick”
Ouch. Ouch. Ouch.
Were you not memorable? He didn’t think he’ll see you again? It didn’t stick?
You would think you would burst into tears, but it felt as if you were pinched back into reality.
You continued walking feeling the anger building inside of you. You didn’t know where you were going, but at this point you didn’t care. You just wanted to get away.
Cursing at yourself you realized you should of just played it cool and not shown how upset you were about it. But it was embarrassing how you took every opportunity to say his name, even to the point of over doing it.
Seokjin walked behind you like a scolded puppy, but you didn’t care you were tired and felt pathetic.
Well at least he had some sense to remain silent. He would occasionally tell you “left” or “right” to direct you out of the forest. Upon reaching the clearing and seeing his truck you abruptly snatched your phone from his hands and stomped to the passenger side. Waiting for him to open it. With another defeated sigh he unlocked the doors and climbed in. You threw the bags to the back waiting for the drive to begin.
You knew you were being rude, but what’s the point, he already indirectly rejected you. (insert sad face).
What you thought could be gold ended up being fool’s gold.
…But wait a minute you thought as you started to go through the day’s events trying to locate the red flags…
“YOU WERE GOING TO KISS ME”. You shouted. Once again giving Seokjin perhaps his 15 scare that night.
You turned to him, glaring at him.
“You were gonna kiss me and you didn’t know my name, because it didn’t stick or was is because you didn’t think you’ll see me again?”
“No, I-I- uhh”
“Oh, I see. You’re a hit it and quit it, got it”.
“No , no, no” Seokjin tried to defend himself as you accuse his gentlemen manners.
He stole glances at your fuming form that was still glaring into him.
“It’s not like that, I just didn’t remember”
You still stayed glaring at his pretty head, damn him for still looking undeniably attractive and cute.
“Listen, it took me years to memorize my government ID number”
You scoffed.
“I’m sorry, I just- I just didn’t remember, I was hoping I’ll hear it somewhere, but it looked like you really liked it when I called you partner so I just left it at that”.
At this you rolled your eyes. No matter what men will be men.
“I really like it” you mimicked him.
Seokjin this time seemed to be getting upset as he huffed and quickly turned the wheel, stopping the car to a halt. Thankfully you were back in the city and pulled a side a large street. At that moment you wished you were wearing peals so you could cutch them at the fierceness and fast turning of the car. Seokjin placed the car in park and turned on the emergency lights.
Oh, this is serious, you thought to yourself as he unbuckled his seat belt so he could turn fully towards you.
“You really like me, don’t you?” Seokjin asked trying to meet your eyes that quickly down casted.
If you were expecting anything it was not that. Pulling over the car and telling you to “get in the back seat now, cause you made Daddy angry” seemed more probable then this detrimental question.
“What do you mean?” you asked him as you nervously clipped the nail polish off your nails.
“When you are me, seeing that look on a person face usually means one thing”
Wait. what. Was he really hyping himself up right now?
You trend you face up to see him sigh and slowly shake his head.
“Just a heads up, pretty people should know when someone likes them, you get the looks all the time, it’s really noticeable when you focus on them”.
The humiliation that you already had seething inside you engulfed into higher flames that turned icy cold.
At this point you were speechless because you didn’t know if you should cry or slap him.
You wanted to look away from his (beautiful) face, but it was hard to look away at the angel of death as he takes away any remaining life that you have left in you.
“Pretty people should know”, he repeated staring straight into your soul, “So tell me, why don’t you know?”
You heart stopped.
“The truth is…I kind of blacked out when you first came, then a second time when you said your name”. Seokjin looked down his face turning red at his confession. He scratched the back of his neck looking forward, straightening his body.
You in turn kept staring at him. Now your heart felt like it was overworking itself. Is he really saying what you think he is saying?
“I didn’t ask you again because I didn’t want to make a bad impression and you honestly looked like you liked “partner” he said the nickname with a little sadness. Now feeling betrayed by the name. “I was going to text Yoongi, for your name but then the whole lights thing happened. I’m sorry”.
You wanted to believe him, but he was an actor and he could be saying all this just to save himself. But why would he care so much? because you were Yoongis friend who was going to start rapping or maybe its cause it past 1 am and you are both stopped at the side of a lonely road in the city.
He sneaked a peak at you and upon seeing absolutely no change from your expression since his confession, he got scared and begin to ramble.
“Honestly, I was about to kiss you. You should know I don’t just kiss anyone. I am exclusive. I’m Kim Seokjin, member of Bangtan and promising actor of our university”
In his ramble you quickly bookmarked the words “member of Bangtan” in your mind for future questioning.
“You should know that a handsome alien hunter like myself wouldn’t kiss someone he didn’t like”.
“Can you stop blaming me for everything” you finally spoke out.
“I’m sorry”, he quickly said, “I’m not good at confessing , I’m sorry, I never done this before”.
You snort, out of everything you believe that for sure.
Should you believe him?, should you trust what he says? I mean it’s just your name, right? This is what you wanted and here he is the main man telling you in his out of touch inexperienced way that he likes you. It would be arrogant for you to write him off for that mistake. And to think that your beauty made him go blank does a lot to your ego. After spending a night with Seokjin, the image that you created in your head of him was completely shattered, the many day dreams you envisioned with him from the little times you’ve seen him and heard of him, explained nothing or showed nothing to who he really is as a person. This person whom you are sitting next to is the real Seokjin, not the idol image you’ve grown to believe and yearn for. This was real, just as much as you are real. And he deserves the respect of you to judge him for who he is and to like him for who he is and not for the idol-like image you made of him in your brain.
Seokjin smiles at you, a last attempt to show you his sincerity. You liked this Kim Seokjin way better than the one you made up in your mind.
“So” you asked placing your hand on his shoulder smiling up a him, “For how long have you liked me?”

TLC Secret Santa 2018!!
@nerdishfeels i finally finished it! here is your gift. it is a kaider fic about them going on a new year’s eve date after a long state dinner. merry christmas and happy new year! enjoy :)
Cinder puffed a strand of hair out of her eyes in annoyance.
“Almost done, Your Majesty," Iko said calmly. She slid the last pin into the elaborate twist. A footman standing next to the two women held out a lacquered box with a small golden clasp. Iko flicked the latch and raised the lid. Gently she lifted the glittering tiara off of its plush, emerald green velvet cushion. “Come to mama," she murmured. The footman closed the box and dismissed himself with a nod.
Cinder straightened her spine in preparation for the headpiece. “Where'd you get this one, Cinder?" Iko asked, admiring the polished diamonds and smooth pearls.
Cinder glanced behind her reflection in the mirror. “Oh, that one was a wedding gift from Queen Camilla. She gave it to me because it's known as the Lotus Flower Tiara, and the lotus is the EC's emblem. It was made in 1923, Second Era.”
“Ooh, vintage!”
“Yeah, the metal scrollwork is admirable, considering the primitive tech and tools they had back in the day.”
“Leave it to you to get your little mechanic brain all wrapped around jewelry.” Iko placed the tiara gently on Cinder’s head, nestling it safely in the stablest parts of her hairstyle. “You look beautiful, Cinder." Iko bent to kiss her friend's cheek.
“Thanks, Iko.” The two turned in unison at a sharp rap on the mahogany door frame.
“Ready to go, gorgeous?" Kai stood effortlessly straight, a dashing figure in his expertly tailored suit. Cinder rose to meet him but he crossed the room first, catching her painted lips in a kiss. Cinder steadied her tiara with one hand and she could feel some of the stress leave her shoulders just knowing her husband would suffer through this horrible function with her. They broke apart and Iko promptly whacked Kai's arm with a makeup brush.
“Kai! Now I have to reapply her lipstick and adjust her hair. And you're already going to be late!” Iko cried.
Kai placed a gentle hand on Cinder's back, sending the same chill down her spine that it had four years ago. “Well, I'm sure the diplomats can wait an extra minute. Take your time, Iko.”
Cinder sat back down as Iko deftly rearranged pins. “Remind me again why we have to go to this dinner, Kai?" Cinder asked, trying to hide a twinge of whine in her voice.
Kai dragged a hand down his face. “It's a tradition. The leaders of Earth get together for dinner every New Year's Eve. According to official media, we talk about world events and general politics. But usually, everyone is so busy stuffing their faces that very little work gets done. Anyway, it's our turn to host this year. It was going to be in Australia, but it turned out they were in the middle of major renovations that they conveniently forgot about until a week ago. Sorry I didn't involve you more.”
“It's ok,” Cinder started. She paused as Iko approached her face with a lip brush. Once her friend-slash-stylist-slash-hair-and-makeup-artist had finished, she continued. “But afterward, I'd like to do something together. Just me and you. Ok?” She gave her lips a final swipe and stood back up again.
“Of course,” Kai said. Cinder could hear the sympathy in his voice. Kai gave a pointed look at Iko as he kissed Cinder’s cheek. The android made a small disapproving noise but said nothing. Kai bent his arm and Cinder slipped her hand into the crook of his elbow. She loved the sureness she felt holding onto him like that, her anchor in a sea of anxieties and mistakes waiting to happen. They glided down the corridors together, followed at a distance by a half-dozen security staff.
When they entered the dining room, the diplomats stood and the kitchen staff bowed their heads. It had taken Cinder months to get used to having that kind of effect when simply moving within her own home. She took a deep breath and forced herself to embody an empress, calling forth her memories of royal training.
As they were led to their seats, Kai grabbed her hand and squeezed it. It’s going to be fine,” he whispered. Cinder nodded briefly and smoothed her blue crepe skirt. That was the other thing she hated about these functions: she and all the other women had to pretend they were comfortable in their tight, movement-obstructing, or generally unpleasant dresses. She made a mental note to consult Iko about it, and that next time she would insist on wearing a suit as well.
As soon as the first course was presented, conversation ceased and each person was focused solely on eating as much food as humanly possible. Cinder spent most of the meal rotating between chicken satay, tofu curry, steamed bok choy, and a variety of sweet buns. Kai immediately dove for his favorites: chili crab, vegetable egg rolls, inarizushi, and gulab jamun.
When the waiters began clearing plates, part of Cinder wished that the dinner had been scheduled for longer so she could have eaten more. That feeling soon faded as various representatives and politicians swarmed around her and Kai to personally wish them a happy new year. There was a sudden lull in activity, and the two young monarchs only needed to exchange one glance before they both made a beeline for the large double doors leading to the main hall. Cinder leaned against the wall, savoring the relative quiet. One of the women guarding the door glanced in Cinder’s direction but showed no reaction other than a slight inclination of her head.
“So, what did you want to do?” Kai asked.
Cinder chewed her lip and let her eyes wander around the hallway. “Um… I don’t know…” She spun a phantom wrench between her fingers as she considered their options. Kai always loved when she did that, when she was so lost in her own thoughts that the rest of reality seemed to vanish. He gazed at her, still in disbelief that he had married the girl of his dreams. He could almost see the literal mechanisms in her head turning.
Abruptly, Cinder looked straight at Kai, eyes bright. “I know! Let’s go watch the lantern lighting in the park.”
Kai looked at his watch. “Cinder, it’s already 11:30. Are you sure we can make it in time?”
“Yes, what are you waiting for? If we run we’ll have time to change clothes.” Without another word, Cinder grinned and took off down the carpeted hall as fast as her pinchy shoes and confining dress would allow. Kai smiled and ran to catch up with her.
Back in her dressing room, Cinder didn’t even stop to breathe. She rifled through her closet in search of her comfiest cargo pants and sweatshirt. She found them quickly and tossed them on the floor. Iko was no doubt at a wild party so Cinder was left to undo her formal outfit by herself. She placed her delicate tiara on her vanity table. A glance at the clock told her that there was no time for her to remove her makeup or take the pins out of her hair. With a shrug she shimmied out of her evening gown and heels, somehow managing to pull on her incognito clothes at the same time. She had to dig deeper in her closet to find her favorite boots, and she tied them sloppily to save time. She threw on her hood and emerged from her room to wait for Kai.
A moment later, his door opened and Cinder saw that he was wearing his old ratty gray hoodie. She smiled and grabbed his hand.
“Come on, we only have fifteen minutes. I want to get as close as we can to the lanterns.” Cinder pushed the door open and ran much faster than before in her well-worn shoes.
They barreled down the hallways, garnering a multitude of stares from very confused staff, but no one tried to stop them. Cinder couldn’t help but laugh as they scrambled down the stairs to the main road. She hadn’t felt this free and spontaneous since before she became Empress. She glanced at Kai, who was smiling just as wide. The two of them raced around corners and dodged several hovers as they navigated the maze of New Beijing’s streets.
Kai paused against a wall a few blocks from the park, panting. “Wait… a second… I need… to catch my breath… Why… did I skip… calisthenics… with Torin every... day as a kid?”
Cinder snorted as she slowed to a stop. She extended a hand to pull him upwards. Kai accepted, but as she began to drag him up, he drew her forward.
“Ahhh!” Cinder gave a yell as she was thrown off balance. Kai grabbed her other arm to keep her from falling and pulled her into a warm embrace.
“Hey, slow down a minute. I just want to hug you. I love you. A lot.”
Cinder gave a relaxed sigh and nodded into his chest. “I love you too.” She tilted her head back to look at him and tugged his head toward hers for a kiss. She glanced to the left when they broke apart, pulling up a small clock in the corner of her vision. 11:52. Her eyes widened. “Kai, we have to go now or we’ll miss it!”
Kai relaxed his grip. Slowly a mischievous smile grew across his face. “Race you!” he cried. He bolted toward the park before Cinder had time to react. He was already half a block away when she shook her head and followed.
Cinder arrived at the park gate just a few seconds after Kai. He grabbed her hand, momentarily shocked by the coldness of the metal, and they walked in together. Somehow they were able to squeeze their way into the third row of the crowd, the unlit lanterns so close that Cinder could spot the soldered joints of the metal frames behind the ornate paper.
The time was 11:58. Kai stood behind Cinder with his arms wrapped around her shoulders. She rested her head on his bicep as she gazed at the decorations surrounding them. She gave a contented sigh and breathed in the cold night air. It was sharp against her skin, refreshingly jarring compared to the consistent temperature in the palace. The savory smell of fried meat was wafting from a nearby restaurant. The aroma mingled with faint smoke from firecrackers that had been lit earlier in the evening, likely to appease children who weren’t allowed to stay up past ten. Midnight drew closer and the volume of the crowd increased steadily.
“Ten,
nine,
eight,
seven,
six,
five,
four,
three,
two,
one! Happy new year!!”
The lights in the lanterns flicked on while the spectators cheered. Cinder turned her head and smiled at Kai before pressing her lips to his. She could already tell that this was going to be a great year.
