An Afternoon with Arts Serrano of One/Zero Design Co.

Got the opportunity to shoot Arts Serrano, the man behind the architecture studio based in Escolta. Known him for years already, but this was the first time I shot him and it’s because of a personal project I’m doing wherein I’m shooting portraits of people and their spaces.

One Zero Design Co. is an architecture studio based in Escolta with a particular interest in creating designs that connect to a relevant context: may it be about the natural setting, heritage and history or the people it should serve.

The team is led by Ar. Arts Serrano of the University of Santo Tomas. One Zero has been awarded in various design competitions: the Clark Green City Master Plan, Metrobank Art and Design Excellence in 2015, and as the overall winner of the Building Accessible and Livable Ecologies design competition for a housing project with PAG-IBIG in the New Clark City called the "Clark Podscapes".

from what i can gather, a podcast came out today where they talk about how 911 is queerbaiting. no idea which one tbh and i can't really be bothered to dig more. the 911 podscape landscape is a wasteland anyway, i tried to listen to some and all the hosts were so unbearably annoying about some topic or another that i gave up.

#throwback to two weekends ago when I was at Bukit Panjang for Arts in Your Neighbourhood (AYN). It is an initiative by the National Arts Council that brings a diverse mix of enriching arts experiences to everyone at various spaces across the island.   I went on a guided tour of The Outer Space with curator ZERO to check out the street art works by four artists Atomick, SYCO, TraseOne and SPAZ. If you are in the area, I hear that the wall murals will still be available during this period for you to enjoy the arts in your alone time.   I also stopped by Podscape by Shophouse & Co, a pop-up recording booth and sound installation that turned recorded conversations, stories, and soundscapes from the Bukit Panjang community into a series of podcasts.   My Saturday morning ended with a one-man theatre performance, A Collection of Things by Issy x Cher, as I went on a journey down memory lane listening to the son of a karung guni man tell his father’s tales of Bukit Panjang.   I know some of us will miss having arts programmes around the island with the tighter measures put in place to fight COVID-19 but let us continue to stay united, practise social responsibility, and overcome this together!
