The still and peacefullness of the ocean in a bay is astounding. The ocean has such violent waves and yet protected behind Vancouver Island, this bay is practically still other than the waves of passing boats. 🌲 Point of Interest 🌲🔭 Telecoping across a smoky English Bay-Burrard Inlet to Point Atkinson in West Vancouver, 6.5 km (4 mi) away. The Point Atkinson Lighthouse catches the first rays of sunlight as a boat exits the inlet on it's way out to the Salish Sea. . Perched on a granite rock and surrounded by 65 acres of virgin forest, the Point Atkinson Lighthouse lets seafarers know they're on their way out to sea. This concrete lighthouse was built in 1912 and declared a National Historic of Canada in 1974. Previously, a wooden lighthouse stood there with an attached keeper's quarters. It was built in 1874. . In the distance and outlined by smoke from the BC/Washington State wildfires, Bowen Island, Gambier Island and a mountain range just north of Port Mellon. .
