Unhinged Take on why Serena (Pokémon XYZ) is insufferable:

Her whole character, and everything she does revolves around Ash, who she is obsessed with. Also she's super weak in battle.

Reason why that's unhinged:

Ash certainly played a part in her development, but the biggest inspiration he truly gives her is to keep going, and that's pretty much it. Serena learned many things from different people, and has more mentor figures in her life than just him. Her Mom, Paulermo, Aria, even Shauna. All her interests are her own as well, she didn't decide to bake, or to dress pretty, or enter showcases because of Ash, she simply is happy if he takes interest in her interests, plus she's a little show off, she enjoys presenting herself. And yeah she has a crush on him, but never to the extend of obsession, only a few blushes here and there, her crush is depicted as pretty normal actually. Furthermore her remembering Ash and his hankerchiev from back then also isn't as obsessive as it's often depicted. She's like 11 at most in the present, and was like 5 at least when she met him, probably even older. It's not that unusual to still remember an important encounter like that, especially when it really wasn't that long ago. Add the fact that she probably didn't have the opportunity to give him his hankerchiev back at camp, and now she even has an item to remember him by. Now continuing with the battle stuff, yes she isn't a battler, but not only does she have to train her Pokémon to use their attacks in very unique and quite powerful ways (Sylveon's Fairy wind was able to carry her, Braixen; Pancham, and Sylveon), she also has been shown to be able to defend herself on her own plenty of times.

Unhinged Take on why Wendy Torrance (The Shining) is insufferable:

"Unfortunately, Miss Duvall plays Wendy Torrance, a strong, intelligent, and resourceful woman in the novel, as a pathetic, whiny ninny most of the time"

Reason why that's unhinged:

Knowledge of how the actress was mistreated aside, Wendy shows completely appropriate emotions for the situation she's in. She is resourceful and manages to escape from a terrifying situation. Hating her for being emotional feels like it's falling into the exact same misogynistic perspective that Jack falls into. It's baffling to me.

Another colored pencil drawing and this time it’s Serena! This is her Pokémon Journeys outfit from JN105. I actually have another one of her though I like the ears here a bit better.

I think the neck, ears, and body to head proportions are definitely wonky here. Notice how I drew the hands behind her back. I don’t feel like drawing hands right now lol.

She's one of my favorite champions (and a cleanly beautiful one!) even if X/Y as games weren't that much good. As much as I have some issues with Pokémon despite probably being my favorite franchise, I really love them and some of them are deeply special to me

Wanted to draw one of my favorite scenes from one of my personal favorite Anipoke episodes! Serena rightfully racking Satoshi over the coals for his behavior, berating him for not acting like himself, it's such an impactful scene. Girlboss moment tbh
