Oh I’m having a great time with my true calem run, just got through shalour city

And while I’ve yet to piece together the aggression chart I will use this as an opening to break down the relationship chart that started as an unholy consequence of me trying to fit calem into anime plots

Starting from the top:

Shauna having feelings for Calem is something that is laid on very thick in the firework scene. Anime wise I almost linked Shauna to Serena too but I ended up backing off the idea because I was lacking evidence.

Tierno, i don’t think i need to explain this much if you’ve watched the anime, his crush on Serena was something he was very open about.

Miette, I actually don’t think she had a thing for Ash, like at all, she does not try to pursue him at all in the anime she just likes to talk about it, it’s a tool to get under Serena’s skin. But that alone would make her a valued piece of the unholy love triangle amalgamation so I added her to the chart.

Calem, specifically, Rival Calem: okay I think I need to explain this one a little more blatantly. Calem’s character arc cannot exist without Serena. His entire journey is dedicated to her mere existence, and pokemon masters really hammers home how important she is to him. She is the blueprint to his every move and step forward because in his mind she deserves better than he can offer so he will fight to be better. The way he talks about her when she isn’t around is unapologetic admiration and I cannot ignore the writing on the wall. He likes her. He’s got it bad.

Serena, specifically anime Serena of course. Her emotional attachment to Ash isn’t just surface level like Tiernos attraction to her, being around Ash gave her the courage to be herself, to stand up to her mom and make her own future, to keep going even when she’s lost and lost hard. She used Ash as a moral compass to keep her head in the game and that only strengthened her connection to him. The end of the series kiss scene was far from unwelcomed, it was over due.

Ash….this boy is oblivious as shit. I’m sorry Serena was not sly nor slick she fumbled at every turn and you STILL didn’t know??? I and from what I can see, many other fans, have come to the only conclusion that Ash just doesn’t do romance. He has ignored so many clear cut love interests and left them one sided because he doesn’t recognize or want romance. He just wants to be the best like no one ever was, love isn’t on his mind, therefore he is clueless to the love induced war going on around him. He is an unintentional ladies man.

And ALLLL of that is just the information i collected from rewatching the whole of X&Y while also replaying through pokemon X and ALSO going through pokemas events. Its all connected, i haven’t done anything else with my free time, its all kalos baby. ALL KALOS.

Sorry to continue with the pokemon train of thought, do you really think pokemon Showcases and Contests are the same? one involves battling while the other one doesnt. I guess just wanna know more of ur thoughts on it since in DP It was cool to see ash and dawn learn from each others battling, while the pokemon showcases seem so different. Also I thought the Showcases were in the game too that u even got a costume pikachu? Thnx for pointing how the Showcases judging system is so rigged >o

No, it’s fine! I have a “non ml talk” tag for a reason; so people can blacklist it if they don’t want to hear me talk about random non-Miraculous stuff.

And yes, the judging system is ABSOLUTELY just-- D:<

(Just a note on Cosplay Pikachu: she’s only used for the contests in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire; showcases themselves aren’t part of the games.)

Anyway, showcases are just watered-down versions of contests, and I say that while knowing that there’s stuff like Poke Puff baking themes and additional challenges and everything.

I like the idea of the humans performing with the Pokemon, and getting them all styled and pretty. I like forcing the contestants into a quiz to prove that they’re knowledgeable with Pokemon.

However, look at the rest from the perspective of the Pokemon themselves. By the show’s logic, any Pokemon can be good if they work hard, right?

Which is cool, I like that! Every Pokemon should be able to have potential!

But... showcases aren’t really like that. Showcases are more specifically geared so that you would have to get certain Pokemon of certain types for specific events. The more specific they make the event (like Rhyhorn Herding), the more they ostracize Pokemon who may not have the capabilities to do that event. Other Pokemon will automatically have the advantage because they have the movesets or body type to work with it.

Look at Poke Puff creation. What if a Pokemon doesn’t have hands and doesn’t have Psychic power? Automatically, they’re at a disadvantage. It’s not like a contest where it’s just the trainer and the Pokemon they chose and they just use the moves that they worked on together.

You can even see it in the show. Specific Pokemon have specific traits that are useful for that contest. It’s a good idea, but it discourages Pokemon diversity and encourages gathering Pokemon of specific types/weights/etcetera. (It’s noticed easiest in Serena’s rival, Miette, where--oh, look at that! Slurpuff, a Pokemon associated with sweets, and Meowstic, a Psychic type!)

Oh, and there’s also the fact that, unlike contests, showcases are girls-only competitions. That’s why contestants get Princess Keys and go onto become Kalos Queen.

Y’know, because the guys aren’t allowed to play dress-up with their Pokemon or dress-up themselves. They’re not allowed to participate in these quizzes or bake Poke Puffs.

Remember back in Gen 3 where May had not one, but two male rivals for contests, one of whom beat her in the Hoenn Grand Festival? Even Dawn still had a male rival in Kenny.

There’s none of that here. It takes the “male trainer does gyms, female trainer does the beauty-focused side thing,” that the show does to an extreme.

Pokemon Next Gen (Cafe Kids): Scottie Shota

Scottie is the older son of Miette and Sawyer. As a kid, Scottie was always studying about Pokemon training and various other subjects he would find interesting. He enjoys reading and writing down what he learned and reviewing them. When he heard from his sister that she was hired to work at a cafe with some other kids, he offered himself to help out with the cafe, after hearing him out Dijon hired him. Scottie takes more after his father than his mother, he’s very studious and careful and he loves to learn about new things and loves to use what he learned in what he does. Similar to Sawyer, Scottie is calm in any situation but at times he can lose his cool if the situation escalates and he can start freaking out and make mistakes, he’s trying to ease out of that habit by looking up different ways to combat stressful situations and improve because of it. He’s great at taking notes and much like his sister and father, he writes down things he does in a little notebook. It’s because of his skills in note-taking and being orderly that he’s the Front End Associate and the cashier at the cafe. He has a bit of a habit of sneaking up behind others, which in turn freaks them out and he’ll always apologize due to him not meaning to frighten anyone he appears behind.

His main colors are green and yellow. From yellow, he’s intelligent and he helps with making new ideas for the cafe such as making themes and events for the cafe on certain days of the week. Yellow also makes him enthusiastic about what he does for his friends, yellow also gets him to feel a little agitated and anxious at times. Yellow represents how he can be critical and how he can analyze any situation and look at any and all sides before he can make a final decision. Yellow also represents how he can be a little impatient and sometimes a little impulsive but it only comes out when he gets in a stressful situation. From green, he’s observant and is a great listener. Green helps him remain calm and it relates to him being family-oriented, as well as how he can be practical and down to earth when he isn’t under pressure. He can also be sympathetic as well as compassionate and nurturing, mostly to his Phantump. Scottie is also loyal and kind, which is represented by green, however, he can be over-cautious at times and sometimes a little envious.

His Pokemon:

Treecko- Treecko is Scottie’s starter Pokemon, he received Treecko from Professor Birch while he as his family was in the Hoenn region to visit family. Scottie picked Treecko because he thought Treecko looked cool and because he saw his father’s Sceptile and thought he would be a good companion. Treecko is cool, calm, and collected, he doesn’t back down from any kind of challenge, even if someone is bigger than him and he fiercely protects Phantump should anyone bothers him or tries to harm him. Treecko has a great sense of right and wrong and will always protect anyone that’s being attacked by a Pokemon or human bigger than them, Scottie understands this and will always train Treecko to combat any kind of weakness they find while in any kind of battle where Treecko is losing. Treecko gets along with Scottie and is always happy to be around him as well as help him with anything. He always relies on his speed and his tail during battle.

Ability is Overgrow.

Moves are Bullet Seed, Energy Ball, Detect, Agility, Giga Drain, Quick Attack, Razor Wind, Magical Leaf, Iron Tail, and Grass Knot.

Phantump- Scottie had found his Phantump when he was in the forest looking for some herbs and berries with the others, he saw Phantump’s pink eyes looking at him behind some bushes, he had ushered him out with one of his sister’s Pokepuffs and he had come out. Phantump then led the group around to the ingredients they were looking for and some extra ingredients as well, when it was time for them to leave Phantump was following them out of the forest until they had reached the cafe when Scottie asked what was up he had wordlessly pressed himself against an empty Pokeball and got caught. Phantump more or less acts like a child. Scottie had noticed that he likes snacks that a kid likes and he prefers human food more than Pokemon food, he also noticed that Phantump will cling to him like how a child will cling to someone they’re close to. Scottie doesn’t mind and gives Phantump the same nurturing feeling a mother gives their child, he also doesn’t mind tending to what Phantump needs. Phantump is also shy and mostly hides behind Scottie when he’s scared or nervous about someone he meets, he’s slowly coming out of his shell. He isn’t much of a battler but he can protect himself just fine.

Ability is Natural Cure.

Moves are Horn Leech, Growth, Will-O-Wisp, Confuse Ray, Hex, Leech Seed, Phantom Force, Rock Slide, Shadow Claw, and Seed Bomb.

Pawniard- Pawniard had been caught by Scottie after a tough battle against his Treecko, Pawniard was impressed by how Treecko was able to keep up and let himself be caught by Scottie. Pawniard is a tough and proud Pokemon, he’ll often sharpen his blades when he isn’t training. While he wasn’t on board with working in a cafe, he soon found enjoyment after learning he could show off his skills in cutting by helping Dill with his job with preparing salads and sandwiches, which lead him to happily wanting to show off what he can do. Pawniard gets along with Treecko, seeing him as is rival and his friend, they’ll always train together when they’re off duty. Pawniard also helps protect Phantump and he’ll help with providing food for Phantump by cutting the crusts off of the sandwiches and cutting them in half for him. Pawniard is also loyal and will fight for his trainer when he’s asked to.

Ability is Defiant.

Moves are Night Slash, Iron Head, Slash, Metal Claw, Aerial Ace, Swords Dance, Magnet Rise, Iron Defense, Foul Play, and Shadow Claw.

Regret from XY series

1. Ash lost his chance for mega evolved pokemon permanently 2. Ash never defeating his main rival Alain. 3. Ash being forced to release his only only equivalent of Mega evolution and fully evolved starter water pokemon to make up for somebody else's mistake 4. Ash being forced to release his only fully evolved pseudo legendary pokemon 5. The only notable person Ash defeats outside gym leader was a newbie trainer. 6. Ash accomplish nothing on Kalos 7. Ash loses the league he should have won to a trainer who did everything wrong and deserved to lose. 8. Miette's potencial as Ash's love interest being screwed to push Serena 9. Shauna and Amelia not able to shine as performer to push Serena. 10. Serena's bland characterization and wasting the potencial she had as a childhood friend. 11. Most blandest group chemistry. 12. Most characters being one dimensional and bland that just follow one trope. 13. Ash being a bland piece of cardboard with no personality.

Standard disclaimer: while I try to stick to anime canon for the most part, I do have a few points of deviation, and one of them is that I write Kalos as the frenchiest version of France imaginable, with all of the Kalos cast being francophones. In some cases, this goes as far as them having heavily accented speech when not speaking “Kalosene,” and in their using character names from the French dub.

“Aren’t they beautiful?” Misty sighed.

Ash rolled his eyes. “Misty, you’ve said that about everything on this trip. And we see stars all the time. OW!” He glared at her as he massaged the spot on his arm where she’d socked him.

“This is different,” she insisted. “You can see different stars and constellations in Kalos. Besides…it’s in Kalos!” She squealed with delight, and practically threw herself back against her towel on the grass.

You’ve been saying that this whole trip too, Ash thought, but he kept his mouth shut; he didn’t need another punch.

“It’s so wonderful here, Ash,” Misty sighed. “Lumiose City, Aquacorde Town, the food, the language…and of course, my new Skrelp!” She giggled, and pulled her newest Pokemon in close to her chest. The Mock Kelp Pokemon gave its own little cry of joy.

“That was pretty amazing, Misy,” said Ash, while Pikachu chirped in agreement. “You really showed that Trainer what happens when you don’t treat your Pokemon right.”

Misty frowned. “I don’t think she learned anything. All I did was get Skrelp away from her.”

“That’s still something, though,” Ash insisted. When Misty still didn’t perk up, he nudged her with his elbow and said, “I bet Brock still would’ve gone crazy over her.”

That got her to smile. “I can hear him now…’these stars are nothing compared to the ones I’ve seen in your eyes.’ He’d have to hope Croagunk stopped him before I did.”

They both laughed, sighed, and looked back up at the stars. It was a little unfair to make fun of Brock like that, Ash supposed; he wouldn’t have kept going after a woman like that when he saw how she treated that Skrelp. And he wasn’t here.

That was still a shame. Ash had hoped this trip would be a great big get-together for all his old traveling buddies. Misty and Brock meeting his Alola class had gone so well; why not try it with everyone? But everyone turned out to be busy with other things. And with Serena still in Hoenn and Clemont and Bonnie tied down at their gym, this had effectively turned into a vacation with just Misty.

Not that Ash was complaining. Who would, about getting to take a trip with their best friend? And even if it got annoying at times, it made Ash happy to see Misty so happy at finally being in Kalos. He could still remember those times, when they first started traveling together, that she gushed about it, and watching her light up at finally being here - and even getting a new Pokemon out of it - was wonderful.

And it wasn’t as if Ash hadn’t seen any of his other friends. Clemont and Bonnie may not have been able to travel, but they said that the Gym was open for visitors at any time. Ash and Misty had bumped into Alain on the way to Aquacorde Town; apparently, he’d made it through the Elite Four after the Lumiose Conference but lost to Diantha. And just that morning, they’d been surprised on the road by Miette.

That was a weird way to start the day, Ash reflected. Not the seeing an old friend part; that was fine. Miette had popped up behind them, just like she always did, and she took his hands in hers as she filled him in on what she’d been up to; winning some baking competitions, giving battling a try, and catching a Misdreavus.

“But w’at ‘ave you been up to Sacha?” she’d asked, looking him over. “You seem so much more energetic zan w’en I saw you last. It makes you seem more handsome.” She’d given him a wink at that point, and Ash laughed and rubbed the back of his head. But Misty didn’t seem to appreciate that. She glared at Miette the whole time, one eyebrow twitching, and it didn’t take long for Miette to notice.

“But your friend ‘ere does not appreciate zat, I theenk,” she’d said, smiling. “Iz zere something wrong with a little sweet talk w’en you greet an old friend, mademoiselle?”

“Keep ‘sweet-talking’ and this could go a whole new direction,” Misty growled, her fists clenched. That just seemed to amuse Miette more, and by the time they said their goodbyes, she went away laughing, while Misty grumbled all the way to the Pokemon Center.

He hadn’t said anything at the time, but Ash thought he knew what that was all about. He probably should have realized it back when they met that girl Macy in Johto, or Melody in the Orange Islands. Lots of things should’ve been enough before that funny way she was acting during that class trip to her gym, he thought. But he knew now. Even in his head, it was hard to think of the words to bring the idea up; this wasn’t his strong suit at all. But Ash knew enough to know what kind of settings Misty would find romantic. And that encounter with Miette gave him an idea…

“Say - Misty?” he said.

“Hmm?”

“Tomorrow - the town we’ll be in has this guy Pierre, and he hosts this dance party…”

My Pokemon

My first pokemon was my Skiddo that I named Beans. They have been by my side for years and has always been my best friend. He has always liked making new friends and helping pokemon we meet on adventures and helping me around the daycare.

My second was my Espurr named Tarot. Beans and I were exploring the Kalos region and had found a lonely Espurr off to the side of the route we were on. They were shy and kept hiding in the bushes but seemed hurt. We wouldn’t leave the area until they came close enough to give them some berries we had been saving. It took nearly a week to gain their trust but as soon as we did, they became a member of our little group without any protest.

The third friend in our little group is my lil buddy Scales the Axew. Scales is the newest addition and was a gift from my parents when she was an egg. She only just hatched a few months ago so she rarely leaves my side and tends to sit on my shoulder while I do work around the daycare.

The latest addition to the family is a small Goomy that follow Beans and I home one night after we had gone on a walk. She are very clingy and shy around other pokemon, but is very sweet. I may only be fostering her, but only time will tell if she stays or not. After a suggestion from my friend Finny, I’ve started calling her Miette.

After my pokemon we have a few that I’m raising currently that have hatched from eggs.

Right now the main group is the Trouble Trio, three Gibles who I have named Spud, Quicksand, and Quake. They ended up with me after their mother laid her eggs at my daycare and left them there after they hatched. I have a soft-spot for baby pokemon and couldn’t let myself let them go into the wild. I’m raising them for now with hopes to get some trainers to adopt them, and maybe keep one around the daycare too, I’m not sure.

After them is a group of 4 vulpix eggs that I’m raising for a good friend, Ward. I haven’t met a vulpix in a long time so I’m really looking forward to seeing the pups hatch, and get them homes too.

Psychic, fairy trainer Miette. I wanted to draw my character Miette as a Pokemon trainer and these are a few of my favorite pokemon. This marks the first time I have done 7 characters on one canvas. One of my goals with this piece was to draw Miette in the style of the official art. This was also a piece I did on stream over at http://www.twitch.tv/leftv thanks to those who hung out while I took on this really big project for me.
