HOW TO MARRY A MILLIONAIRE (Comment épouser un millionnaire) - Jean Negulesco (1953)

Marilyn Monroe in How to Marry a Millionaire (1953). Her character Pola Debevoise is a gold-digging model who, after chasing rich men, finds true love from an an unexpected man whilst on an airplane. A man who prefers her with glasses on as opposed to not, which she is pleasantly surprised at considering she says, “Men arren’t attentive to girls who wear glasses.”
This film followed Niagara and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (released in July) of that year. All three were huge successes. In March 1954, she won the Photoplay magazine award for “Best Actress” for her performance as Pola, as well as Lorelei in Blondes.
Interestingly, in 1957, the film was adapted into a TV show with the same title and starred Lori Nelson, Barbara Eden, and Merry Anders; it ran for two seasons, Lisa Gaye in the second season. 50 years later in 2007, Blossom Films productions, founded by Nicole Kidman, supposedly bought the rights to it.

One Dress a Day Challenge
Day 219
Color: Brown
How to Marry a Millionaire- Marilyn Monroe as Pola Debevoise
This is a fairly new-to-me movie, but I really love the costumes in it!
I think this dress is super cute! Marilyn’s costumes in a lot of her films tended to be more on the sexy side...showing off her legs or her curves...and while this dress does show off her curves, it does so in a more subtle way. The dress is very simple and it lets her beauty and figure speak for itself. I love the asymmetrical fur around the collar, I think it’s the perfect little accent for a very straightforward dress.
