heavily inspired by taylor swift's "you belong with me" summary: you wonder when azriel will notice that you are the one for him. a/n: first fic! i appreciate any support given <3 looking for moots too! please please please, reach out!

"i'll be taking elain to starfall, as my date" azriel proclaimed to the inner circle at dinner, various expressions of surprise crossing rhysand's and cassian's face as they clap their brother on the shoulder. nesta's head whips towards you, eyes watching as your face falls for a split second, before grinning and congratulating the two of them.

"wonderful," you thought to yourself, picking at the food on your plate. you and elain couldn't be more different. she was a gentle and caring being, ever caring about the world around her. you were a rambunctious and outgoing fae, polar opposite of elain. the more you thought about it, the more differences you had with elain.

elain preferred wearing dresses and skirts. you preferred your fighting leathers and simpler outfits.

elain preferred spending her day in the garden, tending to her flowers and plants. you preferred spending the day training with cassian or going out with mor and nesta.

if elain was his type, then how could you ever have a chance with him?

little did you know, rhysand and cassian both gawked at the news azriel revealed. never in a million years did they think that azriel would end up with elain. to be frank, they both thought he would end up with you.

why couldn't he see that he belonged with you?

as the weeks passed, starfall quickly approached. with that, the number of preparations and little tasks around the house grew exponentially. rhysand had assigned you and azriel to hang up decorations around the city, to get the citizens excited for starfall.

"so, are you excited for starfall?" azriel asked with a grin as you walked through the streets of Velaris, looking for places to hand up decorations.

your mind goes blank as you stare at his smile, convinced it could light up the whole town.

"oh, i don't know," you muttered, turning abruptly to walk down a side street to hang up another poster. "i might not go," you admitted, waving your hand out to grab the decorations.

"what? why?" azriel pressed, worried if you were ill or uncomfortable with going. "i'm sure rhysand won't make it too extravagant or anything, (lie)".

"it's not that," you said, sighing as you decide to tell him. "i don't have a date. rhysand has feyre, nesta has cassian, and hell you even have elain. i don't have anyone." you said, taking a breath to continue before he interrupts you.

"so? going to starfall alone is not a crime, nor is it embarassing." he said, staring at you.

"i guess we'll see," you told him as you finish hanging up the decoration. "let's go back to the house?" you ask him, looking up at him.

he raises an eyebrow, not done with the conversation. yet, he dismisses it. "sure, let's fly." he says. he flies you both up to the house before he puts you down. as you turn away, he says "hey," you pause in your tracks, turning around.

"starfall won't be the same without you." he says softly, as you sigh and walk away. you didn't want to go with anyone but him.

a couple of days pass and starfall arrives and so does nesta. she barges into your room to meet your wallowing figure moping in bed.

"get up," she orders, yanking the blankets off your body as you shiver from the sudden cold.

"nestaaaa," you groan, shoving your face in the pillows.

"no more moping around about az. you're gonna get the fuck up, dress up all pretty with me, and we're going to starfall. who knows? maybe he'll recognize that maybe he belongs with you." her voice left no room for argument.

starfall was in full swing by the time you were ready, you and nesta enter through the back door of the house to meet a wonderful set up outside.

"it looks amazing rhys," you say as you approach your high lord, grasping his arm.

"thank you y/n," he says with a look of pure joy as he eyes feyre dancing with mor, "you look lovely," he says.

"you do!" cassian pipes up from behind rhysand, slamming down on his shoulders in surprise. rhysand groans as he startled, smacking cassian upside the head. "just like brothers," you thought.

"az doesn't know what he's missing" rhysand muttered into your mind, your eyes blinking in surprise as you look at him.

"he's an idiot for not seeing the obvious truth in front of him." he says, speaking his thoughts into words.

as you two converse about the subject at hand, azriel eyes you for what seemed like the thousandth time that night. you looked ravishing to him, in your navy blue gown that seemed to compliment your figure perfectly.

"az?" elain asked softly, grabbing at his jaw to turn his head back to her. "you keep looking at rhysand, is everything alright?" she muttered softly, worried.

he blinked rapidly, "oh yeah, everything is fine." he stated as he stood up from his seat. "i'm gonna go get a drink," he told her. elain nodded and turned to another party goer, starting up a conversation with them.

he ventured over to you slyly, "hi y/n." he stated, scaring you.

"az! hi, " you muttered, giggling as his shadows trailed up and down your arms.

"pretty, lovely, gorgeous" they muttered in his ears. he could not help but agree with them.

"care for a dance?" he muttered before he could second guess himself. he watched as disbelief crossed your face before you smiled and nodded, thrusting your drink into cassian's hand. he watched out of the corner of his eye as nesta gave you a thumb's up and a smile, and as rhysand gave you a nod of good luck.

"so, i didn't think you were coming," he started as the music begun, twirling you around effortlessly.

"nesta changed my mind," you admitted with a grin. "i'm glad i came," you said.

"me too," he quickly added. "you look amazing." he said, no trace of joke in his tone.

"oh!" you said, "thank you az, you look lovely as well." he grinned at the compliment, his confidence increasing tenfold as he realized how flustered you were becoming at the whole situation.

suddenly, both of you felt a heavy but comforting presence in your chest. a strong pull of emotions started to bridge the gap between the two of you. you both halted your dance in the middle of the floor, breathing heavily as the mating bond locked into place.

azriel's shadows swirled around the two of you, casting a contrasting haze to the starlight around you.

he opens his mouth to speak, as everything clicks in his brain.

you're the one he's been looking for the whole time. you're the one made for him, literally perfect for him. everything you do compliments his own. no one else shares the same interests as him, no one understands him as well as you do. his humor, his story, his life, it all belonged to you. there was no better match for him, than you.

he kicks himself internally for not figuring it out sooner.

he pulls you into a searing kiss as the stars around you illuminate the sky. cheers from rhysand, cassian, and nesta echo in the background while elain gasps in surprise and shock.

ON FEYSAND’S PLOTLINE IN ACOSF

Let’s be honest for a while, okay?

ACOCF had potential to be SJM’s best book, if not for any other reason then because of the sheer idea of it. Coming-of-age, healing story of the most complex and polarizing character she has ever created set in the time of peace, away from the familiar setting (according to the later changed concept which still remains in the snippet at the end of ACOFAS), development of her arguably most feisty and angsty love story... It could be her absolute trumph. Even with the change to stick to Velaris instead of exploring the Illyrian culture of the Mountains and with the added conflict of the Mortal Queens and Koshei, it still could work quite well. 

It didn’t. For many, many reasons, but the most important one, in my opinion, being the feysand pregnancy plot. 

Nothing about this plotline made sense. Not a single thing. From start to finish, it was an absolute disaster from the character-writing POV, from the narration POV, from every single context of it. It broke the rules of real-life logic, it broke the rules of this fantasy world setting and it completely exposed that Rhysand, while not a bad guy, is a pretty terrible partner, even worse ruler and an absolutely terrible contender for the High King title. 

Let’s break this whole mess down (and expect this post to be mammoth-sized. it’s not my fault, though, write to SJM if you have any complains):

1) Feyre, 21, decides to get pregnant, even though less than a year earlier, she expresses the delight with not being forced to bear children to her new mate and told him herself she wants to wait a while and enjoy her life with him. Feyre decides she wants a baby though and Rhysand goes along with it, even though he is aware how young Feyre is and how hard her life has been up until this point. He wants a baby too much to have an honest discussion with Feyre about it, to stop and wonder what is the reason for her sudden change of heart, to reassure her that they have a lot of time ahead of them and don’t need to rush. No. She mades a sudden decision to have a baby after A YEAR OF MARRIAGE and not much more of being turned fae, JUST AFTER having her whole world put upside down, having received a completely new title and responsibilities, surviving the wat and being mated. Great. 

2) Feyre decides to get pregnant and Rhys goes along with it less than a year after the end of the bloody war. It is politically a delicate time, everyone is still not sure how the balance will shift, some countries don;t want to sign the peace treaty, etc. There are a lot of enemies and a lot of turmoil remaining. But sure. Let’s have a baby. Perfect time to add yet another target, another weakness that can be use by the Mortal Queens, Beron or whatever else with malicious intent towards the Night Court. 

2) Feyre gets pregnant after approximately a year of trying. I know healthy people of reproductive age for whom it takes ages more than this. Fae’s pregnancies are rare af and precious and happen once in a blue moon, but ofc SJM broke the world’s rules for her darling Feyre. And again, for Kallas and Vivianne who are also expecting the baby, even though it has been a maximum of 3 years since they’ve mated. 3 years is also not a particularly long time to try to have a baby for those who have issues with their reproductive systems like Fae women. Thank you, next. 

3) Rhys has unprotected sex with Feyre in her Illyrian form when she conceives, even though he knows full well having a winged baby would kill her. He does it anyway, for shits and giggles apparently. They probably have sex in the sky above Velaris, for all we know. 

4) The baby has wings. Now, the whole explanation with Illyrian wings being bony (bc they resemble bat wings) and Seraphin ones being more flexible (bc they resemble bird ones) is so insanely stupid that it takes around 3 seconds to wikipedia this shit and find out it’s exactly the opposite. But okay, the baby has wings and Feyre will die while giving birth, along with the baby. Madja forbids Feyre from turning into an Illyrian to carry the pregnancy because it MIGHT hurt the baby. Now, remember, Feyre conceived while in Illyrian form and then turned into High Fae. The baby survived it just fine. The baby MIGHT be hurt by Feyre turning .... but it will FOR SURE die if she stays High Fae and Feyre will too. Idk about you, but I would take the risk of MIGHT instead of FOR SURE. Especially when she is already in labour and dying. Cauldron or Nesta or idk who alters Feyre’s pelvis after the baby is cut out of her for no apparent reason but to allow feysand to make exactly the same mistakes later on. How convinient. And Nesta also alters her own pelvis bc god forbid she won’t be able give Cassian babies like the little useful mate she is now. She should’ve probably done it with Elain too, just in case she decides to fuck Az in the future, because fuck consequences and fuck the stakes in the story that make the readers actually CARE about characters bc they know the author may actually kill them and not save their life every fucking time.  

5) I don’t even want to comment on the fact Rhys hid the true danger of this pregnancy for Feyre and their family went along with it. It is absolutely disgusting. And Nesta telling her and that being condemned as the act of the ultimate cruelty which is a final straw to break her self-loathing back.... is abhorrent. It made my sick, actually, phisically sick. There is no justification for it. No at all. And the fact that they did not even consider abortion sends a message that I really don’t want to think too much about it. Feyre was 2 months along when they learned the baby is winged. 2 months. 8 weeks. It wasn’t a baby yet, let’s be honest. They could’ve at least discussed it. She - oh my god, I cannot believe SJM wrote it this way, I’m gonna be sick. 

6) For the entirety of Feyre’s pregnancy, they have no plan to really help her. Labour plan? Haven’t heard if it.  They have money and power and access to the healers of the whole land. And did not figure out how to stop her from bleeding out after a fucking C-section. THIS WORLD HAS MAGIC AND THEY COULDN’T STOP HER FROM BLEEDING OUT AFTER A FUCKING C-SECTION. Didn’t even ask Thesan, the High Lord of Healing, to be present. Cassian had guts hanging out of his stomach and survived. Az was fucking slashed apart in Hybern and survived. But yeah, Feyre was on a brink of death after a C-section. Great, Sarah. Keep it up. Let’s force the thought into young girls’ heads that labour is the most lethal thing ever, why not. 

7) Also, for the entirety of Feyre’s pregnancy, Rhys keeps quiet about this idiotic bargain. He, as far as we know, doesn’t make any plans for the moment when him and Feyre and possibly their baby are dead. If they died and baby survived.. who would take care of it? Does Rhys have a conversation with his family about it? NAH. Doesn’t write any sort of plan how to keep the Court going, doesn’t inform even the closest of his co-workers how they should proceed to act after he’s gone and his and Feyre’s power go to god-knows-who. Their deaths would mean a sure chaos for the weakend and fragile Prythian and the Night Court especially and yet nor Rhys nor Feyre make any sort of preparations for it. Rhys doesn’t tell his brothers or Mor or HIS SECOND IN COMMAND they will all soon have to somehow manage without him. He was about to just leave them to their own devices and told them in the last. possible. moment. 

And this man - this man is, according to Amren, the best candidate to handle the whole country? To unite it? This fool who makes idiotic bargains, who thinks first about his cock and his own selfish desires and considers his subjects and his responsibilities as a High Lord last and least important of all? Who has so much trust in his wife, in his High Lady, the mother of his son that he doesn’t tell her she will almost surely die on a birthing bed because it MAY UPSET HER? 

This plotline was the straw that broke my back. ACOTAR, at it’s heart has always been a ya fantasy with added ‘spice’ and I was willing to bend my critical-thinking skills in many cases and forget and forgive many smaller idiotic issues in this series. But this? It is not idiotic. It is massive and stupid to the point when it becomes insulting to the reader. It was a plot straight out of a bad fanfic, not something that should be in a published book written by someone who writes for a living. You could even argue that Twilight has handled this toxic trope better.  I have wasted my money on this book and thinking about it will always be painful for me. So yeah.

ACOSF could be great. Ended up quite pathetic.

Castaway {ACOTAR/ Chapter 1}

Word Count: 3,001

Summary:  A modern-day University AU, from the A Court of Thorns and Roses universe. All characters belong to Sarah J. Maas. The idea for this fanfic hailed from prompts sent in by Anonymous, and @queen-archeron.

Author’s Note: I want to begin by stating that I am not for Feylin, nor do I support them as a couple. But, as in ACOTAR, it is vital that the story begins with them as a couple. I have been so excited to share this with you, and already can’t wait to share chapter two. As for chapter one, I hope you enjoy. :)

August 16 – It felt like the first time.

My first time having sex was not romantic.

It was horrible.

To say it was awkward would be an understatement. Hell, it would be an improvement.

The only articles of clothing removed were our pants, and my panties, and it took place in the bed of his truck behind his parent’s barn. He kept making uncomfortable grunting noises, and his shoulder kept bumping into my chin.

I think we kissed once during the entire atrocity.

Oh. And he called me Claire.

That’s not my name.

Tonight was different, though. He made me feel like a princess, like every inch of my body was longed for and respected. He took his time with me, and there was nothing awkward about how he touched me, or how he held me, or how he looked at me.

And when he whispered my name, my entire being unraveled.

I won’t be sleeping tonight.

Wide Awake but Lost in a Dream

   September 2 – Move in day

Feyre could hear their voices before she turned the corner, her heart nearly pounding through her chest with every step.

Trailing behind her, Elain was carrying a box full of art magazines and photographs, while Nesta was hauling so many pillows that she couldn’t quite see where she was going. Feyre, on the other hand, only carried her clothes, which she managed to stuff into two old duffle bags that she had managed to save from decaying in her dad’s attic.

“Shouldn’t your new boyfriend be helping?” Nesta mumbled, tripping over her own two feet. “He could probably carry all this himself.”

“He’s moving in today, too,” Feyre proclaimed, defending him, although she did wish he was there with her.

They had been dating for a month, just about, and Feyre had to admit that she was loving the honeymoon stage. They spent hours kissing until their lips became chapped, and holding onto each other until ridiculous hours in the morning. 

They had met at orientation while Feyre was waltzing through the Greek Row booths.

He was there, with his fraternity, watching her move from booth to booth. He was quiet, a little bit awkward with his words, a little bit stiff and short when he spoke, but there was something about him Feyre could not ignore, could not forget.

He was mesmerizing.

Their first date was the next night. 

And they had spent nearly every day together since.

She sure wished he was there, though, helping her move in, to begin this new chapter of her life. She was finally free, gone from the small town an hour away that held her father, the man who was too lazy and too far broken for Feyre, or either of her sisters, to heal. They had been trying for too long. And Feyre was exhausted.

The thought of leaving used to make Feyre feel guilty. She was the only one left, as Nesta had moved away five years before and made a life for herself in the city. And Elain, sweet Elain, had left just a year after to chase her own dream.

Feyre was his last hope, and she had failed him. He doesn’t want to be helped, Nesta would always tell her, and near the end of her time spent under her father’s roof, Feyre was beginning to agree.

You need to make yourself happy. You need to take your own path, Elain would follow, more graciously than their elder sister.

So, she did.

She had applied to the University of Velaris a few months before, and before she could think twice about leaving her little, dinky hometown, and her father, Feyre was moving to the City of Starlight. She couldn’t wait for her first night there, to find out how the city got its nickname.

Soon enough.

“Here,” Feyre halted, Nesta bumping into her back due to her obnoxiously high stack of pillows.

Room 218.

Feyre pushed open the cracked door, to find that the room was already occupied.

And tiny.

Feyre was used to a small bedroom, and not having much, but this was ridiculous.

There were already two girls sitting in the room, watching Feyre and her sisters with curious expressions, and by the time the new three had entered, there was barely any room to move.

The blonde one, whose hair hung in long, loose curls, darted her eyes to Feyre’s middle sister. “Elain?”

Nesta threw her stack of pillows on the last empty bed, which happened to be the top bunk, to Feyre’s dismay, and blinked. “You two know each other?”

“She’s a friend of Azriel’s,” Elain beamed. “Well, family, I should say.”

The two girls hugged as Feyre caught a glimpse of the other female, sitting crossed-legged on the bottom bunk. Her chin length black hair made her look chic paired with her black skinny jeans and short-sleeved, black crop top. Underneath her choppy bangs, there was a glint in her silver eyes that made Feyre feel as if the girl wished to set her on fire. She may have been small, but she had a lot of power dwelling within her small frame. 

Note to self: Watch out for that one. Also, sleep with one eye open. 

“I’m Mor.” It took Feyre a second to realize that the blonde one was speaking to her. “And this is Amren. Looks like we’re your new roommates.”

“Feyre,” she smiled, as good as she could muster. “This is my other sister, Nes –“

“I’ve seen you before.” The other girl, Amren, narrowed her eyes at Feyre.

“Don’t scare her, Amren,” Mor rolled her eyes. “Not yet, anyway. You’ll get used to her creepiness. If you’re like me, you may even become fond of it.”

Mor spoke theatrically. Feyre would bet good money that she was here to pursue the arts. She had the looks, too, as she was as beautiful as any Greek goddess that Feyre had ever attempted to paint.

Maybe Mor would let Feyre paint her, someday, too.

Although beautiful, Mor’s words sent Feyre’s stomach into a knot. These girls were intimidating, and she couldn’t quite put her finger on why.

She wanted to run back home.

“I’ll have to tell Az that you two are roommates,” Elain said, giddily. “He’ll have a field day.”

“Is he helping you set up the store?” Mor asked, all while Amren’s narrowed eyes began to make Feyre sweat.

“You know Azriel,” Elain shrugged, a soft smile gracing her mouth. “With him it’s all or nothing. He helped me start, and now he insists on helping me until it’s finished.”

“Well, he’d do anything for you,” Mor winked.

“Well,” Nesta interrupted, taking a step back toward the door. “We should get going.” She looked to Feyre. “You can take care of yourself. You’re welcome for helping.”

Feyre rolled her eyes. Nesta meant well, she always did, but for Nesta to express her feelings.....Well, she had better luck walking on water than hoping her eldest sister would open up.

Besides, taking care of herself was nothing new. Nesta was right. She could do it, she didn’t need help. She had been doing it for years.

“We love you,” Elain, Nesta’s polar opposite, smiled, and planted a kiss on Feyre’s freckled cheek.

It didn’t calm Feyre down, though. She hadn’t realized how comfortable she was in her little hometown, even if it was less than ideal. She had never left its boarders, not for more than a few hours - not until now.

And the feeling was overwhelming. 

Even more so when ice coated Amren’s tone as she spat, “Shit. You’re Tamlin’s girlfriend, aren’t you?”

  “Do you know a Tamlin?”

Azriel froze from he was standing, hunched over a plastic tub filled with floral skirts. Slowly, he looked up to Elain. “Why do you ask?”

“Whoa.” Elain set down the dress she was about to put on the mannequin. “You got weird. You do know him.”

Azriel didn’t say anything else as he grabbed yet another skirt, and hung it on a plastic hanger, and on the z rack. Then, he repeated, “Why do you ask?”

“Feyre’s other roommate mentioned him. Ah, dang it, what was her name….” Elain shrugged, keeping an eye on Azriel as she continued dressing her plastic person. “Anyway. They’re dating. Feyre and Tamlin, not what’s-her-name and Tamlin. She’s bringing him to dinner on Friday.”

“This Friday?” the words flew out of his mouth, and that mixed with the shadows that swept into his deep, hazel eyes…..

“Talk.” Elain demanded, striding to where he stood, leaving the dress half way on the mannequin standing in the window. “If he’s going to hurt my sister, I need to know.”

“Did Mor say anything? After he was mentioned?”

Elain shook her head. “No….She did seem a bit uncomfortable, though. If there is something wrong with him, you need to tell me now, he –“

Azriel softened, and gave his friend an encouraging smile, although it still didn’t reach his eyes. “Tamlin is….Well, we just….There…..There’s history.”

“Between you and him?” Elain’s eyebrows rose. “Bad history?”

“Between him and my family.”

My family. Azriel had told Elain all about his family. He was abandoned, forced into foster care by the age of five, after seeing far more than any child should. After that, he bounced from foster family to foster family, until he finally got dropped in one that was different. That loved him. That accepted him. That wanted him. There were two other boys there, with the same tanned skin and dark hair as him. It didn’t take long for them to become brothers. A year later, the day after he turned fifteen, a girl with blonde hair came. Morrigan. They have been the only family I have ever known, he had confessed to her.

He loved them more than anything. And the way he said it, between him and my family, Elain was afraid what was coming next.

“Do you care to expand?” Elain pushed, when he was apparently not going to.

Azriel sighed, and let out a soft laugh, breaking the tension if only a little bit. “No, Elain, I don’t. Because this is supposed to be exciting for you, and I will not be the one to bum you out. We can talk about it later. Right now, you have a half nude mannequin in the window and I’m ninety percent sure there is a kid staring at its boob.”

Elain twirled around. Just as he said, a teenage boy was staring at the mannequin, eyeing its chest. “Great.” She threw her hands in the air. “My clientele is going to consist of prepubescent boys.”

Azriel laughed as Elain groaned, running a frustrated hand through her long, dark hair. Again.

She knew it wouldn’t be easy, starting her own business, but Elain had dreamt of it since she was young. She had been saving every penny since she was fifteen, all those years of waiting tables finally paying off. She had bought a small boutique on the downtown strip, just outside of the Rainbow, where the artists liked to play and city-goers went to admire masterpieces. She was supposed to open on Saturday, but they had so much to do. She was lucky she had Azriel, or she would be in the state of full blown panic.

Elain had moved to Velaris four years ago, just after she had turned eighteen. For a while, she lived with Nesta, but once she saved up enough, she moved into her own downtown studio apartment. Azriel lived in the apartment across the hall, and they had instantly hit it off. He was gentle, kind, and genuine in every way.

They had been inseparable ever since.

“Finish putting the dress on,” Azriel offered, “then we’re going to dinner. On me. And you’re going to relax. And maybe even enjoy yourself.”

Despite the stress, Elain smiled. “I can’t say no to that.”

“Good,” he grinned. “Let me grab my wallet and my keys…..Wherever I put them……”

“Try in the back, by the microwave.”

Azriel disappeared and Elain went to tend to her half-nude mannequin. The boy had disappeared, thankfully, but a man had taken his place. He wasn’t staring at the mannequin, which would have been strange, but up at the sign that Azriel had hung that morning. The Fawn.

When he caught Elain watching him, he smiled, and pointed up to the sign.

After clearing her throat, and lifting her chin, Elain stepped out onto the sidewalk, under Velaris’ fading sun. “May I help you?”

The man, not too much older than Elain herself, if she had to guess, had fiery red hair that was piled up in a bun. He was wearing a navy blue, tailored suit, and brown, leather shoes that looked far more expensive than Elain would spend.

He looked handsome, and wealthy, but what really caught her attention was his eyes: soft, golden.

“Sorry,” he apologized, a ginger smile playing on his lips. “I wasn’t aware they were putting a new shop in here so soon.”

“Looks like I bought it at just the right time,” Elain said, suggestively.

This took the stranger by surprise, as if Elain, in her blue jeans and soft pink t-shirt, did not look fit to be the owner of her own boutique. As if noticing her offense, the stranger spoke up. “Oh, no! I wasn’t…..You look so young, is all. To own your own business, that is.”

Elain got that often. She was twenty-three, and perhaps a little young to already be opening The Fawn, but she was talented, and she knew what she wanted. In the words of Azriel: You won’t know if you don’t try. There’s always risks, but I believe in you. “Just because I’m young does not mean I cannot be successful.”

The stranger grinned. “Very well. I like the name. Why The Fawn?”

“Fawns are beautiful, graceful, and gentle,” Elain shrugged. “Everything I want people to see in my designs.”

“You’ve designed everything that you’re selling?”

“Designed and sewed myself,” she confirmed, feeling a smug satisfaction at her words. Her studio apartment looked like a teeny-tiny one-man factory. 

The stranger looked impressed. “I’m Lucien Vanserra.”

And when he held out his hand, she shook it. “Elain Archeron.”

“It is lovely to meet you, Elain Archeron,” Lucien smiled, his hand holding onto hers for a beat longer than normal.

“Lucien!”

His smile faded as a town car pulled up, with the window rolled down, and a man who looked to be the older version of Lucien looking dissatisfied as he yelled out of it.

Elain felt uncomfortable at the man’s stare. He was eyeing her suspiciously, his short, perfectly sculpted red hair in perfect contrast to his brown eyes. “Lucien. It is time to go. We have a meeting in twenty minutes.”

After a deep breath, Lucien turned to Elain one final time. “May I come back later tonight? Will you be here?”

Elain wasn’t sure why, but she nodded. With that, Lucien threw open the passenger side door and sat. Before it was even closed, the car sped off.

Elain jumped when she found Azriel standing behind her, the key to the store in his hand. He handed Elain her bag. “I thought I’d grab this for you, so you wouldn’t have to go to the back. Ready to go?”

She nodded as he locked the door, and handed her the key. His demeanor was different, the sparkle in his eye had gone.

“Az?” Elain reached out to him, and he didn’t pull away as she swept her fingers down his arm. “You okay?”

“Yeah,” he said, and his voice sounded normal, even if his posture had slumped. “I’m just hungry.”

“Okay,” Elain replied, careful not to push him.

Although, she swore he looked different.

Sad.

Disappointed.

  Nesta didn’t handle stress well.

She knew it. Her family knew it. And now everyone she worked with knew it.

And it was only her first night.

“Relax.” Another nurse, Viviane, came up behind her. “You’re doing fine.”

She nodded, even if she felt like a complete failure. She kept walking into the wrong rooms, unsure of where she needed to be. On top of that, she’d almost tripped an elderly man......with his own cane. 

“You’re taking over in room six,” she continued, handing Nesta a clipboard. “He should be set for a while, just keep an eye on his vitals.”

Nesta looked over the information. Car accident. Male. Brown hair. Hazel eyes. Height: 6’1”. Weight: 230 pounds. Twenty-three. Fractured fibula.

With a sigh, Nesta held the clipboard tightly to her side and made her way to room six. It was quiet, all except for the television playing softly in the background. He was asleep.

And, holy gods, he was beautiful.

It looked like he was carved from stone, at least from what Nesta could see past the blue hospital gown. His leg has been casted, and was propped on a pillow while he slept. The narcotics must have kicked in already.

Nesta placed the clipboard silently on the counter before running the water to wash her hands.

“Am I dead?”

Nesta whirled around, hands dripping, taking in the sight of the dreary-eyed patient lying on the cot.

“No,” Nesta said, simply, before grabbing a paper towel from the dispenser. “You’re fine.”

“You’re not very peppy,” he slurred, a yawn escaping him. “For a nurse.”

“Are nurses typically peppy?” Nesta snapped.

The patient just smiled.

Nesta glanced at the clipboard. Cassian. “How are you feeling?”

“Wonderful,” he said, with a chuckle. Then, he turned his head, and noticed her for the first time. “You’re a different nurse.”

Nesta blinked. “Yes.”

“You’re beautiful.”

Nesta cursed herself for blushing.

“Will you marry me?”

Nesta rolled her eyes. “You’ve been given narcotics. Your mind is a little fuzzy. You should be feeling clearer, shortly.”

“I told you,” he whispered. “I feel wonderful.”

“Noted,” Nesta said. “We’re keeping you overnight to make sure everything is in order, and to be sure there is no internal bleeding. It looks like the bruising on your ribs is pretty severe.” I’d like to take a look – no, shut up, Nesta. “You will need someone to come get you and take you home tomorrow. Who would you like us to call? You’re emergency contact is a…..” Nesta flipped through the pages on the clipboard. “Rhysand?”

Cassian gave her a thumbs up. Nesta took that as a go for it. “Hit the red button if you need anything. I’ll be back to check on you after you’ve rested. A doctor will be in to see you soon.”

“You didn’t tell me your name.”

Nesta halted just before she reached the doorway. She turned, just slightly, to look over her shoulder. Cassian was watching her; his eyes having cleared slightly. “Nesta.”

“Nesta,” he repeated, quietly. “It was nice to meet you, Nesta.”

Nesta gave him a nod before stepping into the hallway.

Before she had made it too far, she heard Cassian call after her, “I can’t wait until our wedding!”

It was going to be a long night.

Wow, it's been crazy bunch if days since Thanksgiving. We followed Charlotte, Chris and Forrest, in their RV up to Williams AZ. We stayed at the Grand canyon railroad RV park...basically a paved parking lot. Super cold, but a fun little town with a big emphasis on route 66 stuff...cool old cars, old fashioned diners, etc. The reason we were there was because we were taking the Polar Express to the North Pole. What a hoot...tons of families running around in pajamas..matching, of course, and all for the sake of the little kids. The whole town is decorated and the train station especially. We had hot cocoa, chocolate chip cookies and lots of singing of carols. The North Pole was a spectacular vision from the train windows in the dark cold night...very magical. And as luck would have it, Santa came on board the train and gave each kid a silver sleigh bells. Forrest was a little timid, but clutched his silver bell and had plenty to say the next day. Lots of fun memories for all of us.

As we get ready to celebrate 50 years since man landed Apollo 11 on the Moon this July, I recently had the privilege of visiting a location on Earth that resembles a lunar landing. The White Pocket area of Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs National Monument, a spot that feels out of this world, is nestled between Page, Arizona and Kanab, Utah. It’s guarded by remote, and rugged terrain, so it sees far fewer visitors each year than its neighbors at Zion, Bryce and the Grand Canyon. However, each year its recognition among photographers and adventurers grows.

If you’ve visited Horseshoe Bend, AZ for a sunrise photo facing west you couldn’t miss the Vermilion Cliffs and the Paria Plateau 10 miles in the distance because the first light of sunrise illuminates this elevated, red rock wilderness before anything else.

This 112,500 acre “island in the sky”, as some have referred to it, is accessed from the west and north sides via Kanab and 89A where the dramatic step off becomes invisible once you’re on it.  Stretches of 89A are said to roughly follow the path of early Franciscan explorers, as well as the route taken by early Mormons on their way to be married at the nearest temple.  Once you’re off the pavement, it’s a long trail to reach these relatively small geological masterpieces on primitive paths mostly maintained by usage.

Geologically, White Pocket is one of a kind with its relatively thin, drippy coating of white stone resembling cauliflower or brain matter on the surface–giving rise to the lunar sensation.  Just beneath is the striated, slick rock, sedimentary, Navajo, red

sandstone of varied hardness so common in the area.  What’s uncommon is the well-preserved and chaotic layering where time and clearly violent movement tell the untold, almost photographic, story of what occurred here. Some geologists theorize that the area was created by a massive sand slide during the Jurassic Period, probably triggered by an earthquake, where soft, saturated sediment deep below the surface rapidly descended over a large pond or oasis resulting in unstable pockets of

trapped water and wet sand shifting, burping and bending beneath as if layers of rubber.  As sedimentary layers settled under the weight of the new surface, trapped water bubbled and migrated, forcing its way to different places in volcanic-like movements of soil.  What’s left are a varied and unusual array of hoodoos, fins, cones, ridges and ravines coated in white polygonal shaped icing that at times can resemble marble cake. There is the unmistakable feeling that while the rock was still wet a large hand was sculpting and working it; as if you were dropped inside the deep layered topography of paints—red, orange, yellow, pink, and white– within a Van Gogh painting where heavy-handed brush strokes and the gouges and smears of a palette knife prevailed to create masterful depth.  That’s as close as I can come to describing it.  Hopefully, the photos help.

We learned that the little black pebbles in-between many of the fractured polygonal formations are called Moqui Marbles which are iron oxide concretions that form underground where iron minerals collect in the form of a shell with a sandstone core.  Similar formations were discovered on Mars in 2004 by the Mars Exploration Rover.

Nearby is the more well-known, North Coyote Buttes commonly referred to as, The Wave, where access is limited to 20 visitors a day by lottery, and South Coyote Buttes which requires daily permits and limits, as well–even if you have a guide. (BLM Coyote Buttes Permits)  White Canyon doesn’t require a permit.  The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) oversees all of these areas.

Getting There

I considered trying to access South Coyote Buttes on my own, BLM permits in hand, but was glad I didn’t once I saw the conditions.  The roads are tough and require a true high clearance, 4X4 vehicle.  Your basic AWD, rental vehicle probably won’t cut it in the deep sand, potential deep mud, combined with steep inclines, large rocks and ditches. It’s also easy to forget the elevation because of the plateau.  As with any mountainous region, conditions can change quickly.  I spent most of the day in the area that started out with sunny blue skies, but quickly devolved into a disorienting, extended snow squall.  If you get stranded or stuck you’re not likely to see a passerby until the next day. Ignorance, isolation and preparedness are formidable and the most common predators of visitors, say the locals. Even if you have the proper vehicle and feel comfortable behind the wheel in these conditions, navigating the infrequently marked, dirt trails, from one area to another could be another wheel spinner.

That being said, I can’t imagine how hot and uncomfortable it must be here in the summer months, an added danger for visitors.  To me, March, April, and October are an ideal time to visit for this very reason.  The temperatures can vary wildly but generally remains in a manageable range.  Again, visitors must stay aware of conditions and be prepared for quick changes.

Our Guides and What I Wore?

Witnessing the Native American petroglyphs, abandoned and deteriorating corrals and cabins now protected within this National Monument makes a visitor imagine what life was like for those early inhabitants. Early Native Americans–especially Puebloans– were thought to use the area for refuge while moving from one area to the next.  During the wild, wild, west the formations functioned as hideouts.  The remote, small, wooden structures along the primitive one lane roads are served by the ubiquitous wind mill-powered wells spinning nearby; an ode to turn of the century West. I imagined hearing the squeak of the spinning blades during the still of the night.

We chugged along safe and sound in our large SUVs equipped with satellite phones in case of an emergency.  Getting stuck and having to spend the night out here is a reality for any visitor—no matter how prepared.  Our guides from Dreamland

Goofing around

We were treated to many archeological and geological artifacts throughout the exploration, but reminded not to take souvenirs.

As far as my outwear, I was happy to have many layers to keep myself warm as the temperature fluctuated and then dropped precipitously. During the snow squall the wind was howling and the temperature probably dropped 20˚, or more.  A hard shell is a must to stop the wind and to stay dry.  As a person who can feel cold when the temperature drops below 72˚ F, I am a big proponent of wool base layers, or any base layer for much of the year.

Being comfortable and knowing what you need in terms of layers is a learned skill. (See more specific selections below.) It’s different for each person. If you want to be certain you have the right outerwear, you must do some homework and know what works for you–wool, synthetic, down, fitted or loose, bluesign®, ethically sourced, etc.  I prefer efficient, fitted, lightweight layers that breath and dry quickly, so that I don’t feel restricted by my clothing.  And, always be prepared for the unexpected, whether that’s heat or cold.  As far as shoes are concerned, a hiking shoe for extra traction will be helpful on this mild hiking experience.  You might also want to wear gaiters to keep the sand out of your shoes, but it’s not a necessity.

Trapped Bose–Einstein condensates with quadrupole–quadrupole interactions - IOPscience

1. Introduction Inter-particle interactions in many-body systems play a key role in determining the fundamental properties of the systems. In ultracold atomic gases, neutral atoms interact through the van der Waals force, which can be described by a contact potential characterized by a single s-wave scattering length. Such a simplification results in great success in cold atomic physics.[1] For atoms possessing large magnetic moments, the long-range and anisotropic dipole–dipole interaction (DDI) may become comparable to the contact one, which leads to the dipolar quantum gases.[2] So far, the experimentally realized dipolar systems include the ultracold gases of chromium,[3] dysprosium,[4,5] and erbium[6] atoms. It is also possible to realize dipolar quantum gases with ultracold polar molecules.[7–13] Compared to the short-range and isotropic contact interactions, DDI interaction gives rise to many remarkable phenomena, such as spontaneous demagnetization,[14] d-wave collapse,[15] droplet formation,[16] and Fermi surface deformation.[17] Recently, a new quantum simulation platform based on atoms or molecules with electric quadrupole–quadrupole interaction (QQI) was theoretically proposed.[18–24] The quantum phases of quadrupolar Fermi gases in a two-dimensional (2D) optical lattice[18] and in two coupled one-dimensional (1D) pipes[20] were studied. Lahrz et al. proposed to detect quadrupolar interactions in ultracold Fermi gases via the interaction-induced mean-field shift.[19] For bosonic quadrupolar gases, Li et al. studied 2D lattice solitons with quadrupolar intersite interactions.[21] Lahrz[23] studied roton excitations of 2D quadrupolar Bose–Einstein condensates. Andreev calculated the Bogoliubov spectrum of the Bose–Einstein condensates (BECs) with both dipolar and quadrupolar interactions using non-integral Gross–Pitaevskii equation (GPE).[24] Experimentally, ultracold quadrupolar gases can potentially be realized with alkaline-earth and rare-earth atoms in the metastable 3P2 states[25–33] and homonuclear diatomic molecules.[34–37] In the present work, we explore the ground-state properties through full numerical calculations. In particular, we focus on the static properties, such as the condensate ground-state density profile and its stability. We also propose a scheme to quantitatively characterize the deformation of the condensate induced by the QQI. It is shown that, compared to the dipolar interaction, the quadrupole–quadrupole interaction can only induce a much smaller deformation due to its complicated angular dependence and short-range character. This paper is organized as follows. In Section 2, we give a brief introduction about the QQI. The formulation for the quadrupolar condensates is presented in Section 3. We then explore the ground-state properties in Section 4, with particular attention paid on the deformation and stability of the quadrupolar condensates. Finally, we conclude in Section 5. 2. Quadrupole–quadrupole interactions Here, we give a brief introduction about the QQI. As an example, we consider the classical quadrupole moment of a molecule which is described by a traceless symmetric tensor where α,β = x,y,z, (ax,ay,az) is the Cartesian coordinates of the a-th particle in the molecule, and ea is its charge. Compared to a dipole moment (a vector described by a magnitude and two polar angles), the description of a general quadrupole requires five numbers. However, the situation is greatly simplified for linear molecules or symmetric tops because there is only one independent nonzero component. Specifically, in a coordinate system with the z axis being along the molecular axis, such a molecule has Θzz = Θ, , and Θαβ = 0 (α ≠ β). After being transferred to a space-fixed coordinate system, the components of the quadrupole moment can then be expressed as where is a unit vector in the direction of the molecular axis. For two quadrupoles Θ1 and Θ2 with two molecular axes being along and , respectively, the QQI is[38] where r = |r|, , and ε0 is the vacuum permittivity. To further simplify the QQI, we assume that all particles posses the same quadrapole moment Θ and molecular axes are polarized along the z axis by an electric field gradient.[21] The QQI then reduces to where θ is the polar angle of r and is the spherical harmonic. In Fig. 1, we plot the angular dependence of Vqq(r). As can be seen, the QQI interaction is repulsive along both axial (θ = 0) and radial (θ = π/2) directions and it is most attractive along θ θm ≡ 49.1°. Compared to the dipolar interaction, the angular dependence of the quadrupolar interaction is more complicated. Moreover, the 1/r5 dependence on the inter-particle distance indicates that the QQI is a short-range interaction, while the DDI is a long-range one. It should be noted that, from the quantum mechanical point of view, because the quadrupole moment operator is of even parity, an atom with definite angular momentum quantum number J and magnetic quantum number M may carry a nonzero quadrupole moment. Consequently, one may effectively align the quadrupole moment with lights or magnetic fields to prepare the atoms in a particular angular momentum eigenstate, |J,M, or their superposition.[18,19] 3. Formulation We consider a trapped ultracold gas of N linear Bose molecules. In addition to the QQI [Eq. (4)] that was introduced in Section 2, we assume that molecules also interact via the contact interaction where a0 is the s-wave scattering length and m is the mass of the molecules. The total interaction potential then becomes The confining harmonic potential is assumed to be axially symmetric, i.e., where ω⊥ and ωz are the radial and axial trap frequencies, respectively. For convenience, we assume that the geometric average of the trap frequencies is constant. Consequently, the external trap is expressed as where λ = ωz/ω⊥ is the trap aspect ratio. Within the mean-field theory, a quadrupolar BEC is described by the condensate wave function Ψ(r,t) which satisfies the Gross–Pitaevskii equation (GPE) where , , and g0 and gq characterize the strength of the contact and quadrupolar interactions, respectively. Here, for simplicity, we have introduced the dimensionless units: for length, ωho for energy, for time, and for wave function. Consequently, , , g0 = 4πNa0/aho, gq = NΘ2/, and are all dimensionless quantities. The rescaled wave function is now normalized to unit, i.e., . From the dimensionless equation (9), it can be seen that the free parameters of the system are the trap aspect ratio λ, the contact interaction strength g0, and the quadrupolar interaction strength gq. Given that we shall only deal with the dimensionless quantities from now on, the "bar" over all variables will be dropped for convenience. The ground-state wave function can be obtained by numerically evolving Eq. (9) in imaginary time. The only numerical difficulty lies at the evaluation of the mean-field quadrupolar potential Similar to the dipolar gases, can be conveniently evaluated in the momentum space by using the convolution theorem, i.e., where and denote the Fourier and inverse Fourier transforms, respectively. Making use of the partial wave expansion , it can be easily shown that where k = |k| and . Numerically, the evaluation of can be performed using the fast Fourier transform. Finally, we fix the interaction parameters based on realistic systems. Since the s-wave scattering length is easily tunable through Feshbach resonance, here we shall only focus on the quadrupolar interaction strength gq. The quadrupole moments of the metastable alkaline-earth and rare-earth atoms,[39–43] and the ground-state homonuclear diatomic molecules[44] can be calculated theoretically. In particular, for the Yb atom and homonuclear molecules, the quadrupole moment can be as large as 30 a.u.[43,44] Therefore, for a typical configuration with N = 104, Θ = 20 a.u., ωho = (2π) 1000 Hz, and m = 150 amu, we find gq ≈ 66. As will be shown below, this QQI strength is large enough for experimental observations of the quadrupolar effects. 4. Results In this section, we investigate ground-state properties of the quadrupolar condensates. To easily identify the quadrupolar effects, we will focus on pure quadrupolar condensates by letting g0 = 0. This reduces the control parameters to λ and gq. We remark that, in the presence of the contact interaction, the results presented below remain quantitatively valid as long as gq g0. Since the QQI is partially attractive, stability is a particular important issue for the system. Numerically, it is found that, for a given λ, the condensate always becomes unstable when gq exceeds a threshold value . In Fig. 2(a), we map out the stability diagram of a quadrupolar condensate on the (λ,gq) parameter space, in which the solid line shows the critical QQI strength . The stability of a quadrupolar condensate strongly depends on the trap geometry. In fact, it becomes more stable for both highly oblate and elongated traps. This observation is in agreement with the angular distribution of the QQI shown in Fig. 1, as in both cases, the overall QQI is repulsive. To gain more insight into the stability of the quadrupolar condensates, we consider a homogeneous quadrupolar condensate, for which the dispersion relation of the collective excitations is[23] where n is the density of the gas and all quantities are in dimensionless form under the units that were previously defined. Then, by noting that the minimum value of is , equation (13) leads to an analytical expression of the critical QQI strength which suggests that a homogeneous condensate becomes unstable when . The dashed line in Fig. 2(a) represents the critical QQI strength . Here, for a given λ, the density n in Eq. (14) is taken as the numerically obtained peak condensate density corresponding to the parameters (λ,gq) on the solid line of Fig. 2(a). As can be seen, there is only a small discrepancy between the analytic and numerical stability boundaries. The inequality equation (14) underestimates the critical QQI strength because the zero-point energy in the trapping potential is neglected when we use the homogeneous result for the dispersion relation. We now turn to study how the QQI deforms the condensates. Compared to dipolar gases whose deformation is essentially characterized by a single parameter, the condensate aspect ratio,[45,46] the situation for quadrupolar condensate is more complicate. Because it is easier to visualize the deformation if the trapping potential is isotropic, we need to rescale the coordinates such that the isodensity surface of the condensate is a sphere in the absence of the QQI. For this purpose, we note that the condensate wave function at gq = 0, can be transformed into a spherically symmetric form by rescaling the coordinates according to , , and . This inspires us to consider the condensate density in the rescaled coordinates, i.e., In Figs. 2(b)–2(d), we present the contour plots of under three different pairs of parameters. Careful examination of these contour lines reveals that the condensate is stretched mainly along the radial and axial directions for λ = 1/8 and 8, respectively. While for λ = 1, the condensate is stretched roughly along the direction that is most attractive for the QQI. To characterize the deformation quantitatively, we expand at a given radius into where are the spherical coordinates for , βℓμ are the deformation parameters, and n0 is determined by . In this work, is so chosen that n0 is half of the peak condensate density. We note that because the ground-state wave function is axially symmetric, βℓμ is nonzero only if μ = 0. Figures 3(a)–3(c) show the gq dependence of the deformation parameters βℓ0 for ℓ = 2, 4, and 6 and for three different λ's. In all three cases, β60 are negligibly small. Furthermore, β20 dominates in highly anisotropic traps and β40 gives the largest contribution in isotropic potential, which is in agreement with the observation in Fig. 2. To understand these results, we express the angular dependence of the QQI, Y40(θ,), in the rescaled coordinates In Fig. 3(d), we plot for different λ's. As can be seen, for λ = 1/8 and 8 the most attractive direction is shifted to and 0.12π, respectively. Therefore, one can naturally observe that the condensates are stretched along the radial and axial directions for λ = 1/8 and 8, respectively. We note that, compared to DDI, the deformation induced by QQI is much smaller. This can be attributed to the two features of the QQI. The complicated angular distribution of the QQI makes it difficult to induce a global deformation. Moreover, the short-ranged feature makes the condensate prone to collapse. Therefore, the strong interaction regime that may be required to generate large deformation is inaccessible. In Figs. 4(4) and 4(b), we plot the gq dependence of the QQI energy, and the peak condensate density, np, respectively. As can be seen, the angular distribution of the density in an isotropic potential always makes the overall QQI attractive such that Eqq remains negative and np increases monotonically with gq. Meanwhile, in highly anisotropic potentials, the angular dependence of the density is mainly determined by the trap, which, for both elongate and oblate traps, leads to overall repulsive QQI. Consequently, the peak density decreases with growing QQI strength in the small gq region. For large gq close to the stability boundary, the gq dependence of nq depends on the value of λ, which may exhibit distinct tendency. 5. Conclusion In conclusion, we have studied the ground-state properties of a trapped quadrupolar BEC. For the geometries of the ground states, we have quantitatively characterized different components of the deformation induced by QQI. In addition, we map out the stability diagram on the (λ,gq) parameter plane. Finally, we point out that the QQI interaction strength required to induce the quadrupolar collapses is in principle accessible in, for example, a metastable Yb atom or homonuclear diatomic molecules, albeit the experimental realization of BECs of those atoms or molecules still remains challenging. But it is not that sappy as we would think, with a brilliant cast of British actors! Another all-time favourite in this „category” is The Holiday. Azért csodálatos ez a film, mert a küszködő házaspár egymás iránti szeretete és tisztelete, a gyermekek szívmelengető szerelme, egy veszteség utáni reménysugár egy új kapcsolattal és a befolyásos emberrel való tiltott románc mind párhuzamosan jelenik meg ebben a filmben. De korántsem annyira csöpögősen, mint azt gondolnánk, egy fantasztikus brit színészi felhozatallal! A másik örök kedvenc ebben a kategóriában a Holiday. És persze vannak olyan filmek is, amelyek nem feltétlenül a karácsonyról szólnak, mégis hangulatuk miatt – vagy a rengeteg hó következtében – kedvencekké, minden évben megnézendő alapdarabokká nőtték ki magukat. Ilyen a Kutyahideg című film. Nincs olyan ember, aki ne nézné végig szívesen ezt a szeretettel teljes alkotást, s ne sírna egy kiadósat. A Hókölykök esetében pont az ellenkezője történik, annak ellenére, hogy szintén kutyákról szól ez a film. Azonban ez sokkal inkább aranyos és vicces, mint szívszaggató. Igazi kellemes karácsonyi elfoglaltság.

És akkor maradjunk az állatoknál. A Pata-csata is hosszú évekig alapdarabnak számított Magyarországon a szent esti műsorfelhozatalban. Aranyos és tanulságos film a szeretetről és kitartásról. Charlie és a csokigyár. Nos, ennek tényleg semmi köze a karácsonyhoz, de a film különleges világa és végkimenetele egyértelműen méltóvá teszi ezt az alkotást arra, hogy a karácsonyi filmezős listánkon szerepeljen.

Tökéletes családi program lehet egy-egy mese karácsony idején. Jó választás lehet a Balto, amely egy igaz történetet dolgoz fel. A félig husky, félig farkas szánhúzó kutya, Balto egy rendkívül veszélyes küldetésbe vág bele társaival, hogy megmentse a hóvihar miatt elzárt alaszkai településeken diftériával küzdő gyerekeket. Izgalmas, szívszorító történet a bátorságról, az önfeláldozásról és a közösség erejéről. A sírás és a rengeteg tanulság garantált! Vagy a Jégvarázs, ami szintén nem a karácsonyról szól, de hangulatában és üzenetében – a testvéri szeretet minden felett – igazán illik az ünnephez. A Polar Expressz egy kissé más jellegű, mint az előző két mese. Egyrészt azért, mert ez abszolút a karácsonyról szól. Másrészt azért mert egy teljesen más világot mutat be, egyrészt azért is, mert animációs filmről van szó.
