This is the condenser microphone I am using, AKG C414. It is my favourite microphone to record with, due to the fact that I can switch between polar patterns. I particularly like recording the acoustic guitar because it gives a clear natural sound when it records onto ProTools.

Robin and I are using his new Neumann TLM 102 Condenser Mic for the Peninsula Youth Orchestra performance this weekend - handling center woodwind duties 👌 I’m still getting a feel for it’s sound but right off the bat I can tell it has a flat, smooth and pleasant tone. It also has a tight cardioid polar pattern capture allowing it to focus on the woodwind section without picking up too much of the stringed instruments and percussion. I’m judging this by comparing it to an AKG 414 b-uls in cardioid which I work with regularly.
