Totally jumping unprovoked in here to ask if you have ever seen the tv show Being Human? It ran for 5 seasons in the UK and it's about a vampire, werewolf and a ghost living together trying to live a 'normal' life. It's a comedy-drama with a few scary moments, very good I would recommend.
If you don't want to dedicate your time to a whole 5 seasons I would recommend season 3 to start off with, you don't need much knowledge going into it and it's definitely the strongest season IMO. Anyway thought maybe it would be right up your street check it out!
Anyway thank you for coming to my TED talk.
IMDb link https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1349938/
Also I think it got 1 season remade in the US but we don't talk about that...
Ahhhh this sounded familiar and yes, I have heard of this show! Vampire Poldark!
Confession: I actually watched like one or two episodes of it yeeeears ago with my sister, and we both hated it 😭😭😭 I'm sorry! I honestly don't remember much about it besides Aidan Turner's greasy locks lmao, but there was a weird vibe and we both were like "I don't want to watch this again" so we didn't 😅 It might actually be good, but eh...it just didn't appeal to me at the time (the same can be said for poldark which I also watched with my parents and do not recommend ✋)
Thanks for the rec though! Maybe I'll revisit it at some point, for ~research~

Turnsgiving 2023: Day 2
Least Favorites
To me, Turn is Perfect but Also Not Perfect but also The Greatest Show of All Time, so finding me dissing it only happens once in a blue moon.
Over the course of Turn and Tea, I’ve only watched seasons 3 and 4 once— I just only recently finished s3 for the second time. Not because I think they’re bad television, but because there are some moments that I don’t find as exciting to revisit.
My two nitpicks deal with Abe and Robert Rogers. In s1, Rogers was an intriguing character and watching him is fun! He’s a Scottish brute whose survival skills rival only Simcoe’s and he’s a foil for Washington, who he knew during the Seven Years War. I do wish they went into his historical dealings, specifically with the capture of Nathan Hale, but his and Ben’s face off is still a great moment in the show.
Rogers and Caleb’s scavenger hunt at the beginning of s2 was still fun, but after he leaves at the end to find the “Northwest Passage” I excepted to never see him again. And honestly? It should’ve remained that way. I avoided rewatching s3 for a couple reasons, but one of the was that I didn’t care to see Rogers and Abe fighting in a hole in the ground! If I wanted to watch men fight in dark holes, I’d go watch Poldark or a war drama! Okay… well… a different war drama!
Speaking of war and Abe Woodhull, that leads me to my next point. Private Woodhull. PRIVATE WOODHULL. What even WAS this?! Who ALLOWED THIS?! And to drag a poor Dragoon in it… Sergeant Champe I’m so sorry! You did that all on your own and they made you work with Private Tintin instead and forced me to watch it! #savethehorsegirls
But the most ridiculous part was having him to be shot at Yorktown! YORKTOWN. The most main character moment EVER. I get they wanted the gang all together but god… at what cost!!
Anyways. That’s two of my gripes with the show. I’m normal now. We all know I’m president of the Richard Woodhull Hate Club, but that’s just another day at Headquarters.
(S4 will be the next season I rewatch. Why did I only watch it once? Because I had a breakdown when I finished it but that’s digressing.)

stark family fancast / ned stark edition
1.) Charlie Vickers in his role as ‘Halbrand’ in the show, Rings of Power. Even though Sean Bean’s age wasn’t accurate to Ned, i can’t help but compare and i feel like Charlie IS his younger Ned
2.) Alexander Dreymon in his role of Uhtred in the Last Kingdom.
What i love about this fancast besides my usual spiel of matching the character description is that in the first season, Uhtred marries a beautiful redhead for duty’s sake and has a son with her, sound familiar?
3.) Orlando Bloom in his role as Balian in the film, Kingdom of Heaven. He has northern features and I think he really portrays the feeling of a 19 year old Ned fresh off having lost his father and brother and essentially his sister and now he’s going off to war . and Orlando and Kit look so similar especially when they’re brooding.
4.) Viggo Mortenson in his role as Aragon in LOTR would fit great for an older ned at the start of the book series or even during the greyjoy rebellion
5.) François Arnaud in his role of Cesare in the show, The Borgias. He has the stark look and hey, jon had to get his broodiness and great hair from somewhere
6.) Aiden Turner is his role as Ross Aiden in the show, Poldark is one of my favorites for Ned because his co star in the show, Eleanor Tomlinson playing Demelza is a great fancast for my fave, Catelyn

hiya! can I get your top recs for period films please? you have such good taste and I'm trying to watch more movies lol
hiya!!! first off i’m so honored you would come to me. i feel like i’ve really made it in the world now. and thank you wow?? i’m touched you think i have good taste 🥺🥺🥺 anyway i myself am always trying to watch more, but here’s a list of ones i enjoy!!
Pride and Prejudice (2005) - in my top 5 favorite movies, top 4 on letterboxd, even! (my letterboxd is “batb2017” hehe, feel free to follow if you’re there!) but yeah just a gorgeous piece of cinema. an absolute work of art your honor.
Rosaline (2022) - perfect for your url, this is a comedic take on romeo & juliet. it’s from the perspective of juliet’s cousin rosaline. honestly it’s so funny and has a great romance too. it is fully canon romeo & juliet in my mind now lol
Enola Holmes (2020) & Enola Holmes 2 (2022) - both GREAT movies, highly recommend. romance is a secondary factor for sure, but i think they’re both so wonderful and enola is an incredibly charming main character. (+ henry cavill is absolutely my new favorite sherlock holmes, and this is coming from someone who used to be obsessed with bbc sherlock haha)
Little Women (2019) - also just so stunning!!! i have nothing against the 1994 version, for the record, i simply have not seen it yet lol.
Belle (2013) - a wonderful story & romance, and based on a true story! definitely absolutely worth a watch.
Titanic (1997) - i’m sure we’ve all seen this but hey, it deserves to be here. it’s not among my absolute favorites but it’s a great story.
Outlaw King (2018) - this film is definitely more about the scottish war against england (i’m paraphrasing bc i don’t remember the official name of this war) so if medieval war movies aren’t your thing that’s very valid. BUT!!! there is a sweet romance mixed in there that keeps me coming back for a rewatch <3
Emma (2020) - i didn’t LOVE this one but i did like it a good amount. it’s sweet and fun and certainly worth the watch.
The Man Who Invented Christmas (2017) - i just watched this like two days ago and it’s not a romance, it’s just about charles dickens and how he wrote a christmas carol. but i personally loved it and found it funny/relatable as a writer, so you may enjoy! and perfect for the season!!
AND! here is a list of movies that i have not seen, but are on my watchlist. so i can’t vouch for their quality, this is just to say they have intrigued me (or been recommended to me) and i will watch them some day haha.
Bright Star (2009) - EDIT: i’ve seen this now! it’s a tragedy but a very beautiful one. verrryy beautiful. but you’re definitely going to cry.
Mr. Malcolm’s List (2022) - EDIT: i’ve seen this now! AND I LOVED IT!!! definitely in my new top favorites of period pieces.
A Room With A View (1985)
Marie Antoinette (2006) - EDIT: i’ve seen this now! absolutely stunning vibes & aesthetics. i had an amazing time watching it :)
Ophelia (2018)
Chevalier (2023) - EDIT: i’ve seen this now! AND IT IS AMAZINGGGG amazing amazing. another true story that is so worth the watch.
BONUS you didn’t ask for series but here’s a shortlist of my favorite period drama shows, just for kicks!
Poldark
Call the Midwife
The Crown
Bridgerton
Anne with an E
The Great
Downton Abbey

tagged by lovely @lord-aldhelm. thank u so much!
3 ships:: it's a hard one, i have a tendency to fall for characters rather than ships. but those that came to mind: regina x aleksander [dark; well, one can say 'what about a person he murdered and lied her about his identity?' and i'll reply 'what murder!? he was the best guy around!' and he was. the best guy and best supportive partner she could've ever asked for], dwight x caroline [poldark; these two honestly... i admire them sooo much for the way they handled the hardships of their lives, like, the child?? the war?? the way they are ready to listen to each other in order to grow as a couple???], hmmm, felix x wendy [ouat; yes, these two didn't have more than ten seconds on screen together, but i wrote a whole ass fanfiction where wendy was torn between her need to kill felix in order to break a spell that prevented her from leaving town AND the realisation that felix in fact was the only person who shared the same experience and understood her completely; also in his past felix ended up being a monk who ran off the monastery after the suspicous conflagnation and death of the bishop. so yeah, he would've forgiven her for going after what she wanted].
first ship: um, maybe orube x lord cedric from witch.
last song: bluebells by patrick wolf [the man is my 'go to', when it starts to smell like autumn].
last movie: valerie and her week of wonders.
currently reading: [i have just finished today actually!] the last kingdom by bernard cornwell, and [not quite sure how the title was translated into english but] ordinary life in the middle ages by robert fossier [i enjoy it a lot!]
currently watching: nothing, still processing the end of tlk.
currently consuming: peaches, last ones of the summer season.
currently craving: apple turnovers [i have leftover pastry and apples from the neighbour's orchard, probably should use those]
well, this blog is rather new, and i don't know a lot of people here, so feel free to participate whoever is reading [and wanting to do so] this.
p.s. terrible sorry for that enormous essay about my ships.
