Des pâtes à la cantine

Vraiment, les polonais n’ont pas fini de me surprendre. Le carême a commencé le 26 février. Le premier jour, le mercredi, c’est toujours celui qui est le plus respecté. C’est pourquoi ce mercredi-là, le menu de la cantine est légèrement différent.

D’habitude une assiette de cantine est toujours composée de trois éléments : de la viande ou du poisson, des féculents et des crudités. Bon je dis dans une assiette de cantine mais c’est plutôt la règle de base d’une assiette en Pologne. Tout en un, efficace, pratique, économique en vaisselle et mélange en bouche étonnant parfois.

Je mange à la cantine de l’école primaire tous les mercredis. C’est un moment privilégié que j’adore. Tout le monde doit manger en quatrième vitesse parce que la pause déjeuner est très courte.  Je ne sais pas à quel point elle est courte car je n’y comprends toujours rien à l’organisation des pauses, surtout que c’est différent entre le lycée et l’école primaire. Bref, passons :)

Ce mercredi, donc, comme tous les autres jours, le repas commence par une soupe. En général on commence par la soupe, puis l’assiette principale puis la compote pour finir. La compote c’est une boisson, des fruits bouillis dans de l’eau avec du sucre. Si j’ai compris c’est un peu une recette dont la fabrication est réservée aux grands-mères ou aux dames de cantine.

Aujourd’hui quand j’entre dans le réfectoire je note que les enfants déjà installés mangent des pâtes avec une sauce rose. Bon je ne me formalise pas trop, du rose dans une assiette c’est fun. En mangeant la soupe, on m’explique qu’aujourd’hui c’est le carême des carêmes et que pour cette occasion le repas se veut léger, d’où les pâtes.

Je fini ma soupe, délicieuse. Arrive donc le moment de manger ces fameuses pâtes avec la sauce rose. Franchement j’ai explosé de rire en me rendant compte que la sauce était un fameux, pas très fameux, mélange crème-fraiche-fraises. Fraises oui :) Des pâtes aux fraises c’est parfaitement normal en Pologne, mais tellement drôle pour moi.

Encore maintenant je ne m’en remets pas. Des fraises avec des pâtes ! Des fraises les gas ! L’italienne qui est en moi n’en revient pas :) Il s’avère que la fraise est une super star en Pologne et qu’elle ne se contente pas d’être un ingrédient clé des tartes, des mousses ou des desserts en tout genre. La fraise est transgenre en Pologne :) Elle peut faire à elle seule l’objet de soupe, de garniture pour les pierogi (les raviolis polonais) ou de sauce. Les mélanges sont infinis et les règles sans importance.
