Not me (/s) creating an entire timeline in my head about Mav going to uni and meeting Goose (who's in the Academy) and going to ROTC afterwards because I didn't know you can join ROTC straight out of high-school but I have now realised that and want to change my timeline but have written multiple fics mentioning the old timeline which I now have to change and I know I don't have to but I want to.

My old timeline was Mav gets rejected from the Academy -> Mav goes to University in Annapolis and meets Goose and Carole -> Mav graduates University and goes to ROTC then flight school

My GooseMavCarole fic relies on this a lot but I think I can explain it as 'Mav didn't think the ROTC would accept him after the Academy rejected him so he applied to university then went to the ROTC'. This could also link into why this turns into a poly au because maybe Mav saw Iceman and Slider before Top Gun and liked the look of them, then the rivalry happened in Top Gun but there's more of a knowledge underneath? Or maybe that's just an AU

I think I will change my Christmas fic 'Bradley's First Christmas'

The new timeline is

1978-1982- Goose goes to the Academy, he meets Carole in say 1979, they move in together in say 1980, Carole gets pregnant in 1981 and moves to Texas for more support while Goose goes to flight training

1982-83- Goose is in a class with Iceman and Slider but his pilot leaves and Mav needs a RIO so they get partnered up, hence why he knows how Iceman flies without Mav knowing. Carole visits and they get along well, this is when Bradley's First Christmas will happen

1983- Goose and Carole get married

1986- Goose and Mav go to Top Gun. I know there's explanation of Mav not being accepted into the academy but I wish they were more specific with the path he took (maybe it's my autism making me not pick up on all the implied stuff or just not being an expert on the US Navy). It does make more sense with how Goose can know Iceman and Slider but not Mav and how Mav is meant to be younger and yet Goose has a whole wife and kid?!

I already went through a whole thing because I thought that Mav maybe reapplied to the Academy and that's how he met Goose but then changed that idea and said he went to university. I also didn't get that you could live off campus while at the Academy.

Tldr, I realised you can join ROTC after high school so will change some fics and my timeline because life is fluid and you can change your mind whenever you want

thinking about Mav and Carole raising Bradley together and finding comfort and solace in each other after losing Goose

they both lost a part of themselves but at least they have each other

and by god they'll do everything they can to protect Bradley

Thought I’d pass on extremely sincere appreciation for your niche work in the queer/queerplatonic (whatever you prefer to call it) mavgoose and mavgoosecarole space, both of which I’m obsessed with as well (we are a small but mighty group lol). Some day soon I’m gonna finish my fics for them and throw them out into the world for others I swear (like awesome folks like you do!). As an aspec person I just think the entire Maverick-Bradshaw family dynamic is 💯💯💯 and glad I’m not the only one!

When I first wrote poly qpr goosemavcarole there was really nothing out there like this. There was one romo goosemavcarole fic but it was post canon so really there was nothing out there that i wanted to read. What i was craving. Which is why I think my first one is so strong, I was writing what I wanted to read.

Before I made this blog I was out on my own ( I didn't have any friends reading my stuff) , not really sure how it would go over, but to my surprise, people liked it, and it still holds up as my favorite fic.

But no, you aren't the only one, and I think people actually like the idea a lot. I can't wait to see your fics fly anon, whenever you are ready to let them. :D

oh no, this is hard. All my favorite parts of my writing are my dialogue... I guess I will just pick out what I am feeling at the moment.

"Most people don't." Slider said then sighed as he managed to finish a suit of the cards. His hands both on the table now, staring down at the cards, before growling. "I am no good at this." Iceman frowned, giving him a look of bafflement. “You are doing fine. Most people don't get a suit and you are almost-" Slider pounded his fist on the table in frustration, "No, not at solitaire. At being nice, comforting, the point of that story was supposed to get you to feel like we could talk about this stuff. Guess there is too much of my dad in me." Slider let out a laugh that was so bitter it made Iceman flinch. "Look, forget it. You don't have to tell me what's wrong. Maybe it's good you don't overshare-" "Would you beat up a loved one if you thought they were gay?" Slider blinked in surprise and looked up at Iceman who was focused on keeping his expression blank. Slider swallowed, "N-no?" Upon hearing that Ice smiled softly, feeling more relaxed. "Good. Then you aren't like that bastard, are you?"

I just really like all of Solitare as a whole, it is just full of tension but you can also tell they care about each other. This part I like because it is a moment where Ice isn't a mind reader.

A fic where Iceman and Maverick swap roles and Iceman had a father in the navy who passed away. Inverse Rio + Driver. Goose is the lead, and Mav is the Rio. Slider is the lead, Iceman is the Rio. I would say any fic with Mitch Mcdeere, but so far no one else has wrote him...
