Ive seen you talking about turtle 2018-2012 crossover fics and your opinion on them, might i suggest the fic "The Eldest Brother"? Obviously not in a "This Is Different And You Should Change Your Opinion" but a "hey i think you might actually like it?"

It talks about how rise raph crosses an interdimensional portal by accident and helps the 2012 turtle realize the subtle (and sometimes not) ways theyre actually hurting their brothers. I think how they depicted leo s under-a-lot-of-stress-but-wants-to-be-liked-by-his-father and raph s anger-issues-actually-terrified-of-sharing-his-feelings was very well done. They also didnt forget to depict donnie s autism and mikey s adhd and how it impacts their life and relationships with their brothers which as a neurodivergent is pretty important to me but idk if youre interested in that particularly. Also the parentified rise raph issues are NOT ignored, poor guy.

I havent cought up to it in a long while so I dont remember everything really well but tried my best to describe it so mind the trigger warnings (sorry for rambling)

2012! April and Rise! April headcannons

So here's the thing, April is my favorite character in Rise and the 2012 series and I am DYING for some crossover content of them interacting but I havnt seen a lot of it out there so I'm making it myself.

I don't realy know how I want them to meant but let's just go with the scenario where rise! Leo is messing with his portals and somehow the 2012 gang ends up in the rise universe and thets when the aprils meet.

- 12!april had autism and rise!April had ADHD and they both make the autism and ADHD solidarity meme.

-12!april can't cook to save her live but rise!April is a great cook thanks to some prior job experience. Rise!April is 12!april's favorite cook (don't tell Mikey)

-Rise!April loves 12!april but she hates her outfit (she is right about that) 12!april loves rise!April's outfit but thinks the leggings and skirt are impracticable (she is right about that) so the both go shopping at thrift stores to look for stuff.

-rise!April was very freaked out when she discovered that her counter part was half KRANG (because let's be real. The Krang did just traumatize her and her friends)

-12! April on the other hand was a little surprised that rise! April had been possessed by Karai in the past but she and the boys have seen so much wierd stuff that she got over it real quick (she was more surprised that Karai was the boys grandma instead of their sister)

-12!april grew up with the original bratz dolls but she is more of a monster high fan and was hyped to hear that there are multiple reboots of the franchise and

rise!April is a bratz fan who grew up with monster high and she asks 12!april all about what the bratz franchise was like back in the day.

-Rise!April is a total theater kid thanks to donnie and Leo and 12!april is a movie nerd Thanks to Leo and Mikey. Where rise! april can sing almost every song from rent and knows the whole script and all the choreography and is ready to dance and sing whenever 12!knows where the movie was shot, how long it took, what the buget was, how much is made, what happened on set who played in it etc.

-12!april is a little jealous that rise!April has know the boys for so long while she met them when she was 16. She would have loved to have the boys in her life sooner.

-when rise!April learned about 12!aprils powers she asked her to help her mess with the purple dragons 12!april was totally ready to mess up some street thugs so she was hesitant about messing with some random highschoolers. That was until she met them and after that encounter she made all their tech levitate to spook them.

-12!april wasn't allowed to have any social media because her dad was scared that the Krang might find them but rise!April has introduced her to tiktok and pinterest and let me tell you the gilr is hooked.

Okay so I just got an ide for a ROTTMNT/TMNT 2012 crossover fanfic but I'm shit at writing so uhm here's the idea if anyone wants to write it. If you do write it please credit me/tag me/message me lol. You don't have to ask for permission just like, make sure I know about it/can read it thamks

Anyway, the actual idea is as follows:

Okay okay so it's set post-movie (like a few months later ) and everyone's recovering and healing their trauma and all that right? So they're all doing pretty ok but Leo's doing like worse than the others ptsd/mentally-wise and is very wary about like the concept of time/dimension travel.

So, Raph, Mikey and Donnie, being the good brothers they are, don't being up the topic around him, but they talk about it when he's not around cuz Donnie's making a multi-dimensional gun because since he's proved time travel, he also wants to prove dimensional travel.

Anyway so he finishes the gun, right? And so he takes his brothers (minus Leo) to test it out somewhere secluded. And it works!! And alternate veraions of him, his brothers, April, Splinter and even Casey (all 2012 mind you) come through the portal!! And everyones confused and excited so they introduce themselves and clear everything up and all that. So then the 2012 gang turn around to go home but the portal closed and the gun's not working for whatever reason. Shit.

Raph offers they stay with them, and then Mikey reminds them of Leo and everyone (-2012) is like 'Oh shit what are we gonna do'

And so they decide on a plan. The 2012 gang are going to stay in their lair until they find a way to send them back and tell Rise! Splinter about it, but make sure Rise! Leo, under NO CIRCUMSTANCE, finds out.

And the whole fanfic is them trying to navigate life while keeping the 2012 gang a secret from Rise Leo

In the end (think like a month more or less later) Leo finds out and freaks out but like a week later Rise Donnie sends them back to their universe so yeah. The Rise gang did get the 2012 gang's phone numbers tho so possible chatfic about that too??? Idk

Hmm, author's choice on director's cut...I think I'll talk some more about Hanging On (You're All That's Left to Hold On To). So here are some random behind the scene's bits from my brain!

You can all credit the fabulous @mia6363 for opening my eyes to the potential and joy of utilizing Bobby Finstock as a character. Her stories that focus on him are amazing and were very inspiring.

When I set down to figure out how Bobby might know about the Supernatural and some of his backstory for this universe I landed on him having a bit of the Sight and that led to him being a Medium.

I'm pagan myself and will admit that a lot of my beliefs and studies did influence the worldbuilding of this fic a lot. As did my absolute love of Ursula K. Le Guin's Earthsea books, which gets heavily into the power of naming.

Shufflemancy (using music as a divination tool) is actually a thing that I've used when stuck on things in the past. Like most divination tools, I find that it's more helpful in understanding your present and working through thoughts than predicting the future. But it can be a fun way to try to sort out chaotic thoughts and figure out what nagging worry in your brain is going on about.

Other aspects of my own experiences and learning that got women into the fic were the scenes on moving meditation. While I've never been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder or ADHD, I do have C-PTSD and there is a strong possibility that I have inattentive type ADHD and/or am somewhere on the ASD spectrum. Because of the way my brain is wired, I've always struggled with traditional meditation techniques. But noticed that the times when my brain would truly quiet in the way people talk about meditation were moments when I was focused on my body and movement. Dance, martial arts, walking, and hell, even coloring all help me get into that zone.

Additionally, hot chocolate mix in a cup of coffee is a great way to make shitty coffee palatable and create a very cheap mocha. And since I know most support groups are held in places where the coffee is mediocre at best, I wanted to throw in that bit of knowledge. It felt like something Bobby would know and be happy to share with Noah.

The other random fact was that I did not intend to write a stealth crossover with the Owl House when I started this fic. But I'd been watching it and loving it and realized that the character I was designing for Bobby's grandmother and mentor figure was a whole lot like Eda Clawthorne. And when I realized I needed some additional characters to help unfuck Beacon Hills, the idea to include Luz and Amity was just too much to resist. So in this universe, the Clawthorne family is the Hawthorne family and is a long line of witches and emissaries, and Luz and Amity met at summer camp/school rather than through a dimensional portal incident.

Towards A Better X-Men

Generation X v1 is problematic. I love it, deeply. I still think the book is great. I would suggest it to anyone who is interested in X-Men. But Scott Lobdell’s M, specifically Claudette St. Croix,  was a horrible sort of depiction of autistic people. It’s tough when a characterization in comics ages this poorly, especially for a character so unique and so full of possibility. The media has been terrible about depictions of autistic women and this particular mismanagement has never been rectified. Despite their older sister retaining her powers through M-Day the St. Croix Twins, Claudette and Nicole, have not been seen since Generation X v1 #58. That, itself, would be poor, but Claudette isn’t alone in being lost like this. It’s worth asking for more from the X-Men Franchise when it comes to representing autism.

From the relatively humble beginnings of Phalanx Covenant, which was not a very good crossover, a few moments were etched indelibly into my eyes. Never will I ever forget Blink’s sacrifice or the Phalanx spires of techno-organic flesh covered in soundless screaming human faces. I had read some of adjectiveless, X-Force, and Excalibur at the time and when a new book that had Jubilee AND a character named Everett in it came out? It was over for me. I couldn’t be torn away from the page. In Generation X’s introduction M was the powerhouse. Gifted with The Package (Super-Strength, Super-Speed, Invulnerability, and Flight) and a Telepath to boot she was the haughty and superior Veronica Lodge to Paige Guthrie’s Kentucky Betty Cooper. It would turn out that M was secretly the twins Claudette and Nicole St. Croix impersonating their older sister and that their occasional bouts of catatonic stupors were the result of Claudette’s autism.

My little sister was born in 1994, the same year Generation X debut, and she is autistic. But far from the stupor and idiot savantism demonstrated from Lobdell’s depiction of Claudette’s personality my sister Madisson provided me first-hand experience with the reality of an autistic child with pervasive developmental delay. In caring for my little sister I have learned a great deal and now that we are adults she never stops teaching me. I have had the fortune to meet more than a few members of the autistic community. If I could, please allow me to communicate one specific flaw with Generation X:

It is not okay to depict the autistic as wordless cyphers with magical abilities and no personality. Ever.

People with autism are People first and foremost. Sadly Generation X v1 at no point put in the time or effort into making Claudette a person. Where Nicole was the girl we saw as M for years, the one who got development and speaking lines, Claudette was a mystery and not a character. I cannot excuse that. It’s a damning mark against the book and hopefully one that people will only have dimmer views on in the future. With any luck someone who cares may bring these characters back into the fold but they haven’t been seen in years and there is precedence that they never will again.

Laura Dean is an Alpha Flight character who was autistic and also a twin. Her backstory involves her parents being mutantphobes and trying to abort Laura’s twin sister. That sister fled as a foetus into Liveworld where it would grow to become Goblyn, a blue skinned creature with sharp fangs and teeth. In their original incarnation they could swap places when Laura was endangered, but that was changed as Laura grew in her ability to control her portals to other worlds. We haven’t seen this character since 1994, or so says the Marvel Wikia. Not being on the autism spectrum myself I cannot speak to the original depiction being well handled or not, I would guess not, but either way the character is certainly unseen in just a little under 25 years. The similarities between Laura Dean and Claudette are stark. Both mutant twins of African descent, both pairs only allow limited expression of each member in their initial outing. Both have their problem of cohabitating with their sibling’s body resolved before vanishing from continuity.

There was no effort put into Claudette. Monet St. Croix is the Black Female X-Man with the second most appearances in the 616. That the St. Croix Twins have been missing for this long is curious to say the least. But then we don’t see much of Emma’s sisters either. But I, at least, ask that Marvel do better. Part of what makes the X-Men Franchise is that it embraces and espouses diversity. We need stories about autistic mutants. It doesn’t have to be any more complicated than that. Writing those stories ensures that mutants represent all minorities, as they should. Generation X Volume 1 suffers greatly in retrospect for not taking the opportunity to do something meaningful with the characters it had.

Taskmaster: The Aspie Coded mercenary

There is little autism representation in media, the representation that does exist generally is the form of the young pre-teen white boy who is (selective-)mute which has been the image people think of when they hear the word autism. However like many things autism isn't that clear cut, it exists on a spectrum, it has no age where it disappears, it exists in people of all genders and all races. Many typical autistic behavioral characteristics are considered interesting character traits for stories, it's when a character ticks a lot of the boxes that you can really say a character is autism coded. Now often when people headcanon characters they recognized themselves in as autistic it gets backlash. So if you refuse to see Taskmaster as anything other than a gifted neurotypical this is your right of course, but if you are open to look a little deeper keep on reading.

The Chameleon

Anyone who has seen anything Taskmaster related knows he copies moves, the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon appropriately dubbed him a combat chameleon. However few media shows he copies much more than that, the smallest details of mannerisms,  the voice, and indeed the techniques.

Observing and analyzing

Whenever Taskmaster gets introduced he is mostly seen observing from a distance; often through a sniper rifle scope, sometimes observing (live or stock) footage, watching from the sidelines. In short he mostly doesn't engage a character he has no info on. The data he gathered from observing then gets analyzed, broken down in formal rules, guidelines for patterns to be used to predict certain course of actions or to teach them.

Sure, it is in part about his powers, but canon states Tony does it for more than just that, when we look at the behavior in Autistic spectrum people who try to stay off the radar they put much effort in “being normal”, playing a part they studied in through observing people, watching fiction and nonfiction on TV, and reading books about the subject so they can link words to the feelings and such they are trying to understand. Many people with Asperger syndrome (aspies) end up studying psychology, religion and/or philosophy as a hobby or career because they want to understand how people work, trying to find logic in human behavior. Aspies (most commonly the female ones) who want to stay under the radar tend to stay on the sidelines at first observing and analyzing, learning body language and what is “popular” what will make them friends and they will often link certain gestures to what they want to convey, but when observed for a while it can stand out that the gesture often stays identically the same no matter the setting, it lacks the organic feel it would have with a neurotypical person. Tony does this as well for social interactions. For example he states he watched a ton of Romcoms to try and understand relationships.

Some Aspies are extremely successful in mimicking the social interactions and setting guidelines and rules to follow in situations, that it makes their social issues go unnoticed unless there are severe conflicts due to unpredictability. Coming into contact with an illogical or completely different or unexpected scenario can for some Aspies lead to an overload, which can be recognized by turning inside or lashing out. In one instance it is trying to withdraw from the unpredictable impulses the lashing out is due to anger being a secondary emotion, meaning it's a mask for fear, confusion or even other emotions.

It is also worth noting that Tony’s masks canon have lenses that not only help him by analyzing and recording stuff, but that all his masks offer him a filter between sound, light and smells (his stylized mask canon has a gas mask built in), on top of this Tony always tends to wear a hood that throws a shadow over his face, again limiting the sensory input. 

Mimicking 

Of course analysing and observing on their own means nothing if not used in practise as well. Everything Taskmaster sees done he can do. Above that he can even improve on it due to analysing and combining things he has learned. This applies to languages, voices, movements, mannerisms, speech patterns, etc… Something that happens for a lot of Aspies is that for example no matter where in the world they are from will speak english with an American accent because they learn by hearing english through television/games/radio. A lot of Aspies also are very talented at doing voices and imitating people. Tony is canon able to not only copy voices so well that they fool voice recognition software, he’s also known to speak most commonly used languages and dialects, being able to fake his accents and voice tones to a point where he can pass as a native.

Identity, emotions and attitude

The Ego

Tony himself is seen often as cocky, yet careful. He is extremely aware of the many uses of his powers and his intellect and prides himself and being able to do pretty much anything short of super powers, showing in the smug claim “Anything you can do, I can do better.”  Thus he clearly thinks himself superior to many others. He radiates confidence and power in most his appearances, he tends to lead and only follow when the act is a means to his personal ends; be it money, intelligence, or simply getting his record cleared. Tony is also seen adjusting his identity based on what he believes others want, be it losing his Bronx accent that was him holding onto his roots, disguised appearances that are considered professional, or the masks he refuses to take of (exclude Siren and the Taskmaster vol 2 retcon comics for this). A lot of Aspies create an ego around other people, for Tony this ego is Taskmaster, often they will hate who they really are (due to considering themselves broken for example) and will try and function as the ego until they can't handle it anymore and they crack. Or they will simply lose sight of their own identity and feel lost.

Tony is canon rather paranoid, shows in his refusal to unmask for pretty much anything and anyone (Wade Wilson canon the only one confirmed to have knowingly seen his real face and lived). He doesn't trust anyone or anything, he always has at least one or two back-up plans or get-aways.

He refuses to walk in a job he doesn’t have all the details about, a job where he can’t be properly prepared. It is rare for him to take a job from someone he hasn’t worked with before or hasn’t been sent to him by a client he trusts, because he wants to make sure he doesn’t get set-up.

Disclaimer around the unmasking: The only canon shows of Tony’s face was Siren from the attempt to unite Malibu comics with Marvel when Marvel bought them up and The Taskmaster Volume 2 retcon from 2010, but since only the amnesia part of the retcon seems to have made it in the 616 canon and the Siren series ends with Taskmaster getting stuck in an inter-dimensional portal before magically reappearing without any info on how he got back home only to state later that he was in the DC verse for the crossover that happens seven years later. Every other time we see Tony “unmasked” like in the Udon collaboration comics Taskmaster Volume 1 and Agent X, every unmasked view of him was a hologram mask while genuinely unmasked Tony always appears seen from the back without his head in the frame or only a dark shadowed outline.

Emotional and mental health

If we look at emotional health we often also need to consider the support network, what is common with Aspies as that they put all their focus on a limited group of people, usually family, younger or older people, but rarely peers. Due to their problems with social interaction they often don’t make friends easily, keeping made friends proves to be extremely challenging as well. A very common consequence of this is the following; “Most persons with AS want to be social, but fail to socialize successfully, which can lead to later withdrawal and asocial behavior, especially in adolescence.” - Attwood, Tony (2007). The Complete Guide to Asperger's Syndrome. Taskmaster canon has one recurring “friend”, this being Deadpool, their friendship seems to exist of them hiring each other for jobs, occasionally offering to help the other out for free, and trusting each other with some secrets (Wade went to Tony for help in working without his healing factor, Tony has unmasked around Wade). Outside of this Outlaw, Constrictor, Agent X, and Sandi have referred to Tony as a friend in some way or another, but these contacts are usually brief, and they tend to fall out of view. Tony has also been seen with Bullseye in bar cameos and such in several occasions. One thing all these have in common is that all these friendships are work related. Tony finds being a mercenary trilling, fulfilling and more rewarding than family or friends. He sees relationships as a liability a weakness they can use against him.

Tony does have short contacts of romantic nature with people from time to time and he often seems to befriend outcasts and weaker people. Even though he is a mercenary, a killer, and thus a criminal he does display a strong sense of justice. His only canon free jobs (or offers) were; taking out an abusive boyfriend, offering to help Wade with dealing with Black Swan to give him a shot to survive. On Top of that he purposely let a young hero reject beat him to give him a confidence boost after he noticed how depressed the kid got due to his rejection and he made sure Wade didn’t plan to get rid of a woman and her kids when he approached the bound people with a knife after having used them as a distraction to spring Tony from captivity.

Outside of lacking a decent support network Tony has been seen to struggle with emotions, usually not really showing much to any emotion, but when he does show emotion it was extreme burst, one example there is for example the first meeting with Wade and the breakdown that followed after the unpredictable defeat, an other example is his anger outbursts towards Agent X due to not knowing how to deal with the amnesiac new comer and the anger outbursts whenever he saw Sandi who was a love interest with other men. These short but intense outbursts of emotions are often referred to as Catastrophizing emotions, these emotional reactions are often of a short duration due to it burning out quickly.

Tony is paranoid, pretty much constantly worrying and calculating for everything that might possibly go wrong, trying to anticipate and avoid surprises, trying to avoid breaking away from the routine they have set for themselves, the rituals they keep. This once again is a pretty common thing among Aspies, anxiety and depression are very often seen here, the anxiety due to constantly trying to think of every possible outcome and usually ending up with often rather impossible worst case scenarios and the depression due to the feeling broken and outcast-ed due to the issues with social interaction. A big support and hold on that people with ASD tend to have is their special interest, some special interests are from short duration but can be very obsessive, for example getting into a certain band and getting all their stuff.

Others can be for a very long duration, being a support or a life long obsession that might fade in the background and resurface later. One of Tony’s mentioned briefly, but clearly specified as surprisingly thorough was the Spice Girls. However, Taskmaster’s very first appearance already pointed out a Special interest Tony had from a very young age, starting with watching documentaries and shows on TV of the inspiration to pretty much any hero in the marvel verse: Captain America. This had quickly broadened to all heroes and anti-heroes. This obviously shows in how he fights in the issues, many displaying it by overlaying the appearances of the heroes he is copying at that point for example, but it also shows in the fact that Tony has shirts for a lot of heroes and anti-heroes to wear when he’s teaching or using their style against someone. 

TL:DR Taskmaster ticks of a butt load of Asperger Syndrome traits, pretty much all of the obvious ones that most specialists look for. Worrying, obsessions, mimicking, people watching, troubles with social contact and a high level of intellect.

The Rules

I’m posting the rules here, for those who may not be able to access the rules page on my blog.

This blog accepts both asks (either from characters or the general public) and roleplay threads.

The IC nature of your interaction: As someone, or something, who stumbled across the mysterious transmission, you have come into the possession of a strange device which, when exposed to a device of your choice (computer, radio, phone or other mundane or extraordinary contraption), allows you to contact the Doctor and/or his daughter, with the visual and/or auditory capabilities tied to your communicator of choice. This means that if you (or your character) are using a radio, for example, you can only hear the other end (and I might omit the icons for added effect).

So that it isn’t limited to just contacting the Workshop from the outside, I’m adding another detail which the Doctor abstained from mentioning; he is tinkering with a more permanent portal that will allow passage to and from the Workshop, which means that if your character is in possession of a similar machine - or if your character is capable of magically/scientifically tracing the origins of your gifted device to the Workshop - you may visit the Doctor’s abode and interact more directly. However, the portal itself is still in the experimental stages, so it may work with varying degrees of success, meaning you can add a complication to your trip. Examples can be that your character/muse cannot speak, is blind, deformed, duplicated or spatially displaced. This, of course, is purely optional.

The exact nature of you or your character’s interaction is entirely in your control; your character may be a magical being who had managed to hear the transmission without the need of a mechanical aid and was curious about the nature of the call, or you could be a scientist/inventor who stumbled upon the transmission when adjusting your satellite and sought to glean knowledge from the allegedly wise Doctor. You might even be an extra-dimensional entity in possession of a radio seeking interaction from a lesser being. The possibilities, like the power of imagination, are endless.

Now for the actual rules:

1. Although adult themes can (and will) be present in the roleplay, ERP is prohibited. 2. As one of the characters is (technically) a minor, paedophilia is right out. 3. Asks can be made to either character, or both; you can also ask me anything, if you wish. 4. Shipping of any kind (romantic, rivalry or simple friendship) is accepted, but make sure to heed the second rule. 5. Do not feel like you have to match the word count for my responses. I tend to be rather wordy with my roleplay, but don’t let that discourage you; shorter responses are perfectly acceptable. 6. Note that I may not be able to respond immediately to an ask or thread, as college and personal business can often be demanding. 7. A relatively easy one; be respectful! As a person, I’m generally not the sort to purposefully cause offence or start drama, so keep it civil. 8. Note that, with my autism, I may sometimes say things or write things in a way that might be… odd in its wording. 9. Since all my icons are especially made for these characters, use of these anywhere else is prohibited. 10. Have fun! Things can, and will, get weird in the Workshop, what with drifting across the Realm of Fantasy into strange cosmic seas and so forth, so be sure to be open for some antics.
