so here's my personal theory on how the mal shit is gonna go:

i think mal's been corrupted by shadow, and i think he either doesn't know about it or did it because he felt it was the only way to protect his friends. similar to how he sees money - the more power he has, the more able he is to guarantee that he'll never be in a vulnerable situation (losing those he loves and being unable to do anything) again

either way i think the corruption is more manipulating him than anything. from the way tyril talked this chapter, it sounds like mal has been making a habit of making harsh, risky decisions. we've even kind of seen this when he jumped in front of Valax' glaive. when i saw that i assumed that it was your main LI who does this, but no, it's always mal. i think this is, in part, supposed to show that mal is acting way more reckless than he usually would

the other part is that, obviously, the real reason the shadow didn't hurt him was that he was already shadow corrupted anyway

im not entirely sure what the endgame is yet, but i think that it's the watcher who's responsible for the corruption. i simply don't trust a man who makes his first appearance in Certified Choices Evil Robes, and besides, today's lore tablet pretty much proved that he's taking us in the wrong direction

aerin is going to play a pivotal role in helping mal get rid of the corruption. he's the one person in the world who knows the most about it, and, from his comments about shadow corruption being more complicated than you think, possibly the only one who believes saving mal is possible anyway. also, i mean, he did go through that process

the process to save mal will likely be extremely painful, if aerin's unwillingness to talk about it is any indication

our relationship with aerin will likely influence the outcome, since he will be the key to helping mal. especially since mal has probably been his #1 hater, the main reason aerin would have to care about mal is his attachment to mc. if you don't have a good enough relationship with aerin, maybe the outcome will be different

it will be through this process that we will learn that The Watcher Is Evil, Actually and possibly foil his plans?

it will be so fucking angsty it's unreal and we'll be fed everything we didn't get in the reunion and more, THIS IS HOW MALMANCERS CAN STILL WIN

Remember when I said I would also use this place for rambling and then I did in my first few early posts but then stopped since I started receiving more asks? Yeah me too well anyway since I have some free time I’m going to discuss a very random topic I’ve had in mind for some time

So AI voices are becoming popularised to basically imitate anyone’s voice over anything to make it sound like them. And while I’m not going to go into the arguments over that, there’s one genre of voices I’m not particularly fond of people using: vocaloids.

Sometimes on tiktok I’ll see a video of someone making a vocaloid speak/sing. I can immediately tell when it’s AI however, and it’s really odd to see. Vocaloid is essentially already a voice program where you, you know, make the voice speak and sing. So why on Earth would you go the incredibly bizarre route of putting the voice through AI?

Yes there is the obvious argument of ‘well vocaloid is an expensive program on top of also purchasing a voicebank’ but that doesn’t really limit you. UTAU, free synth V banks, cough cough pirating the program, etc. all are viable options.

My problem here is the lack of effort. There’s nothing more that I appreciate then to see someone take the time to make a cover or a talkaloid, even if it’s not perfect. It’s not only funny to see someone make a vocaloid imitate a meme, but also getting to hear how the creator has chosen to tune and handle pronunciation to drive the mood and such. One good example is Minnemi on YouTube. Their breaking bad and arcade craniacs dubbed by vocaloids are really great, and add on from the sources with how their tuning is handled in my opinion.

Hearing some song or meme covered by a vocaloid clearly run through some AI in comparison just feels bland, lifeless and just disappointing. Anyone can do that, and doesn’t mean much in comparison to using these voicebanks properly. I understand using a real person in AI if the argument is ‘I want them to say something funny but I obviously can’t get the real person to’ but a vocaloid? When the whole purpose is that you can literally make them say anything?

It’s not a prevalent issue, and it’s not really a major thing as far as I’ve seen. But, it still just irks me. Here, it’s not the argument of ‘it’s wrong to make them say these things’, it’s ‘they are made to say anything in any way so why are you not using them to their full potential?’

What do you think? If you’ve made it this far you clearly might be interested in vocaloid or AI. Or maybe you just wanted to ‘read allat’ with my post lol. If you have anything to say about it, I’d like to hear it. Otherwise, thanks for reading my ramble hehe

thinkign about my f/os helping me deal w my disorders n stuff makes me feel better.... my brain tries to shut me down sometimes and be like "Thats stupid" but Who Cares .

there's some thjngs it can't help, no matter how much i want to i still can't speak properly in public or even at all to strangers, but just imagining my f/os are near me & talking / helping me through my avpd has made me go from having anixety attacks just standing in my backyard to being able to go inside grocery stores and actually shop even while crowded like.... that is so awesome sauce...

i never in my life though i'd be able to do that again, for a time i didn't think i'd ever be able to go outside at all again, but selfshipping is awesome and i am mentally ill and i think the former is very helpful & epic when you're the latter but that might just be mmy pov though
