I think we as a fandom need to talk more about cale's lack of reaction to his ancient powers. Like one day one just started speaking in his head and he just was like. okay this is happening now. And over time the number of ancient powers speaking grew. And cale was just like wow ok new family members only in my mind this time.

i love that in any other korean novel fandom when the protagonist is on a path to become a godlike existence, the fandom is generally in agreement that it's a cool power fantasy and is either bored by it or cheering the character on for the rule of cool (both are valid).

in tcf, we're also cheering cale on, but not because he's cool, no. becoming a god means cale loses. he's a loser. we want, need to see him suffer, and, honestly, him becoming a god is the funniest option.

sctir is such a good story if you're obsessed with worldbuilding Implications because yoojin is also Constantly thinking about that stuff. He's just a (previously) regular guy who has to live in this weird urban portal fantasy world so he cares about stuff like tax brackets and zoning laws and fair contract-writing and alternative uses of everyone's crazy supernatural powers. I can't count the number of times I started thinking "wait, couldn't you-" only to have it answered the next sentence. When his internal monologue mentioned dungeon resets being used for public waste disposal i practically cheered

To non-ORV-reader TCF fans who don't really understand the situation with the guns in the live action

In TCF terms imagine if Choi Han, Choi Jung Soo and Choi Jung Gun all used guns.

Choi Han and Choi Jung Soo fight in part 2 but it's just them emptying their AK-47s to make their yongs go faster at each other.

Choi Jung Gun pulls up with a bazooka on his shoulder all the time like those anime guys with big ass swords.

Lee Soo Hyuk cuts stuff with Slash with his sniper.

The ancient powers just give Cale different kinds of firearms like the screen that appears in Call Of Duty when you change your weapon.

Rosalyn uses a flame thrower.

Alberu is the only one using a sword or spear.

Sometimes, all I want is for Cale to absolutely loose his shit.

Like kicking and screaming cursing about how his slacker life keeps getting away from him. Like we know how hilariously devastated he is as readers, but I don’t think those around him understand just how OBSESSED Cale is with achieving his slacker life.

Like I want them to know the batshit decisions this walking disaster has made for the sake of a peaceful slacker life rolling in money.

He has scammed, looted, burned, fought, bled, fainted, stabbed himself etc. just for that stupid slacker life. Or maybe just once, even though I know this may be OOC, I want Cale’s thoughts to be broadcasted out loud.

I don’t know, maybe he gets cursed or something and suddenly Alberu, Choi Han and company are in on the batshit insane voices in Cale’s head plus the terrible choices he makes to get his slacker (which only makes his slacker life go far away haha).

Like do y’all REMEMBER that one scene in Part 2 where Alberu asks Cale to tone himself down lest he births another religion in ANOTHER WORLD.

This dude’s thought process is an instant 0 to 100 percent. Bro does not know moderation.

Cale, feeds some kittens: Welp you’re part of the family now.

Cale, free a dragon who follows him around: Guess you’re my son now.

Cale, meeting feral Choi Han: Oh? Hi, protagonist of the novel who kicks my ass canonically that I could definitely just avoid meeting at all instead going out of my way to stalk to the gates of Rain City. Want a meal, a bed and mental stability?

so you know how WS mentions not being able to taste stuff or something along those lines? Like that is miserable but what does that mean for Cale? Aside from starving for so much of his life he literally can't even properly enjoy the taste of food to the fullest. Sure maybe the curse is like watered down a little on his end compared to WS but like it's still there. So I HC that as KRS he liked really flavorful food, esp. spicy food since they're the only ones that actually kinda stand out to him in terms of taste you know. So now you have this guy who eats everything with a giant bucket of gochujang piled on top and chili flakes like it's normal while even his fellow countrymen question him.

Idk I just thought of how happy he was about eating good food when he woke up as Cale and really praising Beacrox and like. what if aside from how its fancy food compared to what he usually eats it's literally the first time he's ever PROPERLY tasted food. Thinking about how satisfied he was with his food that his family noticed and how he's finally enjoying food and akjbkdkadbakdjkw
