Chapter 111 excerpt:
Matt woke up. The first thing he realized was that he wasn't in his room. The second was that he was nestled between two people. The third was that those two people were Adam and Shiro. His waking, logical, smart brain remembered their conversation and how much they loved and weren't angry with him. But that part of his brain wasn't in charge right now. He tried to get out of bed as gracefully as possible, but he ended up losing his balance, falling on top of Adam before landing flat on his back on the floor with an 'oof.' That was graceless. And humiliating. And kind of painful. He'd just flipped out for no reason in a weird half-awake state and was now on the floor with the breath knocked out of him trying to make his panic stop existing.

Two stories for Shiro lovers
I have two stories that run around like mad in my head. Both are dear to my heart.
PreKerberos
This story follows an OC in her academy days years before Kerberos.
She is invited to the Garrison after meeting Sam Holt at a Science Fair. He is very interested in her concept for an AI robot. Despite her not winning first place, he give her his card and has her contact him.
She gets a full ride in as a mechanic.
She works on the planes and equipment the pilots use.
As much as she loves working on the planes, she hates heights and flying.
She has a motorcycle hoverbike.
She meets a young Shiro when she is ground crew. They don't have any classes together. But she gets earfulls from the girls around the Garrison about him.
She works directly under Sam Holt.
Shiro bumps into her outside the Garrison at a mechanic shop to pick up something for his hoverbike. She is there to order parts for her bike.
Shiro swore he has seen her around the base before. He asks what kind of bike she has after the second time he sees her at the shop.
He sees her in the garage fixing her bike. Okay, now he's interested.
They wind up talking and becoming friends over their bikes.
They go out racing. She almost always loses.
She works on the plane that helps Shiro breaks records.
They start to date after a couple years of friendship. She just teases one day asking if their trips out to "The Ridge" are dates. This catches Shiro off guard. "Only if you want it to be," after he stutters.
They do break off months prior to Kerberos because Shiro starts to realize he is gay. He doesn't want to hurt her, he cares about her.
She knows. She sees how he acts around the other man and how distant he has become.
She removes herself from Kerberos mission as Head Ground Mechanic.
She avoids Shiro.
Holt notices her absence. Holt goes to make sure she is okay.
Shiro tries to say goodbye to her.
Kerberos launches.
Kerberos fails.
Garrison blames her. It is unheard of to have a head mechanic leave before a mission. It's against protocol.
Adam does punch her out of anger and grief when he sees her.
She gets discharged from the Garrison.
She does come back years later after Commander Holt asks for her to return to work on planes for him.
4 Kerberos
This is the raunchy one that loves to run around in my head like mad. It scratches that "during paladin time" itch.
4 people went on the Kerberos mission.
All get separated.
It follows the OC around as she gets bought and sold through the Galra fleet.
Her rescue takes place immediately after rescuing Sam from Zarkon.
She stays with the group until Sam goes back to earth. She doesn't feel like she provides any use in the Castle. On top of the fact she finds herself getting ill, which she chalks up to malnourishment.
She helps Sam give the report. She is silenced because of her lower rank.
She helps Sam make Atlas.
Basically this is a ton of PTSD and trauma.
This is a long shot to see if anyone is interested. I know the fandom is long dead. Especially after the disastrous S8 ending.
But my hyperfixation is back. I'm willing to share if anyone is interested.

(1) If you haven't read Out of the Desert, I highly highly recommend it. It's preKerberos genfic where Shiro is asked to mentor Keith because Keith is two years younger than the typical age for entering the Garrison and badly needs the support. Some of the best Sam and Matt characterizations, as well as Shiro being determined to do right by Keith. (RandT eventually gets them to romance in a S7 story.) (2) This fits in well with the canon we got, the idea that Keith never had friends his own age after his dad died, and Shiro's mentoring didn't help the Garrison situation because cadets like James and Lance were jealous. And honestly, now I'm wondering just how often Keith got to interact with kids outside of school even when he still had his dad. They lived out in the middle of nowhere. Keith's dad was raising a half-alien child and may have been paranoid about when any of his mother's traits might show up. It's possible Dad tried his best to provide a loving home, but didn't dare socialize much.
Sheith headcanon: I don’t consider Keith to be a loner by choice. I think he wants connections with others, but circumstances have managed to isolate him time and time again during his life. Since the only canon and canon adjacent statements I can think of point to Keith being an exceptional Garrison student until his grief over Shiro’s disappearance drove him over the edge, I’m going to guess that Keith had not only Shiro, but a group of friends as well.
So, my thinking is that Keith entered the Garrison way early when someone recognized his potential as a pilot (think “Out of the Desert” by @rosemary-andtime). He had trouble getting along with the other first-year cadets because he was so much younger and the older cadets saw what was happening and started looking out for him, including Shiro. As time passed, Keith forged a close friendship with Shiro and continued to feel more comfortable with the older students–possibly due to growing up with just his dad and a few other adults until his dad died/disappeared–and never paid attention to the cadets in his year. Hence Lance’s attitude and Keith not even knowing who he was.
Then Shiro’s year group graduates and most of them depart for jobs or family. So when the Kerberos mission apparently fails, the only support system Keith had is scattered to the winds. There’s no one there to stop him when Iverson does whatever he does to cause Keith to explode. There’s no one there to help him when he retreats to the cabin and starts chasing shadows.

You can read the whole fic on AO3.
Shiro pads across the room, grabs a T-shirt on the way, and tries to pour into it, but in his rush, he miscalculates, and his head gets stuck in the sleeve hole just as he opens to let Keith in. He can’t see his face but hears a familiar burst of laughter.
Keith closes the door behind him and steps around Shiro.
“I’d never guess a T-shirt would be the downfall of the great officer Shirogane. The breaker of records, savior of orphans, the golden boy of the Garrison, defeated by a scrap of cotton.”
“Hilarious,” Shiro huffs out through the fabric stretched to rupturing. “A little help, cadet?”
“Alright, alright. Shame you don’t run our drills anymore because this should get me special treatment.”
Keith moves closer, and his fingers steal underneath the treacherous piece of clothing to liberate Shiro from its confines.
This was a horrible idea, Shiro realizes. Keith’s hands are warm and gentle, at odds with his jibes. He inches the tee upward, and Shiro experiences a surge of gratitude that the rustle of fabric masks the way his breath hitches when Keith’s fingers skim his sides. Once he pulls free, he quickly shrugs the T-shirt on, the right way this time, and staggers back from Keith despite every drop of blood in his body urging him to draw closer.
Keith folds his hands behind his back and measures Shiro with an amused grin. Does Shiro imagine the bright red spots on the younger man’s face? No. That must have been a trick of the light. Keith doesn’t seem to be affected by the encounter in any way. Definitely not as much as Shiro, who feels off-kilter and jittery with restless energy.
“What’s going on, Keith? Are you breaking curfew again? If Iverson catches you—”
“That’d be the day. I can sneak circles around him. Don’t worry, old-timer.”
“I can worry a little. What are you doing here?”

Headcanon:
A common GG detention chore is scraping old grease and rocks off the crawlers and/or regreasing them. It’s a miserable job that needs to be done, doesn’t require any specialized skills, and helps develop an appreciation for the less glamorous aspects of the GG’s Space Program (especially Earth-side) that even lets it exist at all.

Sparring with the bestie
old art stuff!
I wanted to join a prekerb zine once... but they insisted on “bro//ganes” (term is a red flag already), and they didn’t allow sheiths xD
it’s funny bc what makes most of us love this relationship is that is based on their unbreakable friendship. They’re so loyal and unconditional to each other. I know how to portray their loving friendship just fine.
it’s okay, I drew this as a mock piece and it’s for you all to have xD

After being lost in the foster system for years, Keith is finally reunited with his father's half-brother, Shiro. This is how one feral desert child learns to be part of a family again before it all falls apart.
Chapter 119 Excerpt:
"I knew some folk back home," Adam said, "Who would take their Halloween pumpkin and shoot it in November." He can't remember why they were having that conversation, but there it was.
Adam stopped in the kitchen. He went ahead and filled the kettle for tea. Shiro kissed Adam when he saw that the kettle was already heating. He put his shoes on and waved at Keith as he went out the door.
"Rude." What did that pumpkin ever do to them, other than decorate their house? He sat down at the counter.
Adam chuckled. "We live in the hick part of Virginia. It wasn't that weird." Shenandoah was pretty, but sparsely populated. They had some real backwoods country folk out there.
"As a hick myself, I have to say that it sounds pretty weird," Keith teased.
"Different kinds of hick, I guess," Adam said.
