Trond Norén Isaksen: As expected, Princess Ingrid Alexandra wears her pearl tiara to her second tiara appearance at Prince Christian of Denmark’s 18th birthday banquet at Christiansborg Palace today. The tiara originally belonged to her great-great-grandmother, Princess Ingeborg of Sweden, from whom it passed by inheritance to Princess Ragnhild. The children of Princess Ragnhild very generously presented it to Princess Ingrid Alexandra on her 18th birthday last year.
The Princess also wears a diamond bracelet that has belonged to Crown Princess Märtha and Princess Ragnhild, which reverted to the King on Princess Ragnhild’s death. The bracelet was an 18th birthday present from the King and Queen.
She also wears, for the first time, a pair of diamond and pearl earrings that were also a birthday present from the King and Queen. The earrings, which were also worn by Princess Ragnhild, originally had sapphires instead of pearls in the centre and were a wedding present to Crown Princess Märtha from her aunt, Princess Thyra of Denmark.
According to the research I present in my new book «Ingrid Alexandras arv - Kongefamiliens tiaraer og kvinnene som har båret dem - En historie om krig, kjærlighet, makt og prakt gjennom 250 år», it appears that Princess Thyra inherited them from her mother, Queen Louise of Denmark, who had inherited them from her grandmother, Queen Josephine of Norway and of Sweden. In other words, Princess Ingrid Alexandra is the eighth geneation to wear these earrings.
On the internet, the tiara worn by Princess Ingrid Alexandra to Prince Christian of Denmark’s 18th birthday banquet tonight has acquired the name «the Boucheron pearl circle tiara», despite the fact that it contains no circles nor is made by Boucheron. It was Princess Astrid who claimed that her grandfather, Prince Carl of Sweden and of Norway, purchased it for his wife Ingeborg when visiting the World Exhibition in Paris in 1900. However, as I show in my new book «Ingrid Alexandras arv - Kongefamiliens tiaraer og kvinnene som har båret dem - En historie om krig, kjærlighet, makt og prakt gjennom 250 år», it was not one of the tiaras exhibited by Boucheron at the 1900 World Exhibition, nor was it part of Boucheron’s stock nor are there any recorded orders or purchases by Prince Carl or Princess Ingeborg. It does, however, appear to be correct that it is a Parisian work.
Princess Ingrid Alexandra is the sixth woman to wear this tiara, after Princess Ingeborg of Sweden, Princess Margaretha of Denmark, Crown Princess Märtha, Princess Margrethe of Bourbon-Parma and Princess Ragnhild. Those of you who understand Norwegian can read about them all - and the tiara itself - in «Ingrid Alexandras arv».

You did least favourite tiara, what about favourite tiaras?
Great idea! I think I'll prick my favourite tiaras from each country, and no commentary just so that this post doesn't ramble forever and ever. Just know that these are the ones that I like for either aesthetic or historical purposes. I'd say the best collections go to the British, Swedish, and Spanish in that order. Out of the fake monarchies Greece has some bangers in there:

OTMAA Contemporaries: Marta, Astrid and Carl of Sweden.
They were second cousins of OTMAA, their mother Ingeborg of Denmark being a first cousin of Nicholas II. They had an older sister, Margaretha (1899) who seems to have had a friendly correspondence with Maria Nikolaevna who was almost exactly the same age: Margaretha was born 25 June 1899, and Maria 26 June (14 Old Style).
Marta (or Martha) was born in 1901, the same year as Anastasia; Astrid in 1905, making her slightly younger than Alexei; and Carl in 1911.
Marta would eventually become Crown Princess of Norway (she died before her husband Olav ascended the throne, so was never Queen), and Astrid would become Queen of the Belgians as the first wife of Leopold III.

~ "A diamond and sapphire tiara, 1890s, with a Royal provenance, each foliate element centred by a cabochon sapphire, flanked by a floral motif, set with old cut diamonds, gold and silver mounts. The cabochon sapphires can be swapped out for turquoise cabochons. The tiara belonged to Princess Thyra, daughter of King Frederik VIII and Queen Lovisa of Denmark. -Her siblings were King Christian X of Denmark, King Haakon VII of Norway, and Princess Ingeborg of Sweden, among others- Princess Thyra never married and left the tiara to her niece, Princess Caroline-Mathilde of Denmark, who chose to marry her first cousin, Prince Knud, the younger brother of King Frederik IX Their only child was Princess Elisabeth, receiving the tiara from her mother in the 1960s. She was a first cousin of Queen Margarethe II and wore it quite often at state functions and in 2004 at the wedding of crown prince Frederik and Mary." ~

Princess Ingrid Alexandra’s 18th Birthday Gifts
The Norwegian royal court has released the annual public gift list and the gifts received by Princess Ingrid Alexandra for her 18th birthday are included. They released a list and some photos this summer but this one is a little more detailed. Someone sent it to me and I realized that I never made a post about the jewelry she received like I did for her confirmation a couple of years ago so here it is.
King Harald & Queen Sonja
Diamond Ring - The ring was formerly a gift to Queen Sonja from her parents, Karl August and Dagny Haraldsen, in 1954.
Tumblr media
Diamond Bracelet - This was originally owned by Crown Princess Märtha and then by Princess Ragnhild. The bracelet along with the earrings and necklace below are items that were returned to the mainline after Princess Ragnhild passed away in 2012 and are now being given to Princess Ingrid Alexandra.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Earrings - They belonged to Crown Princess Märtha and then to Princess Ragnhild. I’m not sure which earrings these are because they didn’t release a picture.
Necklace - This is the most exciting item to me and the person who sent me the list since it had a bunch of emojis next to it. A picture was not released so we don’t know which necklace it is just that it belonged to Queen Maud and then to Princess Ragnhild. Princess Ragnhild had several that I don’t know the provenance of like this emerald necklace and Queen Maud had several that are lost in the wind like the Pearl Necklace Tiara and the ruby necklace from Queen Victoria. If I had to guess I would say that it’s not any of those and probably a diamond rivière necklace. There are multiple ones in the family that belonged to Queen Maud and at least one that went to Princess Ragnhild but they are really impossible to tell apart so keep an eye out for Princess Ingrid Alexandra wearing one.
King Willem Alexander & Queen Maxima of the Netherlands - January Birthstone Multi Ring Garnet by Anna+Nina

Crown Prince Frederik & Crown Princess Mary of Denmark - Esme Galaxy Earrings by Dulong Fine Jewelry
Tumblr media
Princess Elisabeth of Belgium, Duchess of Brabant - Ruby, Pearl, & Blue Topaz Moon Earrings by Percossi Papi
Tumblr media
Sámi Parliament - Fápmu Earrings, Ring, and Necklace and Árbevierru Hair Clip by Erica Huuva
Tumblr media
Sámi Parliament's Youth Policy Committee - Komsekule (a traditional Sámi design meant to offer protection) Earrings and Necklace by Juhls Silver Gallery
Tumblr media
Norwegian Children and Youth Council - Coco Pearl Necklace by Biehl
Tumblr media
The Crown Prince Couple’s Foundation - daisy bracelet by Georg Jensen (They didn’t release a picture of this one and Georg Jensen makes several different daisy bracelets but I assume it’s one of the classic gold with white enamel styles like these.)
Tumblr media
Princess Ingeborg’s Pearl Circle Tiara was not included in the annual gift list which is only for public and official gifts not private ones but we know that it was given to her for her 18th birthday by Haakon, Ingeborg, and Ragnhild Lorentzen at the request of their mother, Princess Ragnhild.

Borgholm Castle, Sweden (No. 8)
Owner length
(year indicates when they have issued letters at Borgholm)
Magnus Ladulås 1285
In 1307, Borgholm and all of Öland fall to King Birger Magnusson when he enters into a settlement with his brothers.
Duke Valdemar Magnusson of Sweden moved in in 1316 with his Norwegian-born wife Princess Ingeborg Eriksdotter of Norway. After Nyköping's feast when Valdemar and Erik were killed, Ingeborg lived at Borgholm Castle until his death in 1356. [2]
Duchess Ingeborg issues letters in 1345 and 1346
Albert of Mecklenburg in 1367
Eric of Pomerania 1412, 1414
Nils Jönsson Oxenstierna, together with his brother-in-law Magnus Gren in 1436, who alone held the castle county until July 1440. In February 1440, Karl Knutsson began to besiege Borgholm, which Gren held, and in July of the same year the castle had to surrender. The Privy Council confirmed Karl Knutsson in October 1440 the castle and county for 20,000 marks, an amount that in 1441 was increased to 40,000 marks. Gren was again named chieftent at Borgholm no later than October 1457, until March 30, 1472.
Erik Eriksen (the elder) Gyldenstierne, in 1446 received Borgholm Castle with Öland in fiefdom in connection with the same year he married the future King Kark Knutsson's daughter Kristina Karlsdotter (Farmer) and was to transfer to Sweden. His family was originally from Jutland in Denmark, but became the progenitor of the Swedish family Gyllenstierna.
Karl Knutsson (Farmer) gave Borgholm with Öland to Magnus Gren for life in 1449. In 1448, Karl Knutsson, elected king of Sweden after the death of the Union king Kristofer, sat at Borgholm with his forces, and in July he sent Gren with 2,000 men to Gotland to besiege Visby and Visborg, where Eric of Pomerania sat. The island and Visby were conquered and in the end they agreed. Erik was to hand over Visborg in exchange for Borgholm and Öland, which county - which was Karl Knutsson's pawn county - Erik would hold to the hand of Charles and the Swedish crown. and left Gotland. In 1456, Oluf Axelsen took part in a siege of Borgholm, and upon taking over the castle in October of the same year, Erik Eriksen Gyldenstierne the Elder was abducted in Danish captivity.

How many relatives does the romanov have and what countries they are from, like I already know about them having relatives in greece , and denmark are their any more else? Just Nicholas romanov side not Alix's side of the family.
It really depends on how far back you want to go!
On the Russian side, Nicholas's II aunt Maria Alexandrovna married Queen Victoria's son Alfred. They had five children, and their four daughters married into the royal families of Romania (Marie), Spain (Beatrice), and some small German royal families (Victoria Melita and Alexandra), with one (Victoria Melita) even eventually marrying back into Russia after divorcing Alix's brother Ernie.
You might know Sandro, or Alexander Mikhailovich, who married Nicholas II's sister Xenia? Well, he had a sister, Anastasia Mikhailovna, who married into a German royal family. And then her daughters Alexandrine and Cecilie, became Queen of Denmark and Crown Princess of Prussia. These ladies were second cousins of Nicholas II. And there are lots of cousins through the Danish side! Nicholas II's mother was a Danish princess, and her sister married into the British royal family, so Nicholas II was first cousins with King George V. Obviously also first cousins with King Christian IX of Denmark (who married the Alexandrine from above). And then members of the Danish family also became kings in Greece and Norway, so Nicholas II was related to them, as well.
Nicholas II’s cousin Ingeborg of Denmark married into the Swedish royal family, and letters exist between her daughters and OTMA, and there are photos of at least one meeting between the families. One of those daughters, Astrid, later became queen of Belgium.
