thing is, i can see Lyanna namely him Daemon or Jacerys cause she's really annoyed and as such is making a statement. equally, panicking and naming him viserys. can't believe Aegon in any way (its stupid for many reasons), but Maegor is a straight wtf of a choice i cant even consider it in the running for that thought and naming targ kids directly after they're parents doesnt seem to happen unless its aegon (i think?)
off-topic, while i am a "jon snow's name is jon snow" believer, i also think it's really funny if jon snow has a dead name. as if you needed to trans code that boy any more.

@cchipollo
This is such an interesting AU since Q would make such a chaotic starfleet Captain yet also brilliant in his own rights. I think the Trial would be very interesting since Q here would maybe see the Trial as a great challenge and maybe even 'fun' especially since he gets to be with Picard and Picard is frustrated since this mortal is clearly not taking this as serious as he should.
Now, the first picture is interesting because Picard here does feel jealousy. But Picards jealousy either as a human or as Q would be such a subtle thing. Q is definitly offering Picard a threesome with Vash who is also on board with this.
Human!Q is already quite into Picard while Picard lives in denial at this point, considering they are dating in the last picture. Q has . nothing to lose here. He is in love/attracted to a godlike being and the godike being in question is not smting him for flirting with them. So, clearly he has a chance.
Maybe Q can even tell that the interest is not entirely onesided. But I can totally see Q!Picard having a list of reasons for why giving into this humans flirtations is a bad idea. For once, he is the Judge of Humanity and Q is the Representative so even if the Continuum does not really care, Picard would see it as a bit problemtatic due to the power imbalance, then there is the general difference between them in powers.
Deja Q in this AU is also interesting because the Continuum would kick Q!Picard out for a whole other reason than they did Q. Maybe because Picard goes too easy on other species and has repeatedly gone against Continuum orders simply because by his own moral code what they wanted him to do was wrong. Which would bring in the question as to what Picard would have had to do to becoma a Q again since self-sacrifice would be something the Continuum woudl have expected from him.
Picard would have the opposite problem on Qs ship than Q had on his. Partly because Picard as a Q at least somewhat respected the crew, a bit cold and arrogant but he is not the kind of Q that considers playing with mortals appropriate behavior for a highly evolved being. In tis Deja Q Au Picard would also not be put on the Brig with Captain Q maybe even offering to become roomates. Picard would also offer to make himself useful and assist the crew. Sil having problems with being turned into a mortal and having trouble adjusting and being a team player but it would be a bit easier on him than it was with Q mainly because the Enterprise crew is not all that hostile towards him. Considering the attraction/feelings are not all that onesided (last picture) I doubt that was how it went but I think it would be hilarious if turnedhuman!Picard actually wants to 'start over' and work for Starfleet/the Federation as a whole and does not want to spend the rest of his life on this ship with Q. Picard actually considers being thrown naked and utterly defenseless on the Enterprise as part of his punishment. And while Picard in Deja Q insisted for Q to leave, human!Q insists on Picard staying. Picard wants to be useful to humanity/starfleet/the Federation and how could he be more useful than by working on the flag ship. Besides, Q really has quite the need for Picard. Professionally. But also privatly. In case Picard finds himself changing his mind about a few things. The offer of sharing the captains quarters is still open. Just saying.
Picard gets back into the Continuum after nearly begging and promising that he is going to take the Continuums wishes more seriously from now because even if he may be feeling things for Captain Q that he really shouldn't in his opinion he is not okay with the thought of spending literally the rest of his life on Qs ship.
Q is lucky that Picard actually really ends up appreciating a long V-neck and revealing clothes even once he gets back his powers.
Honestly though, Q liking Shakespeare is canon to me although the nature of his appreciation for his dramas and comedies is different from Picards.
Nevertheless as far as I remember Romeo and Juliette kiss twice in that last act. Romeo kisses her before he kills himself and Juliette kisses him before she kills herself.
Q: Oh it is quite romantic for humans. Now, Johnny. How about we continue this? I know that you know the lines.
Picard:.. this is just an excuse for you to use my powers so you can have a starring role in a shakespeare play while also seeing me in a dress, proclaiming my none-existent literally suicidal love for you, and to play marry me and for us to kiss, isn't it?
You know what else would be hilarious? If the Q Continuum would actually want to turn Q into a Q. Partly because here they also want Picard to be distracted because even though after his run-in with mortality he has gotten better/less bothersome he still spoils the fun of other Qs every now and again if he thinks what they are doing is wrong. And Picard always manages to bring up the Continuum laws and he is frustratingly good at debating about them. So, turning this Q fellow into Q would not only provide entertainment but also force Picard to take care of any mess this new Q is going to cause.
And while canon Picard would not want to become a Q, I can see human!Q actually enjoying the thought of that much power and freedom and to be able to play with Picard on a more equal level. Q!Picard is not all that onboard on making Q a Q because while against his better judgement he has gotten attached to this mortal he can see that Q would make for quite the chaos causing trickster if given that power.

If tumblr had only read the books (and not been influenced by Joey Batey’s beautiful soft gay acting - thanksJoey darling ) then I guarantee it would PROBLEMATICAL™️ to the same extend that everyone is ripping into jkrowling. For instance Jaskier, our cinnamon roll, grabs a priestess in the first introduction without her consent. He does a lot of stuff that lets be real, doesn’t fly anymore because it’s ya know, harassment. And CIRI gawd she could have been our hot lesbian icon. She had her gfs name tattooed on her hip or something right? Oh but the authors kills off her gf. Kill your gays, everyone! So as much as I think the story is good writing, this is more why I like the show as far as ship material than the books.

Okay one last thing but is no one gonna mention how fucking problemtatic the smut was or....?
The virgin fics... or the perpetual idea of only a man being able to get you off.
That entire thing about Vince and matty and the manipulation written to seem sexy?

anyway as my final post on the subject, "nblw/nblm" is problematic because its meant for unaligned/neutral nb people, meaning it uses "nb" as a synonym for unaligned/neutral. "nonbinary" is not a synonym for those things, and this misconception gets us viewed and treated as a single third gender that is a middle point between male and female.
using "nb" as a stand in for only some nonbinary people, especially only unaligned/neutral people, is exclusionary, damaging, and perpetrates stereotypes. if you mean "unaligned/neutral," you need language that means it, insteading of coopting both an umbrella term that is meant for all of us, and a binary framework that has no business being used for unaligned people in the first place.
in fact i HIGHLY resent the implication that aligned nb people "took" nblm/nblw from unaligned people, as if we're any less nb, or just "w/m lite."
"nb" implicitly includes us, and claiming it was MEANT for unaligned people but got misunderstood only illustrates just how badly the term works.
not to mention using a whole umbrella for a broad spectrum of people as if it's a singular gender like man/woman.
"nonbinary" is not a singular gender, oppositional substitute to man or woman, like it gets treated when you sub mlm/wlw with nblw/nblm. it is an opposite to BINARY, that covers many genders with varying relationships to manhood and womanhood. m/w has overlap with many "nbs." you can't use "nb" as an oppositional substitute to m/w without perpetrating the misconception otherwise.
i don't mean the language of nblm/nblw is imperfect and problemtatic in the way that "everything is a little bit problematic and nothing is perfect," and I'm not just being nitpicky. i mean in the way that at some point we need to collectively work to change it. it does harm, and that matters, and people using the language currently "because of no other options" have a RESPONSIBILITY to be aware and critical of the flaws of the terms and their impact.
nblw/nblm would have merit if it was replacing "binarylw" or "binarylm," but it's not. it makes no functional sense and contributes to a culture that fundamentally misunderstands what being nonbinary is and projects a binary framework onto us in order to understand us. we don't need it perpetrated by our own people.
the simple facts are, "nonbinary" is not a synonym for "unaligned/neutral," and it cannot be used as a substitutional opposite to man/woman. if you say "nblw" or "nblm," it has to include ALL nonbinary people bc that's what nonbinary means.
but when you get down to it, i as an unaligned (but sapphic identifying) nonbinary person am going to have MORE in common with a binary wlw than a male aligned "nblw." it makes it a functionally USELESS categorization that perpetrates misconceptions and binary frameworks! anyone who finds it useful may claim one step forward, but you HAVE to acknowledge that in the long run for nonbinary people, it's also two steps back.
the genders aren't "male, female, nonbinary" they're "male, female, and countless others on a spectrum." nonbinary is opposite to BINARY, not man/woman, because any number of nb genders have overlap with man/woman.
thus using "nb" as a third substitute with m/w does not work.

anissa pierce.
i want to try and breakdown not just thundergrace but anissa specifically. you don’t have to agree or anything but if your going to respond please don’t attack.
ill start with anissa.
okay. anissa is the simplest most complex character on the show to me. calling her a fuck girl means you don’t understand her character at all. anissa is driven by emotion. she is so passionate about the things she believes in that sometimes the lines are blurred resulting in her making situations worse. but it’s important to understand that regardless of the outcome her intentions are pure. the writers and nafessa do a phenomenal job using expression and little to no dialogue at times to convey the internal and external conflict that anissa is dealing with in that moment. it is up to the audience to pick up on that.
these writers are so good at leaving characters, stories experiences etc open to interpretation because it helps keep the audience engaged. however it’s up to the audience to pick up on that and apply there interpretations to each character.
so yes you can interpret her as a “fuck girl” but at least have a valid argument as to why she is one because saying she can’t handle a relationship or be honest with her intentions are a reach being that you’re looking at it from a one dimensional aspect. we the audience knew what she was going through especially in season one. anissa developing and learning how to use her powers were NEVER about her. it was about what she could do with them to help others. so again that argument about honesty and intentions i can’t even take serious because i don’t understand how anyone watching this show can say anissa isn’t genuine in everything that she does.
now im gonna touch on two specific conversations from season 1.
those two conversations literally paint a picture so clear it’s annoying. when you take into account the conversation where grace says being a hero would be lonely and you’d have to hide everything from people you love. anissas facial expression and response was meant for the audience to understand that with all the chaos and confusion that was her life that was the moment she realized the sacrifices outweighed the benefits resulting in a change of heart for a moment questioning if this really was the life she wanted. again there was little to no dialogue needed to convey that message because her facial expression was meant to paint a clear picture of someone conflicted and essentially torn between 2 worlds.
now let get to romance.
i will admit initially the chenoa situation and what went down left a sour taste in my mouth until i got a better understanding of anissa. going back to the “fuck girl” slander she is anything but that. chenoa blatantly disregarded Anissa’s attempt to just speak to someone about what was happening with her and her powers. i don’t think she was trying to tell her she had powers but i feel like she just wanted to at least vent. and not feel crazy and the one person who i think she could speak to at the time was only chenoa because no one else knew what she was dealing with. so to ignore the fact that anissa broke a sink with her bear hands and suggests she see a therapist the look on anissas face told the audience everything we needed to know. in that moment the one thing that i agree she selfishly held onto was over.
not because of lack of effort or care but because of chenoas response. i know everyone says she didn’t take the relationship serious etc etc because of the fact that she had never been around anissas friends and family and to me there’s just not enough there to form and accurate argument about the relationship. what we do know is anissa held on selfishly and im going to be honest. if that was the one thing in my life that made sense i would selfishly hold on too. anyone who says they wouldn’t... that’s a lie. she is human regardless of her powers. as humans we tend to exhibit behaviors that dont accurately represent who we are in light of situations not in our control. Is that fair to other parties? no. but fact of the matter is it happens.
now onto grace.
first things first if you’ve seen my other texts posts it’s obvious i love these two together BUT anissa doesn’t and didn’t owe grace anything because they weren’t together. now going back to the two specific scenes i mentioned from season one im going touch base on the second one after grace was attacked. both of those conversations are intentional red herrings meant to be problematic and contradictory. it is meant to get the audience to realize in the face of adversity feelings and opinions etc change as evidently shown through dialogue with grace going from saying “being a hero would be lonely and we’re all just playing superhero’s” to without hesitation agreeing with anissa that if you had the power to take down bad guys you should. in that moment after being attacked she contradicted herself because well now the loneliness and hiding is worth it if it meant saving people from what happened to her that night.
the problematic and contradicting views now force the audience to go back to that initial conversation and current one and apply both sides to anissa. she is problemtatic and contradicting because she is torn between 2 worlds. one where she can do good using her powers discreetly to fight for justice and the community at any means without fearing for her life being that she’s essentially invincible and her loved ones, and another where she can still do good but not discreet resulting in putting herself and the people she cares about in danger.
she never wanted or intended to hurt grace. but i feel like the conversation after grace was attacked played a part in her ghosting grace because she’s even more conflicted. in that moment you can tell through her expression that she realized grace could have been alone when she got attacked and the situation would’ve played out much differently if she wasn’t there and used her powers. she didn’t know how to juggle both worlds. she didn’t feel like she could do enough good if she wasn’t being a hero.
so i feel like she ghosted her because that conversation is when she accepted the things she would have to sacrifice if this was the life she wanted to live. grace was one of those people. had she continued to entertain the idea of a relationship with grace while still dealing with everything she was going through then, it would’ve have been chenoa all over again. so instead she chose to focus on herself, getting her life together learning how to balance regular and vigilante life as opposed to stringing grace along for the sake of having someone. it so simple and obvious when you really pay attention to these characters. she was still learning and growing like she was 22 years old, in Med school on top of everything else that she was going through. removing people whether temporary or permanent had nothing to do with her being selfish and only caring about herself and her own feelings. it had everything to do with protecting the people in the community that she loves. she wouldn’t be able to do that without some sort of period where she tested her strengths, and knew her limits. if she couldn’t control her powers and didn’t know her strengths much like when she punched those boys and was terrified that one died because of how hard she hit him. in that moment she would’ve been just like the people she trying to get off the streets. ignorantly and irresponsibly going through life not being held accountable for their actions.
she simply chose to learn herself so that she could be the hero Freeland needed. it sounds so narcissistic but she genuinely cares about Freeland and the people. it’s not about oh she ghosted grace. or she just wants people at her convenience. no. it’s about the hidden meanings and reasonings behind why anissas character is the way that she is and does the things that she does. you have to pay attention to notice the little things because they are the most important parts of what makes anissa so special. she cares too much and its one of her biggest flaws simply because again she is driven by emotions resulting in her reacting as opposed to thinking things through. this character is just so special and as frustrating as she can be at times, shes self aware enough to know she didn’t have the time for a relationship because of what she needed to do for herself and in her eyes the community. if sacrificing parts of her life for others makes her a fuck girl then .... lol.

i used to feel like that too. but i realised that (and i'm sure you do too) celebs are people just like us. when i think back to all the problemtatic shit i've said before, how fuckin stupid and ignorant i've been, i just want to go back in time and punch myself in the throat. celebs are like that too. they say and do dumb shit too. the difference is that their mistakes get plastered all over the media. i think being objective and not judging or too far up their ass is a pretty healthy approach
i know! we as humans, change, learn, evolve. that’s what we’re designed to do. imagine how fucking boring and terrible life would be if we were just stuck with one mindset and one set of ideas for the rest of our lives?? jesus i dont even want to think about that. i’m pretty sure i’ve done problematic and stupid shit in the past, too, but i’ve grown since then. like you said, celebrities are people just like us and they grow and learn, understand new things and things they should/shouldnt say to the media. the media also has a knack for transforming and reversing what some people say and i honestly think thats one of the worst parts of it (im not saying that interview was edited, though!! brendon probably did say that) it must be painful to have your past mistakes constantly shoved back into your face, years later.
but, the thing is, i do try to have an objective approach. i know it may seem like i’m completely up brendon’s ass (and, tbh, at times i am. like rn it’s 3am and im emotional because im tired and i watched a kinky boots interview wtc) but if brendon ever does something majorly shitty (the only example that comes to my mind rn is cheating), i won’t forgive him. i won’t try to find excuses for him because cheating is something that i can’t.. i can’t just let it go. it’ll hurt me. i’ll feel betrayed. but i wouldn’t be like “nOO oit’s okay” just because i love him. and i do. i really do. i love him with all of my heart but i do not deify him. and that’s the most important part of any fan-celeb relationship, i think.

i thought id make a list of everything that im anti bc i dont really want people that support these things following me (although if u do u can still follow me just know that i wont follow u back). i also know that there’s many people who don’t want antis following them/don’t want to follow antis, therefore, i feel like this list will benefit all of us. if theres a line through something it means that im not 100% sure if im anti.
and please; if u support any of these things tell me so i can unfollow u, be respectful.
im anti:
reylo
its an abusive ship that centers around a hetero/white couple
thorki
its incest. do i even need to say anymore?
rey x poe
age difference
obi wan + anakin
incest?? anakin refers to obi wan as a father figure and obi wan refers to anakin as a brother
adam driver
islamophobic?
jeremy renner
again look it up. trans jokes, slut shaming.
winterwidow
i just dont understand how u can ship two people when the only interaction they ever had was fighting/trying to kill the other person
kylo ren
hux
and obviously do not follow me if you are racist, homophobic, transphobic, terf, merf, mysoginistc, misanderist, ablist, etc, etc. you will be blocked.
ill add to this as time goes on and please let me know if theres anymore problematic things i should know about. feel free to educate me!

Can u talk more abt y u dont like shadow hunters? Idrk anything abt it but a couple people i follow like it so im curious to see a second opinion
tbh I liked the book series when I was a younger teen and while I realize that it’s problemtatic(tm) now, most of the justification I’ve seen for why people like shadowhunters is...unconvincing at best. They take the non problematic nature of it and construe that as why its good, and that’s not necessarily true.
Basically, I don’t like the writing and the acting. Both I feel are subpar, especially the latter of the two. I’ve seen the first six episodes, probably? Because as I said, I used to really like the books, but I just couldn’t bring myself to watch any more of it. The changes they made were fine, but it wasn’t dynamic, I found none of the characters compelling, and I just didn’t care enough about the main characters to justify watching. As the post says, just bc something has representation doesn’t mean it’s good.
On the other hand, I can totally get why people like it based on that-- seeing yourself in media is great! It’s wonderful that these things are on tv! But Shadowhunters is really just not my cup of tea.
