Procreate is one of those drawing applications where I’ll have been using it for 6 years and then watch a video called like “Top 10 things you didn’t know you could do in procreate!” with the expectation that it’ll just talk about like creating a color palette out of a photo or something else I’m already aware of only for the person to detach the color wheel and drag it around the screen while drawing
[ID: Screen recording demonstrating the example above. The person recording detaches the procreate color menu, drags it around the screen, and then uses it to quickly switch between colors before closing it. End ID]

Note
which brushes do you use to get that painterly effect?
I use Procreate app on iPad and paint with Spectra brush with basic settings. It’s very comfy and easy to use. Blends nicely. Feels like a watercolor kinda, especially when you paint without lifting a hand.
I found it 2 drawings ago and fell in love already ❤️😌

p.s. feel free to ask me anything y’all! i love answering questions and helping 😌

[image description: digital painting of my two characters Silas and Mars. They're laying head to head. Silas has dark skin, round eyes and tight brown curls. He's wearing a non-descript shirt and has a stethoscope around his neck. Mars has light skin and brown hair with light streaks in it. He's wearing a hospital gown and an IV is connected to his left arm. A green light is shining on both of them.]

Drawing symmetrical shapes in Procreate
Short guide, also I’m assuming in this that you already know of and how to use the quick shape tool in procreate (draw shape -> hold -> quick shape)
For a perfect circle you draw an oval, hold to do the quick shape, and while holding tap on the screen and hold with 1 finger to snap to a perfect shape.
Tumblr media
Make sure that you let the pen (or finger) that drew the initial shape leave the screen before the one snapped it to a perfect shape or else it’ll revert.  You can do this to make perfectly symmetrical squares and triangles as well. When rotating them they’ll snap to a 15° rotation circle

This also works for the ellipse selection tool (but not the rectangle one)

Sorry for the low quality in the last two gifs, had to compress them

It's best boy's birthday in a few days, so I thought I'd do something special following up to it; I have a lot of sketches, drawings, doodles, and unfinished works--entirely Ovan centered--that I have had sitting in my ipad that I just never posted. I don't usually like to upload unfinished works or sketches but I'd like to start getting into the habit of it. Otherwise, they sit on my tablets and rot, and some of them are neat to look back on. Creative processes are fun to see!
Some of them are months old, others just don't have a date to really say how recent they were. Anyway, enjoy the light blog spam in the next few days as I gather all of these up and just dump them here.

October drawing challenge with the illusive @warriorbrevi : Vacation
Just in case this breaches containment: that's Maeve; I'm tentatively working on an AAI featuring Simon, and Maeve is essentially to Simon as Kay is to Edgeworth without the father-daughter(?) relationship. They're not each other's biggest fans :)

8/23 vs 10/21. I often feel as though I'm not improving much in my art especially as I have so little time lately to make it but uhhhhh yeah there's improvement. Proud of this one a lot.
And I think it's important to point out that I still really like the original. I like it a lot, and when I made it I was convinced it was my best piece yet. I see a lot of folks online degrading their previous works as "bad" but there's no such thing as bad art as long as you enjoy the creative process. But a personal improvement I've been striving for (and struggling towards) is producing a piece without line art, or rather using shapes and colors to create lines instead of relying on an actual drawn line. This is the first time I've been happy with the result and maybe since I'm banished from work with pink eye this week I'll have more time to practice
