🐙‼️OCTO ALERT‼️🐙
After a long bit, I finally finished the rest of the Octonauts! Enjoy more of my interpretations of them, and if you haven't seen my previous post about them, click here for Peso, Kwazii and Captain Barnacles!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In a world where most of the population consists of animal shifters, the Octonauts are a group marine biologists and activists who help bring attention to both the curious beauty of the Earth's waters and the harms that threaten its incredible ecosystems.
Tweak is the Octonaut's engineer, and she was the only member apart from the Captain himself who had been a part of the Octopod's original, hired crew. She's seen members come and go and had gone through the worst alongside her captain, yet her loyalty hasn't wavered even in the years she had served by his side. In fact, her love for adventure and marine life only seemed to grow as time passes. Apart from Kwazii- who she didn't fully trust at first, and rightfully so at the time- Barnacles considers her as someone he can put 100% of his faith in, and even the rest of their crew knows that she's someone they can truly rely on with anything.
Shellington is the Octonaut's scientist and was hired as their marine specialist. His colleagues would consider him a considerate man who's knowledge is only second to their founder, which sometimes scares the crew with just how much information he knows of any given animal. As for the Vegimals... Well, Let's just say that Shellington wanted to produce some food for the crew to keep them from surfacing every few months, and so, decided to start a greenhouse within the Octopod. Disappointed at the rate of which their goods are growing, he decided to "lend them a little help", though he instead finds himself becoming a father of 5 the following morning. He is now a full carnivore. He can't look at certain vegetables the same way again.
Dashi is the Octonaut's IT specialist and photographer, and so, often works alongside Tweak and Shellington (who she had been hired alongside) both on-field and within the Octopod. Though her knowledge on marine life can't compare to some of the other members, as a photographer she documents their missions, the creatures they had helped and occasionally files or publishes any new findings or updates regarding certain species. Prior to her work as an Octonaut, she was actually a well-renowned journalist who had earned several awards.
And, of course, how could I forget
Tumblr media
Professor Inkling is the Octonaut's renowned founder, and is one of the oldest shifters to date. He's a knowledeable octopus, and though most founders and CEOs would rather lounge comfortably for the remainder of their lives, Inkling enthusiastically works alongside his employees and even assists and advises them if ever needed.
Why is he the only member of the Octonauts who isn't part human? the artist thinks it was funny Well, some believe that he's from an older generation of shifters, raised in his animal form. It certainly has some merit to it, especially considering no one- not even the octonauts themselves- had even recognised his species.
Barnacles believes that Kwazii should show more respect towards Inkling and should stop muttering assumptions and theories with Dashi and Shellington.

A collection of things I’ve screamed into the void with mild hope that the void would scream back (it did. on several of these)

I am so sorry but every single word uttered here is canon to YLS’s already insane lore. yes even the one about Jack Skellington. yes even the one about Dimentio. yes even the one that ties into MSM/TBoCI. yes ESPECIALLY the one about Captain Barnacles.

Here we have the second showing of some redesigns!... Well, if you can call it that. You cant really see their outfits very well.. but anyhow! Here’s the new Inkling and Codish!
This drawing was based on a headcannon I have for these two. To make a long story short, Codish for several reasons likes to spend time with Professor Inkling. He has formed a strong bond with him overtime and there have been many occasions where the other Vegimals have gone looking for Codish, only to find him in the Library reading a book with Professor Inking.
I also must credit @thangone for allowing me to use their idea in my Vegimal redesigns! You cant really see it in this picture, but my Vegimal redesigns bear a more striking resemblance to their fish and vegetable counterparts. Which was thangones’ idea, an idea in which they allowed me to use! So thank you! :}

New Smash means new characters. And these Echo Fighters have some potential going for them. Here are a few on my end. Send me an ask in my Mod Blog with your suggestions and we can do a part 2.
First some rules.
No Characters with Echo Fighters already (No point in thinking about those that exist)
No Characters who have Fighters that share a move set (Dr. Mario and Falco may not be considered Echo Fighters, but they are the Ken to Mario and Fox’s Ryu.)
No Characters with alternate skins (they’re essentially Echo Characters who share the same spot)
Echos have to come from the same game unless exceptions (Fire Emblem has multiple Characters who could fight similarly to one another. Can you name someone else besides Mr. Game and Watch?
No Echos of Echos or Kens. (So don’t expect to see Luigi’s Echo).
Donkey Kong
The Big Ape that everyone loves. But because of his unique size and how varied his cast of characters can be, there are not many options for that. But I have two suggestions that could do the trick.
Funky Kong - He is already an Echo Character in Tropical Freeze. Use the surfboard instead of the DK Helicopter and you are pretty much done.
Classic Donkey Kong - He’ll be just Donkey Kong, only with his original look and original sounds. And in 3D. How cool would that be?
Samus
I know Dark Samus is a popular choice, but I can see that thing with its own move set. But if you want characters who play similarly to Samus but with some slight variations...
Metroid Hunters - As far as I know, the Hunters play similarly to Samus minus a few things here or there. Any one of them could be a clone or even have the Bowser Jr./Koopalings Treatment and have them all occupy the same character.
Kirby
He is going to be very difficult since I doubt anyone could really match Kirby. Bandanna Waddle Dee certainly can’t. But I think the closest would be another Player 2...
Gooey - In Kirby’s Dream Land 3, he plays just like Kirby. Just don’t make him copy enemy powers and boom.
Jigglypuff
The Balloon Pokemon. Honestly, there is only one choice for this one’s echo fighter...
Wigglytuff - Make it heavier hitting, less float-y, slower, and rest becomes a counter (because why not) and you got a Wigglytuff.
Bowser
Bowser is a tough one to figure out since a lot of who could it be can be easier as skins than their own characters (Dry Bowser and Rookie). But since no other character can fit Bowser, one of them will get an upgrade.
Dry Bowser - He has appeared on its own despite Bowser being alive and well.
Ice Climbers
This one is tricky since there isn’t many other characters in that series. But I think I have a more left field idea for a Echo Fighter...
Ice Climber - Basically just a single player version of them. Same moves as the original, only with a better recovery move that doesn’t require a partner.
Shiek
I think there is only one obvious choice for this...
Impa - She taught Zelda to become Shiek. Only fair to make her play like her.
Zelda
Zelda is going to be more tricky. Since I am not into the series as others, my choice may most likely be way out there.
Midna - No Imp form for her. Her actions maybe closer to how Zelda is in 4 than how she is in Ultimate.
Mewtwo
The Clone Pokemon. Not many Pokemon can be like Mewtwo. But I have two possible choices for them.
Shadow Mewtwo - We have Dark Pit, why not Shadow Mewtwo?
Mr Game and Watch
Now this is a tough thing to come up with. Its already basically every character in the franchise now. So for this one, we have to look outside. And the only other character I can think of to be a Echo Fighter...
Joy Mech Fight - You’ve seen one of them as an assist trophy in the new game (Sukapon). Have the character change into one of the Robots when doing moves and you have essentially an Echo for Mr. Game and Watch.
Meta Knight
There’s only one real choice.
Galacta Knight - Its like Meta Knight, only it is considered the Greatest Warrior in the Galaxy.
King Dedede
Masked Dedede was already in the game as a Final Smash. Let’s see who could match the King...
Clone Dedede - When in doubt, Evil versions.
Zero Suit Samus
Now this is going to be tricky. And my choice is more likely a more unique character, or at least a combination of the two...
Fusion Armor Samus - I could see it as a combination of the agility of the Zero Suit (probably slower and heavier) with the power of the original suit. But again, it sounds more like a more unique character than a true Echo.
Wario
It keeps getting harder and harder. Wario is so unique and Waluigi is definitely not Echo Fighter worthy to be Wario. But I think I found someone who can fit the bill.
The Shake King - His build is pretty close to Wario and they could always shrink him down like Ridley. And a lot of his moves can look more Pirate theme than Wario themed.
Snake
Lots of obvious choices. So I’m just going to pick four.
Big Boss/Liquid Snake/Venom Snake - Snake is a clone of Big Boss, Liquid is his brother, and Venom Snake was made to be a fake Big Boss.
Raiden - Raiden was made to replace Snake in Part 2. And He was made into a cyborg in Part 4. Imagine what would happen if Smash brought the classic Raiden while PSASBR has the Cyborg, imagine how that would sting.
Ike
Honestly, I don’t follow Fire Emblem. So my pick maybe weird to those who do.
Hector - Make his sword into an axe, remove the fire effects. And boom.
Pokemon Trainer
In this case, its going to be tricky since this is pretty much three different characters. So there is only one logical outcome.
Another Pokemon Trainer with different starter Pokemon - Which ones I don’t know, but this is the most logical step.
Diddy Kong
I know a lot of people are thinking Dixie Kong to be the clone, but as you see in the games she has a lot more uniqueness. Instead, I’m thinking a Kong who has been missing for a long time...
Donkey Kong Jr - Diddy was originally made to be DKJr but redesigned. Maybe give him a shot.
Sonic
This is so obvious I’m pretty sure you know who it is before I even...
Shadow
Lucario
Not into Pokemon like others, but there is one person I think could be a good Echo...
Blaziken - Its a fighting type like Lucario. And changing the effects from Aura to fire sounds simple.
R.O.B.
R.O.B. is an accessory, not a game series. But he is associated with a character...
Professor Hector - He is the character in all the R.O.B. Games. He could have a jetpack and weaponry to simulate R.O.B.’s moves.
Villager
Animal Crossing does have a lot of characters to choose from. But I think one of them has the best chance.
Isabelle - She pretty much is the mascot of Animal Crossing.
Mega Man
You know who it is going to be...
Proto Man
Rosalina and Luma
This is going to be tricky since I doubt a lot of characters can match her. Luckily Wario is technically part of the Mario universe...
Ashley and Red - She’s a witch so she could in theory mimic Rosalina’s abilities. And I bet Red is more abused than Lumas.
Greninja
Again, not into Pokemon that well. So for now I’m gonna skip it. Hopefully you guys can come up with something better.
Mii Fighter
They’re basically all Echo Fighters to each other.
Palutena, Robin, Shulk, Duck Hunt Dog and Corrin
These people would be tricky for me to figure out. So I’m saving them for part 2.
Pacman
Obvious choice is obvious.
Mrs. Pacman - While the original Packer is the household name, it was the Misses that made him so.
Ryu
Even though Akuma and Evil Ryu are good ideas, there is only logical choice.
Ken - He was an Echo Fighter before they were even a thing. Change a few attributes here and there and make his Final Smash both versions of his Super Dragon Punch. Vertical for just the Final Smash and Horizontal for holding forward.
Cloud
There is only one choice for Cloud’s Echo Fighter.
Zack - There would be no Cloud (in so many ways) without Zack.
Bayonetta
Another obvious choice.
Jeanne - A fellow Umbra Witch. Nuff said.
Inkling and Ridley
To me, they’re too new to get Echo Fighters. While others have some neat ideas, I’ll say no for now.
That’s what I have for now. If you have any other suggestions, let me know in my Mod Blog.

Reflective Essay
Essay under the cut
The main focus of this film was to be the editing, as post-production is the area I wish to pursue. With this in mind I focused less on aspects such as backgrounds and animation. I wanted a film that would be many different scenes of not quite still images cut together, rather than a fully animated piece. Moments is a film that tells the story of a robot in their final moments of life, remembering who they used to be as they slowly break down. The piece can be as deep as the audience wants to make it. At the surface level we see the robot remembering during some kind of war, they as a child were attacked and became the robot we follow throughout the film. Going deeper it explores the idea of AI evolving to overtake humanity and it towards goes into the notion of “what it means to be human”.
I wanted to focus mainly on the editing and postproduction of this film, being the area I want to pursue as a career, with this in mind I used two main ideas for the film, the first was to have little actual animation but to compensate have a lot of different scenes and shots. The second was to focus on the VFX, using different effects to show the robot breaking down, using several different effects to achieve a glitchy aesthetic and what I imagine a malfunctioning robot would see.
I’m still quite new to 2D animation as a whole, this being only the second film I’ve made in 2D. The art style for this film is reminiscent of my previous film in that it features similarly styled character design and it somewhat sketchy drawing style. However I did use a lot more colour for this film and experimented a lot more with backgrounds. It also features robots which is something that’s completely new to me.
There were a few basic ideas behind the designs of each of the characters. The main robot, who  I called RBT, was designed to look like someone living in a post-apocalyptic world, who just happens to be a robot, the addition of the gun arm shown towards the end of the film is to hint at RBT’s past as some kind of robotic soldier. The two other robots in the film, the Harvester and the Goliath, were designed with similar ideas in mind. They act as the sort of antagonists of the film, to show this I simply gave the red eyes to contrast with the light blue eyes of RBT. The ideas for the Goliath and the Harvesters were quite simple, the Goliath was to looking intimidating and the Harvester was to look creepy, the Goliath would tower over the city, trampling anything in its way, leaving RBT with no choice but to run. While the Harvesters would gently hover around the city streets, searching for god knows what and only revealing their hidden mass of tendrils and jaws once they find it. Obvious differences aside, I designed these two robots in a similar way, with one eye and round bodies, as well as using identical colour pallets, this was to better show that they’re related. The goliath design did go through some changes towards the end, based on feedback from my professor. Originally the legs were a lot more bendy looking, similar to the tendrils of the Harvester, these were changed to me a lot more rigid and mechanical looking, almost reminiscent of a spider in my mind. I actually like this look a lot more than the original as it feels more threatening, which is the main idea behind the Goliath’s design, in hindsight too, these legs would’ve probably been easier to animate than the original bendy legs that would’ve required frame by frame, I probably could’ve animated the new legs in the same way as the rest of my film is animated. The final character designs in the film are that of the girl and her bear, the ideologies for these two were simple, they were to be as small and innocent looking as possible to contrast RBT and the rest of the robots. Something about the big post-apocalyptic robot with a gun arm originally being a little girl with a teddy bear is quite fun, a teddy bear that, as revealed in the ending, RBT still carries, easily holding in one hand the bear that was a third the size of the little girl they used to be.
With all the character designs done, the final part to decide on was that of the setting, while the city goes unnamed throughout the film and there’s nothing to hint at an actual location. It is primarily inspired by American cities, specifically, Columbus, Ohio, as that’s where I took all the photos that I used as reference for my backgrounds. I felt that the towering skyscrapers and wide streets would give a better feel to the film than the streets of Newcastle for example.
The assets and such for the film were all drawn in Photoshop, which would then be exported and brought into After Effects where most of the animation was done. I used keyframes for all of the animation in the film, there was originally going to be some frame by frame which I’ll talk about later. A lot of the VFX work was also done in After Effects, before being imported into Premiere where I edited it all together and added sound and any extra VFX that might’ve been needed.
Sound was originally going to play a much larger part in my film. Used to show off various ideas. The eerie silence of the empty city, broken only by RBTs footsteps or the occasional Harvester, always beeping as they search endlessly for something that probably no longer exists. The roar of the Goliath accompanied by its immense footsteps echoing through the empty streets. All these to communicate either the danger of the robots or the empty loneliness of the abandoned city. The one sound unlike any other in the film is the one that leads the film’s opening, the sound of the radio, there’s a few reasons for its uniqueness, first and foremost it’s the only sound in the film that I created myself, originally a conversation between my friends and I that I ripped from a video and then distorted to the point of inaudibility. Secondly it’s the only part of the film that hints at some other survivors, a small inkling that RBT might not actually be alone. Before being destroyed by a passing Harvester. This scene is actually some loose foreshadowing, as revealed at the end, the radio isn’t the only thing in the film killed by a Harvester.
I faced a lot of problems in the development of this film, the main one being the global pandemic that began about a third of the way into production. This severely limited my access to much of the hardware and software I was originally planning to use. Firstly was the use of frame by frame animation mentioned earlier, I was originally planning to use some in my film, primarily on RBTs poncho and the legs of the old Goliath, however as I lack the proper software at home, I was unable to animate these, though I did end up redesigning the Goliath during my resit, I didn’t feel like it was a drastic enough change to warrant reexporting my entire film, something that my laptop only just about manages. The second problem I faced was that of the film’s sound design, as talked about earlier sound was originally going to play a larger part in the film, as it falls loosely into the post-production area that I want to pursue. However as I lacked a proper microphone, most of my sound was instead taken from the internet. The final and probably the worst problem I faced, is that I overestimated the capabilities of my laptop, Photoshop would slow down constantly, drastically increasing the time it took me to draw assets and both AE and Premiere would crash constantly, the biggest problem with this being that it limited the amount of VFX I could use as adding too many or even adding some in the wrong order would cause an error and in worse cases cause the programme to crash entirely. Fortunately one of Adobe’s better features is that it does try to save your work on crashes, this alongside me saving manually every time I paused to take a breath meant that most of the time I didn’t lose any work and even in the worst cases only lost a few minutes.
My first attempt at this module failed, while I think it’s fair to at least partly blame the lockdown, it was mostly my own fault. The main problem with my previous submission was the lack of supporting work. So that is what I focused on for these past few weeks. I still have the same feelings about the final film itself as I did in my first submission, simply being that it’s not as good as it could’ve been, but given the unique circumstances it’s the best I could’ve done. That said, I’m satisfied with what I’ve managed to add during my resubmission the supporting work this time around is far better than what I did last time.

Another Casualty of the Coronavirus: Summer Internships
For millions of college students, internships can be a steppingstone to full-time work, a vital source of income and on-the-job experience that leads to future employment, have been upended by the pandemic, as jobs have been reduced or now done remotely. If you were responsible for your company’s annual internship program, what would you do: (1) rescind offers and cancel all summer internships, (2) redesign them to be done remotely, (3) defer internships to the fall or next year, (4) skip the internship and offer full-time job after 2021 graduation, or (5) something else, if so, what?
When she found out in mid-March that she had landed an internship with an education nonprofit in Washington, Lydia Burns, a senior at the University of Louisville, called her mother to celebrate. The whole world was falling apart, but here, finally, was good news.
“Mom, guess what?” she said. “Things are amazing!”
The euphoria lasted all of a week. As she worked on a paper the next Tuesday, Ms. Burns got an email from the nonprofit: The internship was canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic. She burst into tears.
“I feel like I had such a strong plan,” she said. “I knew what I was going to do — I had been working for it all of college. Now I don’t know what I’m going to do.”
For millions of college students, internships can be a steppingstone to full-time work, a vital source of income and even a graduation requirement.
But like so much else, summer internships have been upended by the pandemic, with a wide range of major companies, including tech firms like Yelp and entertainment behemoths like the Walt Disney Company, canceling programs and rescinding offers.
Students who had locked down internships as early as September are now jobless. Others who had hoped to experience an office setting for the first time are instead looking for work at fast-food restaurants. Many low-income undergraduates, already saddled with student loans, are concerned that a jobless summer could put them at a disadvantage in future application cycles, making it harder to find full-time work after graduation.
Some companies are continuing to pay interns to work from home, sending corporate laptops in the mail and holding get-to-know-you sessions over Zoom. But students fear that remote internships will not afford the networking opportunities that can make spending a summer in an office so valuable, especially for interns who have few professional contacts.
“You pick up a lot of subtle clues about how to behave in that profession, how to communicate like an engineer, how to work in teams like a nurse,” said Matthew Hora, an education professor at the University of Wisconsin who has studied internships. “Students are going to be missing that.”
Cassandra Dopp, a junior at the University of South Carolina, felt the effects of the pandemic earlier than most American college students: She was studying abroad in Rome when the coronavirus swept Italy.
Ms. Dopp, a business major, returned home in March and was set to work for Geico this summer at the company’s headquarters in Fredericksburg, Va. But as she sat in her childhood bedroom last month, Ms. Dopp got a call from a human-relations official at the company, who informed her the internship was canceled.
Many of her friends had already gotten similar calls. But Ms. Dopp has always prided herself on keeping organized and planning for the future. Now, she has no idea how she’ll stay occupied after final exams, let alone what she’ll do in July or August.
“I’d never put myself in this position to not have a plan for my summer and my future,” she said. “It was a big letdown. It’s disappointing.”
In a statement, Geico said its summer program rotates interns through multiple departments to expose them to different facets of the company. “Unfortunately,” the company said, “this experience was not possible in our current remote working environment.”
Many of the cancellations stem from those kinds of logistical challenges, or from cost-cutting at companies that are reeling from the economic damage of the pandemic. In other cases, students were hired to work at sports venues and political conventions, or help organize events that have been canceled.
Keri Johnson, a journalism student at Ohio University, landed what she described as a “dream” internship writing marketing material for the Nelsonville Music Festival in Ohio. Then the festival was canceled, along with many other cultural events, like South by Southwest.
Ms. Johnson has to intern for at least 200 hours to earn her journalism degree in the fall. With the festival canceled, she’s concerned she will have to push back her graduation, making it harder to find a job and putting financial strain on her family.
“Summer is the time I get to work as much as possible because I’m not in class,” Ms. Johnson said. “It’s kind of scary thinking about the fact that I won’t be able to work in the summer as much as I normally would.”
The cancellations have cut across virtually all industries, from media to technology to finance. But predictably, the industries that have suffered the most during the pandemic — travel, retailing, hospitality — have had especially large numbers of cancellations.
Connor Machon, a sophomore at the University of Texas at Austin, accepted an internship at American Airlines in late September, turning down several other offers. He got his first inkling that the program might be in jeopardy when a friend who was set to work at Southwest Airlines had an offer rescinded in March.
A few days later, he learned that his internship was also being cut. Over the next weeks, Mr. Machon kept busy applying for dozens of other positions and sending more than 100 networking emails. Ultimately, he secured an internship at a start-up in Austin, earning $15 an hour.
“At this point, I was really open to anything, as long as I was being paid,” he said.
Not all internships are canceled. A number of banks and technology firms have simply shortened their programs by a few weeks. Media organizations like The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal gave some summer interns the option of deferring until the fall or next year.
Offering perhaps the sweetest arrangement is the New York law firm Cahill Gordon & Reindel, which announced in April that the incoming summer associates would not have to work but would still be paid and still receive full-time offers after their graduation in 2021.
Other companies have moved their internships entirely online. In early April, a recruiter at eBay, Cindy Loggins, presented a series of options to top executives, like shortening the program or holding it remotely.
Given all the uncertainty, a total cancellation was also a serious possibility. “You’d be silly not to consider that as an option,” Ms. Loggins said.
In the end, the company moved the internship online. But a remote program presents certain logistical difficulties, like combating “screen fatigue” and devising work schedules for interns who live in different time zones.
To address any problems, Ms. Loggins said, her team plans to conduct weekly check-ins with each of the interns, rather than the midpoint and end-of-program meetings eBay has held in the past. But some rites of passage will be impossible to replace.
“Perhaps I’m getting up to go somewhere and the intern says: ‘Hey, where are you going? Can we grab lunch?’” Ms. Loggins said. “That’s what we’re going to miss in this summer.”
Many students will also miss the chance to spend a couple of months in the real world, away from the cloistered environment of a college campus.
Irene Vázquez, a junior at Yale, is interning for a small publisher based in New York. Months ago, Ms. Vázquez had envisioned the summer as a test to “see if the whole East Coast tiny apartment thing was going to be viable down the road.” Instead, she’s going to spend the summer working remotely from her childhood home in Texas.
“I could be much worse off,” she said. “But it’s certainly not the experience I had planned.”

BEAVENS TO HETSY—YA’LL HOW THE FUDGE DO I HAVE A 100+ FOLLOWERS ALREADY????? I AM SO EMOTIONAL RN IT’S NOT EVEN FUNNY. IMMA GO CRY NOW GEEZ!!! (Go check out the 100 Goal poll before it ends. I’ve decided to wait the 3-4 days that it has left on there before I make anything, just to make sure everyone got a chance vote)
Thank you for you patience @kuri-kushmi ! I know you were really excited for this one, I hope I did our lovely Peggy justice!
Notes:
Yo is that young Inkling???? Whaaaaa????
Had a mutual threatened me when I sent a pic of Peggy crying. They were about to throw down, but its okay Peggy has tissues now. Her trauma is forever healed because of good vibes . . . yep thats how that works :)
I also wanted to preface this just in case I had any other asks that may be similar. Just because it hasn’t happened before doesn’t mean it won’t happen in the future. The story has yet to be completely written so there is plenty of room for extra stuff to be added. I literally don’t even have a chapter written out . . . we’re working on it . . . maybe . . . I’m trying but my brain doesn’t want to brain! (stupid ADHD) I’ve been doing this for almost 12 years why can’t I writeeeeeee???
I should not have adult money . . . no I will not explain ur welcome
