Facebook on Thursday announced its first-ever gaming event 'FB Gaming Press Start' in India.

Spread across two days, the virtual event will be hosted by comedian Abish Mathews and will allow game developers, publishers, and creators across India an opportunity to build, grow their communities, and monetize on Facebook.

The FBGamingPressStart event’s opening address will be made by Gio Hunt, VP of Gaming Business and Operations, Facebook, Ajit Mohan, Managing Director, and Vice President, India, and Manohar Hotchandani, Business Development Director, Facebook.

TikTok May Return To India As "TickTock"

As per the latest report, TikTok’s parent company ByteDace has filed a trademark for the short-form video app with the Controller General of Patents, Designs, and Trade Marks. The report states that the trademark application for TikTok has been filed with the title “TickTock” dated July 6. There are speculations that TikTok might follow PUBG’s footsteps to relaunch the app in India with the new name.

The application was first reported by tipster Mukul Sharma on Twitter. The trademark application has been filed under Class 42 of the Fourth Schedule to Trade Mark Rules, 2002 meant for “scientific and technological services and research and design relating thereto; industrial analysis and research services; design and development of computer hardware and software.

Parent company ByteDance hasn’t revealed any detail on the relaunch of TikTok as of yet. Several reports and rumors circulating on the internet suggest that the company is in early talks with the government of India. ByteDance was recently also assured to work to comply with the new IT rules.

Netflix Is Planning To Add Video Games In Streaming Platform Within Next Year

A report this spring from The Information said that Netflix was seeking an executive to lead its push into gaming, intending to offer an Apple Arcade or Xbox Game Pass-like subscription bundle. Now, as first reported by Bloomberg, the streaming company has hired Mike Verdu as its vice president of game development, reporting to COO Greg Peters.

According to Bloomberg, Netflix could offer games right next to its other streaming content “within the next year” listed as a new genre just like documentaries or anything else, without charging extra for the experience.

Verdu is a former exec who has experience with mobile gaming companies like Zynga, ran EA Mobile for a year, and most recently has been working at Facebook acquiring a series of Oculus game developers like BigBox VR, maker of Population: One.

Netflix gaming forays have included interactive features like Black Mirror: Bandersnatch and Carmen Sandiego and licensed games including a Stranger Things title for mobile devices. It also currently has a few job listings for positions producing and leading interactive products, postings that don’t mention the word gaming, but show it’s staffing up with people who have the experience necessary to help that division get off the ground.
