Thought For The Day |Day 16|

I think I’m doing fine.

I just got home from Christian Life Programp (CLP) so that I can transition from being a YFC to an SFC. We had Talk 9 ealrier which was about receiving the gifts of the Holy Spirit. 

It was time for the pray over. My discussion group leader led me to the room where us participants get to be prayed over by our leaders. I sat down and she and her partner asked my if I had any additional concerns that I wanted to pray for. 

We started off by doing the sign of the cross. Her partner touched my shoulder and started the prayer. When my leader touched my other shoulder, I suddenly felt something - it wasn’t a chill of some sorts, more like as if something washed over me, that kind of feeling. 

“Whoa. This is new. This is weird.” was what came out of my head.

As they were praying for my concerns and the gifts from the Holy Spirit that I wanted to receive, I started to feel tears coming out. I honestly thought I wouldn’t cry. When the whole thing started, I was composed and ready. I didn’t feel any doubts or whatever. It felt nice to have people pray for you and your concerns in a very sincere way.

And then, it happened. It was so unexpected and overwhelming. 

I felt Him. 

The feeling was like a when a pie is thrown at your face. But, instead of a pie, it was His love. yeah, not the best metaphor but I don’t know how else to describe it. It felt as if God blasted me with so much love that I’ve never felt before. It as weird - and new. 

The prayer ended and I found my eyes watery from the tears. I went back to my seat, closed my eyes and tried recalling what just happened.

And then, I cried. I cried so hard. I wasn’t bawling or anything. My tears won’t stop from coming and I just cried. In my head, I was just like, that was great. It was really great. 

“I love you”. I heard that in my head. I don’t know if it was from me but it just came out of my head like a thought.

Those words really hit me hard. I felt loved and appreciated. I felt affirmed. The love that I didn’t get from my parents (don’t get me wrong, my folks love me and stuff, but this kind of love that I felt at that moment was so different), or my brothers or even my friends - the love that I was yearning for - He just gave it to me. These past months I’ve been wanting a boyfriend and my reason is that I want to feel appreciated. I didn’t realize until now that the love that I was looking for was His love. He has most probably given me all the love He can give, it’s just that I’ve been too ignorant to acknowledge it. After realizing that, I recalled everything that happened to me this past year. 

After being an irregular student, He gave me so many opportunities: 

I got to spend my summer in Brunei where I got to hangout with my best friends!

I wasn’t alone in my new batch since I had good friends with me there

I competed in a research competition wherein I presented my group’s research for PrevMed and even became champion during the preliminaries!

I joined the school’s first ever track team and competed in Palarong Med for the first time. We didn’t win but it was all worth it

I earned profit from selling stamps to my classmates

I had time to be with my family and see my grandparents

I met new people and made new friends

Most importantly, I got the chance to join SFC. 

Recalling all these blessings at that moment didn’t help in stopping the tears. One of the service team members gave me a glass of water to help calm me down. I did. 

I was just listening to the band playing worship songs and opened my eyes. 

I was good. I was okay.

"You did well”

I suddenly heard those words in my head.

“잘했어”. “내딸, 잘 했어.” As I heard those words, it felt as if He was patting my head while saying them - something like a scene from kdramas.

The words kept coming and I cried again. I couldn’t seem to stop myself. I just found myself taking of my spectacles and wiping off my tears. His words just kept coming.

“You did great. You went through a lot.” 

“I’m proud of you”

“You’ll be a great clerk.” “You’ll be a great doctor.”

Those words just kept on repeating again and again. It was overwhelming. I felt so loved.

It felt as if he was reassuring me that this extremely difficult chapter has come to an end and that I should be excited for the next to come. 

The experience that I just went through, to be honest, I can’t really express how I felt at that moment with 100% good quality. All the things that I’ve written down are just from what I can remember. All I know is that the feeling that I have right now, I will remember it.
