ULTRAMAN Suit Another Universe Extra: Maniacs
Tumblr media
This guidebook covers most existing content for the ULTRAMAN SUIT Another Universe project (still ongoing in the form of ULTRAMAN Be Ultra, although I haven't seen any new content promoted recently, and new figures still to come from threezero), and is the official collection of the Extra Edition stories, but contains a couple of new USAU stories within.
Episode Universe
Tumblr media
Fujimiya Hiroya, who obtained the light of earth, created the ULTRAMAN Suit AGUL, and believed it to be the earth's will that humanity be destroyed. He clashed many times with Takayama Gamu, who also received the light of earth but believes in a different way, and fought him using the ULTRAMAN Suit GAIA, after numerous battles Fujimiya has updated the AGUL Suit to a V2 version. He now intends to awaken a horde of Kaiju.
Daigo, TIGA, appears from another world and tries to convince him to reconsider his actions, but Fujimiya views him and GAIA as cancers, whose idealism keeps them from doing what is needed, and attack using his Agul Saber but TIGA takes an advantage. Rather than attacking he opts to show Fujimiya of the world he aims to create, by showing him his own world's history, destroyed by the darkness, and the allies he made who helped him overcome the darkness, and he then set out to visit other worlds to help them too.
Yuzare shows Fujimiya a vision of a world where the wearer of the MEBIUS Suit fights along allies while challenged by the wearer of the HIKARI Suit, and both clash with an emperor of darkness. In another world a novice in the ZEARTH Suit rides a mechanical Kaiju, and in another world the MAX Suit wearer fights darkness. All of these worlds are threatened by the darkness, and ULTRAMAN is there to stand against it.
Both suit's crystals resonate, and Daigo leaves him. Affected by the experience, Fujimiya looks out at the sunset, and vows to protect the beauty of the world, as GAIA approaches, asking him to help him fight the darkness.
Sacrifice
Himeya Jun has come to photograph an old ballet school in Munich, leaving Sera in her certain country. He has been having new visions of devil sacrifices there. He is confronted by Olga, a woman who claims to be a teacher, and witnesses the girl from his visions among the students. The girl, Stella, asks him for help, with her friend, Jessie, who went missing.
Unfortunately, when he investigates a mysterious space, he finds both girls dead, as well as Olga, and has a vision of Principal Rudou leading the sacrifice. Then he realises the sacrifice was performed twice, once on students, then on teachers, and he remembers the sacrifice that brought Gatanazoa, and Stella appears, possessed by Bishimar, another entity brought from another realm, it deliberately lured him, a Deunamist, here, so it could possess him.
Tumblr media
In South America, Daigo senses what is happening to Himeya, but he cannot risk leaving the infant Yuzare to go to him. Willing Himeya to hold strong, the gem on his cufflink glows, and travels to Himeya, on his bracelet, forcing Bishimar away.
The image of TIGA Suit appears to Himeya, but the armour that appears is different, Non EXistential Ultraman Suit, NEXUS.
Tapping into his martial arts knowledge, he transforms the suit into a red colouration. He fights off and defeats Bishimar, declaring he is ULTRAMAN.

If anyone wants to know the order of all Ultra series in existence. Here you go
Tumblr media
Some additional notes:-
- ULTRAMAN (anime) Season 2 aired after Trigger. Season 3 is set to air after Decker
- I’m not including the Ultra Galaxy Fight series but they aired alongside or after Taiga, Z and Trigger respectively
- There’s also the Heisei Ultraseven series. I didn’t include these because A) it’s too hard to differentiate and B) they are a BUNCH of separate TV Special projects. The first one aired between Great and Powered, and the last alongside Cosmos
- Great, Powered and Zearth did all release in Heisei but I’m counting them as part of Showa so Tiga is the start of Heisei. A lot like how multiple Riders are counted as Showa despite releasing in Heisei

Heya! Sorry for the lack of reblogs and content, but life has been chaotic lately, as would be expected lol. Anyway, these gifs are the first bunch from an incredible map called Project Zearth that @xoyjaz contacted me about!
Project Zearth has been in development for about 10 years, and now holds an almost impossibly huge world containing regions, cities and districts full of life! These shots are from the first place you’ll be led to after the introduction, Zeon City! Specifically in Oracle Town and the National Park!
It’s an amazing map to explore, honestly! You can’t look inside a building twice without seeing something new! I’ll be posting a lot more stuff from Project Zearth in the future, so check out the map on Planet Minecraft or Minecraft Maps if you’re up for an adventurous exploration!

Do you know how profitable Gaia was? Considering how ambitious the show was, it must’ve cost a lot of money to produce.
Hi!
Ya I know how profitable Gaia was that's why I literally said so in the last post lmao
iirc the summary of the yearly earnings correctly:
1996: Tiga series and Zearth 1st Movie, 6.9m
1997: Dyna Series, Dyna Movie and Zearth 2nd Movie, 14.6m
1998: Gaia Series, 14.7m
1999: Gaia Movie, 15.2m
2000: Tiga Movie, 8.4m
2001: Cosmos Movie 1 and Cosmos Series, 6m
2002: Cosmos Movie 2 and Neos, 9.4m
2003: Cosmos Movie 3, 4.8m
2004: Nexus Movie and Nexus Series, 3.1m
2005: Max Series, 5.9m
2006: Mebius-related installments, 3.9m
2007: Seven X and Monster Galaxy S1, 3.6m
2009: Zero related installments, 4.3m
2010: Zero Movie 2, 3.1m
2012: Saga Movie, 1.8m
So based on the numbers, u can definitely see why TsuPro decided to take certain steps at certain points with the Ultra N Project and all
But these are essentially the Heisei numbers and Gaia remained the absolute uncontested peak of TsuPro's performance
And for those interested, here are the numbers for the New Gen:
2013: Ginga S1 and 3 OVAs, 2m
2014: Ginga S2, 1.9m
2015: Ginga S Movie and X Series, 2.6m
2016: Orb related installments and X Movie, 4.3m
2017: Geed Series, Orb Movie and UFO, 6m
2018: Geed Movie and RB Series, 6.9m
Can't rmb the 2019 number lol
But yeah, literally no installment in the past 20+ years ever came close to hitting the numbers for the Gaia series alone which really goes to show just how popular Gaia was
But of course with the uptick in sales recently, hopefully TsuPro can go back to producing even better content
Thanks for the question!

so ive been exploring project zearth and its a very cool map and all with details in every aspect and its super neat to discover the secrets and all but like
is nobody gonna discuss the racism at all? i literally found several signs that use the n-word, hard R. and within the same building i found some SUPER antisemetic signs. PLUS there are multiple uses of the f-slur throughout the entire map

The Great Anime Rewatch of 2022 - Part IV
Bokurano
First watched/read: October 2011 Rewatched/reread: June 2022
Original rating (manga): 9 New rating (manga): 6
Original rating (anime): 8 New rating (anime): 6
Of all the Evangelion-spawns, I distinctly remember liking Bokurano the most. I also remembered that the anime and manga are two very different creatures, but only one crucial change stuck with me these last eleven years. So I ended up revisiting both versions. Let’s start with the manga, since I know I liked that version more back in 2011.
One of the things I realized is that Bokurano’s storytelling doesn’t work on me anymore. We only learn everyone’s backstories after they’re selected to be the next pilot, giving us only a few chapters to get to know each kid. For a lot of people, this is a surefire way for an emotional gut punch. But I still feel like I don’t know them well enough to care. Bokurano also doesn’t exactly focus on the relationship the kids have with each other, and I wish it did. It also doesn’t allow the cast to grieve or cope with the continuous losses of their friends. There were also a couple of things that really rubbed me the wrong way and/or felt very dated. I.E. Maki’s tired ass story of trying to be more feminine, and the author putting her in the most inappropriate-borderline fetishy leotard. Don’t do that shit. Onto the anime.
It’s always interesting when a director is helming a project where they have no love for the source material. — Bokurano’s anime took more time with the kids and their backstories. A lot of them changed, and some got way more screentime than others. But it occasionally fixed the problem I had with the manga—the one where it didn’t focus on the relationship between all the main kids. This was exemplified in episode 11, where all the female pilots got together in one scene. It was small, but it’s more things like that that I wanted. It still doesn’t allow the pilots to grieve/cope over the continuous losses, but at least the cast interacts more.
On the other hand, it adds a lot of generic nameless politicians talking about Zearth that I’m sure no one actually cares about.
Unsurprisingly, the CG doesn’t hold up at all. The music was often distracting, and some of it was just bad. The bookend songs by Ishikawa Chiaki are still great though.
Looking at both versions of Bokurano, my opinions on them clearly worsened. The manga is more focused, but formulaic. The anime spends more time on the group dynamic, but has lots of padding with politics and added characters I don’t care about. I’d say the anime over the manga though, since the two final pilots get way better endings than their manga counterparts. But overall, I just feel the same way about both, with no clear winner. And that’s kind of sad.

Steins;Gate
First watched: 2011, original airdate Rewatched: June 2022
Original rating: 8 New rating:  7
Let me start with this: the archetype and term “trap” is woefully outdated and transphobic. I haven’t been involved with the anime/manga fandom in many moons, but I hope that the term is no longer used. Hopefully the derogatory interpretation of the archetype is also on its way out, too. Onto the assessment.
Time travel stories are almost always about trying to fix the mistakes the time traveler made by accident. Steins;Gate is no exception, but this time a portion of the cast is actually intelligent: Kurisu, Daru, Suzuha, and, most importantly,  Okabe.
Okabe is such a strong protagonist and he’s a joy to watch. Watching his mad scientist persona merge with his actual self as he jumps back in time more and more is terrifying and I love it. Since Steins;Gate is a VN adaptation, we’re pretty much glued to Okabe’s POV for the entire show. I don’t mind since he’s great, but it leaves no room to see any of the other cast members on their own, or interacting with each other when Okabe isn’t around.
The other issue is that there are only a couple of other characters who are remotely interesting: Suzuha and Kurisu. Both of these girls have personalities and agency within the story. Suzuha has one of the strongest motives in the show, second to only Okabe. Faris and Ruka have understandable and relatable desires, but as characters they are throwaway. Moeka is the worst to watch—a girl so damaged that she’s a slave to someone she doesn’t know and only communicates with via texts. Daru is an otaku archetype and ruins his only emotional moment with his own pervertedness.
And Mayuri…oh, Mayuri. She has no wants, goals, and little agency. I had absolutely no reason to care about her, and never understood why Okabe cared about her to such a great extent, aside from being childhood friends. The birth of Okabe’s mad scientist persona could’ve easily been changed to be a coping mechanism for his own grief.
The weakness of of being a harem VN adaptation really showed from episodes 17 and 18, when Faris and Ruka were throwing themselves at Okabe, and he was going on dates in back to back episodes. Of course Okabe genuinely likes both of them as friends, but he only did it so he could get them to willingly undo their own actions. For Faris, this means losing her dad, who died in an accident ten years ago. Faris loses all that time with her father who loves her, while the man himself never survives and sees his daughter grow up. In Ruka’s case, it means not being female anymore, and going back to being a boy. Imagine asking a trans person to go back to their pre-transition self. That’s really not it for me, chief.
I really dislike the idea of someone trying to make others sacrifice their own happiness for the sake of one childhood friend/moeblob. “But wait, it’s also to prevent SERN from achieving world corporate domination!” Yes, it is. But Okabe specifically states he’s not doing all of this to save the world—he’s doing it to save Mayuri.
Steins;Gate is a slow and deliberately paced anime. I had forgotten some of the reveals, and a lot of them still work. Its slow pacing also started to tire me out by the latter half. Overall, Steins;Gate is still one of the best VN adaptations out there. Its animation still looks fine, and the storytelling is more than competent. But the lack of depth/nuance in most of the cast, and the message of robbing others of their own happiness to save one person really does the show in.

Un-Go
First watched: December 2011, original airdate  Rewatched: June 2022
Original rating: 7 New rating:  5
I don’t have a lot to say here. The first two episodes are absolute garbage, while the rest of the mysteries are fundamentally uninteresting. All of the world building with the war didn’t work for me, and I couldn’t care less about the characters. Inga’s power feels more like a a video game mechanic than anything.

Outlaw Star
First watched: I have no idea Rewatched: June 2022
Original rating: 8 New rating: 3
This one hurts.
Outlaw Star feels like an embodiment of 90s anime, for better or for worse. The character designs and tropes are all things that feel like relics. (Aisha Clan Clan in particular.) There are lots of things that didn’t age well, like Fred. Wow, what a terrible gay stereotype character. But Outlaw Star is plagued with a lot of foundational problems:
The story and pacing - The first four episodes are undoubtedly the strongest in my opinion. Quick pacing and lots of intrigue surrounding Hilda, the coolest character in the show. Then after episode four, when Hilda leaves the story, the tone and pacing are all over the place. I guess the central conflict was getting to the Galactic Leyline and discovering Melfina’s origins. But there’s a huge gap in the middle section where nothing relating to either of these things is brought up at all. It’s like the writers had a bunch of ideas on a dartboard and picked whatever they landed on. Most of the episodes have nothing of consequence occur. If something important does happen, it only takes up a few minutes of a full length episode. (I.E. Episode 18: we get some talk about the Galactic Leyline and the man behind Hilda’s death, and then we go to cringy space wrestling? What?) This leads into the other main problem I have:
The characters - the central five cast members are not strong enough to carry the story when nothing of interest is happening. Their antics are dull, and we don’t really learn anything about anyone. Gene conquered his fear within the first third, and Melfina wanted to discover her origins. As for Jim, Suzuka and Aisha? I don’t know enough about their wants, needs, or fears to care. Aisha is a walking, talking stereotype, and Suzuka doesn’t fare much better. (Neither does Melfina, honestly.) No one really has an arc or tangible development. AH WHY? Why did we all think this was the coolest shit back then?
With all that negativity out of the way, I have to say I still really enjoy the music. The opening song is still an absolute banger, and the ending songs are still lovely. But if the opening and ending are where my enjoyment peak, that’s not a very good thing. Nostalgia absolutely did not cloud my judgement here.

Nothing airing this week, let's talk Dogengers.
I've decided to give my thoughts on the first season of Dogengers alongside the rebroadcast, since I didn't cover it at the time. There should then be a 2 week break before the second season starts, which I will use to cover episode 12.5. Is with that said, as the Episode 0 stage show is on their YouTube, we'll look at that shall we?
To start with, when talking about Dogengers, we first have to talk about Local Heroes. In other comedy/parody hero works, like Kamen Norider, Hikonin Sentai Akibaranger, Kanpai Senshi After V or even Ultraman Zearth or Nice, the focus is on a new character created to parody an existing series, and references to Sentai, Rider and Ultra are so prevalent in Japanese media that you could watch most of these without having ever watched an episode of the original property and still understand what is being parodied. However, with a couple of exceptions, the characters of Dogengers are not new characters, several of them have careers spanning years as local heroes, or indeed villains, and continue to act in this capacity after the first season.
Probably the most famous Local Hero in western fandom, at least before Dogengers happened, is Sea Jetter Kaito, local hero for Ishinomaki, based on designs created by the King of Manga himself. But many cities, prefectures, tourism spots, and corporations have these heroes representing them, and indeed plenty of the heroes that aren't mascots still have sponsorship from companies. These heroes perform at events, and a good number of them, like series breakout Kitaqman and arch-villain Yabai Kamen, have official theme songs predating the launch of this series. Of course, a good hero needs some good villains, and that's where Kabushikigaisha "Aku no Himitsu Kessha" comes in. (Essentially Secret Society of Evil Co. Ltd., I'll call them AHK from now on). AHK is a company that employs a number of villain's to act as villain's for the local heroes in various products, naturally in universe they're a literal company whose business is evil, and they serve as the series villains, and while almost all the villain's are preexisting, not all of them are normally considered to be part of AHK, but most of them are at least associated with it. The series is set in Fukuoka prefecture, I believe primarily in Fukuoka city, and the majority of the characters are based there.
Anyway, I've wasted enough time, let's go, Dogengers Episode 0. There are no subtitles for this so bear with me.
Dogengers: The show is opened by Shaberryman, the Wide Cannon department head for AHK, here he's just wearing his mask, but he'll have his full ensemble on in the show itself. Shaberryman serves as the writer for Dogengers, and the narrator for the recaps. After he does his brief intro, Yabai Kamen, CEO of AHK and the primary villain for Dogengers, takes the stage, with some AHK footsoldiers, the Karami. Yabai Kamen's appearance is the 3rd and longest serving version, the Headquarters version. After a little bit of scheming and what have you, the hero takes the stage, Kitaqman. Kitaqman represents Kitakyushu, and is noted for his preferring not to fight (claiming he's stiff and the like) and instead focus on his social media profile and the like, sharing his food on twitter, he might also be in charge of some of the editing on the show. His current costume is his 4th, and at this point is probably the one he has used the longest, making him a little more active. Anyway, after a little talking the villains attack Kitaqman who tries to.avoid attacks, before using his special move, phoning someone else to come deal with it. Help comes in the form of Yakuzai Senshi Ohgaman, a representative of Ohga Pharmacy, in story serving as their CEO. Ohgaman is noted for his ludicrously high stats, and his catchphrase, advising people of take their medicine and go to sleep. Here he walks on stage with his Visor Horn up, in the show I don't believe he ever appears without it already being down. He makes quick work of the villain's, who flew, but he captures the last Karami. Kitaqman tells Ohgaman about his idea for a Fukuoka Hero project called Hero House, the Karami is let go at this point, essentially a superhero version of the infamous Terrace House. He refuses to participate, because he's married and I believe has a child. The escaped Karami reports on Hero House to Yabai Kamen, and how the heroes will be on Nokonoshima Island to film it, leaving Fukuoka virtually undefended, he leaves Shaberryman to make plans surrounding that. After a long while Ohgaman comes to fight off Shaberryman and his Karami, leaving Yabai Kamen alone when he arrives, until the sudden arrival of Mushi Otome, an office manager for AHK, who doesn't appear in the show proper. Initially being very Dere with Yabai Kamen, she gets aggressive when Ohgaman interrupts her. Yabai Kamen takes a member of the audience hostage, leading Ohgaman to stop fighting briefly. He power up, Kitaqman coming along with Ohgaman's weapon to use as they fight. Kitaqman gets the Karami trio to flee, and pursues Yabai Kamen, while Ohgaman defeats Mushi Otome, and the pair join to defeat Yabai Kamen. After the two heroes give some parting words, Shaberryman appears to close things.

Introducing:  𝔈𝔞𝔰𝔱 ~ 𝔙𝔞𝔩𝔠𝔬𝔲𝔯
Tumblr media
It’s a whole new Valcour map, with all new buildings, styles, lore and so on!
Since the release of V10 of Valcour City, I wanted a new start, yet keep Valcour. Thusly East Valcour was born. Production on it began around July of 2018, whereas I’ve wanted to finish it for a while I have lacked motivation to finish. I have kept this project a secret for quite some time now, but now I have decided to show East - Valcour City to the public. It still has more work yet to go, but should release in the next few month.
Now, I know what you’re probably thinking, “What will happen to the original Valcour City?” Don’t worry, it’s not going anywhere. Once East - Valcour is finished and released, the two maps the original, now called West Valcour, and the new East - Valcour will be joined together into one big map. They are both built on the same world just in different areas.
Here are a few pictures from the new map:
