sEnte-se (2024)
Tumblr media
Work in progress.
The project is an urban intervention that combines audiovisual with augmented reality and artistic installation. "sEnte-se" ("take a sEat") seeks to explore the reason behind the placement of benches, observing what kind of invitation can be made to passersby and what is the interest in the specific point of view that each of these urban furniture offers. The title of the project is an invitation to sit on these benches, with the clue of an unexpected element (represented by the capital "e" in "sit"), carrying the idea of displacement or prominence (by turning the letter E 90 ° clockwise, it resembles a backless seat). Thinking about the sensitivity necessary to connect with these public spaces, the title also plays with the double meaning of the phrase, which brings an affirmation of a feeling in the present beyond the invitation to sit.

Tumblr media

TONIGHT at 7 PM EST I will be doing a special projection mapping live stream where I will be using Lightform and my Epson 7k lumen laser projector to map out a large fish tank! I have been doing these little projection mapping projects throughout quarantine, and all these streams lately inspired me to stream this one! This will be a fun, intimate little hang out session where you can ask me anything while I map out each of the individual elements of the tank with different colors and patterns! Hope to see you all there! . . . . . #actualize #actualizevisuals #projections #projection_mapping #projectiondesign #projectionmapping #projectionist #projectorart #lightformcreations #lightform #lights #artist #digitalartist #digitalart #quarantineart #quarantineartchallenge #twitch #livestream https://www.instagram.com/p/B_h9LaUnp_N/?igshid=mm43dmna1j5o

Projection mapping
Projection mapping (or spatial augmented reality, if you want to get technical), is projection technology used to turn objects – even major landmarks like Buckingham Palace – into display surfaces for video projection. They’re often seen at arena music tours or in New Year’s Eve celebrations, but thanks to cutting-edge laser projectors becoming small, sleek and extremely portable, they now also present huge and untapped potential for spectacular – and scalable – retail and experiential displays. If you know how to use them, that is.
Tumblr media
As is often the case, the tech is nothing without precise and stunning design. You need a team skilled at fusing the two. At Spark, we’re always looking for interesting ways to merge design and tech, putting it to work for our clients in a commercially viable way. We’ve been having lots of fun with our partner Epson’s latest LightScene™ laser projector, creating a demo to show how projection mapping can be harnessed to bring disruptive and engaging retail display designs to life, and put even the most opulent traditional displays to shame.
I found some amazing examples :

Projection Mapping – How It Works And Why It Is So Cool
Thanks to the wonders of modern technology, videographers, advertiser and production companies can now produce amazing graphic images that can be displayed on virtually anything.  From the side of a building to the inside of a convention center, projection mapping can transform a plain surface into a wall of wonder.
What Is Projection Mapping?
Projection Mapping uses technology to project objects onto a surface. Using this kind of special technology, everyday objects are transformed into a display surface for video projection. These objects could be as complex as an entire landscape, or as simple as just a few shapes that help to enhance the ambiance of a room.
Unlike flat screen mapping, the objects are not just projected onto a flat surface, they are designed to wrap around buildings and mold into their shape,  turning common objects into interactive 3D displays.
How Does Projection Mapping Work?
By using a pre-production process during which images are fitted onto a 3D graphic model of the building, the same images appear to wrap themselves around the physical features of any structure. They give the appearance of being painted on and part of the same structure even though they are not.
This process can also be used on a smaller scale to project virtual images on anything from a mannequin to a car to completely change their color, structure and appearance.
Why Is Projection Mapping So Cool?
Creatives love projection mapping, and the advertising industry, in particular, has picked up on the uber cool environments that can be created using this unique tool.  From expensive and complex advertising campaigns to simple but effective projections used at conventions and product launches, projection mapping is huge in advertising and promotions right now.
If you have the budget for it, you can transform any space into something otherworldly and awe-inspiring simply by having a creative team of projection mapping professionals create a projection just for your organization.
From dancing butterflies on a wall, real-life dinosaurs on the escalator and even huge works of art projected onto city landmarks, projection mapping completely changes the way we view our surroundings.
Projection Mapping has fully evolved since its first outings in the early 2000s when it was used to project visual-art and enhance live-music shows.  It can now be used by production companies to incorporate the telling of entire stories, by using animated visuals and music to produce cinema style action and narratives.
Projection mapping can turn buildings, walls, floors and even common objects into something truly magical.

Projection Mapping
Some people if you ask them ‘what is Projection Mapping ?’ they’ll answer you with ‘projectors which are mapping light onto objects or surface which they use in cinema and schools’ but really projection mapping is turning an object into a dynamic visual display, it doesn’t matter if the object is flat surface or curved.  Projection Mapping has been used in decorations, theater, gaming, computing, concerts, advertising etc. to bring buildings & objects to life to produce astonishing experiences. To make an excellent final piece you need first many creative ideas and planning time.
An easy process to do a projection mapping is to first make a 3D trace on what you are going to project on to show how the projection will be mapped to the 3D surface. Pick the projector & make it on the spot you are going to project from and make sure the setting are arranged as the way you wanted: zoom, focus etc. Once the above is done connect the laptop to the projector, open the full-screen drawing program. Grab the trace which you did in the beginning & align it precisely with the object you are going to project on. From there you can place the things you want to appear in their place. The important things are that there won’t be any wind (if on the outside) and negligible lightning.
As I said before projection mapping can be placed everywhere to bring building or objects to life, as for Architecture Mapping has to be placed on architecture were the designer focus on the architecture to bring it to life with effects. An example of this, BK / Digital Art Company had worked on sculptures to bring out feeling effects with architecture mapping.

Along with three other DAOs, Nomade Label DAO produced several events celebrating 100 years of the Brazilian composer, artist and actor Gilberto Mendes, an action supported by Near Forum. This project involved a performance in Concha Acústica in Santos (SP/Brasil) and at Cine Bijou (São Paulo/SP/Brasil), gathering several artists and musicians in a jam inspired by Mendes’ works. You can read more about it at the following links:

#queseacabechile (2021)
Tumblr media
Solo performance by Tamara Miller in which a cooking pot installation, projections and electronic music play a central role. Through these elements, viewers are drawn into a soundscape that alludes to the political situation in Chile: on Oct. 18, 2019, a protest emerged in several Chilean cities that brought to light many of the country's problems and continues to this day. #queseacabechile is the hashtag of this movement.
The current social and political situation in Chile is marked by serious conflicts. During the clashes between the population with the police and the military, there have been serious cases of human rights violations.

surco (2021)
Tumblr media
A furrow, a wrinkle, a trench… all encompassed in the Spanish term “surco.” SURCO explores how landscapes and experiences form by looking back on human, economic, and ecological processes that occur inseparably on bodies and the Earth. The interdisciplinary installation and performance challenge notions of reshaping territories, through the history of copper extractions in northern Chile. Further, SURCO considers the transformative processes of relocation of matter which are constantly experienced, on various levels. The project was supported by Neustart Kultur Darstellende Kunst Fonds. 18. and 19. Aug. 2021: Opening and performance at SOMA 300, Berlin 9. Oct. 2021: Festival Chilean Conexión at Monopol, Berlin

Been experimenting with some art projection mapping using my new @lightforminc LFC and it's been producing some really cool results! If you flip through the post you will see that there are two pieces being mapped here. The one on the left is very special to me, it was done by my grandmother Carol Connors while she was in art school and I found it when we were cleaning out her house after she passed. I never knew she ever made anything like this, I absolutely love it and had it framed and put it up in a prominent spot in my living room. It is really cool to be able to collaborate with her in a way by mapping out her piece, I wish she could be here to see it! The piece on the right belongs to my roommate David and is by the artist @jakeweidmann, an absolutely incredible calligraphy artist. They have been such awesome pieces to practice messing with Lightform on, I can't wait to figure out how to do even more with it and try it out on some other pieces we have around the house! . . . . . . #actualize #actualizevisuals #visuals #vj #visualart #artmapping #projections #projectiondesign #collaborate #collab #projector #projection_mapping #projectionmapping #projectionist #artinstallation #installationart #artist #artistoninstagram #create #createveryday #experiment #experimental https://www.instagram.com/p/B99yi9NnKTs/?igshid=1oelrsmsure41
