I love the design of Eedy's kitchen with its tiny cramped dining area, dim lighting, yellowed walls, old discolored plastic and 70s decor, and that Eedy seems to be hoarding food for the end of the world in every corner.
Tumblr media
I mean look at it, look at all this cereal ahaha
hey wait
is that
Tumblr media
is that a waffle iron?? integrated into the stove?
all this time Syril has been eating gross cereal with too much blue milk, when he could have been eating delicious waffles???
why is it open? it's only in this scene, in all the others it's closed. did Eedy make waffles and Syril still ate cereal? did she make some for herself? I can't even imagine Eedy consuming anything other than black unsweetened caf.
I want to see what Karn waffles look like... :[

Ten of my favorite props I painted for TMNT Mutant Mayhem.
1. Jukebox for the Bowling Alley scene
2. Bananas for their grocery run, don’t think rhsi got modeled
3. Bread for the Grocery run
4. Grocery bags and Milk
5. Bebop’s Juke Box
6. Aprils phone case and stickers.
7. Burger from the Bowling Alley
8. Jumper cables from an early version of the Chop shop fight.
9. Mondo Gecko’s Skate Board
10. Sniper Rifle which was from a longer version of the Ice cream truck Heist that got cut down for time and clarity.
Painting props is a very fun and more relaxing part of doing Visdev. We often get chives props in between doing big heavy lifting paintings for sets as a way to cool down. It’s great because props are a smaller task so you get the satisfaction for “succeeding” more quickly and often as you knock out a hand full of prop paintings. It’s more straightforward and less psychically demanding.

it's the post i talked about making with seawing armor!! i was planning to do a third drawing with weapons, but i'm not super into it so maybe some other time
design notes under the cut!!
so first thing's first, i know very little about armor design. i did research and stuff, an attempt was made here XD
seawings mainly use materials found in/around the sea. metal is pretty limited to use in armor, weapons, and tools, especially during the war.
as such, seawings probably wouldn't know a ton about metallurgy, especially with the fact that they don't have fire. this generation's blacksmiths were likely informed by allied tribes, being mudwings (formerly) and some sandwings.
design is based off of ancient greek armor, mixed with some art nouveau styling. there's a bit more emphasis on aesthetics than practicality, a holdover from pre-war times.
materials are limited to things that won't degrade in saltwater (at least not quickly). bronze armor with glass-enameled elements, shark leather (or seaweed in lower ranks) straps, and titanium fastenings.
even though they won't degrade quickly, these materials will still oxidize. soldiers are expected to keep their armor presentable and in working order.
armor is made to be light, flexible, and limit use of glowscales, teeth, claws, and wings as little as possible. for these reasons, soldiers only wear a helm and spaulders unless in active battle, at which point noncoms would have a chestplate, and officers would have a chestplate and mail on the gills and belly. the gills are not usually covered, as their plating makes them the toughest part of the seawing naturally.
while there are armor gaps for use of glowscales, these are small and not the most practical. instead, seawing soldiers have been using a limited version of aquatic, made primarily of hand signals, for centuries.
because fabrics such as sashes would be impractical for seawings, rank is denoted using colored enamel portions on the armor. higher ranking officers, especially royalty, may also have custom armor, though this is a bad idea as it would make one a huge target in battle. regardless, some don special armor as is tradition.

Can we talk about how in the show Lestat and Armand are framed as narrative foils. Armand and Lestat who are both so aggressively theater kids, but Lestat who acts, who draws in the attention and holds it, and Armand who directs, who shapes and manipulates the narrative. Armand and Lestat's obsession with Louis and his love and frustration with his melancholy over Lestat and Claudia respectively. Who both felt second in his heart. Who fear loneliness above all else. Lestat taking what he wants to excess - no impulse control, and Armand letting things happen to him and trying to manipulate situations to get what he wants but never taking it. Armand, who even in the end, so much more powerful, never physically imposes himself on Louis. Armand who seeks complete control in subtle insidious ways. Lestat who seeks control in the physical. Armand and Lestat brought into vampire life in horrifying ways tangled up with SA. Armand who still talks about his maker with reverence, Lestat who hates his maker. Armand who pours all of himself into his partner, willing to shape himself into what they desire but ultimately needing control to feel safe. Lestat who pours all of his love into his partner but unwilling to change himself and ultimately cedes control in moments to maintain the relationship. Armand who clings to his breaking apart relationship for 77 YEARs, Lestat who let Louis go. Lestat and Armand who watch Claudia die, but one as a father and one as a murderer. Lestat and Armand so intense in their love but Lestat so painfully external and Armand so painfully internal as characters. Both constantly acting and putting on a face. Lestat as Mozart and Armand as Salieri (in the flashback scene!). Armand who loves routine and structure and repetion, Lestat who craves change and excitement. The calling cards are echos, who learned from who. Armand teaching Lestat the vampire gifts, Lestat teaching Armand a new way to live. on and on....

ahhhh I love little details like this!
Something new in Andor on my embarrassingly high number rewatch?
How about this, as revealed in a new podcast with graphic designer Barry Gingell (who also plays the hologram of Anto Kreegyr) … link below.

Blue noodles guy, aka Noodles Brian, has another container visible on his desk here. It’s a pyramid shaped box. Barry’s idea was to have Ferrix specialise in flavoured blue milk served in cartons like these, with a little straw. “Ferrix’s Capri Sun”. Unfortunately, this is all that remains of the idea to have an actual Ferrix store selling these. Yes, there was also going to be a blue noodles bar on Ferrix.

After rewatching Andor for the hundredth time, I want to draw special attention to how messy the Preox-Morlana headquarters is - and this is the command center! Not only does everyone there seem to be eating those takeout noodles, but Chief Hyne has some nuts(??) all over his desk that he leaves lying around when he goes to his meeting and they're still there when Blevin pays a visit. They've been there for DAYS. It's all just so cluttered and dirty, I love it.
