The archiving of The Book of Lamentations is coming up an end and this is it’s penultimate post. The remnants are disjointed and fragmented with the first being from recent life drawing sessions from @thequeenofheartbreak with @the_liverpool_nude and #liverpoolindependentartschool - I’m not keen on the end result but the gold of life drawing is training to look and see rather than the finished outcome -so really it no longer feels important if I like the outcome or not. The next drawing is a test print of a small drypoint from our weekend courses at @bridewellstudiosliverpool looking toward the incinerator tower at the Royal. The last was a remaining test sample which found its home in a spare page of this book from our pre-Covid trip to Lancaster Iron Press to learn a photo-etching process. During my friend Patsy’s degree in Belfast she had been asked to tell fictional stories about found objects. I had played this game in my degree too and when she presented me with two different types of nail I remembered what a lovely doorway into exploring narrative this was. We would often teach this session on Foundation as part of our own narrative project and it underpins much of my current work on building imaginary relics. The first three images are these. The next two were two illustrations I did for Kev Cootes for a sci-fi fanzine he was running. In 95 I had imagined a future of militarised police and environmental ruin. Good thing it didn’t turn out like that... phew!
