the Paragita Song Zalan starts off as something for straight up but singing but eventually becomes a vector for wielding your voice as a weapon: which would synergize well with the other Battle Zalan in the Sundang Langit
Zalan means Path, Road, Way of Doing Something--in the same means as "Dao" or "Dharma". in the world it is a Proto-Shenno-Ragaan word, which eventually evolved into "Dalan" among the West Bidarans, "Jalan" among the East Bidarans, and "Daan" among Selorongians, "Dao" in Shen
more importantly, Zalan evolved into Zel in western Hiraga Ra-Om, turning into Zr/Dzr in Western Temog Ra-Om, before turning into Dhr in the Razrunan River Societies, which would evolve into the word "Dharma" and would be back-borrowed back into Central Utter Islands Languages

Jedi Apprentice books, ranked
Here is my personal list of the Jedi Apprentice books, ranked from favorite to least favorite. Reasons and thoughts below the cut.
The Hidden Past
The Rising Force
The Dark Rival
The Captive Temple
The Day of Reckoning
The Evil Experiment
The Deadly Hunter
The Dangerous Rescue
The Fight for Truth
The Mark of the Crown
The Defenders of the Dead
The Uncertain Path
The Shattered Peace
The Threat Within
The Only Witness
The Call to Vengeance
The Ties That Bind
The Death of Hope
The Hidden Past - I love everything about this. It's got amnesia, angst, dramatic irony, Guerra and Paxxi, and a really beautiful demonstration of both Obi-Wan's strength in the Force and the strength of his bond with Qui-Gon.
The Rising Force - This is what started it all, so it will always hold a very special place in my heart. So exciting it made me shake with adrenaline the first time I read it. And a really dramatic and unexpected way for Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan to meet!
The Dark Rival - SO ANGSTY I LOVE IT. Xanatos and all the flashbacks to his past with Qui-Gon are really interesting. Also I love Guerra, and the drama of Obi-Wan being captured as a slave and then offering to blow himself up to save Qui-Gon!!!!! a;lkfdjsdlkfj
The Captive Temple - Some parts are really uncomfortable to read, what with Obi-Wan returning to the Temple in disgrace after leaving the Jedi. But this book also holds one of my absolute favorite passages in the whole series, of Obi-Wan having a panic attack when Xanatos captures Bant, and Qui-Gon talks him through it <3
The Day of Reckoning - Just a really fun book all around, and a very satisfying conclusion to Xanatos' storyline. Den, aka Best Supporting Character. Den and Andra, aka Proto-HanLeia :3 Also some very beautiful scenery and a lovely ending.
The Evil Experiment - Evil scientist experiments/torture my beloved! The role reversal of Qui-Gon being completely helpless while Obi-Wan has to be in charge of the mission. And let's not forget Cholly, Weez, and Tup.
The Deadly Hunter - Just a really solid, interesting mystery that leads into The Evil Experiment, so it's all linked in my mind. Didi and Astri are great characters, and the bounty hunter is such an iconic villain. Also, this and The Evil Experiment have some of the best cliff-hanger endings in the series.
The Dangerous Rescue - I like this for the same reason as The Deadly Hunter and The Evil Experiment, it's just a bit less because they rescue Qui-Gon at the beginning, so it's not quite as tense. But you've got Cholly, Weez, and Tup. You've got Adi and Siri and Astri. And it's a good conclusion to this little arc, with some great angst and hurt/comfort with Qui-Gon.
The Fight for Truth - While not part of one of the really dramatic arcs of the series, and kind of acts as just a little episodic entry, this one has always stuck in my mind for some reason. Quite possibly my first dystopia, but framed in a way that makes a ton of sense for a kid. It's dark, but not too dark. And it's got brainwashing, so it hearkens back to my favorite a bit.
The Mark of the Crown - Some parts were a little boring to me, like the conversations Qui-Gon has with the queen about legacies, but there's still some fun action and the added interest of the two Jedi working separately for most of the book. And I also love the description of a sword as being "like a lightsaber, but made out of metal" XD
The Defenders of the Dead - Better than The Uncertain Path just because there are several chapters in the beginning where Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan are still working as a team. But everything that happens on Melida/Daan just kinda makes me feel uncomfortable for a lot of reasons.
The Uncertain Path - The one book from the "good" part of the series I would often skip. It's just so hard to watch Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan being separated like this, not because of villains but because of their own stubbornness and disagreements. Also includes Cerasi's death, which is really hard to read :'(
The Shattered Peace - This one is so low, not so much because it's bad so much as because it's kind of...forgettable? I had a hard time remembering what it was about before I reread it, and even though it's about brothers, it just didn't grab me. Not much action, either, just two peoples who struggle to understand each other.
The Threat Within - Similarly to The Shattered Peace, this one isn't a bad story, just kind of boring compared to some of the others. The similarities between the Vorzydiaks and "worker bees" are interesting and it would be fun to see that kind of thing on screen, but ultimately it's just not that interesting of a plot. It does work better than I remembered as the final book in the series, though. Kind of brings everything full circle and shows how Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan have both grown.
The Only Witness - Blah. Boring. Too much talking, not enough action for a story about a woman trying to escape the mafia, basically. I didn't like Obi-Wan's attraction to Lena. It didn't really bring up anything interesting or go anywhere, so what was the point?
The Call to Vengeance - I don't wike it. Qui-Gon acts borderline OOC, it's all about vengeance (a motivation I usually find uninteresting), and there's just a bad taste through the whole thing from the previous two books. This goes higher on the list than those two, though, because this reread did bring up several rather sweet passages that I quite liked.
The Ties That Bind - To me, this is where the series started going downhill, and I kind of wished they'd stopped with The Dangerous Rescue. I don't like how Qui-Gon's romance was handled, I don't like the way it made him act, and I don't like how Tahl was acting either. Just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
The Death of Hope - This book ends up at the bottom because it suffers from being in the middle of my least favorite arc of the series, which means it carries on from the frustrations I had with The Ties That Bind and doesn't really get resolved at the end either. We basically already know that Tahl is going to die, both from the title and from Qui-Gon's visions (and if you happen to have seen the cover of the next book, it's not hard to guess). So even though they're chasing after Tahl for most of the book and there's exciting action scenes, the whole thing is covered with an air of dread that makes it not very fun to read if you ask me.

Happy AU where Anakin decides to talk to Obi-Wan instead of Palpatine about his problems, and Obi-Wan actually helps him. And there's like Proper Communication(TM) between the two of them.
Star Wars would like... literally not even exist.
Aaaallll of Palpatine’s manipulations and scheming and time and effort sunk into molding Anakin into being the perfect little proto-Sith would just evaporate. Or would have not even worked in the first place, really, because Palpatine made damned sure that Anakin used him as his main emotional support instead of going to Obi-Wan (as he should have!).
For Anakin to go to Obi-Wan and talk to him about his problems, he’d need to not have any of the reservations he did in canon - of which the vast majority of those reservations were spoon-fed to him by Palpatine since he became a padawan.
Anakin would need to, in no particular order:
Believe that Obi-Wan would hear him out at all
Believe that Obi-Wan wouldn’t immediately run to the Council
Believe that Obi-Wan would take his concerns seriously
Believe that Obi-Wan would taken the concept of visions seriously (since that’s the majority of Anakin’s issues)
There is a lot of faith that Anakin needs to put into Obi-Wan, and while he has a tremendous amount of it already, Palpatine’s machinations prevent Anakin from the full 100% he could give Obi-Wan.
The only two options I could see for this happening is either A) Palpatine’s words never worked on Anakin, or B) Something drastic happens that forces Anakin to dramatically rearrange his perspective of Obi-Wan.
A is the best scenario, but it makes the assumption that child!Anakin doesn’t trust Palpatine, as well as not being susceptible to Palpatine’s probable Dark Side usage of the Force to bend Anakin’s will to him. Lots of interesting ways that could go down, but ideally in this scenario an adult would notice something about Palpatine is off and keep Anakin safely ensconced within the Temple as often as possible.
B is mostly likely going to be Obi-Wan whump, if it’s not Anakin whump with Obi-Wan to react in a suitably dramatic manner to it, because Anakin is nothing if not a proponent for learning things the hard way.
Since the vast majority of Anakin’s susceptibility to Palpatine is his lack of knowledge about Obi-Wan’s background, he’d need to learn about it somehow - and Obi-Wan looks completely unwilling to divulge the unedited, whole truth about his life. For one, Obi-Wan doesn’t like admitting his failures to others, and for two, it would make Qui-Gon look really bad. (Something Obi-Wan probably has mixed feelings about and is aware that it would likely tear down the pedestal Anakin put Qui-Gon on.)
Obi-Wan holds very tightly to his past, and unless Anakin manages to learn the full depth and breadth of it from someone else (likely another Council member, someone who’s been there long enough to watch Obi-Wan grow up and witness all the things he’s lived through), it’s likely to be a life-or-death scenario that would break the silence on the issue. ...Though, if someone other than Obi-Wan did so, then it’s likely life-or-death anyway.
Once learning even the biggest events in Obi-Wan’s life, such as Bandomeer and Melida/Daan, Anakin is probably going to feel like a very hypocritical idiot. And when Anakin is in that sort of mood, and hopefully doesn’t hide away in shame, he usually tries to make up for his behaviour with a very earnest apology.
Hopefully, hopefully what follows is a deep and meaningful conversation between him and Obi-Wan, which would convince Anakin to speak up about his own problems, and from that point Obi-Wan would probably gladly offer his help. After learning about the ends Obi-Wan would go to in order to accomplish something (re: Bandomeer, Melida/Daan, Tahl’s death, Rako Hardeen, Satine’s death, etc), Anakin’s likely to put the full 100% of his trust and faith in Obi-Wan to help him solve his problems.
If this happens during the Clone Wars, then hoo boy that war is going to be summarily ground to a halt, because when that string is pulled on the entire house of Palpatine’s cards is going to fall down.
#and at this point I'm not even sure it's an unfortunate thing#this is a good au I like it#because these two are idiots that can't have a productive conversation unless someone's probably dying#obi wan's all like ''you told palpatine w h a t''#I have zero doubts about obi wan single-handedly winning the war out of sheer outrage#because lbr anakin talking to him means he's going to put two and two together /really/ quickly#if anakin's not driving the speeder that runs palpatine over it's going to be obi wan#thanks for the ask!#pandora15
