Goals.
In pro wrestling (and life), it's important to have goals.
Something to work for.
Something to compare success to.
A measuring stick or blueprint for the end game.
But don't have just a singular lofty goal. You need short and medium-term goals, too. Because if you never reach your main goal or have steps to take along the way, it seems so far and hard.
If your goal is to work for WWE, make that the main goal. The endgame.
Then have a short team goal of being booked at least once every weekend.
Then maybe a medium goal of working in 3 different states by year end.
Accomplish those? Then, make another short and medium goal that will help you reach the main goal.
Set up goals and tear through them.
Having goals is the first step.
Having a plan to achieve those goals is the next.

There’s no one that embodies the “IWA way” like Michael Elgin. Whether it’s 42 in a flea market going 60 w/ ol Mancer, 125 at the Jeffersonville ArenA or 43,000 in the Tokyo Dome, no matter what, Big Mike gives it 110%. Ask Myron Reed, Logan James or Jake Lander what Big Mike’s teachings have done for their careers. Look at The Pizza Guy or Drew Dillinger, they did the last seminar then found themselves on a show shortly after and are now regular roster members. Bossman pays attention to who non roster member participants are in these seminars. Especially if you’re local/semi-local. Nobody else is running every single week putting on shows like we put on. I’m not saying that cos I’m part of the company, I’m saying that cos it’s the goddamn truth. Why wouldn’t you want to be on these shows? Invest in yourself and put your money where your mouth is. If you’re an IWA roster member, you’d be a fool not to take advantage of the steal of a deal. Contact @iwamidsouth to reserve your spot! #michaelelgin #bigmikeelgin #unbreakablemichaelelgin #newjapanprowrestling #njpw #iwams #iwamidsouth #iwamidsouthwrestling #wrestlingseminar #prowrestlingtraining #wwe #impactwrestling #roh #pwg #ecw #tedpettyinvitational https://www.instagram.com/p/BvdrqALHe53/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=hjkwazi54i4t

What’s Good: NEPWA is the combination of Killer Kowalski’s School of Pro Wrestling and the Chaotic Training Center, which was once run by the late Steve Bradley. The group has good name value, and a solid reputation for turning out competent performers that conduct themselves with respect. Multiple rings in-house allows for experienced and rookie classes to go on simultaneously. The school’s most notable graduate in the past decade is Sasha Banks.
In the Middle: Current trainers Brian Fury and Johnny Vegas are capable, at best. The days of the legendary Kowalski and longtime WWF prospect Bradley are in a distant past.
What’s Bad: Any wrestling school that won’t publicly disclose their training fees is at least a little suspect. This can be used as a tactic to later claim additional costs are involved. Videos posted to their Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/neprowrestling) routinely show overcrowded training sessions.
Rating: 7 out of 10. The best overall option in New England, currently. Classes are overcrowded thanks to the popularity of the program, and its solid reputation. Despite having lackluster careers as in-ring performers, Fury and Vegas consistently churn out capable talent.

Social Media is one of the most powerful tools for anyone in the professional wrestling industry.
But it is one I see often squandered because it is under-utilized, mismanaged, misused, and abused.
Join me on September 22nd, from 1-4pm at the AML Pro Wrestling Training Center and we will go over how to properly market yourself, and your brand, to exponentially boost your online presence, and increase followers, bookings, and engagement.
I've learned quite a few tips, tricks, strategies, and techniques over the years.
I currently run a few pro wrestling brand social media channels and have completed coursework from HubSpot, Facebook, and more.
I'm eager to share all of this information with everyone. I've found the best way to help pro wrestling be better, is by making the people IN IT better.

If you're ever invited to help at a pro wrestling event, make sure that you're aware of your actions.
Be willing to help however you can.
If there is no work to do, please stay out of the way.
Worst thing you can do is to show up, not help, and be in the way.
Doesn't matter which company it is for.
Act professional.

Yessir/ma'am
my friend
my man
brother/sister
These are words that I speak often. I always try to bestow one of those upon everyone I speak to.
It gives them power.
It denotes a more personal relationship with me.
It makes people feel loved and appreciated.
I could coldly use them to receive that same power but the words mean so much more when they are used with sincerity.
I truly appreciate everyone.
Everyone deserves the respect of being called sir or ma'am.
Everyone is my friend. My man. or my brother/sister
I do not use those words needlessly or without purpose.
But I also use those words because that is how I genuinely feel about people in general.
Yes, I may have disagreements or conflicts but overall, my view of people and the world is positive.
That's my choice.
And one I'm glad I make every day.

They say the only time you should look backward is to see how far you've come.
And if you can't find humor and joy in things you've done, what are we doing this for?
My very first promo pic.
Had this bad boy printed out on glossy 8x10s.
High tech merch for 2000-2001. 😉
Man, I look young and tiny. 🤣
Where does the time go?

Being a pro wrestler is very much like being a Magician.
All the basic tenants are there in both professions (character, showmanship, misdirection, etc).
Just because the audience is aware that it's only a trick does not mean we need to give them step by step instructions and ruin the illusion.
Heck, magic still headlines shows in Vegas and can be seen almost every week on television.
Don't tell me that the mystique of pro wrestling is dead.

Not everyone is going to have the same path in pro wrestling.
Everyone's journey is different.
Some may arrive at their long-term goal quicker than others. That doesn't mean that their path was better, or easier.
Hard work and dedication can make any dream, or goal, a reality.

There is a story that one time in the late 80s, someone asked Jim Cornette, "What's the secret to getting booked?"
In typical Cornette fashion, he screams, "Just show up! How hard is that for people to understand!?!"
And he is right.
If you're not booked this weekend, find an event running near you, message the promoter/promotion and let them know you're coming. Offer to help setup/tear down, run security, network with other talent on the show.
Be there.
There may not be a spot, but if you have your stuff, you'll be ready.
You never know, you may even create a spot for yourself on the next event.
It's better than sitting at home. Right?

"Babyfaces move forward.
Heels move backwards."
There is a basic psychological element to how you move in the ring.
Remember to capture the essence of the role you've been assigned in your match.
The little things make all the difference.

In professional wrestling, you must be able to deliver the message of your product.
What I mean is, if you are a fun loving, party guy that fans love. Don't have skulls on your gear and come out to horror metal. The two don't fit.
If you're a street thug and a take no junk attitude, wearing pink and sky blue tights doesn't get your message across.
You must be honest with yourself.
Does your size, look, demeanor, gear, actions, and entrance tell a story of a total package?
Or does it look like someone who thought "Oh, that looks cool" and spliced a bunch of stuff together?
You want to look like a professional.
A complete package.
A noticeable brand.
Not Create-a-Wrestler.
