finally finished this dreadful thing. behold my shitty notpoetry
"i'm sure your voice is a metronome
marking the space between days
your absence lets in a cacophony
and leaves my thoughts as strays
the guilt of writing about my feelings
rather than about you
is only quieted by the fear that
in my paper, you'll see described something untrue
untrue to your morals and immoral in your eyes
to be wrong in my descriptions about all that is
would devastate me, not that it matters, to write mere lies
so let me apologise where apologies are due
i'd prefer not to slip up while writing
to pay proper attention
and making sure my undeserving pages truly know you
there's nothing in this boiling earth i'd like more
than to deserve all the things i get without asking
except, of course, being able to show the way i adore
you, in your wholeness, in your not-quite-perfection
i'd greedily take your hand and bitten nails
can you feel me grasping
selfishly all i can take, no traction and no exception
no way to account, make up for the way i take more
and more and more again and again
for this electric pump i call a heart thumps with a certain rhythm
one i look for in every unfamiliar song, i think i'll follow it anywhere
sadly, anywhere, every road leads to your door
beneath the floorboards, my heart hears your voice as a metronome
one i'm too scared to let it drag me home"
