There's something about the idea of Charles loving the way Edwin moves and speaks that heals me.

Like, Edwin was probably murdered in large part because he moved in a more "effeminate" way. He sashays. He moves his arms loosely at his sides. He has Little Hand Motions™. And, yeah, he definitely tried to hide this when he was alive if his stiff movements in the episode 1 flashback were anything to go by!

But in the end, we know that's why he was targeted. He wasn't running after men or coming out because a) it was 1916 and b) he is Edwin and Edwin's... not the most emotionally open person in the world.

But then Charles comes along. And, as we see in the show, he just stares adoringly at Edwin whenever he says something cunty or snaps his fingers like ta-daa! or spins around or pivots and walks like he's about to slay the boots house down.

He's not girlish or cringey or [insert slur here!] He's graceful! He moves with dignity! He's elegant and delicate and beautiful!

In the flashback where they met, Edwin's movements are still compact. It's 35 years of love and adoration that made him more comfortable moving in ways that his peers killed him for. And idk, this is just one of my favourite things about Payneland that I feel people don't talk about enough

I've been searching for some US legislation connected to Cuba and found this

Apparently you can get compensated if you got hit by an evil Cuban death ray. If you sustained a terrible mind injury from a top secret weapon that they can't find.

“Havana Syndrome” should be talked about more because it was so fucking weird hearing very official voices in the federal government suggesting or espousing an idea that if it was said by a panicking private individual could honestly and legitimately get them sent to a psychiatric hospital if they were demanding that other people also believe that “there’s invisible beams from menacing foreign sources that are invading my body and causing to exhibit symptoms that have no physical manifestation and are only self-reported and subjective”. If Trump were the one to first give a platform to the idea that Cuban beams were giving people headaches and nausea as part of an attack on the US it’d be one of the things Democrats just would not stop making fun of him for.

Like the phrase “directed energy attack” sounds so fucking absurd coming from Pentagon officials it sounds like the type of thing that would only by said by one of those types in like, the 1970s when they tried to study and research psychics

At one point Charles was definitely like "listen mate we need a secret handshake for when we're on cases" and Edwin jumped on board immediately, so they came up with something pretty basic, but then over the years they just kept adding to it to see how long they could go for. It currently clocks in at about 68 minutes. The girls asked to see it once; Crystal bailed after roughly 4, while Niko demanded an encore.

Excerpt from a developer interview in a rare issue of Nintendo Dream from October 2017. Talks about the kind of place Agent 4 came from, and the differences in the ways of thinking between the youth of agent 3's time and agent 4's time. This is the clearest info I've seen on agent 4's background, so I figured I should share.

Q: Why is the protagonist in this game's Hero Mode called "Agent 4"?

Nogami: Because this game's protagonist and the previous game's protagonist are different Inklings.

Amano: Because they're starting from somewhere unfresh (laughs). The previous game's Agent 3 has already gotten fresh, so we thought it's time for someone else to take on the role of a hero from a different location.

Inoue: Agent 3 had a very "I've finally made it to the city" feeling, with a strong desire to become fresh. 4 on the other hand, not so much. Rather than being someone from the countryside, they're more like someone who came from a commuter town within the greater metropolitan area. It's like a place where the limited express trains wouldn't stop at, but the semi-express trains would (laughs).

[[TN: Time to briefly explain Japanese train terms! Limited express train: train that makes the least number of stops, only stops at the most major stations on the line. semi-express: train that is slower and makes more stops than the limited express train. However, it doesn't stop at every station.]]

Nogami: During the tutorial at the start of the game, did you turn around and look behind the starting spawn point? There you can see ticket gates, and this is on the way towards Inkopolis Square.

Inoue: For the Inklings in the same generation as Agent 3, they were the pioneers who wanted to pave their own path, but the generation that Agent 4 is a part of has grown up watching such people, so they have more of this dry practicality to them. This is not so much the personality of the character, but rather the storm that's hit this generation. It's not that they aren't interested in idols, but they probably don't watch TV because of club activities or something.

ーーThe times have changed, haven't they?

Inoue: This time, even the girls have this tomboyish strong-minded, sporty impression, while the boys have a bit of a feminine charm. In that way there's a sense the ways of thinking have evolved. This isn't limited to the protagonist, but a change that's happened as a whole.
