they were swearing and fighting with the pulltab and then just stood up, grabbed a hammer, and smacked the shit out of it til there was enough of a hole to pour out of. it was the most exhilarating moment of my life. id been watching them do DIY all day with that hammer and they'd just put it down but decided it had one more job to do

Wait you open beers with a hammer? Could you walk me through the logistics of that?

NGL Zac made me sound MUCH cooler than it really was AKSHSKSJDHD ...... basically the pulltab on the can broke off so I simply and, of course, extremely deftly and delicately, used the claw end of the hammer to whack the absolute living shit out of the top the can. And voilà, that's how you open a can of beer with a hammer! 💪

Many many things to say about such a long fic lol but something that stood out to me at first read is that it’s really lovely how much thought you've obviously put into the products at the shop, they feel very canon-like and really help you feel inside that world

I mentioned this on my main while I was writing the fic, but my literal favourite thing to do while writing a fic that involves the twins is coming up with new WWW products. there is another fic that I have in my drafts that needs to be finished that heavily involves WWW where I had a lot of fun coming up with products for the shop

and I know a lot of people write AUs where they come up with a line of sex products, and I have considered doing that (the day I write that AU, it's over for you bitches) but I have so much fun coming up with actual PG products that they would sell alongside their normal products

so, here is a list of products I have some up with for Weasleys' Wizards Wheezes that everyone can feel free to 'steal' and incorporate into their own fics:

Morph-O-Masks - animal masks that make animal sounds and have blinking eyes and other moving parts (like moving ears) and let out realistic animal sounds when the wearer makes a sound. the original release was themed after the Hogwarts houses with a golden lion mask, a green serpent, a (creepy) black and white badger, and a brown/bronze eagle, but they have since expanded the product line to include a spider with a dozen blinking eyes, a black cat that purs, different species of dragons (that Charlie consulted on), and a hippogriff. (fun fact: this line was named after Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - obviously Fred and George don't know what that is, but that is a note from me, the author. I wanted a name that would represent transforming into an animal and that was one of the first things I could think of lmao.)

Birthday In A Box - a small handheld box with a pulltab that instantly transforms any room into a birthday celebration. this includes fully inflated balloons, streamers, confetti, and a large sign that adheres to a nearby wall that says 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY'. (birthday cake not included.) this was inspired by the fact that the twins' almost forgot their mother's birthday and had to rush to put up decorations last minute, and wished that they could have an instant, last minute solution to help celebrate birthdays, especially with so many members in their family which means so many birthdays to celebrate. they have a stipulation on the box that says 'cake not included' because they tried to make one and include it in the product and it turned out tasting awful because of the magic that would have it appear instantaneously. nothing tastes as good as their mother's home made chocolate cake, after all. (fun fact: this was inspired by Flint's Celebration In A Box from Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs 2.)

also, I went into my fic and found the description of Birthday Party In A Box, and it's so much better than I remembered lmao.

Professor Professional Buttons - a series of transforming buttons meant to mock certain maligned Hogwarts professors that began during the twins' time at Hogwarts, starting off with a bright pink button with the words Umbridge Scumbridge on it that transforms at the sound of her voice and in her presence says 'Study Hard, Pass The OWLs' (a message that she comments on in approval of). by popular demand, they added a version for Snape which shows a cartoonish animation of him being crushed by a troll, and when reacting to the sound of his voice, then displays a plain message of 'Future Potioneer'. (this was inspired more by something from the series itself - the Potter Stinks buttons.)

(there is probably more that I am forgetting, so I may add onto this post later)

just in general, I have a lot of fun making up WWW products for fics. it's something I could do for hours. the twins should hire me

Over the lunch hour (not saying I actually ate any food) Sheila and I walked around "downtown" Birchwood.

The first store we visited was a consignment/gift/candy place called Treasures and Treats. It had all sorts of sweets I don't see at grocery stores these days, things we bought as kids. I got a package of Lemonhead candy. It was just like childhood times, but instead of $0.20 a box it was $2.00 and smaller that it was in 1976.

Then we ambled over to check out the two bars & grills on the main street. Bear Tracks Bar & Grill had more mounted animals and a different gun raffle. This one was for a Henry .17 HMR lever action rifle. That didn't interest me so I saved my money.

Sheila watched a couple at the end of the bar pour a lot of $$$ into pull tabs. When they cried uncle (without being able to buy the bar a round) Sheila dove in, because those winners were still in the jar, right? Sheila too did not walk away being able to buy the bar a round. Nonetheless, we enjoyed our time there talking to bartender Mark and other customers. Another patron also played pulltabs, with the unusual order of six at a time. He too went home empty handed.

Eventually we walked across the street to Mary's Bluegill Bar & Grill. A mother-daughter duo, Jess and Jordan, covered the bar. Very friendly people there, on each side of the bar. In some large cities you can't pay cash at some establishments. In some Birchwood businesses you can only pay with cash. On Thursdays the Bluegill has $2 taps. I may have to come back next week for that. Think of how much money I'll save!

The bar tabs were once again pleasantly small. After day drinking (we are in Wisconsin!) ended we stopped by the local grocery store. It's convenient to not have to drive to Walmart miles away. You do pay for that convenience in small towns. Hamburger buns, for example, were well over double the price of my hometown grocery store. But I wasn't going to drive to Walmart.

SSSS.DYNAZENON THE GATTAI Gridman Universe & Big Goldburn

Thank goodness this one didn't have shipping issues like the last Goldburn set. In fact, I got an email a week out saying exactly when it would ship, and it arrived before the tracking number could even update. That's pretty good service if you ask me, especially compared to last time.

Oh, and I really enjoyed the crossover film. It basically gave us everything you'd want from this type of thing; catching up with the characters post-series, lots of fun character moments between the casts, previous villains playing heroic roles, every single possible robot combination you might want, just a lot of fun overall.

The Good: Gridman Universe is a decent upgrade to its previous incarnations. While it looses a bit of posability, it has ratcheted shoulders to help support the weight of the larger arms. The hands are also easier to swap, and they fixed the issue with the chest gem by giving it a release button on the back of the figure.

Big Goldburn is a bit of a brick, but has a few articulated areas. He's got arms, fingers and toes, wings, a bit of neck and tail, and a mouth (though its on the same joint as the neck, so it clashes). Also, when you spin the shoulders, the internals and tips spin in the opposite direction.

And Rouge Kaiser Gridman is very cool. It feels a lot more solid than its Gridknight counterpart, with the tail also serving to tripod the unit if need be (though it doesn't need it).

The Bad: While Gridman's new shoulders do help hold everything up better than its predecessors, I do find it to be a little under-powered. They hold a pose well, but if you start moving the figure, they will shift around. There are some weird transformation ideas that feel like they're there for longevity's sake, but they do seem and feel a bit odd at first. And this may just be a thing with international shipments, but the instructions seem to imply the chest piece is supposed to come with batteries (it is illustrated with a pulltab), but in practice has none. It required 3 LR44s, but it's important to note that those batteries have multiple names and can vary by brand, so have your phone out while shopping in-store for them.

Overall, while I can try and nitpick this kit, it's a fantastic addition to both the DX Gridman and The Gattai lines. It does a great job trying to adjust to the failings of its predecessors, and gives me high hopes for the Full Power Gridman V2 releasing later this year. I've got my nose to the ground trying to track down Full Power Gridknight (since I missed the preorder window on that one), so hopefully we'll get to talk about that one soon, too.

💥 COLLISON - what emotions do they have trouble dealing with?

i would say most of them tbh. v isn't very good at emotional labour and most of her feelings end in some kind of aggression. angry? yell. happy? also yell.

she is used to anger, to hate, though things that would mildly annoy most people will often drive her straight into a rage, a rage that she can deal with and even hide, if she wants to, but rage nonetheless.

sadness comes to mind though, she doesn't have time to be sad, cannot afford to be sad, so she is angry instead. this amazing piece of art really spoke to me on the matter. it's a never ending cycle, really.

💤 SLEEPING - do they fall asleep easily? what helps them sleep?

v can't sleep very well, thanks to the ridiculous amounts of caffeine she consumes lmao. even if she's tired she has a hard time falling asleep. alcohol, drugs or a blow to the head usually helps. she also can't just relax, before the game takes place she already was doing mercwork but she also had multiple regular jobs in order to always have something to do.

🍧 SHAVED ICE - do they still have any objects from their childhood? what significance does it have to them? what would their reaction be if they lost it?

v never formally moved out of her childhood home, so she really doesn't have any objects from her childhood, besides maybe the clothes she was wearing when she ran away. some scraps of those might still exist in her wardrobe but that's about it.

at some point v is faced with the opportunity to get her hands on her childhood belongings but either she doesn't take said opportunity or they end up at the next dump anyway.

as you know, in our AU viv and v will take her belongings to the badlands and start a bonfire. i believe there v will find a thing or two she wants to keep: some pictures, maybe some of viv's drawings and most importantly: her school uniform. :3c

👖 JEANS - what is their go-to outfit?

.... i think you get it lmao. lots of DIY as well, both repairs on the pieces of clothing she has and making them her own pieces. adding patches, cutting up one shirt with font on it to sew the letters back onto another one (usually crude messages like "SUCK MY DICK"), adding staples, pulltabs from nicola cans, pinching the metal bits from lighters onto the seams and all kinds of good old punk DIY. band merch is also big in theory but whenever i imagine her she's wearing a funny shirt rather than being a fangirl.

DIRTY TOO they are called crust pants for a REASON. 😤

one thing to keep in mind: if she's doing mercwork she wears something else entirely. difficult to sneak with all that leather and metal dangling around, right? usually some sneakers and pants she cant easily (and quietly) sneak in, a shirt with a stupid message on it and maybe even a cap with some sunglasses.

The usual murmur of bar noise, muted tv’s, an illuminated digital jukebox everyone has chosen to ignore. It might be Monday night. Possibly Tuesday. It’s the Tuesday bartender at least—doesn’t everyone tell time by who is bartending?

The same amber drink in the same 16 ounce glass. This one is chipped. Most of them are chipped because no one is as careful as they used to be. Two business men discuss cheating on their wives at the end of the bar in the same seats where a woman once confronted her boyfriend after she found out he was married.

Food, it’s ok. “It does the job,” as the regular patron next to me would probably say. The popping rip of pulltabs, gambling. A former line cook getting drunk instead of going home. He was going to propose last year, to his girlfriend. He probably returned the ring to have more money for gambling.

The bartender is sober for now. It comes and goes in cycles. The other bartender is sober because she’s pregnant. Let’s hope the rest don’t become pregnant—there’s only one male left.

The TV’s used to have subtitles on all the time, but not anymore. One drink, two drinks, “sure, a third,” and then “fuck it, a fourth.” Time to go home.
