Phil had a theory today that the code is a federation experiment gone wrong. He said that the code was originally supposed to be part of the eggs but the Federation screwed up while creating him which led him to being the code and the reason it majorly attacks eggs is because it is mourning the life that could have been and is envious of the others who succeeded. Same reason why it hates Federation or its allies because it holds them responsible for it's failed existence .

I’m so glad we’re talking about code egg again. I rb'd a post about it right before I got this ask thank you anon you mean the world to me. Here’s my interpretation based off recent lore, my og character design is here, more code egg ranty stuff under the cut.

In my original character design sheet I mentioned the code playing dress up to sort of adjust to living amongst the eggs which is a little too scarily accurate to current lore so I raise you this. First week none of the players really trust it but it disguises itself as Leo since Foolish has been the only one to really show interest in befriending the code. Q!Foolish isn’t dumb by any means, he knows this isn’t his child but seeing that it’s virtually harmless he takes it in hoping he can maybe get something out of it. What was once just Foolish humoring what is obviously not his kid gradually becomes actual love for it and it slowly starts to develop a personality outside of mimicking Leo.

I love drawing this guy it's so silly looking I'm just a sucker for powerful antagonists being rendered harmless.

The Codes stem from the Federation.

Now, this theory has been made before. In fact, I had said this in a theory, once. But, there was never a stone foundation to it -- it was mostly just dirt and an idea, a blueprint of a foundation. Now, after a Code appeared on the Old Federation Base, it has more structure, and makes a lot more sense.

Several books q!Cellbit found on the raid on the Federation spoke of an experiment. An experiment that went wrong, and that consumed a lot of water and a lot of electricity. Considering that, I'm fairly sure the divergence came from a disagreement regarding the 'experiments' the old Federation was conducting, made by what would become the Codes. And, if that's the case, then it might imply that... the players right now are part of the experiment. And that's why the Codes want them out of the Island. Because they absolutely DO NOT want that experiment to be completed, whatever it is.

If such is the case, then it is possible that today's stream (which was a Code giving coordinates to activate the train) was some sort of attempt to make the players escape the Island, which ultimately failed. And, by failing, it might've given the chance to the Federation to bring in more people, or, even better, release the people trapped in ice under the façade that they 'arrived' in the island by the train.

Whatever it is, I am almost sure that these past streams finally confirm that the Codes stem from the Federation, and that the players are part of an experiment conducted by them, which is heavily supported by the tape that showed the player's constructions, made before the Brazilians arrived.

...but one thing is still unclear: how exactly did the Codes take that form? Perhaps by dissenting they were made part of the experiment as punishment, and maybe managed to glitch themselves out of the 'matrix'? Maybe they were just removed from Quesadilla all together, and, again, managed to glitch themselves in, to warn the new members of the experiment about it.

...or, maybe, as q!Cellbit theorized, they were the experiment, which ultimately failed. And, if that's the case, then... well... this whole theory I just made suddenly becomes a lot weaker. (though it is still possible that they're there to prevent the Federation from conducting any more experiments and... well... generating another batch of Codes.)
