Insektober day 22: Masquerade! (sorry its late)

Queen Bakrakra and General Lukanus at the masquerade ball. Lukanus wishes to dance with the queen but alas, he's a never been much of a dancer and she hasn't moved her legs this much in years.... they'd be a disaster on the dance floor.

So instead Bakrakra will stand and watch her subjects like ants, while Lukanus scours the premises for a certain ant! (FULGOR!)

This piece takes place at the same time as day 7! Same masquerade ball. The whole Masquerade thing is an episode of my rewrite (still a WIP....) and @dnpanimationstudioclone came up w the idea for it! It's meant to go between Koa the Frog and The Reskue, a transitional state between the Kruds being unable to put a face on the Verigreen threat and the Kruds recognizing Fulgor as the main threat of Verigreen resistence (and Aelia, but they don't really take her seriously since they see her as a weak butterfly)

In my headcanon, Wasabi is in a current relationship with Queen Katheter as in the series, they seems to be interested with each other.

STORY TIME!

-Max puts on the headset using Synapse's Memory Projector. The machine turns on and Max appears in the Krud Throne Room as a hologram. He looks around and sees the audience and Draffsack waiting nervously. Kopius bangs his staff and announces Queen Katheter's arrival to the throne room-

Kopius: Quivering subjects, be upstanding on this auspicious day, as I give you the woman you love to hate: Queen Katheter!

Hologram Max: Mum!

-Max runs towards his mother and looks at her but she does not notice him.-

Hologram Max: Sorry I was late for your birthday. There was a field of Flowers and I was willing to give you some.

-Katheter still did not notice him. This is because he is using the Memory Projector and as a hologram, he can only view the events that are happening. This means they can't hear him, can't see him, and cannot feel him.-

Draffsack: Your Majesty... May the sun's rays never penetrate the darkness of your soul. May fresh air never alleviate the stench of your being. and may the- Queen Katheter: Where's my son?

Hologram Max: I'm right here, why can't anyone see me?

-Then a shine of Indigo is seen on the left, Hologram Synapse is formed-

Hologram Synapse: You're in the past.

Hologram Max: But I am.

Hologram Synapse: If you've used a time machine and interacted with everyone, they would notice you and it's very risky to interfere with the past. While using the Memory Projector, your body manifests into the form of a hologram, none of them will see us but we'll see them.

Hologram Max: So I just have to watch how it played out.

Hologram Synapse: Yes. It's just like watching a movie and I get the chance to take part in the ceremony.

-Synapse takes out of a popcorn out of thin air and munches on them-

Hologram Max: You didn't take part, guess that explains it. What were you doing during that time?

Hologram Synapse: Been busy working on Frogbucket.

-Then the past Max approaches the throne room.-

Kopius: Majesty, honored kruds; His tardiness, Prince Maximillian! -bangs his staff-

Hologram Max: There's me!

Hologram Synapse: Still the cheery krud, I've seen.

Hologram Max: But I know what happens next.

Max: Flowers just for you! Happy Birthday, Mum!

Queen Katheter: FLOWERS?!

-Draffsack snatches the flowers and throws them on the ground.-

Draffsack: FLOWERS? ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?!

Max and Hologram Max: What have I done?

Queen Katheter: You let me down again. You always let me down. DON'T EVEN SOUND LIKE ME!

-Draffsack stomps on the flowers. Hologram Max tries to stop him but is grabbed by Hologram Synapse.-

Draffsack: Why couldn't he give us soap on a rope like any normal son?!

Hologram Max: At the time, they didn't understand what the Verigreens were doing was good. All the Kruds care about is destroying their territory, taking their flowers and burning them as fuel.

Hologram Synapse: We were there before them and the prism changed everything and went against the veries. It would go on until Magus showed us the future and what we saw was tragedy for us and them. Thanks to him, we're now in alliance.

Hologram Max: Right! If there are any other tribes out there in Planet Krud, we'll be there to encounter them! If we do find a way home that is.

-Then they see something glowing behind them. They turn and see Max crouching, looking at the flowers as they grow. Hologram Max comes to him and crouches and watches as well.-

Max: That's amazing! That's incredible! That's beautiful!

Hologram Max: Just as I thought it would be.

     Based on characters from InseKtors. The one in the left is Queen Bakrakra, the right one is Drako, an oc of @almightyhamslice ​ and the kid is Max, the Queen’s son and one of the protagonists. I know it’s kind of sad for V-Day but aren’t many love stories like that?

(yesterday’s) prompt was ‘Love’

sorry it’s late

if I haven’t explained Lord Drako before, he’s Max’s dad. the spots all over his body are mold; he has a cordyceps-like disease and has to be quarantined for it. Queen Bakrakra and the rest of her bloodline are pretty long-lived (almost ridiculously so) but Drako ages normally, so despite being younger than Bakrakra, he’s very frail and affected by old age. As you might imagine, it was pretty devastating for Bakrakra to learn this.

Insektober day 1: Weather!

Prince Max and Queen Bakrakra enjoy a warm snowy day. Warm? Yeah warm! The snow is rainbow because it's weird warm snow generated by the Sky Breaker machine! I remember watching the original episode 10 and thinking it was strange that Bakrakra DIDNT have any opinion of the snow but Krabo considered it a failure anyways. Like wouldn't Bakrakra be stoked abt this weather??? it's warm AND it's fun! Maybe she'd be a little miffed or conflicted since its so colorful... but who cares abt that when it's exactly what she needed!!! idk. Wasted opportunity IMO. I think the rainbow snow's pretty OP.

So in my actual drawing Bakrakra has been sitting outside in the snow for a while and is very uncertain abt the whole thing, I guess reconsidering her thoughts abt... everything tbh. Isn't it interesting how your mind clears when it feels like you're in less pain than usual? That's why I think the rainbow snow's OP-- if Bakrakra was just operating at her proper temperature she'd have a better grasp on her kingdom and the wants and needs of the Kruds, PLUS the Kruds wouldn't have to fuel the Hypotherm anymore so it'd be a net positive for everyone... except for KRABO, because he'd lose his control over the other Kruds that way. GOD now that I think abt it Bakrakra's situation is way more interesting than I expected it to be upon my first few viewings of Insektors... they rlly could've explored that well I think!

I don't think Bakrakra is a particularly compassionate person nor do I think she has much regard for the Verigreens, but unlike Krabo, she is willing to put aside her hatred for them when it benefits her directly or indirectly (wow what a saint LOL), whereas Krabo is so stubborn he would never accept help from the Verigreens even if his life depended on it. So I suppose even though Bakrakra is often made out to be the more imposing threat, Krabo is the largest threat to Joyceland as a whole and, honestly also the Kruds themselves. I just thought that was fascinating tbh!

Anywayz I hope u liked my post and my ramblings today. I like Bakrakra a lot! And I am doing Insektober again just like I did last year, funny random color schemes included!

Chromaverse Daily Art Challenge - Day 21: Romance

Aside from going on adventures, fighting and enjoying the human world, Wasabi misses Queen Katheter and always thinks of her safety while he and the others are away from Planet Krud. She's taking care of things and hopes that they'll be reunited once Wasabi and his friends find a way home.

If they do, Wasabi could invite Katheter to the human world but what she doesn't know is that Wasabi and the others are teenagers in that world. This could be a problem if she finds out.

Saw ur insektors art Of Alex and Max. Its sweet. If u could reboot the show, what would u do, story and character wise? Anything you’d change?

Thanks! Also this is a very interesting question, I like it a lot... I hesitated to answer it bc I kinda wanted to draw something for it but I'm already swamped so I think for now I'll leave it without drawings & maybe reblog it later with illustrations.

So firstly I would try to homogenize aspects from the NA dub and the UK dub, because I liked a bit of both. I really preferred the characterizations and voices of Draffsack and Queen Katheter from the UK version (though I'd likely keep their names as Krabo and Queen Bakrakra as originally intended) and I also like that they decided Peg should be female (since there were only 2 female characters in the main cast in the NA version). However, other characters were definitely better in the NA version, like Lukanus and Kretinus (Lukanus especially JFC lmao). Plus, I found Fulgor much less obnoxious in the NA version than in the UK version, so that's definitely a big thing. In terms of character names I would likely either isolate one name as the definitive character name OR keep both, with one being the first name & the other being the surname.

I'd also probably include a few more background characters... particularly in Flowered City, to make it feel less... sparse? Like ok, Krud City does feel like a city because there's always tons of little guys running around in there, and it's HUGE. Flowered City feels like a very small settlement populated by only a few Verigreens, even though it's also a city.

Story-wise, I'm not sure if I'd reboot it so much as continue it, but I'd certainly elaborate more on Magus' integration into Verigreen society after the events of the final episode. Maybe he becomes a Verigreen himself? What if Prince Maximus was to become a Verigreen as well? Honestly I have kind of toyed with the idea of doing some kind of mass villain redemption deal, with Teknocratus being first because he was actually able to cooperate with Pyro in The Komet (plus, everyone likes Teknocratus! He's def a fan favorite LOL).

I also think it could be interesting to explore more of Bakrakra's backstory and personality, like why is she so cold all the time? Is she sick? Can she be colored like the other Kruds can, or is she immune like Krabo? How does she feel about her subjects? What is her relationship with Lukanus like? I think in the actual show she really got overshadowed by Krabo. Maybe that's the point? I mean, Krabo's name does start with a K & there's K's on EVERYTHING, maybe the point is that he's a megalomaniac and is taking advantage of Bakrakra's illness to rule in her stead? That'd be pretty fucked up, but a very interesting story idea I think.

Though, it could also be interesting to explore Krabo more as a character. Like I said he's really entertaining in the UK dub and also super interesting because he's the only Krud (that we know of) who is completely immune to the effects of pollen or color weapons. Does this mean that he's just so far gone and so vile that he can't be redeemed? Not to mention, his persistence is insane. He's in every episode except for one. He is a cockroach, so it's only fitting. I think there should definitely be more Krabo, even though there's already a lot. LOL.

But yeah ultimately if I was gonna work on some kind of Insektors project I'd want 2 main things: closure, and stronger characterization. Oh also I really liked those episodes where Max was treated like a 3rd main character. He should just be a mainstay at this point and Alex should appear more frequently as well. That's all I got for now lol
