Amy, even with a talent for tracking things (like blue hedgehogs), finds herself to be sorta extremely lost. All she wants is to visit a pastry shop to treat herself to a tasty dessert or two, but it seems like she took a wrong turn along the way. Rookie mistake...

She glances around the area, watching citizens pass her by. It would be a great idea to ask for directions, though she doesn’t want to bother anyone that looks too busy. She settles on a man standing a little bit ahead of her and hopes that she isn’t interrupting anything.

“O-oh wow, so tall,” she mutters under her breath, reaching on her tippy-toes to gently tap his back, “Sorry, but can you direct me to any good bakeries? Only if you’re free, of course!”

The honest answer to that is not, not really. He knows in theory what a meme is. Hizashi sends him plenty in their hell of a group chat (or did, considering Koi’s wifi signal doesn’t exactly stretch across dimensions). That does not, however, mean he understands the humour value of memes or why anyone decides to produce them.

“Nonsense jokes kids laugh at, as far as I’m aware. Why did you need this explained?” If Shouta Aizawa, master of not caring about jokes, can have the knowledge of what a meme is already forced upon him, surely everyone else has already gone through the same procedure. Please, stranger, cherish your ignorance and move on. For your own sake.

Nonsense, huh? He had heard the word around a couple of times now after starting to mingle more with people, but he couldn’t say that he fully understood what the word meant, and looking it up online had only provided him with weird pictures, sometimes with text. So they were supposed to have comedic value? Humanity never ceased to take him by surprise in uniqueness uniqueness and incomprehensibility.

“I don’t understand them,” he explained as to the simple reason why he wanted an explanation. Ask if you don’t understand, this is what he has learnt in the past years, for if you don’t ask you will never know. “If a meme is a picture with a punchline, isn’t that instead what you call a comic? But something like a dab or these jazz hands thing aren’t a comic, but they’re also memes. I’m confused.”

ranpo has learned to blur out the background noise in the agency - back home, and here as well - but had it on as long as there were people around out of habit. koi city doesn’t have good channels, he thinks, and keeps it on the news in case something bad happens. he’s known since he’s gotten here something was bound to happen. something heavy, something dark. lo and behold, he’s not surprised when the warning of a serial killer hits his ears, and brows raise sharply.

serial killer... well, that’s just perfect! a fun case that makes just right for an entrance exam on top of something interesting to do. with a grin, he snatches his phone, standing to his feet.

“aizawa-san, what say you and i head over to the belladonna district?”
