Australian Omens(?)
Crowley as a Tasmanian Devil Aziraphale as a Quokka
artist’s commentary under the cut
So we all agree that quokkas look like Aziraphale? I know the red-bellied black snake would also qualify for this idea, but I wanted them both to be fluffy. So Crowley is a tasmanian devil. They seem to scream a lot, so he’s yelling at a plant.

I have seen a quokka Aziraphale before I think, but I wanted to draw him anyway, and add a fossa Crowley 🧡

Aziraphale made quokkas so the australians would have at least ONE happy non-threatening animal down under (the quokka also represents aziraphale’s inner desire to make friends with everyone but thats more of a sub-conscious thing)

(Editor’s Note: Meanwhile, Crowley made the rest of the animals in Australia.)

Inspired by @mrghostrat to add some good old fashioned Aussie flair to the boys! Aziraphale as a Quokka is done to death I KNOW stop yelling. But to try and do something a bit different for Crowley I decided to go with the Grey-Headed Flying Fox, the goodest winged boi to ever exist. They can be intimidating with their large wingspan and bat-like appearance, but they're just big sky puppies, really, which I thought suited Crowley really well! They're also massive nuisances which I thought suited Crowley even more.
I've been picking up my pencils again for the first time in years so I hope to keep improving, I'm loving Aussie!Omens!
Thank you Ghost Rat for the continued inspiration to get back into art <3

Some more Aussie!Omens sketching to try and develop a more organic style, so they all look a bit different! Definitely prefer the cuter, larger nosed Quokka Aziraphales!
Loving the unintentionally perfect dynamic of the upside-down Flying Fox Crowleys to the upright Azi's! Pretend I did that on purpose.

WIP - "The Fall" Comic
Rough start on this comic that was floating about in my brain while being balls deep in Aussie!Omens hyper fixation. Way too ambitious for my current digital painting skill level but hey, hyper fixations aren't here to promote patience. I was thinking about how Flying Foxes in Australia have been historically persecuted and slaughtered for simply being what they are. They eat fruit and make lots of mess, and a lot of people thought they deserved death for that, despite the fact that we as humans are the ones moving into their homes and territories. I thought it sounded a lot like Crowley's fall, and how we can demonize certain species just for being themselves. So I wanted to recreate Crowley's fall showing a native animal that has been persecuted (Flying Foxes) and a native animal that is loved and adored worldwide (Quokka's) and how that can be a mirror for angels/demons. I shall keep practicing and adding to this until I can call it finished! I'd love to write a poem or something to accompany it too. Would love to hear your thoughts on it so far!

Finally finished this expression study of Sassy Quokka Aziraphale I've had sitting unfinished for like a month. Inspired by this group of classic Aziraphale faces from a "What Aziraphale are you today" poll:
