You may remember Abu Lahab as Muhammad's uncle who said:

"Muhammad is my nephew and I know him better than anyone and he is a liar so do not believe him."

Abu Lahab is one of the few explicitly named people in the quran. Surah al-Masad, aka Surah al-Lahab (surah 111) is only five ayahs long, but is entirely about him.

It is reported on the authority of Ibn 'Abbas that when this verse was revealed: " And warn thy nearest kindred" (and thy group of selected people among them) the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) set off till he climbed Safa' and called loudly: Be on your guard! They said: Who is it calling aloud? They said: Muhammad. They gathered round him, and he said: O sons of so and so, O sons of so and so, O sons of 'Abd Manaf, O sons of 'Abd al-Muttalib, and they gathered around him. He (the Apostle) said: If I were to inform you that there were horsemen emerging out of the foot of this mountain, would you believe me? They said: We have not experienced any lie from you. He said: Well, I am a warner to you before a severe torment. He (the narrator) said that Abu Lahab then said: Destruction to you! Is it for this you have gathered us? He (the Holy Prophet) then stood up, and this verse was revealed:" Perish the hands of Abu Lahab, and he indeed perished" (cxi. 1). A'mash recited this to the end of the Sura.

This is "I'm rubber and you're glue..." Or perhaps the world's first diss track. Allah even gets in a dig about Lahab's wife being a former slave.

Don't forget though, that Islamic mythology insists that the quran is not being authored by Allah. It always existed, "uncreated," alongside Allah. So Muslims are obliged to believe that Surah al-Lahab existed before the universe itself existed.

Apparently Allah wasn't smart enough to warn Muhammad to steer clear of Lahab, who would make him look stupid. Nor was Allah even the more mature one, taking the high road and telling Muhammad that it doesn't matter what one minor human says about the prophet of the master and creator of the entire universe.

Things become more interesting and make much more sense given that Muhammad had been hoping Lahab, who was quite wealthy and influential, would fund and endorse his dawah, his mission to spread Islam and convert people. Suddenly this surah makes much more sense.

This is all just out there in the open. It's not a secret or forbidden knowledge. You're supposed to look at this and think, wow, Allah sure is great and wise.

What are the best arguments to disbelieve Hadith?

The argument goes like this: if the Prophet left behind a completed Quran that he had compiled, verified, and authenticated, then why did he not also leave behind a Hadith book that he had compiled, verified, and authenticated?

Rather, the Prophet had stated, as reported in the Hadith books:

“Do not write anything from me; whoever has written anything from me other than the Qur'an, let him erase it and narrate from me, for there is nothing wrong with that.” (Narrated by Muslim, al-Zuhd wa’l-Raqaa’iq, 5326)

This Hadith is consistent with the following verse and numerous other verses of the Quran that are similar to it:

"These are Ayaatullahe (‘Statements of Allah’) which We reproduce unto you in original. Then in which Hadees — after Allah and His Ayaat, the people will develop Faith" ( Al Quran# 45:6, Translation- Dr. Kamal Omar)

The Quran contains numerous verses that point to the fact that the Prophet, peace be upon him, left a complete copy of the Quran written on parchment. Therefore, it stands to reason that, had it been necessary, the Prophet would have also compiled the Hadith, just as he did with the Quran; he wouldn't have left this crucial work to feeble humans who are inherently argumentative to be compiled centuries later.

However, the Hadith can be regarded as a source of information about Islamic history and culture at the time of the Prophet as long as it does not contradict the narratives of the Quran. But it shouldn't be used as the foundation for Islamic Jurisprudence or guidance.

Then what, one would wonder, about following the Prophet's example, otherwise known as Sunnah?

God indeed said in numerous verses of the Quran, that requires we only follow the Prophet's example from the Quran. God did not imply that we should follow "Sunnah" from extra-Quranic sources, such as the works of Bukhari and Muslim and others alike, and the scholars, i.e., Imam Abu Hanifa and Imam Malik who claimed that Hadith can abrogate the Quran.

Here are a few more verses that highlight the Quran's completeness and clarity one must ponder:

Surah Al-Ma'idah (Chapter 5), Verse 3: "This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion."

Surah Al-Nahl (Chapter 16), Verse 89: "And We sent down the Book to you [O Muhammad] as a clear expression of the truth for all that it contains and as guidance and grace and good tidings for those who have surrendered themselves to God."

Surah Al-Yusuf (Chapter 12), Verse 111: "Indeed in their stories, there is a lesson for men of understanding. It [the Quran] is not a forged statement but a confirmation of Allah's existing Books [the Torah and the Gospel], a detailed explanation of everything, a guide, and a Mercy for the people who believe."

Contrary to what traditionalists believe, the aforementioned verses declare that Allah has completed His favor upon the believers and completed the religion of Islam without calling for a further explanation of its verses.

Is there an afterlife that is better than this one? Muhammad said there are 72 virgins in heaven waiting to serve us. They clearly exist on either side of a membrane delimited by the Quran. From an earlier post I discovered these details about the contents of heaven:

وَلَوْ أَنَّنَا نَزَّلْنَا إِلَيْهِمُ الْمَلَائِكَةَ وَكَلَّمَهُمُ الْمَوْتَىٰ وَحَشَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ قُبُلًا مَّا كَانُوا لِيُؤْمِنُوا إِلَّا أَن يَشَاءَ اللَّهُ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ يَجْهَلُونَ [Quran 6:111]

a. The Value in Gematria is 9465, טד‎ו‎‎ה, tadda, more and more..." understanding of love vs. desire.

b. The Value in Gematria is 12204, יב‎באֶפֶס‎ד‎, 12 in Eps, these are the Twelve Imams, and the Eps refers to the instrumental division between mankind and the lesser half that refuses to organize and civilize:

"The forms ספף (spp), סוף (swp) and ספה (sph), and secondarily the (semi-)homophones שפה (sph), שוף (swp) and שפף (spp) all appear to describe various aspects of a primary Biblical principle, namely the division of one continuum into two continuums (one greater and one lesser) by means of a divider.

The greater half will commonly begin to organize internally around a specific information-containing nucleus, while the other half doesn't.

The divider is commonly equipped with luminaries (fires, stars, etcetera; note that the word להב, lahab, means flame and also denotes the blade of a sword; the quintessential instrument of division)."

On one side of heaven is love, the other is desire. About this the Quran adds in An Nahl:

16: 22-25:

Your God is ˹only˺ One God. As for those who do not believe in the Hereafter, their hearts are in denial, and they are too proud.

Without a doubt, Allah knows what they conceal and what they reveal. He certainly does not like those who are too proud.

And when it is said to them, “What has your Lord revealed?” They say, “Ancient fables!”

Let them bear their burdens in full on the Day of Judgment as well as some of the burdens of those they mislead without knowledge. Evil indeed is what they will bear!

Commentary:

The previous frame states one cannot attain to heaven without seeing the the stars in the sky. Not only did Muhammad refer to the Fourth Day the moment the age of reason dawns in sentient beings, but it is also the moment the firmament in the mind divides as the ego learns to translate what is real what is false, whether or not the burden of pride is worth bearing, and how to empathize and love others.

Without the kind of discipline that is explained in documents like the Torah and the Quran such a experiences created by the "stars" are not easy to come by and less easier still shall be the traversal through the final passageway to heaven without their guidance.

So as I have said one must adhere to the Pillar called Dua on the Quran if one wants to enter Jannah, the heavens during the Hour. It is true as the Quran says this depends on the central nucleus, which is the evidence of how well one concentrated on showing love in life. Without this guiding light, one will find the way to the afterlife is barred.

39:12: "And I am commanded to be the first of those who submit to His Will."

6:14: Say, O Prophet, "Will I take any guardian other than God, the Originator of the heavens and the earth, Who provides for all and is not in need of provision?" Say, "I have been commanded to be the first to submit and not be one of the polytheists."

6:163: "...He has no partner. So I am commanded, and so I am the first to submit."

7:143: When Moses came at the appointed time and his lord spoke to him, he asked, "My Lord! Reveal Yourself to me so I may see You!" God answered, "You cannot see Me! But look at the mountain. If it remains firm in its place, only then will you see me." When his Lord appeared to the mountain, he levelled it to dust and Moses collapsed unconscious. When he recovered, he cried, "Glory be to You! I turn to You in repentance and I am the first of the believers!"

2:132: This was the advice of Abraham---as well as Jacob---to his children, saying, "Indeed, God had chosen for you this faith; so do not die except in a state of full submission."

2:37: Then Adam was inspired with words of prayer by his Lord, so he accepted his repentance. Surely He is the Acceptor of Repentance, Most Merciful.

3:33: Indeed, God chose Adam, Noah, the family of Abraham, and the family of Imran above all people of their time.

26:51: "We really hope that our Lord will forgive our sins, as we are the first to believe."

3:52: When Jesus sensed disbelief from his people, he asked, "Who will stand up with me for God? The disciples replied, "We will stand up for God. We believe in God, so bear witness that we have submitted."

5:111: And how I inspired the disciples, "Believe in me and My Messenger!" They declared, "We believe and bear witness that we fully submit to God."

I thin this is an argument of semantics. "Muslim" can refer to a follower of the Prophet, or it can refer to anyone who fully submits to God. I'm also curious to know if the various prophets in the Quran are considered "Muslims," or if their assigned role places them as favored/not a "standard" believer. There may also be consideration for the shahada being stated to resolve this alleged contradiction.

The first to submit would have been Adam. The first of Mohammed's followers would have been titled "Muslims." I don't see any contradictions here, at present.

Sûrat Al- Kâfirûn

( The Disbelievers ) CIX

In the Name of Allâh,

the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

1. Say: ( O Muhammad ( saas ) to these Mushrikûn and Kâfirûn ) : « O Al- Kafirûn ( disbelievers in Allâh, in His Oneness, in His Angels, in His Books, in His Messengers, in the Day of Resurrection, and in Al- Qadar ) !»

2. « I worship not that which you worship,»

3. « Nor will you worship that which I worship.»

4. « And I shall not worship that which you are worshipping.»

5. « Nor will you worship that which I worship.»

6. « To you be your religion, and to me my religion ( Islâmic Monotheism ) . »

Sûrat An- Nasr

( The Help ) CX

In the Name of Allâh,

the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

1. When there comes the Help of Allâh ( to you, O Muhammad ( saas ) against your enemies ) and the conquest ( of Makkah ) .

2. And you see that the people enter Allah’s religion ( Islâm ) in crowds.

3. So glorify the Praises of your Lord, and ask His Forgiveness. Verily, He is the One Who accepts the repentance and Who forgives.

Sûrat Al- Masad

( The Palm Fibre ) CXI

In the Name of Allâh,

the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

1. Perish the two hands of Abû Lahab ( an uncle of the Prophet ) and perish he! [ 1 ]

2. His wealth and his children will not benefit him!

3. He will be burnt in a Fire of blazing flames!

4. And his wife, too, who carries wood ( thorns of Sa‘dân which she used to put on the way of the Prophet ( saas ) , or use to slander him ) . [ 2 ]

5. In her neck is a twisted rope of Masad ( palm fibre ) . [ 3 ]
