headcanon that percy and annabeth’s first baby’s favorite toy is a rubix cube. and when he’s an itty bitty baby, he just likes to hold it and wave it around and look at the colors. but then as he gets a little older, and you know, develops fine motor skills, he starts twisting it. he probably solves it for the first time when he’s like 1, which makes percy jump up and down over how genius his baby boy (OR GIRL @screenshotsonpinterest) is

and i don’t know why or when or how, but i know for a fact that at some point, that baby chucks that thing right at zeus. and it hits him square in the forehead. perfect shot.

Some of my random pjo headcanons

-piper is a graphic liner girly, you cant convince me otherwise. She will try some creative designs and experiment with colors. If you want to have a perfect liquid eyeliner, shes the one to go to. However, she cannot do eyeshadow.

-jason gifted piper a necklace with a bolt and piper gifted jason a bracelet with a heart. They did this while they were dating so that no matter what happenned to them, they will know that what they have was real and not made up. After jasons death piper refuses to take the necklace off and always wears it in his memory.(this is cheessy as fuck but i did it in my drawing and now this is my thought process)

-if an aphrodite kid is charmspeaking, their eyes will turn sighlty pink, or like have a subtle glint in their eyes.

-thalia also does make up, but very very out there, heavy eyeliner, black eyeshadow, the opposite of subtle. She also is the go to person to give you piercings. She did most of the one she has herself

-percy is the type of guy to have a disposable camera and just take photos of everything(annabeth) and make a photo album

-rachel makes jewelery, mostly rings and charm bracelets

-frank has a very active letterboxd account. He loves wes anderson and his four favorite movies are grand hotel budapest, how to train your dragon, knives out and spiderman into the spiderverse.

-in adition to this he goes on and on about movies and the cinematography and hazel loves to hear him rant about it.

-hazel is the best at finding the perfect seats to a concert. Shes the one fighting for her life in the front lines to get the best seats and somehow she always does.

-grover is an excellent cook. Whatever you want, he can make it. Also, he bakes something for everyone of percys birthdays, trying different things each year.

bc imagine you’re black annabeth chase and you meet this cute little white boy and fall in love with him. and one day you find him hanging out with a white girl?? and shes obviously into him???

now annabeth is facing a very realistic women of color (especially black women) fear. feeling like you don’t compare to your crush’s other interest because of your skin color and not being able to do anything about it.

i thought it would be fun to try to draw a bunch of percy jackson characters from memory as someone who hasn’t read the books in over half a decade. so here they are (plus some random flavor text)

pov the last thing percy sees before having to fight a army of skeletons because he pissed off the wrong 10 year old gay italian necromancer:

i knew percy jackson was superior to harry potter when both series introduced a love triangle in the last second book to cause angst between the main pairing and how both authors handled it so differently.

we had jkr, who turned lavender into a joke and mocked her interests and whole character, looked down upon her for being a teenager with a crush just to uplift hermione as the better love interest for ron and handled the whole triangle with very obvious misogynistic undertones to show why hermione is superior to the other woman™.

and then we had rick, who treated rachel with respect and gave her a likable personality and goals and interests of her own, had percy and rachel develop a genuine friendship and even gave rachel some iconic moments to shine on her own, never bashed rachel to uplift annabeth and most importantly concluded the love triangle with annabeth and rachel becoming friends and letting go of their past beef.

yeah, botl-tlo was messy. yes it was chaotically angsty. but you know what would have made it more messy and chaotic and angsty? if rachel was a guy 👀

rachel didn’t start drawing till middle school when the visions and creatures got to be too much. her therapist recommended it to her to relieve stress and anxiety. her first drawing was stupidly bad. mainly because, she thought it was not worth it but she came back to it a few months later when she couldn’t handle it anymore. she slowly progressed and it made life easier even if she sucked. in 7th grade she took two art classes, one for painting and the other 3d art. In one she fell in love with painting, specifically oil paints, because she could work on it as slowly as she wanted. with her oil paints and visions became more detailed, the more beauty but also deep horror she expressed in them.

rachel dare wasn’t a protege but she was something with a paint brush.

i like to think that rachel would paint pictures of people she saw and all the book characters she read about

she would go to pottery places and paint monets on bowls to give to camp halfblood. and they would give her suggestions for what she could paint.

she would help the aphrodite kids bleach and tiedye their camp shirts, towels and sheets. they would teach her how to make natural paints and makeup from flowers and fruits

she would make murals on the sides of the training equipment with the apollo and hermes kids. she would help the demeter kids make clay handles for their gardening tools and paint them whatever they wanted.

she would be everyone’s best friend. even clarisse would secretly go to pottery with her
