Does Labkoto fall ill often due to his body being mutated?

Yes, Labkoto has an extremely fragile immune system — worse than classic Yuma and classic Makoto. He gets sick easily and becomes emotionally regressed, acting like a clingy child around Shuichi. Symptoms include fever, headache, runny nose, sweating, noise/touch sensitivity, and trouble breathing. He dislikes being cared for by Shuichi's boss (a cold, distant Yuma variant) and gets jealous if Shuichi gives him more attention. Ironically, that Yuma also gets sick from overwork, so Shuichi ends up caring for both. 🎭🧪

Shuichi keeps the place clean, offers simple food and natural remedies (Labkoto doesn’t trust medicine), and tries to keep the cold out during winter. Stress or using his weak Coalescence can worsen his condition. If Shuichi gets sick, Labkoto tries to help—even if he messes up, like making terrible soup (he and his original can’t cook). Shuichi wasn’t meant to be the focus, but since he's my favorite, and you're used to seeing him suffer... you could replace him with an OC or new Rain Code character. Still, I think Mentor Yuma deserves exploration—it’s an interesting concept.

I should draw him more. You can still imagine cute scenes between two short kings who clearly hate/dislike each other here. And also, Number One's coldness and irritation is just a mask.

The comparison that can be drawn between Izuru and Makoto Kagutsuchi is so obvious.

But it's also so interesting because of the fact that Makoto is like a reverse Izuru in a way.

They're both monstrous science experiments who were made from the body of the protagonists of their respective games. However, whereas Izuru had lost his personality and humanity in the process, Makoto had actually become more human in the process of becoming a monster.

Hajime sold his soul to become something else. Izuru, without a sense of self, did not care about anything but perfectionism. Due to this however, he could not understand that the humanity behind imperfections is essential to the joy of creation and the purpose to living.

Makoto's human progenitor, Number One, is the detached perfectionist who lacked the emotion to understand that part of being human includes some subjectivity and imperfect solutions. The non-human homunculus, Makoto, grew so desperate for a sense of belonging that he acted on emotion and performed necessary evils just to maintain it.

Makoto lied, he killed, he participated in desperate meaningless prayer, and he carried too much emotion and grief for his soul to bear all for the love of the place he felt he belonged. As far as the impression we were given, Number One cared about nothing but achieving his impossible goal by reaching a perfect solution through a pragmatic singular truth, and ended up selling his soul for it.

And ironically, Yuma had also gained a sense of self and emotion upon Number One selling his soul. He had become imperfect, and therefore more human. And yet, what distinguishes Yuma from either Number One or Makoto is his lack of a grand purpose. All he had was a sense of justice and an instinct to help people around him, and pondering his purpose was also a part of his own subjective human experience.

I love the way they all explore the philosophy behind the relationship between ego, purpose, perfectionism, subjectivity, and humanity.

Since you made Makiko, what would the girl version of Yuma be like?

Mmmmmm, I've already thought about the genderbend version of Yuma, but I'm kind of undecided what she would be like.

She could probably be called "Yuna Kokohead", about her look, I was thinking about the issue of Yuma and Makoto being opposites, Makiko has a feminine and flashy look in terms of being half sexy, so Yuna could be the opposite, her skirt is longer and her hair is longer than Makiko's, yes, Yuna with long hair would have longer hair than Makoto and Number One, but there's also the other look, she has short hair and wears shorts instead of a skirt, girls with short hair are beautiful too. This second look probably wouldn't be that different from her male counterpart, Could she have short hair and wear a skirt, or long hair and wear shorts? I don't know, she looks good in either. 😵‍💫

If I were to draw her more, I'd probably use the one with longer hair. Although Yuma looks cute either way, male, female, none. About her personality? She wouldn't change much from Yuma to be honest, maybe she would be a lot more shy and closed than him, Makiko is energetic.

Her pregame version could keep her hair in a low bun, or cut it, who knows? I don't have much to think about her, other than I think she's adorable. I don't know if I'll draw her more.

I want to see her kissing a pretty girl. 😋

He's also a God but for death-related knowledge (I imagine there's other book gods) and somebody sealed Shinigami inside his pages. Now you may be asking.
