so i found out from reading a goddamn spn wiki that my sister had attended the soapbox derby in 2008 that padalecki and ackles were in?? i went and found her journal entry from back then which was “After they slid gracelessly down the street, they proceeded to crawl out and and sit RIGHT IN FRONT OF US” and then she snapped these haphazard photos. 

i confronted her about it now that we’re finally watching past s2 of spn fifteen years later and she was like “...i have absolutely no memory of this” 😫 living in vancouver is so stupid ahahhaah

It is pouring rain and I love it so much. Few things make me happier and more sensory YES than rain (especially when I don't have to go somewhere, but even going out I love it)

I'm the person who gets more depressed in the heat of summer. My seasonal affective disorder takes place in the sunny months. Bring on the rain and bring on my joy!

Got a bit wet.

One rationalization of my new bike with disk brakes was wet riding. Aluminum rims in the wet get ground down with the muck and they don't work very well at that. Not having rim brakes also simplifies fenders (or mud guards for you UKrs).

With only a bit of regret for getting her dirty I went out in weather that predicted rain. The first half was damp, but rain did not get serious until I turned for home.

I have full fenders. I had waterproof socks (showers pass brand) boot covers, full rain pants, four layers on top and a bike helmet cover. I was ready as I could be.

I did only 53 km as I had missed a couple days with "stuff" to do so did not feel great. There was a stiff SE wind which meant my first leg out bound was half dead head wind and half not so bad cross wind. The wind made me cut short the ride as my longer loop would have had too damn much head wind. As it was there was more than enough.

I have been out in stupid weather. More than once beating into a 20 to 30 kph head wind in rain and cold in early season weekday rides. You get to collect war stories with that. And headwinds are like hills so it helps climbing. Not pleasant I assure you. But once you have done it and survived it means more days available to ride. They call this area Raincouver. From October to June it rains a lot.

The rain beat down on my loop back and frankly you do not think about it. Too late for that, just got to get home and dried off. Who needs motivation when all you want is for it to be over.

As I keep the bike in the house I have to hose her down after the ride. The dirt does not stick too bad when it is fresh. I also wipe down the frame with a microfiber cloth to prevent drips. The big item is blasting the chain and derailleurs with WD40 to get the muck out. Summer is so much simpler.

I am a bit better than last year at this time. I am a bit behind my 5 year average. March is usually the first month to hit good numbers but the weather has to cooperate. Daylight savings time starts which means after work rides in the real world can happen.

The bike club is far more social than Lotus was. Tonight I am going to a pub night trivia contest with some of the people. I have just about got more names sorted out to the faces. Last week they came in first and third place as we had to break into two groups. I was in the 3rd place group. I don't know anything about old movies about high school problems.
