Q: What's your favorite picture book or children's book?. I don't often read picture books anymore as an adult, but Tofu Takes Time by @helenhwu caught my attention and I loved it! This is an adorable story of time spent between a girl and her grandmother, with the girl learning patience. NaiNai (grandma) is cooking tofu but Lin wants it *now* - but NaiNai tells Lin good things take time and to practice patience. Everything is a process and Lin learns that everything comes from somewhere - be it the soil, or the river, or the sun. The artwork in this is so cute, its simplistic but also whimsical in parts. Any child would enjoy this book about family relations between a child and grandparent. I loved these preorder goodies Helen offered for preorders or library requests - and I picked up the physical copy to read which my library did purchase! Z and I had a day of reading today. Right after breakfast he wanted to finish the book we started a few days ago, so we did that. Then before bed we started and completed another book and then read 8 chapters of a third book. By this point he couldn't keep he's eyes open and I insisted he go to bed. Last night Z and I finished this book. Z and I were not able to read much this weekend as we were in the USA in my parents motorhome. It was so hot and humid we had to keep the generator and the AC running and it was a little too loud for a little guys with hypersensitive heading to focus on me reading to him and have those sounds running.
