Album Number Two Hundred Seventy Nine. “Crazy Horse” is their eponymous debut album, released in 1971 by #repriserecords , It is the only album by the band to feature #dannywhitten recorded without #neilyoung and it peaked at #84 on the Billboard 200 album chart. My copy (copies) are the Reprise Records release from 1971 - RS 6438, and a 1986 rerelease on Edsel Records, a division of Demon Records, Ltd - ED175. Members of this band had already released an album in 1968 as The Rockets and had appeared on record twice with Neil Young as #crazyhorse . The core trio from the Rockets, Danny Whitten, #billytalbot , and #ralphmolina , provided instrumental backing for Young's 1969 album #everybodyknowsthisisnowhere and performed on some songs from Young's 1970 album #afterthegoldrush . Producer/keyboardist #jacknitzsche , who had been a member of Phil Spector's Wrecking Crew and played on records by The Rolling Stones, had worked with Young on his debut solo album and on tracks for #buffalospringfield . He was drafted into Crazy Horse to back up Young on their short tour in early 1970. During sessions for Gold Rush, they met teenage multi-instrumentalist #nilslofgren , who joined the band in time for this album. “Ragged Glory” is the 18th studio album by Neil Young, and his sixth album with the band Crazy Horse. It was released by Reprise Records on September 9, 1990. My copy is catalog 1-26315, on Reprise. This is a refreshing album, bringing back the Neil Young and Crazy Horse that I really like. — The Ragged Glory sessions took place in April 1990 at Young's Broken Arrow Ranch. The band played a set of songs twice a day for a couple of weeks (never repeating the same songs in a set), then went back, listened and chose the best takes.
