I’m really really proud of where I got my hair after the PP hair loss shit show 🥲
Bald spots + a terribly too short cut at 6 months PP sent me on a mission. I will regrow this mane to its former glory, IDC how much it costs 😅
I did a rosemary mint oil + gua sha for months (Mielle @ Target) and it was honestly great 👍🏽
For almost a year though, I’ve had my eye on this oil by Ranavat.
Tumblr media
It’s a Se Asian, woman owned company. The CEO shows you her hair transformation from PP after 2 pregnancies to now at 41 and it’s like 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
But even after a year of monitoring this product I’m just so annoyed by the price. I was ready to buy it as a Xmas gift to myself but figured I should look up the ingredients and see if I can replicate it. Turns out it’s only 3 ingredients! I would love to support this company if I had this kinda dough to spend on hair oil but I don’t. So! Going to make my own and give to my clients too 🫶🏽
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For $30, I can probably make like 8 bottles worth of this $70 (per 1.7oz) hair serum 👌🏽✨

Why the ancient Indian art of hair oiling is the secret to healthier hair
Tumblr media
Article from Vogue
When we first encounter Kate Sharma in Bridgerton Season 2, it's not so much her horsemanship that catches our attention but her gleaming, gloriously thick head of hair. A few episodes later her secret is revealed and it's just one of many reasons to fall in love with the Indian hair oiling technique “In Sanskrit, ‘sneha’ means both ‘to love’ and ‘to oil’,” says Akash Mehta who, together with his sister Nikita, founded Fable & Mane, a haircare line inspired by the Indian traditions and ancient fables they grew up with. “So in Ayurveda, the act of self-love literally starts at the crown." Specifically, Mehta is referring to hair oiling, a centuries-old ritual that is currently appealing to a very modern audience. In recent years, Ayurveda-inspired wellness practices have become a part of our every day lives without us necessarily realising it – drinking hot water with lemon in the morning to flush out toxins, dry brushing, doing yoga or knocking back a turmeric latte. But hair oiling remained shrouded in mystery. However, ever since the infamous scene in Bridgerton where Miss Kate Sharma is seen massaging oil into her younger sister Edwina’s hair, the practice has quietly been rising in popularity, stealing the spotlight away from simple masks for shiny, strong strands. A moment of cultural significance, it revealed hair oiling to be both an act of tenderness and familial bonding. Similarly, both Akash and Nikita recall their grandmother treating their lacklustre hair by massaging a blend of handcrafted oils into the scalp. “She would focus on the crown chakra to alleviate tension from the very roots of the hair, all the while soothingly recounting fantastic fables about India’s rich plant and animal kingdom,” they say.
Tumblr media
Practically speaking, hair oiling is believed to strengthen and condition the hair, promote growth and rebalance the scalp. According to Michelle Ranavat of South Asian-founded Ayurvedic beauty brand Ranavat, the treatment should be practiced before taking a shower or before bed at night to harness the restorative powers of the natural oils and give strands much-needed nourishment. In terms of technique, apply your chosen oil to parted, dry hair, massaging into the roots in a circular motion to create warmth for better absorption, circulation and relaxation. Whether you choose to leave the oil on for 10 minutes or overnight is up to you. But given it's not being used as a leave-in styling product, all hair types from fine to natural will welcome its moisture replenishing properties. Ranavat recommends her eponymous Mighty Majesty Fortifying Hair Serum, infused with amla extract and a high concentration of oleic acid, jasmine and sunflower oils. Likewise, alma, bhringraj and bhrami are hand-blended into a traditional base of sesame and coconut oils in Mauli Rituals Grow Strong Hair Oil. While Fable & Mane's cult-ish HoliRoots Oil is a prewash treatment laced with ashwagandha, an anti-inflammatory adaptogen renowned in India for thickening the hair, as well as circulation-boosting dashmool and castor oil. “The head is home to our nervous system,” says Mehta. “So scalp massage, using oils that contain adaptogens, is part of a daily routine to calm the nervous system and balance energy. The ritual also stretches the hair from the roots, stimulating them to produce thicker strands.” Clearly good karma for the scalp and the soul.

something really interesting is happening to the south asian diaspora rn i dont even have the right words to talk about this. but in the last five years theres this like......2nd gen industry popping up? like where i grew up had an extremely high population of south asian immigrants so i never wanted for choice when i bought indian goods anyway but now im seeing all these online brands. started by 2nd gen. that focus on a luxury shopping experience for desi clothes and jewelry and skincare and makeup and im not saying it's a bad thing (especially because im struggling to even express why i feel so strangely about it) but idk. i think i just wonder if we're gonna have to deal with classism part two between people who use the $100+ dollar ranavat hair oil and the people who use the amla oil u can buy at ur local south asian grocery for 6 bucks

Ranavat's Bond Complex Shampoo and Conditioner Made My Hair Shinier in 1 Use
During the wintertime, my scalp and hair can run on the drier end, and I tend to combat this by incorporating deeply hydrating products into my hair-care routine. My scalp gets itchier, and the ends of my hair feel fried, heightening unwanted concerns like frizziness and scalp irritation. I’m usually on the hunt for products that streamline my routine and elevate the look (and feel) of my hair…

My Skincare Routine 💞💅🏾
Tumblr media
My skin type is dry and my skin concern is rosacea
1. CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser:this is the only cleanser that doesn't make it feel like my face is squeaky clean and dry, it makes me feel hydrated
2. Heritage Store Rosewater & Glycerin Facial Spray: this gives an extra splash of hydration
3. I'm from Honey Mask: I only use this at PM 1 time a week, I use this one in particular because my face feels plumper after I wash it off and it smells really good
4. Ranavat Radiant Rani Brightening Saffron Serum: This is a holy grail for me, it has licorice root which relieves hyperpigmentation which I have a slight issue with as well as Saffron which is anti-inflammatory. It's pricey but worth it.
5. Paula's Choice Omega+ Complex Mositurizer: It's not too light or heavy for the day
6. La Roche Posay Ultra Fluis Invisible Finish (SPF 50+): I have this product because it is extremely light weight and does not leave white cast, it's incredible to use in the summer
7. Eminence Organics Wild Plum Eye Cream: This smells good and after using it for two weeks I noticed my dark circles starting to improve.

★ Salman Khan to play a Sikh cop in gangster drama!
February 21, 2020
Actor will play a Sikh policeman, with Aayush Sharma as a gangster, in a drama set in North India; film rolls in May, to wrap up by Sept. Salman Khan, who is all set to wrap up his Eid 2020 release, the Prabhudheva-directed Radhe has already given the go-ahead to his next. The yet-untitled film has him playing a cop and will be helmed by Abhiraj Minawala, who last directed Aayush Sharma’s debut film, LoveYatri, for Salman’s production house. Interestingly, Aayush is also a part of this action drama. He plays a North Indian gangster.
“Salman has played cops before, but what excited him about this one is that he’s a Sikh cop. He will be growing a beard for real and wears a turban. He will undergo multiple look tests next week with his team,” revealed a source close to the development.
In the past, the actor had made a brief appearance as a Sikh army officer in Samir Karnik’s 2008 directorial Heroes, wherein he was paired alongside Preity Zinta. “However, this time around, there won’t be an actress opposite Salman. His is an honest, upright, no-nonsense cop on a mission. However, the hunt is on for a leading lady for Aayush, a gangster on the run. He will sport a rugged look and will bulk up for the role since Salman and he have several confrontations,” informed the source. Abhiraj is currently finalising on the script with his writers while another team is working on the prep. The film goes on the floors by May. “Salman has allotted bulk dates for the shoot and he is looking at a year-end or early 2021 release. It will wrap up by September following which he moves on to Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali,” added the source. Salman has shot the action scenes of Radhe with a Korean stunt team and it is sleek and stylised. The stunts in Abhiraj’s next will be raw and real. The actor also has Kick 2 and Tiger 3, which will roll next year.
WHEN SALMAN PLAYED A COP PATTHAR KE PHOOL: After writing several cop characters for Amitabh Bachchan, Salim Khan decided to pen a cop-story for son, Salman. Who would’ve thought that a young chap, who made a successful debut as a police officer in 1991, would go on to become the ideal cop of Hindi cinema. AUZAAR: His second turn as a cop was in brother Sohail Khan’s directorial debut, Auzaar. Though the film didn’t meet expectations, his portrayal of inspector Suraj Prakash fetched him much love. GARV: This Puneet Issar directorial tried to position Salman as an angry young man taking a stand by working as a public servant. With this film, the actor rose in rank and portrayed the role of ACP Arjun Ranavat in the cop-action drama. WANTED: This one was a game-changer not just for Salman but also Bollywood, marking the return of action entertainers. His turn as undercover cop Radhe was enough to hit a sixer at the box-office. Remember, “Ek baar jo maine commitment kar di?” DABANGG: Dabangg brought cop films back in fashion and also gave birth to Chulbul Pandey, one of the most iconic characters in Bollywood. Taking a step back from idealistic cops, this one had some grey elements, helping it stand out from the rest. It was followed by a series of cop films from Bollywood. Link
