Waaaaaghhh!! I love the art where Sol has a bit of a rounded jaw! I think he looks so much more mischievous! Now he has an angular jaw, which I still like, but it makes him look grumpier! One of them is the tricky swindler while the other is the fearsome grumbler!

This is purely an aesthetic difference though. They’re both pretty grumpy

Ngl I usually reference Daisuke's illustrations for Sol's face more than his in-game model so I always forget that they totally changed his face shape in the 3D realm (Strive & Xrd in-game screenshots vs illustrations from Artworks GGX 2000-2007):

But his very, very, first—from 1995—3D model had a jaw shape closer to how Daisuke generally draws it, which is interesting. And a little funny (from Dengeki PlayStation vol.10, October '95):

I love how inconsistently Daisuke draws him in general though, genuinely. It's very "I'm the artist and this is what I feel like drawing today," which I respect and feel on a spiritual level haha

I'm almost done reading Punk Hazard, and i have some thoughts especially about sanji and the body switches between the characters and his reaction to that, (and then also some sanuso possibly sanusonami moments - because their dynamic in this arc was really interesting - their own respective goals, as well as a different duos), but i need to sort these thoughts into something more coherent first.

so before that, just this part i noticed - which was like, almost unneccessary from usopp's part, such a small moment, but strangely heartwarming and cute!

usopp: oh, sanji, you saved me? nami (who currently looks like sanji due to the body switcheroo thing): i'm nami! usopp: *disappointed sound* nami: why are you disappointed?!

(*shaking usopp by the shoulders*: what to you mean by that reaction?? why are you disappointed it wasn't actually sanji rescuing you? that you woke up in the snow and after the fight, seeing sanji but learning it was still nami in that body, and even if you like nami, you wanted sanji to rescue you??? explain yourself!)

Reading the description and seeing the possible options for elf MC, I feel like they could have gotten wilder with their elf designs. Instead of just her having four different shades of skin colour (which really seems like someone used an eyedropper from the same colour range sliding between hue values) and two "dark elves" alternatives, on top of how she only ever looks Westerner in all. Unless what they were going for was a non-customisable look for this book, it still is giving the impression of sliding back from the old days in the interactive fiction app landscape.
