If I may add onto the whole “post-skandia Will is triggered by the cold” headcanon— what if, despite being triggered by extreme cold, he weirdly craves it?

I can picture Will struggling with a warmweed craving. Every time the urge hits, he feels incredibly ashamed of himself. Ashamed that, while in Skandia, he chose self-destruction over the cold. Ashamed he wants it again.

This time, he chooses the cold. He just wants to prove to himself he can resist the craving. He wants to feel strong, like he’s made real progress in his recovery. And if it takes jumping into an icy lake to prove it, so be it.

Needless to say, this isn’t a very healthy way to go about it. It inevitably makes his craving stronger, and he gives in half the time. The other half, he’s so overwhelmed by the traumatic memories he can hardly function.

I just know Halt has some weird ass fear or phobia. I need him to have one. And I'm not talking about snakes or spiders or something pretty common like that, I'm talking about something weirdly specific that he doesn't know why but it just freaks him out and he hates that it scares him because it's just so fucking stupid

Since Crowley is a hotheaded little fella he probably started a few fights for absolutely idiotic reasons.

What if he did so in the middle of castle Araluen and Duncan needed to step in before anyone got hurt.

Or even better, Halt walks in and just has to spend 3 hours trying to get Crowley to realise it's not worth the effort to fight over if goddamn ant should be removed or killed.

Lonely ranger this, orphan ranger that. What about rangers with kids? Give me a ranger dad™ showing up at the gathering with two little kids and "sorry, guys, my wife really needs a break" and everyone is so delighted because "look at those cuties, you need to bring them next year". What about two best friends assigned to neighbouring fiefs? Really, they work more in tandem than alone - "You want to talk to the ranger of this fief? Sorry sir, which one do you mean, the short one or the shorter one?" Give me the biggest extrovert who hates being alone in his cabin, so he does all of his paperwork alongside scribes at the castle, and thanks to that, is literally the only one who is up-to-date with his paperwork - "What's your secret with the paperwork?" "You need to find someone to suffer with you." Give me a ranger with a partner and kids and apprentice, and a cabin by the woods that is never empty.

Ranger's Apprentice is truly an fascinating book series, because it starts as the normal kid's book, where in book one our young underdog protagonist discovers he's good at something and goes on a big adventure that is in the periphery of a larger plot, then in book two he goes on another, slighty bigger adventure that takes him to the larger plot, but then it takes a sharp turn and book three is just, our main young protagonist gets kidnapped and enslaved and develops a drug addiction to cope with the harsh conditions... and people just let him publish that! Wild, 11/10 would recommend.
