sadia was a naturally inquisitive person. they wanted to know the answer to everything, the logical reason behind the misunderstood. plainly, she didn’t believe in ghosts, so when the opportunity to explore an old, crumbling hospital in the middle of the woods that was rumored to be haunted sprang up, sadia jumped at the chance. she had wanted to know the truth, what was really going on that made people think the abandoned building was haunted. sadia wasn’t there to prove the existence of ghosts, they were there to prove the opposite. she wanted to prove there wasn’t anything supernatural about the place, but she wasn’t stupid. she brought along a friend, just in case things went bad—from another human, an alive one, of course. having explored other abandoned buildings before, sadia came prepared with a gasmask and protective clothing, two flashlights, plenty of water. taking a break after searching the lobby and an office, sadia slipped the mask off of her face and rested it on her forehead, then taking a sip from her water bottle. suddenly something on the wall caught her eye. stepping up to it, she realized it was some sort of... symbol, painted on in what she thought was black ink. turning to rae, she pointed at the marking. “hey, come look at this!”
