for posterity's sake before i pass out for another hour, i just need to document that after maybe 4 hours max of rest a night for the past week, in the middle of the night i took a work phonecall in my sleep and woke up ten minutes into a conversation with someone famous on the east coast, and freaked out and hung up when they got semi-inflammatory and their assistant took over, and within 5 minutes of that @rcmclachlan messaged me, and i called her in a kind of panic that was kind of like being on shrooms in college and having a sober friend document that something entirely unrelated to the trip but still deeply fucked up happened to you and was real.

the scene where anna admits to lane that she almost inadvertently killed a classmate with parasites was so weird and unnecessary.

her staying with donovan was understandable given the things we know about her (low self-esteem, feeling like a burden, etc), so i really don't understand why that scene was written?

if it was to emphasize how invested anna is in her research... why??? we have enough evidence of that, like her literally injecting herself with abomination blood and venturing into the collapsed adam base tunnels despite donovan banning access to them.

it feels like aleksandra has absolutely no confidence in writing anna and no confidence that she'll keep the audience's attention so she keeps throwing in weird and unnecessary shit in an attempt to make her more 'compelling'

i will always defend anna with my life but wow the writing has just been getting worse and worse

anyway as much as im celebrating on this slot bc anna has actually thought about her obvious attachment to lane + getting afraid of losing her and has accepted it, this is still evil lane doing it on purpose while wanting to have her anyway so its kinda toxic (even if id still take the toxic) but it still doesn’t make it better

and im still upset at how compassion+voice of god romance route was handled /: it was painful.. i dont even know where to start. like i really do get the direction BUT since that confrontation finally happened it would REQUIRE their relationship to have more interactions to be able for them to explore, startover and develop from it, i said it before and ive said it again—but i doubt the writer has the energy for it since she avoids writing female romance interactions.

and the season is ending. the season is ending. idk anymore i may just be giving up on the book but idk

It's honestly so weird how some people are reacting to the delay, especially on Reddit. Yeah, I get it. It's frustrating when you're hyped for something and then it gets pushed back. But acting like the devs are doing this just to mess with us and saying they "never do anything right" is ridiculous. This delay wasn't on purpose; it seems like a last-minute issue, which probably means they're scrambling on their end, too.

I think people forget that game development can be very complex, and unexpected problems can pop up even in the final stages. I don't think you'd like that they push out a buggy, half-broken update just to meet a deadline? Because if that happened, you'd still be here complaining.

Delays suck, but at the end of the day, they usually mean the devs are trying to give us a better experience. A little patience never harms anyone.

I saw the Voice of God screenshots for that scene where Lane was mad at Kira, and it made me realize that one of the reasons HSR is such an amazing book is because both routes enhance Lane's already compelling character. The Whisper of the Devil path appears to focus more on her rage and stoic nature, which makes sense due to the literal inciting incident of the book. But on the Voice of God route? She doesn't want to hurt anyone. Poor Lane just wants to feel human again. She wants to know what it's like to feel loved unconditionally.

I can picture Cain presenting the glass jar with macabre yet heartfelt sincerity, his gaze fixed on Lane, watching her reaction with a mixture of dark amusement and genuine affection. The red roses, thorns intact, symbolize love and pain intertwined—just like their relationship. And, of course, the box of expensive chocolates adds a touch of tradition, perhaps his way of saying, 'See? I can do normal romance too.'
