excavation of habit
hello! i honestly didn't think i still had it in me to thirst-write a fic, but on friday i watched the only 3 aired episodes of To Be He//ro X and had to whump the main character immediately 🫡
if you haven't watched the show yet, i highly recommend it! with that said, this fic can be read w/o any context if you do not mind ep1/ep2 spoilers.
(3.5k words, ft. a secret identity, a cold, a popularity-driven hero society, and a two-way character study)
—
It’s only a sore throat, at first. Barely registers, between the carefully choreographed morning appearances Miss J shepherds him through.
Something Lin Ling is learning is that she always has something new ready for him. We live in a digital age, she said to him the other day. There is no such thing as privacy. If you want to stay relevant, you need to make yourself seen. He had been puzzled about that, at first. He’d asked her: “Haven’t I already been to enough interviews this week?”
“I’m not talking about interviews,” Miss J had said, and then refused to elaborate.
That’s another thing Lin Ling is learning about her. Despite her curt attitude, she is only non-communicative when she thinks an answer is self-evident. He found out what she meant soon enough. People’s trust, as it turns out, relies just as heavily on Nice’s actions out in the open. He can nail every interview and every game show and every celebrity appearance, and it won’t be enough. This is part of staying relevant, too—that he masquerades himself as just an ordinary citizen from time to time, that he shows himself to be remarkable even in ordinary circumstances.
Last week, he waited in line at a coffee shop downtown for thirty minutes, even though Treeman has more than enough money and resources to get an assistant to get coffee on his behalf, just so he could—with Nice’s strength and superhuman reflexes—1) rescue a cup of scalding hot coffee from being nearly-dropped onto someone’s open laptop, and 2) offer to help the workers haul in a heavy shipment of new machinery.
Compared to normal hero work, these sorts of appearances aren’t really that hard. There was even minor press coverage of it—some girl caught it all on video and posted it to Weibo—and everyone in the coffee shop left charmed.
Well done, Miss J had said, clapping him on the back. The people need to know what Nice is like on a day-to-day basis, you see? If you wait in line for coffee like everyone else, it makes you just that much more relatable. And that had been that.
It does not occur to Lin Ling to ask the question until lunch time, when he swallows again and feels it again: that flash of pain. He reaches for the energy drink on the table—Double VVoltcharge, a brand Nice has recently been sponsored by, which they have excess stock of lying around—and finds that his throat is still hurting when he gulps it down.
“Miss J,” he says, setting the bottle back on the desk, in the exact corner he got it from. Makes sure his tone comes out sufficiently unassuming. “What was Nice like when he was sick?”
She regards him, scrutinizing. “Why are you asking?”
It’s a trap. She’s trying to gauge if anything is off, so he pretends not to notice. “Oh, you know, just—all this conversation about what he’s like as a normal person, like, what his coffee order is and everything, and I was like, huh, it’s strange that Nice drinks coffee. Like, since he’s so perfect and everything, I wouldn’t have been that surprised if I found out he never got tired.”
“Everyone gets tired,” Miss J says, rolling her eyes. “Even heroes.”
“Yeah, I guess so, or maybe he just liked the taste?” Lin-Ling-as-Nice shrugs. “Just wondering if he ever got sick, too, or if the public’s trust in him willed that away.”
“Of course he got sick,” Miss J says. “He’s not some kind of robot.”
“So what was he like? If I’m supposed to be him, shouldn’t I know these kinds of things?”
“Hmm.” Miss J seems to consider this for a moment, worrying at her lower lip. Lin Ling wonders if he’s happened upon a touchy subject.
He’s about to provide more justification—shouldn’t she be happy that he’s taking interest in Nice’s habits?—when she responds.
“...Excessively polite,” she says. “You know, always wearing a mask, coughing into his elbow, apologizing about it, that kind of thing. Sometimes he would even wear gloves or bring disinfectant spray around with him, if he really had to be somewhere. Though mostly he would stay in.”
“Ah,” Lin Ling says. “Okay. I guessed as much.” That doesn’t sound too difficult to emulate, on the off-chance that he is getting sick. The disinfectant makes sense, considering Nice’s borderline-obsession with neatness and cleanliness—the same tendencies Lin Ling feels as a static buzz at the edge of his consciousness more often than not, these days, whenever there’s clutter on the table or a cup is in the wrong place.
“You aren’t asking for any particular reason, are you?” Miss J says.
“Of course not!” Lin Ling says. “Just making conversation, is all.” He downs the rest of the energy drink, makes sure he doesn’t let the wince show on his face as it goes down.
—
The sore throat doesn’t get any better.
If anything, it gets worse. By the time dinner rolls around, Lin Ling finds that his nose is running, too, and even though he’s cleared his throat about a hundred times, it’s starting to take on a slight rasp. It’s strange and disconcerting to hear Nice’s smooth, low baritone marred by anything at all.
At the very least, he has confirmation now that Nice did get sick, even as a hero. The fact that Lin Ling is coming down with something now is not going to be the thing that exposes him as a fraud. That alone is a small comfort.
But the comfort ends there. Despite Miss J’s earlier descriptions, Lin Ling has no idea what kind of person Nice was when he was sick, aside from the usual obsession with cleanliness, and he has no idea how much the public knows about it either.
He isn’t sure how he’s going to break the news to Miss J. He’s never been—well, blatantly unfit for work before, ever since he took up Nice’s identity. Up until now, he’d like to think he’s been pretty good at taking up whatever she’s thrown at him. He still isn’t quite sure what her response to this might be.
There was one time, a couple years back in December, when he’d come down with something when he was still working the advertising job. The heat had gone out in his apartment, and he had picked up this bug he couldn’t quite shake, had just about lost his voice with all the coughing. He’d finally worked up the courage to ask, meekly, for time off work.
His old boss had said, Do you think that just because you’re sick, Nice doesn’t need any more advertisements? And then, The proposal for next weeks’ advert needs to be emailed to me by 7am tomorrow morning. If it’s even a minute late, consider yourself fired.
In the end, Lin Ling—well, Lin Ling had apologized, put his head down, and gotten back to work. The week passed, and the week after that. That was just the life he led, then.
Things are different, now that he’s Nice. Now that he’s someone the public cares about, someone the public might miss. Nice’s public persona is damn near spotless, which makes sense at the surface, seeing how Miss J keeps virtually everything about Nice’s life squared away under lock and key. She probably has a collection of all of Nice’s favorite things, listed alphabetically, for God’s sake; she probably picks out his damn cologne for him based on market trends. But Lin Ling knows, deep down, that part of it has nothing to do with Miss J at all.
Part of it is this: Nice was Nice before he was a hero, too. Before he earned the trust of the people, before he was taken under Treeman’s wing, he was probably good at all of this: at appearing effortlessly charming and likable, which are things that Lin Ling has never been in his entire life. These days, he thinks he’s just one misstep away from having the entire foundation to his fake identity crumble under his feet.
“Not to your liking?” one of the agents says, casting a pointed glance towards the braised pork and steamed eggplant in front of him. Like all of the other agents, he’s dressed in all black and wearing sunglasses.
“Ah… sorry,” Lin Ling says, tightening his grip around his chopsticks. “I was just lost in thought. It’s delicious.”
The agent nods, gruffly but not unkindly. “Then eat up.”
This, too, is foreign—having the agency be responsible for all of his meals, or even beyond that, having someone who cares whether something is to his taste. Lin Ling isn’t sure if it’s something he’ll ever get used to. He doesn’t have much of an appetite, but he makes himself eat, nonetheless.
The steam makes something shift in his sinuses, prickling, like the static edge of noise on the radio. He sniffles, leans forward to take a bite. Then the static edge sharpens into something he can no longer ignore.
“hh-hEh—!”
Remembering suddenly Miss j’s description of Nice, he ducks into an elbow. “—’IKkTSH’iIEw!—iihhh!”
The sneeze, when it finally comes, is surprisingly vocal. It’s the kind of sneeze you can hear the ending in, all high-pitched at the end, and it scrapes at his throat in a way that makes him want to cough afterwards. It sounds… well, markedly different from how Lin Ling is used to sounding when he sneezes. Then again, his voice has sounded different—less like his, and more like Nice’s, low and honeyed—ever since he made his first public appearance under the new identity. If he thinks about it, it isn’t all that strange that his sneeze sounds different, too.
He looks up, a little anxiously, to see if anyone’s noticed. Thankfully, the agent who stopped by earlier is on the other side of the room now, and none of them have so much as looked up at him.
He resumes eating. The rice is steaming hot, and he’s been cold all day, though he’s only known the agency to set the thermostat at reasonable temperatures. He wonders distantly if Nice was ever susceptible to the cold.
Aside from Miss J, there’s only one person who might know.
—
Lin Ling texts Xiao Yueqing after dinner, from the privacy of his room on the tenth floor. After the incident at the wedding, he’d resigned himself to never speaking to Xiao Yueqing again—he didn’t know where she was anymore, and she’d changed her number—Miss J was very clear about not leaving behind any digital evidence. There was no reason for him to contact him again.
But it turns out that she had Nice’s phone number memorized. She texted him from a new number a week later, with a photograph of a tropical white sand beach, the line of water blue and sparkling from a distance, and followed it up a cheery: weather’s rly nice here ✌️u should come visit sometime, when you’re not so busy :p
He knew it was her immediately. The relief he’d felt, receiving that text, was nearly crushing.
They’ve been talking on-and-off ever since: Xiao Yueqing sending him pictures she’s snapped of the different cities she’s been to, accompanied by offhanded comments on what she’s seen, what she’s found surprising, and what she’d like to see; Lin Ling texting her whenever anything particularly amusing happens on the job.
Now, he sends off the text with no small amount of self-consciousness.
LL: Quick question, if you aren’t busy
These days, he never quite knows which country she’s in, so he doesn’t know what time it is for her, though she’s usually pretty good at responding if she’s awake and if he’s asked her a question. This time, Xiao Yueqing responds almost immediately.
MOON 🌺: ?
Lin Ling pulls the tissue box a little closer to him and extricates one carefully—he’d nabbed one from the agency storage room right before Miss J had driven him back to the Hero Tower. That is proving to be a wise decision now, considering that he’s gone through nearly a quarter of the box already.
LL: What was Nice like when he was sick?
MOON 🌺: wdym?
LL: Like
LL: When he had a cold? assuming he did at least once when you were living together
LL: Idk did he act any differently or
MOON 🌺: ohh
MOON 🌺: haha. yea i think he did get sick a couple times
A beat. Xiao Yueqing’s typing indicator vanishes on the screen—probably she’s been pulled away to talk to someone in real life. Then, after a moment, it pops up again.
MOON 🌺: he was toooootally
Lin Ling waits with bated breath.
MOON 🌺: insufferable :/
He very nearly falls out of his chair.
Nice, insufferable? The very Nice who Miss J described as excessively polite, the very Nice who couldn’t seem to make anyone hate him, even if he tried? That Nice? Insufferable?
LL: Come again???
LL: You’re going to have to elaborate, I’m not following
MOON 🌺: well u alrdy know nice was like a bit of a neat freak
MOON 🌺: when he got sick it was like cranked up to 200%. he was soo fussy abt everything
MOON 🌺: brought him tea once out of pity and he nearly bit my head off bc i made the water 15 degrees too hot for the type of tea or smth??? like there’s no way u can even taste the difference when ur congested???
LL: Oh
Lin Ling doesn’t quite know what to make of this information. He’d never thought that Nice might be anything other than pleasant, especially to Xiao Yueqing. Even learning that his entire relationship with her had been scripted hadn’t changed that.
LL: Maybe it was too bitter for him?
MOON 🌺: extremely rude
MOON 🌺: dont start taking his side now
LL: Sorry, sorry, it was nice of you to make him tea
MOON 🌺: ur on thin ice 🫵
LL: I’m sure it was delicious
LL: Please go on
MOON 🌺: this other time i caught him rearranging all the medicine in the agency cabinet
MOON 🌺: like some crazy organization system based on strength and symptoms targeted and duration and wtvr
MOON 🌺: he was at it for like an hour. and when i asked him why he was there it turned out he was looking for
MOON 🌺: cough syrup and he just got distracted. but he got annoyed at me and insisted they had to be sorted for some reason and so i left him alone
LL: That’s heroic
LL:Do you think he was delirious?
MOON 🌺: honestly that would be giving him too much credit
MOON 🌺: hey
MOON 🌺: why r u asking abt this anyways =.=;;
He freezes. He isn’t quite sure how to justify himself, other than the fact that it’s natural that he’s curious about the very person he’s supposed to be replacing. But she’s right—usually, he would go to Miss J with questions like this. Not Xiao Yueqing, who he’s learning seems to be happiest when she’s avoiding thinking about the old Nice altogether.
LL: No particular reason
MOON 🌺: hmmm~
MOON 🌺: you just happened to be curious abt nice for no particular reason?
LL: He seemed so put together all the time
LL: I just wondered
LL: Wasn’t sure if he could even get sick in the first place
For a long moment, she doesn’t respond again. He lets himself think that maybe she’s gone for real, now, offline to haggle with some vendor or book some kind of ticket, or maybe she’s found someone to have lunch-or-dinner-or-whatever-meal-lines-up-with-her-timezone with. His head feels heavy. He’s more tired than he usually is at this time of night. Maybe he should call it a night early.
Then his phone vibrates in his hands. Onscreen, in bright white characters: INCOMING CALL.
He scrambles to pick up the call, nearly drops his phone in the process.
“You are not a very good liar,” is the first thing Xiao Yueqing says.
It’s his first time hearing her voice in weeks. It sounds a little tinny through the speakers, the higher frequencies a little harsher than the crystal-clear recording quality he’s used to from her advertising livestreams. He holds onto it like it’s a lifeline.
“Sorry?”
“I said what I said. Are you going to tell me how long you’ve been sick?”
For a second, Lin Ling feels a flash of anxiousness in his chest—could she tell, just from that one word of his? Did she know, even before he picked up this call? “...I don’t recall ever saying that I was.”
“Uh huh. So you’re just studying what Nice was like when he was sick for fun,” Xiao Yueqing says. “Just as a trivia question, nothing more.”
Lin Ling bristles. “I’m supposed to be him,” he says. Winces when he can hear the congestion in his—Nice’s—voice. “Learning about him is part of the job.”
“Yeah, so that’s why you texted me to ask about it. That’s the only reason.”
“I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t— s-seriously missing the mark…” Lin Ling really doesn’t want to be interrupted. His nose has other plans. This time, the action of turning to shield the sneeze with his elbow comes reflexively, even though there’s no one else here. “hH… Hhii-HH-GZSCHh-Hiiew! -hhIh… Snf-! IIh—!!!’KKTSHh-EwW!—-iiih…”
His face feels like it’s aflame. The phone speaker is right there, he berates himself. He really should have moved it away, who knows how loud those were on her end, who knows how close she was holding her phone to her ear, who knows what she might be thinking now—
“Bless you!” Xiao Yueqing says breezily, sounding utterly unfazed. Her voice has taken on a different turn, now—something closer to concern. “Man, you sound pretty rough. How are you holding up?”
“I’m not—” Lin Ling starts, and then breaks off into an undignified cough. “It’s just—”
His voice cracks on the syllable. As if there could be anything more embarrassing.
“You can say, you know,” Xiao Yueqing says, a little softer now. “However you’re feeling, you can say. It’s like I said. I’ve seen Nice sick a handful of times already. It’s not anything new to me.”
Lin Ling considers this for a long moment.
“...In that case,” he says, with another sniffle. “I’m–I’m probably getting a cold. I didn’t mean to bother you at—ahh, I don’t know what time it is there. I don’t even feel that siIIhh… iIhh’ii’DSHhH-EEew!—hh… snf… hhEh…!”
“Bless you again! Times two?”
“—-G’KTTSSHh—IiEEw! ugh… thanks.” He takes a tissue out from the tissue box, folds it in half, buries his face into it. “Im sorry I’ve been doing that so much. It’s probably right next to your ear.”
“You sneeze differently from him,” Xiao Yueqing says, with a breathless little laugh that makes something tighten in Lin Ling’s chest. He can’t help but feel like he’s making a fool out of himself in front of his longtime—well, crush is probably the right word for it, just going off of definitions, but it seems laughably inadequate in the face of everything.
“Oh,” Lin Ling says, rubbing a hand over his eyes. “I can fix that. How did he sneeze?”
“Don’t fix it,” Xiao Yueqing says, sounding gleeful. “I think it sounds cute.”
He definitely heard her wrong there. “Cute?”
“The more ways in which you differ from Nice, the better.”
He shakes his head, despairing. “I can’t accept that. If I happen to sneeze in public—”
“No one will notice any difference,” she says. “It’s just a sneeze. You’re so concerned about acting in character, but have you stopped at all to think about how you’re feeling? Like even once? Did your own health ever once factor into your concerns?”
The defensiveness he feels—the defensiveness he’s felt, this entire conversation—gives way for something else, something like resignation.
“...I don’t know why it would,” Lin Ling says, honestly. It’s more than he means to admit.
Xiao Yueqing makes a noise that’s somewhere between exasperation and understanding. There’s another moment of silence. Lin Ling wonders how it’s possible to feel so strangely exposed over a phone call, even though she can’t see him, even though this is their first time talking in weeks.
“I called to tell you there’s this herbal tea in the kitchen of your flat, in the third drawer from the right side,” she says. “It’ll work wonders on your throat, if it’s hurting. You’re still early into this cold, so it probably is, right?” Lin Ling doesn’t have the time to process how she knows this. “Oh, and there are extra blankets in the storage closet, to the opposite side of the elevators. Three, I think, but the yellow one with white stripes is the warmest. Text me if you can’t find them.”
He blinks, a little overwhelmed. “How do you know all this?”
“I did live there for years, whether I liked it or not. Oh, and Lin Ling?”
“Yes?”
“Take care,” Xiao Yueqing says, sounding sincere. The call goes dead.
Lin Ling sits there for awhile, his phone dark in his hands, contemplating the feeling in his chest, the strange weight to it.
Then he gets up to head to the kitchen in search of tea.

White lace
From older bf! Matt x sweetheart! Reader au
Contains/warnings: pantie stealing, innocent reader, masturbation, mention of virginity loss

After two months of dating, the most intimate thing you and Matt had had done was making out. He respected your boundaries completely, knowing you weren’t ready for anything more, and he was okay with waiting especially since he knew you were a virgin. But sometimes, he couldn’t help but let his eyes linger on you, on the way your clothes hugged your body or the softness in how you carried yourself.
Matt was at your house, waiting in your room while you grabbed something from the kitchen. As he glanced around, his eyes landed on your dresser, one drawer slightly ajar. His breath caught when he noticed a hint of white lace peeking out.
He hesitated, glancing toward the door to make sure you weren’t coming back yet. Curiosity and something deeper got the better of him. Slowly, he reached over and tugged the drawer open just enough to see them.
His heart raced as he picked up the delicate fabric, his fingers brushing over the lace. He knew he shouldn’t, but he couldn’t resist. Folding them carefully, he slipped them into his pocket just before you walked back in, completely unaware of what he’d just done.
Later when Matt was home…
Sitting on his bed, Matt carefully removes the lace underwear from his pocket, holding them up to the light. He runs his thumb over the delicate fabric, his mind wandering to the thought of you wearing them. He can't help but imagine how they would look on you, how soft they would feel against your skin. Matt's imagination runs wild as he pictures you in the matching bra. The way the lace would hug your curves, the way the white fabric would contrast against your skin. He can almost see the gentle swell of your breasts, the way the straps would sit on your shoulders.
Without even realizing it, Matt's body is reacting to the mental image. The bulge in his pants grows more prominent as he continues to think about you in the delicate lingerie. He bites his lip, trying to reign in his thoughts and desires, but it's no use.
He lies back on his bed, the underwear still clutched in his hand. His free hand slowly moves to the bulge in his pants, giving it a gentle squeeze through the fabric. He knows he shouldn't be thinking of you like this, but he can't help it.
"Fuck..." he breathes out quietly, pushing his pants down slightly to free himself. His hand wraps around his hard length, stroking gently as he continues to picture you, the way you'd look, how sweet and innocent yet incredibly sensual…
His hand moves faster, his breath coming in short gasps as he imagines slipping those lace panties aside and pushing his way into your untouched, virgin warmth. He can almost feel your tightness wrapped around him, your innocence is something he can't resist. "Shit, shit, shit..."
A moan escapes him as he continues to stroke himself faster. The image of you in those lacy garments, the way you might blush so prettily at his every touch. His hips lift slightly off the bed, imagining he's burying himself deeper inside you. "God, sweetheart..."
The thoughts become overwhelming, and Matt's pace quickens, his breaths turning to panting. He's imagining how you'd taste, all sweet and innocent, and how shy and flustered you'd be as he explores every inch of you. He can almost hear your soft whispers, your delicate sighs...
Matt's body tenses as his climax approaches. He imagines burying his face between your thighs, tasting your sweetness as you melt beneath his touch. "Fuck, yes..."
A low, guttural groan rumbles in his chest as he pictures you squirming beneath him, your face contorted in pleasure and surprise as you reach your first orgasm. The way your body would arch, your mouth parting in a silent cry.
With a muffled groan, Matt finds his release, his hot seed spilling into the lace panties he's been fantasizing about you wearing. He collapses back on the bed, panting and clinging to the delicate fabric.
As he catches his breath, Matt looks down at the soiled panties, a soft smile on his face. He knows he should be ashamed, fantasizing about you like this, but he can't help it.

Gepard, Sampo, Ratio, Aventurine and Boothill react that reader has turned into a child by someone or something
From Giant to Child, You Are Still You

Gepard stood frozen, his eyes wide with shock as he took in the sight before him. You—his steadfast companion—had somehow been transformed into a small child. Clutching a plush toy you seemed to have conjured out of nowhere, you looked up at him with wide, innocent eyes, your tiny hand reaching out for his.
“What happened to you?” he murmured, crouching down to your level. He couldn’t hide the worry etched into his features. He was a soldier, trained to face terrifying monsters, but this? This was entirely out of his depth.
You tilted your head, giving him a toothy grin. “Gepard, you look funny! Your armor is so shiny!”
He couldn't help but chuckle despite the situation. “Well, at least your spirit hasn’t changed.” He reached out, gently patting your head, careful not to startle you. His mind raced, trying to think of a way to reverse this transformation. Until then, he swore to himself he’d protect you even more fiercely than before.
For now, though, he’d carry you on his shoulder and let you tug at his hair, your laughter bringing a rare lightness to his heart.

“Well, well, well, what do we have here?” Sampo’s teasing voice broke through the silence as he crouched down to inspect the tiny version of you tugging at his coat. “My favorite customer has shrunk! How did this happen? Was it some experiment gone wrong, or did you just decide being an adult wasn’t worth the hassle?”
You pouted, crossing your arms. “It wasn’t my fault! Someone did this to me!”
Sampo smirked, ruffling your hair in an almost brotherly way. “Relax, kiddo, I’ll get you back to normal…eventually. But in the meantime, imagine the opportunities! You’re smaller, sneakier—this could work in my favor.”
You glared up at him, your tiny stature doing little to make it intimidating. “Sampo, this isn’t funny!”
“Aw, c’mon, it’s a little funny,” he chuckled, scooping you up into his arms. “Don’t worry, I’ll keep you safe. Besides, you’re too adorable for anyone to resist now.” He winked.
Despite his lighthearted tone, Sampo kept a close watch on you. As much as he liked to joke, the thought of you being in danger in this vulnerable state didn’t sit right with him. Whoever caused this had better be ready for a reckoning—Sampo Koski style.

Ratio stared down at you, his arms crossed and an unimpressed look on his face. “This has to be some kind of joke,” he muttered, pinching the bridge of his nose. “How, exactly, did you manage to turn into a child? Was it a poorly thought-out experiment? Some unstable phenomenon?”
You blinked up at him, hugging his leg for comfort. “I didn’t mean to! Fix it, Ratio!”
He sighed, kneeling to your level. “This complicates things. I can’t have you running around in this state. You’ll break something—or worse, touch my research.” His sharp tone made you shrink back, but his expression softened when he saw the tears welling in your eyes.
“Don’t cry,” he said quickly, awkwardly patting your head. “I’ll figure it out.” He picked you up, carefully cradling you as if you were made of glass.
While he worked to reverse the transformation, Ratio found himself unexpectedly entertained by your childlike curiosity. You tugged at the straps of his vest, asking endless questions about the glowing gadgets in his lab. To his surprise, he found himself answering, even if the explanations went over your head.
For all his protests, Ratio’s protective nature shone through. He kept you close, determined to return you to normal—but not without muttering under his breath about the trials of babysitting.

The opulent suite was alive with the faint hum of energy panels and the clinking of Aventurine’s rings as he flipped a coin lazily between his fingers. Seated at a velvet chaise, he seemed the epitome of nonchalance, but his sharp eyes flicked over the room with calculated precision. He never truly relaxed.
Until you came bursting in—or rather, toddled in.
The sound of small feet padding across the marbled floor drew his attention, and the coin stopped mid-air as he caught it deftly. His smirk faltered.
"Well, well," he said, sliding off the chaise and crouching to your level. His voice was syrupy, teasing, but there was a hint of genuine confusion behind it. "What do we have here? Did you get lost on your way to daycare, darling?"
You tilted your head up at him, your now tiny face scrunched in distress. "A-Aventurine, it’s me!"
His smile froze. For a moment, his flamboyant mask cracked, and genuine alarm flickered across his features. Then, in true Aventurine fashion, he burst out laughing, though it was an uneasy sound.
"Oh, you must be joking!" he exclaimed, standing abruptly and running a hand through his hair. "No, wait—this isn’t a joke, is it?" His eyes locked onto yours, scanning for some sign of trickery.
"I don’t know what happened!" you wailed, tugging at his pant leg. "One minute I was normal, and now I’m—this!"
Aventurine crouched again, resting his elbows on his knees and rubbing his chin. "Fascinating. You’re—what? Cursed? Experimented on? Fell into some eldritch goo, perhaps?" His words were light, but his tone betrayed his rising concern.
"I don’t know!" you replied, stomping your tiny foot.
"Alright, alright," he said, raising his hands in mock surrender. "No need to throw a tantrum. We’ll figure this out. But first—" He scooped you up with surprising ease, spinning you around as if assessing a new casino trinket. "Look at you! You’re adorable! Almost makes me wish I could shrink down and start over myself."
You scowled, your childlike pout only adding to the adorableness. "Aventurine!"
He sighed dramatically, setting you down on the chaise. "Fine, fine. I’ll help you fix this. But you owe me big time, darling. Babysitting isn’t in my job description."
Despite his usual carefree attitude, Aventurine’s actions were swift and decisive as he began making calls and weaving his web of connections to find out what—or who—had caused this. Every so often, he glanced your way, a faint smile playing at his lips.
"Guess it’s my turn to be the responsible adult..." he muttered under his breath.

The sound of spurs clinking against the metallic floor echoed through the dimly lit saloon-like cantina. Boothill leaned against the bar, his hat tilted low over his white hair, a toothy grin flashing as he polished one of his pistols.
Then the sound of soft, uneven footsteps reached his ears. They were far too light to belong to one of the Galaxy Rangers or any of the usual drunks who frequented the place. He straightened, his eyes narrowing with suspicion.
When you stumbled into view—half your usual size, your tiny hands gripping the edge of a table for balance—Boothill froze.
“...Sugar?” His voice was rough, skeptical. He crouched slightly, his red scarf brushing the floor. “The fudge happened to you?”
“It’s me!” you squeaked, tears welling up in your now much smaller eyes.
Boothill blinked. “No kiddin’.” He stood straight, one hand on his hip, the other scratching the back of his head. “Well, ain’t this somethin’. You look like a calf that wandered outta the pen.”
You glared at him, though the effect was more precious than intimidating. “Boothill, stop joking! This is serious!”
He let out a low whistle, crouching again so you could see his shark-like grin. “Alright, alright, don’t blow a gasket. Just...how’d this happen? Someone shrink ray ya? Drink somethin’ funky?”
“I don’t know!” you whined, stamping your little foot. “One minute I was fine, and the next—poof!”
Boothill’s grin faded, replaced by a contemplative look as he reached out, ruffling your hair gently with his mechanical fingers. “Alright, darlin’. Don’t you worry none. We’ll get ya fixed up.” He stood, drawing one of his pistols with a dramatic flourish. “But first, let’s figure out who’s behind this. You reckon it’s the IPC? Wouldn’t put it past those varmints to mess with folks like this.”
You shook your head, sniffling. “I don’t know…”
Boothill sighed, holstering his gun before scooping you up in one arm. “Guess you’ll just hafta stick with ol’ Boothill for a bit. Hope you ain’t too squirmy, kiddo.”
Despite his gruff demeanor, Boothill’s protective side shone through as he carried you out of the cantina, his eyes scanning the horizon for any sign of danger. “Don’t fret,” he said, his tone surprisingly gentle. “Ain’t nothin’ out there that can outdraw me. We’ll get ya back to normal in no time.”
You buried your face in his scarf, finding comfort in its warmth. Boothill’s grin returned, this time softer, as he adjusted his hat.
“Reckon you’re lucky to have me, huh?” he teased, spurs clinking as he strode confidently into the unknown.

What Do You Think About The Farmer? (Stardew Valley) (6/6)
Ship: Haley x Female Farmer
Also on: AO3 (https://archiveofourown.org/works/63275293/chapters/162084325)
[Chapter 6: Now what?]
What now?
Haley sat on the edge of her bed, paralyzed in thought for what felt like an eternity. Her mind was swirled with uncertainty once again, but this time, for another matter.
I've been such a jerk to her for years. How am I supposed to tell her I'm in love with her? She must resent me at least a little… right? And what if I do confess? Would we actually start dating? What would that even mean? I don't know the first thing about tending a farm. I don’t even know what to do in a relationship! I’ve watched tons of romance movies, but somehow, I have no clue what I’d be like with her.
I was wrong about what I thought I wanted. Wrong about everything!
I had spent so much time believing I’d never belong in Pelican Town, that there was no one here who’d ever truly get me. But then this weird, persistent, ridiculous farmer kept showing up, kept proving me wrong.
And suddenly, I wasn’t so sure anymore. Maybe love didn’t have to look like a perfect magazine cover. Maybe it could look like a messy-haired farmer, waiting outside my house with a daffodil and an awkward smile.
That wouldn’t be so bad
Yoba… What am I gonna do?
If only I had a sign.
She wobbles towards her door, stumbling over her desk in the process. Her hand accidentally knocks over the pile of polaroid images she had finished developing. One of the images slid away further from the rest.
Haley kneeled down, picking them up one by one. Then her eyes landed on an image of the farmer—standing in the middle of a vibrant spring garden, surrounded by flowers she had grown herself. Her face was smeared with dirt and sweat, but she was smiling so brightly. Outshining her own garden.
The image made Haley's fingers tingle, her chest tighten, and—despite everything—a smile creep onto her face.
She suddenly had an idea.
The golden hues of sunset bathed Pelican Town as Haley stepped out of Pierre’s shop, absentmindedly adjusting the bouquet in her hands. She had spent way too long picking it out, debating whether this was ridiculous, whether she was really going to go through with this.
But the moment she stepped outside, she nearly collided with someone.
A sudden shuffle, a near stumble—and then she froze. Because standing right in front of her, holding a put-together sunflower bouquet in hand, was the farmer.
Haley’s heart stopped. Her eyes darted between the flowers in her own hands and the ones in theirs.
The realization hit her like a bolt of lightning.
"...Wait," She said slowly. The farmer blinked at her. Then, hesitantly, they lifted their bouquet just slightly. "...Uh."
The farmer let out a nervous laugh, rubbing the back of their neck. "I… yeah. I was actually looking for you." Her grip on her sunflower bouquet tightened.
"You were?" Haley replied. The farmer nodded.
The blonde takes a step closer, "I like you so much, more than I'd care to admit."
Something inside Haley shifted, she let out a breath, looking down at her own bouquet before laughing softly. "...Well, that’s stupid." She held hers up, a teasing smirk tugging at her lips. "Because I was looking for you, too." A few seconds of silence pass between them.
Haley takes a deep breath, bracing herself for what she’s about to say, “Look, I just wanted to apologize for the way I’ve treated you over the last few years, realizing my feelings for you have been such a rollercoaster, I wasn’t sure how to react to it. Hell, I spent the past weeks trying to ask everyone about you. I thought you were a grubby, idiotic, and reckless person, but hearing more about you, made me see that you were kind, hard-working and silly. I ended up loving all that sides to you. You don’t have to forgive me for them immediately, but I’m willing to do everything to make up for them.” The farmer’s eyes widened slightly.
Haley could see the moment it clicked in the farmer's head, could see the shift in their expression as the tension between them dissolved into something else—something lighter, something undeniably real.
"Oh Haley, I never cared for those! I liked those parts of you, even if you were to become a completely different person the next year, I'd still find myself falling in love with you all over again."
The farmer let out a small, breathless laugh. "So… what do we do now?" Haley rolled her eyes, taking a step closer, hovering over the shorter woman. “You’re not gonna expect me to hold these all day, do you?” The farmer chuckled, holding it out to her. The two exchange each other’s gifts. The farmer looked down at the flowers in their hands, then back at her. Their expression softened into something so genuine it made her chest feel tight.
Neither of them said anything for a long moment.
Then, with a shy smile, the farmer murmured, "I didn’t know you had feelings for me…" Haley felt her cheeks heat up, but she only huffed, flicking her hair over her shoulder.
"Don’t flatter yourself, I only realized it recently." But even as she said it, her fingers brushed against theirs.
And for once, she didn’t pull away from her.
The two intertwined the hands, nervously. “Wanna head to the beach? It’s got the best views in my experience, it’d be great for taking photos.” Haley said, walking with her new girlfriend hand in hand.
“Sure, but to me, anything with you is the best view.”
“You’re so weird.”

Fanfic Writers: Director’s Cut
*twirls you around!!* HANNAHHH!!! 💜💜
Oh, man, so, as I made sure to point out in the Author’s Notes, this fic was inspired by This Art by my Buddy soggytommy on twt:

My writer brain was active at the time so I sat down and wrote a couple hundred words and DMed my buddy the wip, to which they responded by giving me more context about the scene: fighting the PDs, Leo accidentally blows something up, Mikey suffers the consequences.
So, the actual bts is that I Had been considering making this full angst with comfort at the end, but y’know!! I’m a sucker for levity during serious situations (which is probably why Mikey’s my fave, lol), so I tried to strike a balance there with Mikey kinda breaking the tension at multiple points, even with himself during the immediate aftermath of the explosion.
Also, I enjoy echoing/calling back to lines in my fics! The most obvious recurring one in this fic is the theme of Promises (Mikey promising he’ll be okay, Leo promising to tell him the end of the book, Mikey promising to tell someone immediately next time he gets badly injured). Don and Leo both tell each other at different points that they’ve done Enough. In Mikey’s POV, there’s Orders, with Mikey immediately following Leo’s command to Run and then later listening when he tells him to sleep. There’s also the Donnie SAINW trauma I slipped in, with both Leo and Mikey noticing he doesn’t react well upon seeing Mikey with arm injuries. Probably a few more but these are the clearest ones off the top of my head, lol!
Oh, and here are some of my favorite lines:
- “Aw, du’...” Mikey glares up at him. “Cli’ ‘angr.” << *points at my bestie* turtle who wants immediate gratification instead of suspense and probably loves to binge stories in one sitting
- A bookmark sticks out of it, tasseled with yarn and made up of layered and colorful construction paper and filled with childhood memories. A frail thing (a treasured gift) that has somehow survived all these years and unintentional moves. << *points again* baby Mikey made that :3
- The stabby thing needs to stay in his arm or else he’s off to join the Big Turtle in the Sky. << Personally the funniest joke I had Mikey think to himself next to the This Mission Blows line
- I know it’s Bad, he tells his brain as the pain whites out his vision. Stop yelling at me. I know. << *Mario falling in lava owowowow noise* if I ever actually draw this scene I apologize in advance
- Leo being up meant that they could stay up late, so Donnie would tinker or read and Raph would hog the Gameboy so Mikey would be resigned to reading comics. Sometimes, he’d slip under Leo’s blanket tent and try to read with him, asking him questions about the heroes and the villains and the story. << I wrote this Because of your (yes, You, Hannah) comment on Ch1 which made me think about Leo reading to his bros. Also, I totally drew a thing inspired by this because it’s The Most Precious Thing
- “Nope!” Mikey forces a leg to kick out of his blanket, missing Leo by a mile but sending the message loud and clear. “Y’know what? No blame game! No one wins in the blame game.” << *points for one last time* things I’ve actually done as a kid tucked in bed and a sibling says something stupid so I kicked out to let them know so
- And, he finally gets a hug from his dad, a carefully gentle thing from Splinter that he soaks in like the rays of the sun. << Actual Favorite Line that I will feel proud of til the end of time and also maybe draw at some point cuz Splinter Hug

Please may I have a One piece kinda funny scenario of when Luffy and you (Sanji's teenage daughter who is a good cook and everything) went on a water boat ride and Luffy thought he was being a good captain and promised to protect you and everything when you are more than capable of looking after yourself because you are Sanji's kid. You were forced to come with him because your father and the others dealt with him enough today and to be practically made to come on a boat ride called "Monster Mansion"...you may as well as go into a dark tunnel which is exactly what this ride is involved in..it was fair to say that you felt reluctant about it when your captain actually got surprisingly spooked halfway through and start to cling to you like a lifeline when the atmosphere got unfriendly and you were unfazed about it despite how terrified Luffy was *cue the giggling from the riders who were entirely distracted by a terrified captain who was clinging onto you..you were understandably annoyed about it..he practically dragged you onto this boat ride and he was terrified of this boat ride?!*
(How it came to this to give you more insight. The crew decided to do something fun as a good break from fighting enemies and you decided on a waterpark and it seemed fun and so everyone agreed..and of course Luffy caused enough trouble to last a lifetime and no one wanted to watch him today and you had to. That was how you ended up coming on the monster mansion boat ride with him)
Bonus: How would the other crew members and your Dad react to a terrified Luffy clinging onto you after the ride was over and you were practically forced to carry him for some reason.
https://youtu.be/Sp5TwoWeivk (this was the ride that you and Luffy went on)
No pairings. Just Luffy acting bold at the start of the boat ride and getting scared halfway through when he obviously clung to you like a lifeline and you were not fazed by a ride like that.
Hi! It’s so nice to hear from you again. Of course, you can have this. I always enjoy a good funny scenario story, and this scenario was super funny. Please enjoy!
The Leader of the Monster Trio is Scared of the Monster Mansion?
The Strawhats needed a break. So what’s a better way to relax than a water park? That’s right, nothing! The day you all picked was perfect. It wasn’t excruciatingly hot and there were no clouds in the sky. There was something for everyone here today. There were bright pink and orange lounge chairs for Robin and Nami to lay out and tan on. Of course, there were sweets for Chopper, cola for Franky, and booze for Zoro. Your dad, Sanji, brought food for everyone. However, he spent a ton of time trying to get Luffy away from it before he ate it all. And for you there were rides! You were an adventurous teenager, so you were set to go. But, there was one ride you weren’t sure about, the Monster Mansion. You weren’t necessarily scared, but it still made you a little uncomfortable going on it. “Zoro,” you asked, “can you come on this ride with me?”
“No, ask your dad or something,” he answered without hesitation, each word dripping in annoyance.
You sighed, “I already asked him. He said no. Everyone said no!”
“I did say no,” you turned around to see Luffy pointing to himself, “I’ll protect you.”
“See, take Luffy. He’s been enough trouble for the world, let alone us. Go with him. He’s now your problem.”
“Sure,” you said to Luffy, just before glaring at Zoro. You finally realized why your dad hated him.
You and Luffy arrived at the entrance of the ride. Luffy placed his straw hat on your head, trying to make you feel better. It was just going to be you two on the ride. You two were strapped in, and the ride began. “See it’s not bad at all,” your captain said to you with the biggest smile. The ride continued and you were unfazed by everything. Why did you think it was so bad? About halfway through the ride, something jumped out, and you felt someone wrap their arms around you, clinging to you. You looked to your right and saw Luffy, scared. You started laughing hysterically, this boy fights sea kings and warlords completely unfazed and some water park ride scares the boy. The rest of the ride was just like this.
You exited the ride, with Luffy still clinging to you. You walk back over to the rest of the crew. Sanji is the first to see you, “how was it Princess?”
“Well dad, it was fine for me but I think Luffy hated it,” you say pointing to Luffy. Everyone started to laugh.
“Are you kidding me Luffy,” Zoro asked yelling at Luffy, “some little ride scared you? How is someone who isn’t afraid of death afraid of something like that?”
“Shut up,” Luffy whined, taking his hat from your head, “it was scary. You’d be scared.”
The two kept arguing for a few minutes. Nami and Robin walked up to you. “I guess it looks like the leader of the monster trio can’t handle the monster mansion,” Nami said. Robin chuckled a little before brushing her dark hair behind her ear.
“Come on guys,” you interrupted everyone, “let’s eat.”
Everyone got up and headed to the picnic tables to eat. The day was a success, but Luffy will probably never suggest a water park for a relaxation destination ever again.

Optimizing Performance in MEAN vs MERN Stack Applications
Introduction
In the world of web application development, choosing the right stack can make a significant difference in how your project performs, scales, and adapts to change. Both MEAN Stack development and MERN Stack development are popular choices, each offering its own set of tools and benefits. Whether you’re working with a MEAN Stack development company or a MERN Stack development company, understanding how these technologies behave under the hood will help you deliver faster, more reliable applications to your users.
Understanding the Core Components
At their heart, both MEAN and MERN stacks share the same four-layer architecture: a database, a server environment, an application framework, and a front-end library or framework. MEAN stands for MongoDB, Express.js, Angular, and Node.js, while MERN swaps Angular for React. MongoDB provides a flexible document-based data store, Express.js handles routing and middleware, and Node.js powers the server with its single-threaded, event-driven model. On the front end, Angular brings a full-featured framework with two-way data binding, whereas React offers a lightweight, component-based library that uses a virtual DOM for efficient updates.
Performance Characteristics of MEAN Stack Applications
MEAN Stack applications benefit from Angular’s comprehensive tooling and built-in change detection, which can help manage complex data flows out of the box. Angular’s ahead-of-time (AOT) compilation reduces runtime overhead, translating templates into optimized JavaScript before the browser ever loads them. However, because Angular is feature-rich, the initial bundle size can be larger, affecting the time it takes for users to see the first meaningful paint. With a MEAN Stack development company, you can lean on practices like lazy loading of modules and code splitting to keep the application responsive, loading only what’s necessary when it’s needed.
Performance Characteristics of MERN Stack Applications
MERN Stack development companies often praise React’s minimalistic core and the ability to pick and choose additional libraries to suit a project’s needs. React’s virtual DOM shines in scenarios where frequent UI updates occur, as it batches and diff-checks operations to minimize actual DOM manipulations. The downside? Developers need to assemble their own toolchain—state management, routing, form handling—which can introduce inconsistencies if not managed carefully. Yet, this flexibility allows for highly optimized builds: tree-shaking removes unused code, and server-side rendering (SSR) or static site generation (SSG) can be added to speed up initial page loads and improve SEO.
Shared Performance Optimization Strategies for MEAN and MERN Stacks
Regardless of whether you choose MEAN or MERN, some best practices apply across the board. Compressing assets like JavaScript and CSS using gzip or Brotli reduces payload sizes. Enabling HTTP/2 or newer protocols allows multiple resources to load over a single secure connection. Caching static assets with proper cache-control headers ensures repeat visitors experience lightning-fast page loads. On the database side, indexing frequently queried fields in MongoDB can drastically cut down response times. Finally, profiling server-side code with tools like Node’s built-in profiler highlights bottlenecks in route handlers or middleware, guiding targeted refactoring.
Frontend-Specific Optimization Techniques: Angular vs React
When optimizing an Angular-based front end, leverage change detection strategies such as OnPush to limit re-renders only to components whose inputs have truly changed. Use Angular CLI’s built-in budler to analyze bundle sizes and eliminate redundant code. In contrast, for React, employ memoization with React.memo() or useMemo to avoid unnecessary re-renders of pure functional components. Dynamic imports let you break the UI into smaller chunks, loading heavy components only when users navigate to them. Both ecosystems benefit from performance budgets: setting a size threshold for individual bundles keeps teams aware of the impact of new dependencies.
Optimizing React Performance in MERN Stack Applications
Within a MERN Stack development project, React performance can be taken further by implementing SSR or SSG through frameworks like Next.js. SSR improves time-to-first-byte by rendering HTML on the server, while SSG pre-builds pages at compile time, serving them as static files. When dynamic data is involved, incremental static regeneration combines the best of both worlds. Additionally, integrating a content delivery network (CDN) for your React assets offloads traffic from your Node.js server and brings resources closer to users worldwide. Finally, monitoring bundle sizes with tools like Webpack Bundle Analyzer ensures growth remains in check.
Backend-Level Performance Enhancements for Both Stacks
On the server side, clustering your Node.js process across multiple CPU cores ensures that incoming requests are spread evenly, increasing throughput. Utilizing connection pooling with MongoDB drivers reduces latency by reusing existing database connections. For compute-intensive tasks—image processing, encryption, or complex calculations—delegating work to a message queue (e.g., RabbitMQ or Redis streams) decouples these jobs from the request-response cycle, keeping APIs snappy. Applying rate limiting and request throttling guards against traffic spikes and malicious actors, maintaining stability under load.
Choosing Between MEAN vs MERN Based on Performance Needs
Your choice between MEAN Stack development and MERN Stack development often hinges on project requirements and team expertise. If you need a structured framework with best practices baked in and prefer convention over configuration, Angular within the MEAN stack provides a ready-made environment for large-scale applications. Conversely, if you value modularity, lightweight builds, and the freedom to select your own libraries, React in the MERN stack affords greater flexibility. A MERN Stack development company may be more agile in adopting the latest tools, while a MEAN Stack development company might excel at delivering comprehensive solutions with fewer third‑party dependencies.
Conclusion
Performance is a multi‑layered concern that touches every part of your application—from the database to the server, down to the tiniest UI component. Both MEAN and MERN stacks are capable of delivering robust, high‑speed web applications when approached thoughtfully. By understanding the strengths and trade‑offs of Angular and React, applying shared optimization techniques, and tailoring your choice to your team’s skill set and business goals, you’ll be well on your way to launching fast, responsive apps that delight users. Whether you partner with a MEAN Stack development company or engage a MERN Stack development company, prioritize ongoing performance monitoring and continuous improvement to keep your applications running at peak efficiency.

Integrating Native Modules in Hybrid Apps: A Step-by-Step Guide

In today's rapidly evolving tech landscape, hybrid app development has gained immense popularity due to its cost-effectiveness and cross-platform capabilities. Businesses increasingly prefer hybrid frameworks like React Native, Flutter, and Ionic to streamline development without sacrificing user experience. However, while hybrid apps offer flexibility, they sometimes fall short in accessing device-specific features efficiently. That’s where integrating native modules becomes essential.
This blog walks you through the step-by-step process of integrating native modules in hybrid apps to enhance performance and functionality without losing the benefits of cross-platform development.
Why Integrate Native Modules?
Hybrid apps are built using web technologies, but when it comes to device-level capabilities—like accessing the camera, Bluetooth, sensors, or high-performance animations—web code might not be enough. Native modules bridge this gap by allowing developers to write platform-specific code (Java/Kotlin for Android, Swift/Objective-C for iOS) and call it from the hybrid layer.
This approach improves app performance, unlocks advanced device features, and delivers a more native-like experience to users.
Step-by-Step Guide to Integrating Native Modules
1. Identify the Requirement
Before jumping into coding, evaluate what native functionality is needed. For example:
Accessing device sensors (accelerometer, gyroscope)
Background tasks
Complex animations or gestures
Bluetooth integrations
Once the need is identified, determine if existing plugins or libraries support it. If not, proceed to write your own native module.
2. Set Up the Native Environment
Depending on your hybrid framework, you’ll need to set up native development environments:
React Native: Android Studio + Xcode
Flutter: Android Studio + Xcode
Ionic/Cordova: Node.js, Android SDK, Xcode, and relevant CLI tools
Make sure your environment is correctly configured for both Android and iOS builds.
3. Write Native Code
Now comes the core part: writing native code.
Android: Create a new Java or Kotlin class that extends the appropriate module class.
iOS: Create a Swift or Objective-C class implementing the required bridge protocols.
Ensure this native module exposes methods or events you want to use in your hybrid code.
4. Bridge Native Module to Hybrid Code
Use your hybrid framework’s bridging mechanism:
React Native: Use the NativeModules API to expose native functions to JavaScript.
Flutter: Use MethodChannels to communicate between Dart and native code.
Ionic: Use Capacitor or Cordova plugins to integrate native functionality.
This is the layer where your JavaScript/Dart/TypeScript code talks directly to your native module.
5. Testing Across Platforms
After successful integration, test the functionality on both Android and iOS devices. Ensure consistent behavior and handle any platform-specific nuances.
Pro Tip: If you're unsure how your budget aligns with these technical enhancements, use a mobile app cost calculator to estimate expenses before diving into native module integration.
6. Handle Errors and Platform Limitations
It’s important to gracefully handle scenarios where a feature is not available on one platform. Build fallbacks or conditional code execution based on the OS or device capabilities.
7. Optimize and Maintain
Regularly update native modules to align with OS updates. Unmaintained native code can lead to app crashes, rejections from app stores, or security vulnerabilities.
Best Practices
Keep the native code modular and well-documented.
Avoid bloating your hybrid app with too many native modules unless necessary.
Leverage community-tested plugins when possible, but vet them for security and updates.
Monitor performance to ensure that native modules are not negatively impacting app speed or memory usage.
Real-World Use Case
Imagine a fitness app that requires real-time motion tracking. A hybrid app alone may lag in accurately capturing movement, but by integrating a native module to tap directly into accelerometer and gyroscope sensors, you can dramatically improve tracking accuracy and responsiveness.
This is just one of many scenarios where hybrid apps shine brighter when empowered with native capabilities.
