I've been thinking a lot about Watcher today.
It's so clear to me that what Watcher wants is Dropout. I don't think it's that they want the Dropout money, but they want the Dropout freedom. To be able to make things without having to worry about advertisers. To take risks and grow their Watcher family and make new content that excites them (I also can't help but feel that they see the way the Try Guys have brought in Jared and Kwesi and JohnnyCakes and Marissa and want that too).
The issue is that Dropout didn't become Dropout overnight. The streaming service started in 2018. I didn't get until 2020, and I know many people probably didn't get it until much later (I want to say it was around A Court of Fae and Flowers airing last year that I started to regularly see Dropout posts on my dash). The change was very gradual, and I think it would have done the folks at Watcher some good to remember that.
So now what? A part of me believes that maybe there's a way to salvage this. I feel like a combination of Nebula's and Dropout's old model could work really well for them right now (e.g. want to watch this video uncensored? Want to see some exclusive content? Head on over to Watcher TV!) Of course, that might not work, and the current backlash definitely won't help. And even without the backlash, this still would have been a risk (I'm pretty sure Sagas of Sundry: Madness was put behind a paywall and it bums me out that it's for all intents and purposes become lost media).
At the end of the day, whatever they choose, I honestly still like Watcher and will probably support whatever they choose. Even if they choose to backtrack, I could see that working well for them to. After all, who the fuck remembers ReactWorld?
#I definitely shouldn't tag this#emotions are too high right now and I'm sensitive#I just wanted to throw this into the ether

Update: Fine Bros. are actually really assholes.
Among recent stuff, they have
In their earlier days, when they only had “Kids React,” the Fine Bros. LEGALLY forced a YouTube channel with a show called “Seniors React” to shut down. The Fine Bros. created Elders React a week later.
After Ellen (on the Ellen show. Y’know, national television.) aired a segment where she showed two young kids old technology (old brick cell phones, etc.) simultaneously (as in, not like the Kids React “format” of showing individual kids’ reactions back-to-back) to get simultaneous reactions, the Fine Bros. not only asked their fans to boycott the Ellen Show, but also encouraged them to post negative comments on Ellen’s FaceBook page. They also got their lawyers involved, threatening the Ellen Show over it. This makes the Fine Bros.’ argument of only wanting to protect their “format” flimsy at best.
Censored all sorts of comments and negative criticism on not only YouTube, but FaceBook, Twitter, etc. to ensure their casual audiences would not be scared off.
The Fine Bros. have attained much power through their subscribers over the years, and, especially in light of ReactWorld recently, they’ve officially proven themselves to be undeserving of such support. If you haven’t already, go unsubscribe from the Fine Bros. and REACT YouTube channels, and please, please spread the word on this issue. I will not stand for this major threat to a free YouTube.

The year is 2032. A bomb has just hit New York City. No one seems to care. One person screams out of fear and is sued for $6,000,000. They cry and say they can't afford it so they are sentenced to death. Not a single person reacts. Everyone has a blank expression. Every billboard has been replaced with pictures of TheFineBros with the words "All hail TheFineBros" across the top. This is the new world. React World

Opinion on some shit I saw today
Fuckin’ Cryst. I'm now considering not taking the year gap between graduating high school and going into college to try out YouTube. People are getting shit taken down for /TITLING/ something because they copyrighted certain words. All I really want is to try and make content that people can like, but if it comes down to having stuff taken down for copyrighting a /TITLE/, I'm going to throw a fit. I might make a video addressing this issue but it drives me insane that people can do that. Also, the stupid shit with the Fine Brothers looks like something I also want to touch on when I have the time. But I can't or I'll probably get my channel taken down cause of saying the word /Fine Bros/. It's becoming scary to actually produce content that I want to produce or other people want to produce. For example, you have to get prior permission to make a fucking Nintendo video because they are so strict on rules. Like I want to make maybe one or two videos with Nintendo content but I can't because I'd have my video taken down in a flash. There would be no shit storm over this stuff. It's ridiculous. There's my piece of the pie. Fuck this shit. I’m out.
PEACE.

Oh, so you're telling US, the YouTube community, that we didn't understand what you have planned? That's messed up, you are blaming US for your mess up. Y'all need a small loan of 1,000,000 subs because you're losing them faster and faster by the SECOND. I have seen so many videos about people's stuff being copyrighted for no reason. Take this React World thing and shove it up your ass.

Let me tell you a thing
If you ever think that you'll never be able to do something, you're wrong. For a long ass time I thought I'd never be able to make YouTube videos and even if I somehow did I'd never get any help. As of yesterday I'm now partnered with Fine Bros. Entertainment and I will be making videos for "React World". And as of the beginning of this month I've started a YouTube channel with 2 of my friends, I'm getting my own camera in a month or so, I'm hoping to convince one of my friends to edit videos for me since I cannot edit for shit. My point is... It might take longer than you'd like, you might have to work harder than you'd like, but you can do absolutely anything if you put your mind to it.
